If Google says the restaurant closes at 23:30 and the sign says the same (see picture) why do you kick us out at 23:00? We were still taking our last few bites when one of the staff members rudely showed her phone to say the are close as it is 23:01. Food was good, but the experience was terrible. Not what we are used to at Eat Tokyo. Disappointed

We are a total of 6 (3 Adults + 3 Kids) arrived at 5:50 and table was assigned at 6:05. We were told to have to leave at 7:00 that we understood it's the peak time especially we didn't have reservation. Our concern was the food delivery time however the manager was so rude and raised her voice to tell: YOU HAVE TO LEAVE BEFORE 7 OTHERWISE NO NO NO. She is rude and putting us into a very embarrassing situation. I never see a person in Japanese Kimono as rude as her. Shame on her. We are definitely not coming back. Besides of this expected rude person, all good. Other staffs are nice & efficient; Good food.

I was disappointed by my experience. I was expecting some fresh japanese food. The sushi was warm, and gloopy; it was almost uneatable. It seems they tried to put mayonnaise on it to cover it up. I thought the chicken, and egg fried rice would make up for it. It was worse as the chicken had no taste, the presentation was awful. It could have passed as dog food. I will say the service was very nice, as we arrived 25min before closing time. They made sure we were ok. Maybe, the bad food was due to the time of day. In terms of pricing, it was very fair. About £50 for two people for substantial Japanese dog food.

Any dish you order here is delicious. The sushi is carefully done with what feels like the freshest ingredients. The service is a bit slow, but the taste of the dishes is worth every bite.

The staff are friendly, helpful and suitably attentive. The food is good quality and really tasty. My partner and I always enjoy coming here.

5 stars plus for this restaurant! Lovely lady served us and the food is really good. The prices are very reasonable and portions are good. This is gonna be my regular now.

Absolutely incredible, this is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. The menu is huge, it probably has every popular Japanese dish you can think of, with a large selection of main and side dishes, I got a sushi set, which came with an amazing miso soup, and some steamed veggie gyoza, words cannot describe how good it was. Me and my friends got very different dishes, but I was surprised by how consistently good all the food was despite its variety. I knew the service was gonna be good when I saw a waiter run out the door after a group that just left to give them their bag that they forgot. The staff was super polite and understanding, my only complaint about the service is that we got our food far apart, I got my sushi like 3 minutes after ordering, while my friend got his wagyu don after about 20 minutes, but the staff was so nice it compensates for that. The decor is also super nice, I love that the menu came with pictures and the names of the chefs, and the paintings on the walls and clothes the staff was wearing were really pretty. Overall 9.99/10 dining experience, the only complaints I had were completely overshadowed by the quality of everything else.

Really authentic Japanese food. Great customer service as well! We went for an early dinner and found out they had great dinner promotions if one orders before 7pm. £15 for a sashimi bento box wow!

The food are good and the service is okay.

Was absolutely starving when I showed up and a 14 pound lunch set unagi don later left me completely happy and satisfied. tofu was banging, maki rolls were so full of salmon and tamago was sweet and the lovely unagi sauce made the sushi rice underneath taste heavenly. might’ve tasted really nice only because I was starving but from my point of view one of the best price for quality restaurants in london. (and in my humble opinion the best eat tokyo joint)

Delicious food! Authentic and healthy!

We had a wonderful meal and great service! It was the quickest I’ve been served in a very long time, the food was great and affordable, and the staff was kind. I’m interested in who the manager is since a lot of people seem to complain, but everyone and everything was great to me. They also nicely sat a few people just a few minutes before closing.

Value Japanese food I got a lunch special for £10.50 incl. VAT which had nigiri, maki, katsu and salad. For its decent quality it was valuable, and quite cheap for a London food. Highly recommend any of the bentos. The agedashi tofu is very good and is included in all bentos.

Decent quality for the price. If you r in the area and not sure what to eat u can’t go wrong with eat Tokyo. Large menu to cater for your needs of Japanese cuisine. Service is quick straight to the point which I appreciate. I am there for the food and I don’t like conversations with my waiter. I know some review say bad service but those are efficient service. Atmosphere is busy. Not a first date location if u want a quiet place to talk but definitely a cheap but high quality date recommendation. Large portions curry is great for value highly recommended if u want to save half for next day. Highly recommend trying out the small starters like grill squid etc.

Food, service and atmosphere is great...

The staff here are lovely but where the issue lies is the manager. She shouts at staff in front of customers, has terrible customer service and is extremely unpleasant. Not to mention how poorly she runs this place. Word on the street she stashes tips herself too. Horrible person by the sounds of it. Avoid this place until they change ownership.

My colleague and I recently visited this place, and we were pleasantly surprised by the experience. The food was exceptional, especially considering the reasonable prices. Each dish was flavorful and well-prepared, making it a great value for the money. The service was also attentive, adding to our overall positive experience.

The staffs here are so mean. Also they didn’t tell us where we could sit down, we were confused. Then when we take the order, the staff was impatience. So mean!

Quite bad of an experience where the staff was rude. We finished and paid but the staff was kicking us out cause they were closing soon. There were 4 more tables occupied and it wasn’t a closing time yet. You work in hospitality you need to act accordingly.

Whenever I try new food here, I am never disappointed. Also, the staff were so friendly and had lots of lunch and evening deals. The value, quality, and amount you get are incredible, and I will come to more often this branch.

Food portion getting smaller.. restaurant doesn't even serve Ice.. which is chargeable!! It was great place but no longer with such calculative manager!

Loved the grilled salmon bento drenched in authentic teriyaki sauce; the miso soup was also flavorful and comforting! Highly recommend especially since staff is friendly :)

Terrible customer service I have been coming to other branches for years and never had any problems till today I came to this branch. The staff rolled his eyes at me after I only asked how long does it take for a table for 4 of us. I clearly told him that I know there is a queue but would like to know. He ignored that and insisted me to go back to queue. When I asked him again as I tried to explain that l have young children so would like to know the waiting time . He rolled his eyes at me and asked me back that do I know how many ppl in front of me ? This was outrageous and I would never come back here

We have eaten here many times before and the food has been consistently good. We went last week without a reservation and they were very busy so were told to wait outside. Two members of staff shouted at us and pointed to the door - OUT OUT OUT! That is certainly not how I’d like to be spoken to and will not be going back there again.

Good restaurant to satisfy your craving for Japanese food with prices in line with the quality and service, perhaps a little high on some of the dishes. The staff attentive at all times. As for the atmosphere, it's packed, if you don't have a reservation, at rush hour you can't find a table, it's not your restaurant if you want a quiet evening.

I called to reserve on the day but was told that they are not busy (Tuesday night) and therefore walk in as there are seats available, which was the case when we arrived. It was busy but not too busy with a constant flow of customers coming in and out. It was not a very big restaurant, and the tables were quite close together, which I guess makes it a little more intimate! They have a huge selection of everything: sushi, noodles, rice, side dishes, bento 🍱, and more sushi 🍣 . It took a little while to go through the whole menu, but ended up choosing a bento with a bit of everything and sushi. All was great and very tasty; the service was great; and the food came pretty quickly. Great for a quick meal. And the bonus to it all was that it was really good value for what we ate, recommended and will be back for more.

Great food. Easy to find. Very busy but the food and service was very good. Not as expensive as other Japanese restaurants. We had a native Japanese with us and she found the fish very fresh. If she liked it, it must be good

We never get bored of Eat Tokyo. The Hammersmith branch is medium size and cosy. Staff was attentive and dressed in traditional Japanese clothing. We had two bentos, a King Dragon roll, tea and moki ice cream. And all was so delicious. And prices are still incredibly low compared to anything in London. And the toilet is on the ground floor. Thank you Eat Tokyo.

The bento is very good value, the taste is not comparable to the more expensive ones, but it is enough for one person.

Me and my partner went here for an evening meal, and the staff were very accommodating and found us a table even though we were a walk in. The food was amazing, and was presented very well. Being able to have authentic Japanese drinks along with the food was also amazing (we loved the melon soda the waitress suggested!) The atmosphere was amazing, with a TV playing a very nice nature documentary about Japan and its wildlife. The interior was very cozy and warm, and was very on point!

Really tasty dishes, the service was amazing and great value for money. Huge menu with plenty of selections, dishes came quite fast and we leaved very satisfied. The yakitori were delicious!!

Amazing experience, it feels like you're in Japan. Food is good and reasonably priced, staff is amazing, kind and funny. Wuen you go there, you take the whole packet: food and experience. Definitely recommend it.

It’s a delight every time we go. The whole menu is superb (although I always take a bento box) but it’s the delightful staff who make it a 5-star experience.

We enjoyed our set meal and service was excellent. All the selections were very good and will definitely be returning.

Clean and tidy establishment. I have never been to Japan or eaten any other Japanese food in my life so I can not say if this is really authentic Japanese food. But I can tell you that it was amazing. Well balanced flavours. Tender and fresh meat and fish. I was overwhelmed by the taste and the presentation of the food. I definitely will go back there if I ever come across an EAT TOKYO again. The only thing that really bothered me was that the service was constantly walking up and down to check if everything was okay. It really makes me nervous if people do this and it ruins my peaceful dinning experience. It was also very very busy so best to book a table in advance. Oh and the prices were unbelievable low for the quality and quantity of food you were given.

We came here in the afternoon when it wasn’t so busy. But the place started filling quickly at around 1pm. Service here was attentive and the guy working there was nice. Our food was very filling, fresh and marvellous. My beef bento was very generous in its meat portion and the meat was lovely and flavoursome. The takoyaki was delicious and prawn tempura was good and crispy. Miso soup was quite salty so I didn’t enjoy it that much. Cheap meals and very good value for money. This is a great chain for Japanese food

Our go-to Japanese restaurant coz its cheap HOWEVER the service is like always bad- but tolerable. Our last straw was today when the middle aged male waiter with glasses asked me and my husband to be seated. We chose the one near the counter (we didnt see it was a 4 seat table as a drawer was blocking). He said sarcastically “thats for 4 people. Are you 4 people?!!” He should’ve replied professionally that it is for 4 people which we will understand right away but he was just plain rude. No apologies from him or whatsoever If you want to affordable japanese food with bad service then this your go to restaurant that i can recommed

Young waiter stood right in front of me watching me eating the entire time. How horribly uncomfortable. It's common sense that guests want some privacy n not having staff right next them!!!

What an amazing sushi restaurant! So MANY options in the menu, a fantastic service and extraordinary food. I went with the bento (something) 3, and it's a big portion, I actually couldn't finish it. The tuna sashimi was the best I ever ate. Can't wait to go there again 😁

One of my favourite places to eat authentic Japanese food. Nothing fancy and bougie. Food is always fresh and delicious! Make sure you visit this place if you really like good quality Japanese meal!

We have made a dinner reservation for 10. But they arrange a seat of 6 for 10 person! We ordered a lot of food, and all the dishes arrived at the same time, almost without enough space to put them on the table. We ate for around an hour, the manger Natsuko-san already informed us that we had almost reached our dining time limit of 1.5 hours. It felt like eating fast food due to the rushed pace. We've visited several branches before, and the service at this one is very poor. (Except for the gentleman who took our order, he was very friendly.) won’t visit this shop again

Wow, first time there. Lovely food, freshly cooked, lovely service, good prices. Bento boxes fresh and tasty. Wagyu beef, first time for me, was a little in portion but pricey.

I ordered a bento box the food was good in taste, I like it but it wasn't something that I would try again. Service wasn't nice and I didn't like that from the beginning as one of my friends couldn't come and they questioned me about this in a very weird way. In the end, I wanted to opt out of the service charge and the waitress asked me if everything was ok I said yes however I would like to opt-out and he said “no you can't” I found this rude as he was ignoring me after this.

Very meagre, expensive meal. If you like rubbery fried squid, literally 3 tiny pieces of rubber, baby tentacles, in a light batter which 80% fell off in the seed oil it was cooked in, then this is the place for you. The Caucasian chef, washed his hands to use his germ ridden phone, numerous times, but failed to wash them when actually handling the food to be cooked on charcoal, not a good look, making us queasy because mobile phones carry bacterial reservoirs more than the average toilet seat. Very disappointed.

I love the dumplings, squid, chicken teriyaki and salmon and the sushi rolls. Better reserve a table cause it is always busy.

Very bad manager. There are tables available but she kept asking us to wait outside and told us the table is almost ready. Then two people came after us and she allowed them to have a table. My group is 3 people. There’s another table for 4 available right after that and she’s never came out to ask us. When we came in and ask she said the table is reserved. And she was very rude.

I eat here regularly because the food is excellent and the service is brilliant. The sushi is very fresh and probably the best value in London.

Server refused me a table for 3 as I was alone and waiting for 2 friends who would arrive in 5 minutes. The restaurant was empty. Terrible service! I wish I could comment on the food but he wouldn't let me!

Went to have dinner here with my family for Christmas Eve and was left very disappointed, especially since we come here often. The food is delicious, but tonight the staff was really annoying. We found this unusual as all other times they were lovely but tonight it was just too much. They were very insistent, and kept urging us to order more, they tried to take away a plate with which we were not done yet as there was some sauce still left in it that we wanted- the first time they tried ok, but they tried to take the plate away 4 times. The 4th person from our party arrived 5 minutes after us and in those 5 minutes they asked us 3 times if he was coming. When we were sitting down I put my bag on the table so I could take my coat off and settle and the waitress took the bag and tried to move it somewhere else as for some reason it was bothering her. While eating dessert I was leaning on the table and the waitress came and started cleaning the table with a wet cloth. Overall it felt like they were trying to kick us out as soon as possible, not a nice experience.

Excellent food, not very welcoming staff, actually rude, I understand they’re busy but we had our booking and staff could be a bit more polite and welcoming.

I was supposed to meet a friend for lunch at Eat Tokyo Hammersmith- I asked for a table for two upon my arrival and was denied it because my friend had not arrived yet- I was asked to go outside to wait for my friend- the restaurant was not even half full- we still had lunch there when my friend arrived but even though the food was decent I will never step foot in this place again- the place was not full once during our meal and yet the staff was circling tables anxiously waiting for customers to finish their food- if the staff biggest worry is not to have enough vacant tables, all they have to do is keep up with their unwelcoming attitude

I’ve ordered the Sapporo Ramen for lunch. It’s supposed to come with a decent size pork. Instead, I received two minuscule bites the size of a teaspoon each.

Great food. Quick service and preparation but it seemed like they also wanted to get rid of us quickly- plates were being collected every after a few minutes and the old lady even checked if I still have food in my plate- like rushing me indirectly. Will never go back to this branch. Soho branch is better.
