The service was fast and welcoming, making for a great dining experience. I ordered the Sushi Bento and Hot Sake for £30, and the portions were quite generous. The meal also included a small soup, which was delicious. As someone with Type 1 diabetes, I’d recommend this menu for a low-carb diet—just be sure to skip the extra rice. I’ll definitely be returning!

No need to say—the food is decent for the price you’re paying. However, the customer service is appalling—not from the waiters, but from the manager herself, Natzuko, and the guy with the glasses (I believe he is the assistant manager). Shouldn’t managers lead by example? Both of them are rude and dismissive, with poor customer service skills. They make you feel uncomfortable and unwelcome in their establishment. Upon entering the restaurant, instead of a warm “Good morning,” “Good afternoon,” or even a simple “Hello,” you’re met with a cold “How can I help you?” Obviously, if I’m walking into a restaurant, it’s to eat—not just to say hello. Perhaps it’s a cultural difference, or maybe they simply don’t care about making customers feel valued—something that should be a fundamental skill in hospitality. If you go there, expect to be rushed. The experience feels more like a fast-food chain than a proper restaurant. It’s a shame because I’ve been coming to this place for a long time, yet the service seems to be getting worse with each visit.

Eat tokyo is one of the most authentic Japanese restaurants in London. Having been to Japan twice, Eat Tokyo definitely provides a similar level in price and quality.

We were there for dinner last night. There was a waiter working who was a bit old and wearing a pink traditional dress. She didn't even let us talk, it was like she was trying to finish the meal as soon as possible and send us away. We were just trying to enjoy eating sushi. Also, the same lady was constantly playing with her nose, it wasn’t nice. I don't think I'll go again. I've always recommended the best sushi in town to every guest who comes to this city. But never again.

Huge selection of reasonably priced tasty Japanese food. Good portion sizes. Personal favourites - spider rolls - large katsu curry (it's huge!) - takoyaki - miso soup Waiting staff are friendly. Food comes quick. A little cramped inside and can get busy at times. Also highly recommend the take-away service if you live nearby! It's quick and the portions are just as big. You can watch the chefs work while you wait

El menú, aunque tiene una lista de alérgenos, es completamente ignorado. . Tengo una hija intolerante al gluten. Pedimos específicamente artículos de GF según el menú solo para encontrar que más del 50 % de ellos contenían gluten y ella los había comido. Ahora serán tres días de dolor de estómago. Afortunadamente ella no es celiaca como si lo fuera entonces esta sería una historia completamente diferente. Huelga decir que no volveremos. Lo cual es una pena ya que su comida es bastante buena.

I wanted to share some feedback about our recent visit to your restaurant on King’s Street in Hammersmith. We truly enjoyed the food, which was both delicious and well-prepared, and we were looking forward to a pleasant dining experience. However, we were quite disappointed with the attitude of the restaurant manager, Natsuko. Unfortunately, her approach to customer service fell far below expectations. She was unwelcoming, unfriendly, and at times, quite rude. Her demeanor significantly detracted from what could have been an otherwise enjoyable visit. We believe that excellent customer service is an integral part of a dining experience, and we hope that you will address this issue to ensure that future guests have a more positive experience.

Good and cheap but one of the waitresses is so inflexible with small adjustments to meals. Eg. Replacing pork katsu with chicken katsu in egg sauce, saying it's not authentic. Yet the restaurant also serves kimchi and dim sum?

This chain sushi restaurant is located on King Street in Hammersmith, about a 10 mins walk from Ravenscourt Park. The staff greeted us with warm smiles and seated us at the sushi bar near the kitchen. The menu offered a variety of options, including sushi, fried dishes, cold noodles, bento, and more. We ordered the Tonkatsu bento(pork cutlet), fried calamari, Eel & Egg omelette, a sushi set, and some soft drinks. The calamari and eel omelette were average. While waiting for our main dish, I noticed something fly out from the kitchen and fall to the floor it looked like a piece of fried food. The staff quickly picked up the fried item, but I immediately suspected it might be part of my pork cutlet bento. Sure enough, within 15 seconds, the staff brought out my pork cutlet bento, and the piece of pork cutlet on top looked exactly like what had fallen earlier. At that moment, my appetite significantly decreased. I didn't have time to take a photo or mention it to the staff, so I ended up avoiding that part of the meal…Sigh. Additionally, the sushi didn’t seem very fresh and some pieces had noticeably color changed. Overall, I don’t think I’ll be returning to this restaurant.

Do NOT consider eating here if you have an allergy. I called in advance to say that I am allergic to gluten, they said it was ok, spoke again to the waitress when I was there, ordered with her knowing and used the allergens menu. At the end of my meal they told me that everything I had eaten in fact had gluten in if, even though the menu said everything was gluten free.

Great authentic Japanese food, with typical efficient and polite service similar to other restaurants in the franchise. Will definitely be returning in the future.

One of my favourite treats. Took the family with me, 2 sons under 9 years old. Both boys loved the experience, the wonderful staff could not have been kinder to my young sons 💙 Food was terrific, you have to order the hyper roll. The bento boxes were great value. But beyond everything else the meal was made to feel like an event for my family by the super friendly staff. THANK YOU 😊

The menu at this place was different to the other EatTokyos I have been. I got the bento box and the fish tasted very nice. The tofu was really soft and the miso tasted flavoursome. Service was good and they were attentive. There just wasn’t a real buzz but maybe that was due to the time of day. (7pm on a Saturday)

This is a Japanese sushi restaurant with many branches in London. Their store has the word Tokyo written on it, so it’s easy to find it. The selling point of this store is that it has a lot of Japanese food to choose from, starting with sushi and sashimi, and ending with Japanese Wagyu-related food. The restaurant menu is here Think about it, there should be more than 200 kinds of food, so it is a very comprehensive Japanese restaurant. The most attractive thing about them is their cost-effectiveness. For example, a Japanese meat bento costs an average of ten pounds, which is really cheap in London. We tried their squid tentacles, which are very delicious, so you can try them. I also tried their sushi platter. The salmon sushi was delicious, and the eel egg sushi was also good. However, the tuna was not fresh and had teeth, so it was not delicious. The rolls were also average. But their atmosphere is very good and the waiters are very polite. This is a restaurant worth coming back to, but if you want to eat something closer to Japanese taste, you can go to other restaurants.

The food was okay, and the sea urchin hand roll was surprisingly delicious. At £8 per piece, it’s reasonably priced for London. However, the overall experience was terrible. Almost every time I finished a dish, the plate was taken away immediately—sometimes even before I’d fully set it down. It felt like they were rushing us to leave. Even when there was nothing left to clear, the staff seemed to actively search for something to take away. When it was time to settle the bill, I asked to have the service charge removed. The server insisted on notifying the manager, which I found strange since customers are entitled to decline it. The manager came over and asked why I wanted to remove the charge. I explained that the whole meal felt rushed and unenjoyable, with plates being taken away repeatedly. I even mentioned that on multiple occasions, my plate was cleared before I had even finished my last bite. This happened around ten times, which was incredibly disruptive. The manager reacted aggressively and rudely, outright denying that such a thing could happen. I calmly explained my experience again, but they kept insisting it was impossible. They also claimed that service charge must be paid because it was written on their menu. I pointed out that under UK law, customers can refuse paying service charges if the service is poor, but they continued to argue. They even mentioned that their company, which has branches in Germany, had consulted lawyers who assured them this practice was legal. At this point, I Googled the law on service charges right in front of them and showed it to the manager. Even then, they refused to believe me. They claimed that for takeaway and lunch, service charges weren’t mandatory because they weren’t listed on the menu, but for dinner, it had to be paid. This explanation was completely unfounded. Eventually, the manager begrudgingly agreed to remove the charge, saying, “Fine, I’ll remove it, but don’t act like we’re forcing you.” If this doesn’t count as forcing someone, then what does? The manager also mentioned they would report the incident to their head office. When I asked for the head office’s contact details, they told me to find it on their website instead. As I left, I sarcastically remarked, “You’re doing a great job as a manager with that kind of attitude.” This seemed to set them off, and in front of everyone, they started shouting at me like a market vendor. They claimed that I was the one being rude, even though I was polite throughout our initial interaction. Who, exactly, was being rude here?

Traditionally kimono-clad and extremely efficient staff serves gorgeous, fresh Japanese foods and drinks from a surprisingly large menu - what not to love?! Prices are very decent and it's usually packed but turnaround is good so no long queues. My favorite for a cheeky sashimi bento 👌

Went to Eat Tokyo several times and still tasted delicious with good price. Just need to know their opening time because they close in the afternoon for several hours. One time we went there for lunch but very close to their closing time, luckily they still allowed us to eat-in but we had to finish the food in less than 20 minutes. What an experience...

Have been a big fan of eat Tokyo and been to all stores a lot. But usually not quite happy with the food in Hammersmith branch. This is a California roll with barely any crab meat….

Eat Tokyo is one of the best Japanese restaurants in London with very good value for money and the food is amazing. There are lot of different restaurants as it is a chain and they are always full but the queue is worthy. One of the best is salmon teriyaki or the chicken also very tender and tasty. The tempura is incredible as well as the roasted gyozas.

I cannot comment on the quality of the food because the service was so appalling that it overshadowed the entire experience. We had made a booking, and the restaurant confirmed it, instructing us to arrive on time. In fact, we arrived five minutes early. However, the staff were extremely busy, so we patiently waited outside the entrance, assuming someone would greet us shortly. When a staff member finally came over, we were shocked to be told there were no tables available. They suggested we either cram five people into a four-person table or leave. Perplexed, we asked why there was no table for us despite having booked in advance. The staff bluntly replied, “You were two minutes late.” We tried explaining that we had been waiting outside for five minutes because no one came to assist us, but the response was even more infuriating. “Sorry, there’s no table available. Take it or leave it,” they said dismissively. This rude and dismissive attitude left us speechless. It’s truly astonishing to encounter such poor service nowadays. Regardless of how good the food might be, such behavior is unacceptable. I certainly wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

The food is decent but the staff aren’t very nice - they kept pushing us to leave because there were people waiting for tables.

I accidentally mixed up “gyudon” and “gyu-bento” and asked for a “gyudon bento”. Instead of asking for clarification, the waitress gave me a very condescending lecture whilst speaking in a very rude tone. Other employees are also rude often. This is no way to treat a regular customer; in fact whilst the food is OK, me and my colleagues won’t go there anymore because of being treated this way. Whilst the food is OK, I don’t want to feel bad because of receiving rude treatment like this every time!

Best Japanese food anywhere my favorite restaurant in the world and I’ve been to 40 countries. Everything on the menu is not only good but great. The staff are so caring and the manager is very nice.

Not open until 11.30pm. Refused to let us in at 10.35 pm As they said kitchen was closed. Google Maps clearly said the place was open. How can place be open if kitchen is closed? That’s the key part of a restaurant’s openness. This was misleading . This was also frustrating as we could have got there for 10.30pm had we known this. We hadn’t seen that info on google maps. Incredible. I have been coming to this branch for more than 10 years and needless to say, I haven’t once been disappointed! Absolutely lovely service, the manager and waiters/waitresses are all so friendly and always give new recommendations. The prices are also extremely affordable. The food is terrific and I can never get tired of it - there is a huge variety: from ramen, to curry, to bento, to sashimi and even wagyu! The food is always high quality and there are always new additions to the menu. Love it!

A restaurant with a large selection of Japanese food and friendly staff in traditional clothing. The food was perfect. The restaurant is apparently very popular because there is a queue. I recommend making a reservation or coming right at the beginning of opening hours.

We had dinner in the Hammersmith branch ordered Toku-jyou Chirashi where the sea urchin was bad smelled and being thrown out. We then told the manager about this but then she showed us the other packs of sea urchin claiming that it was fine, as if we lied to them. Finally we were fully billed with service charge yet we were completely dissatisfied with such arrangement.

Was supposed to eat in at the Hammersmith branch. One lady asked me how many are we dining in, I said two. She said "where is the other one?" I answered, "she is on her way". Another man came to me and said they do not allow people to sit if they are still waiting for someone. In disbelief, I asked him why? I am placing an order anyway? Beyond disapponted of their treatment. So rude, not considerate to customers. Will never going back to that branch ever again

SO RUDE!!! Not kids friendly. They didn't want to give my daughter seat. And as us wait outside for half an hour. Tried to book and they refuse my booking!!! They don't care of Customer Service at all.

Once my review was "Really good food and very nice service!" I had to revise my review. I went back there when I was back in London and ordered food to go. Several people waiting for takeaway, several empty tables, yet I was the only person asked to wait in the hot, dirty and noisy street for my food. Having just come from Japan and the excellent service there, this was very disappointing.

Went here for dinner. This is the only packed place around 8pm on a Saturday despite the other restaurants around the area. The staff were nice and they have a thick menu with pictures, lots of selection. I had the Tonkatsu Bento which was delicious, plus a chocolate mochi ice cream.

If Google says the restaurant closes at 23:30 and the sign says the same (see picture) why do you kick us out at 23:00? We were still taking our last few bites when one of the staff members rudely showed her phone to say the are close as it is 23:01. Food was good, but the experience was terrible. Not what we are used to at Eat Tokyo. Disappointed

Nos dijeron que teníamos que irnos a las 7: 00 que entendimos que es la hora pico, especialmente no teníamos reserva. Nuestra preocupación era el tiempo de entrega de la comida, sin embargo, la gerente fue tan grosera y levantó la voz para decir: TIENES QUE SALIR ANTES DE LAS 7 DE LO CONTRARIO NO NO NO. Ella es grosera y nos pone en una situación muy embarazosa. Nunca vi a una persona en Kimono japonés tan grosera como ella. Qué vergüenza. Definitivamente no vamos a volver. Además de esta esperada persona grosera, todo bien. El resto del personal es agradable y eficiente; Buena comida.

Me decepcionó mi experiencia. Esperaba algo de comida japonesa fresca. El sushi estaba caliente y sombrío; era casi incomible. Parece que intentaron ponerle mayonesa para taparlo. Pensé que el pollo y el arroz frito con huevo lo compensarían. Fue peor ya que el pollo no tenía sabor, la presentación fue horrible. Podría haber pasado como comida para perros. Diré que el servicio fue muy agradable, ya que llegamos 25 minutos antes de la hora de cierre. Se aseguraron de que estuviéramos bien. Tal vez, la mala comida se debió a la hora del día. Any dish you order here is delicious. The sushi is carefully done with what feels like the freshest ingredients. The service is a bit slow, but the taste of the dishes is worth every bite.

The staff are friendly, helpful and suitably attentive. The food is good quality and really tasty. My partner and I always enjoy coming here.

Absolutely incredible, this is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. The menu is huge, it probably has every popular Japanese dish you can think of, with a large selection of main and side dishes, I got a sushi set, which came with an amazing miso soup, and some steamed veggie gyoza, words cannot describe how good it was. Me and my friends got very different dishes, but I was surprised by how consistently good all the food was despite its variety. I knew the service was gonna be good when I saw a waiter run out the door after a group that just left to give them their bag that they forgot. The staff was super polite and understanding, my only complaint about the service is that we got our food far apart, I got my sushi like 3 minutes after ordering, while my friend got his wagyu don after about 20 minutes, but the staff was so nice it compensates for that. The decor is also super nice, I love that the menu came with pictures and the names of the chefs, and the paintings on the walls and clothes the staff was wearing were really pretty. Overall 9.99/10 dining experience, the only complaints I had were completely overshadowed by the quality of everything else.

Was absolutely starving when I showed up and a 14 pound lunch set unagi don later left me completely happy and satisfied. tofu was banging, maki rolls were so full of salmon and tamago was sweet and the lovely unagi sauce made the sushi rice underneath taste heavenly. might’ve tasted really nice only because I was starving but from my point of view one of the best price for quality restaurants in london. (and in my humble opinion the best eat tokyo joint)

Delicious food! Authentic and healthy!

We had a wonderful meal and great service! It was the quickest I’ve been served in a very long time, the food was great and affordable, and the staff was kind. I’m interested in who the manager is since a lot of people seem to complain, but everyone and everything was great to me. They also nicely sat a few people just a few minutes before closing.

Value Japanese food I got a lunch special for £10.50 incl. VAT which had nigiri, maki, katsu and salad. For its decent quality it was valuable, and quite cheap for a London food. Highly recommend any of the bentos. The agedashi tofu is very good and is included in all bentos.

Decent quality for the price. If you r in the area and not sure what to eat u can’t go wrong with eat Tokyo. Large menu to cater for your needs of Japanese cuisine. Service is quick straight to the point which I appreciate. I am there for the food and I don’t like conversations with my waiter. I know some review say bad service but those are efficient service. Atmosphere is busy. Not a first date location if u want a quiet place to talk but definitely a cheap but high quality date recommendation. Large portions curry is great for value highly recommended if u want to save half for next day. Highly recommend trying out the small starters like grill squid etc.

Food, service and atmosphere is great...

The staff here are lovely but where the issue lies is the manager. She shouts at staff in front of customers, has terrible customer service and is extremely unpleasant. Not to mention how poorly she runs this place. Word on the street she stashes tips herself too. Horrible person by the sounds of it. Avoid this place until they change ownership.

My colleague and I recently visited this place, and we were pleasantly surprised by the experience. The food was exceptional, especially considering the reasonable prices. Quite bad of an experience where the staff was rude. We finished and paid but the staff was kicking us out cause they were closing soon. There were 4 more tables occupied and it wasn’t a closing time yet. You work in hospitality you need to act accordingly.

Whenever I try new food here, I am never disappointed. Also, the staff were so friendly and had lots of lunch and evening deals. The value, quality, and amount you get are incredible, and I will come to more often this branch.

Terrible customer service I have been coming to other branches for years and never had any problems till today I came to this branch. The staff rolled his eyes at me after I only asked how long does it take for a table for 4 of us. I clearly told him that I know there is a queue but would like to know. He ignored that and insisted me to go back to queue. When I asked him again as I tried to explain that l have young children so would like to know the waiting time . He rolled his eyes at me and asked me back that do I know how many ppl in front of me ? This was outrageous and I would never come back here

We have eaten here many times before and the food has been consistently good. We went last week without a reservation and they were very busy so were told to wait outside. Two members of staff shouted at us and pointed to the door - OUT OUT OUT! That is certainly not how I’d like to be spoken to and will not be going back there again.

I called to reserve on the day but was told that they are not busy (Tuesday night) and therefore walk in as there are seats available, which was the case when we arrived. It was busy but not too busy with a constant flow of customers coming in and out. It was not a very big restaurant, and the tables were quite close together, which I guess makes it a little more intimate! They have a huge selection of everything: sushi, noodles, rice, side dishes, bento 🍱, and more sushi 🍣 . It took a little while to go through the whole menu, but ended up choosing a bento with a bit of everything and sushi. All was great and very tasty; the service was great; and the food came pretty quickly. Great for a quick meal. And the bonus to it all was that it was really good value for what we ate, recommended and will be back for more.

Good restaurant to satisfy your craving for Japanese food with prices in line with the quality and service, perhaps a little high on some of the dishes. The staff attentive at all times. As for the atmosphere, it's packed, if you don't have a reservation, at rush hour you can't find a table, it's not your restaurant if you want a quiet evening.
