Earls Barton Chippery in Wellingborough

I Live a few streets away. As a rule I dont use this chip shop as really bad for a good few years now. I rather drive to Wellingborugh, but thought would give them a chance as only wanted chips, sausage and curry sauce so who could mess that up right!! Wrong got home after collecting less than five min walk STONE COLD, never again… 0 stars !! Curry sauce even in bag upside down.

A bit expensive with cod and chips being £12 but food was freshly cooked.

To be fair on this occasion the meals were very nice but a bit pricey for a village chip shop.

A good, classic chip shop where one small portion of chips is too much food for four people. I can recommend eating an entire battered sausage to yourself in the rain. Waits can be long at peak hours and you have to just kinda stand around awkwardly while you wait but it's worth.

This is the best ever. Portions are huge. We had fish which was enormous and chips was plentiful. It was my first visit although I had heard how good it was. It will now be my monthly treat

I went here tonight to get my son a small battered sausage and small chips. I waited the best time of 20 minutes after ordering to receive my small quantity of food that I had ordered. As I left the shop and walked up the alleyway, I heard someone coughing and being sick. I looked and the worker who had literally JUST served me was being SICK at the back door of the shop. Shouldn't be working in a food environment if you feel unwell. So I get the food home reluctant to give to my son after the circumstances. The food was STONE COLD even after waiting 20 minutes for it and the £3.20 price I was charged for a small chips was disgusting. See picture to see the lack of chips you receive for the price! My sons dinner went straight in the bin after probably the worst experience I've ever had when going to a takeaway. Sorry guys you have lost a regular customer and make sure your staff are actually well enough to serve food to the public!

I love the chippery shop! They have the best fish and chips in town, and their portions are generous and satisfying. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the service is fast and efficient. The shop is clean and cozy, and they always have fresh sauces and condiments. The prices are reasonable and the quality is superb. I highly recommend the chippery shop to anyone who loves a good meal!

If you like mediocre chips and can't stand the taste of fish, this is the place to come. The slabs of dubious protein that The Chippery describes as 'cod' could be anything at all and to be fair, they may well be repeatedly refrozen fish from the early 2010s. However, these battered pencil cases at least have the merit of being bland rather than actively nauseating, unlike the chips on a bad day. But don't worry, you will still pay top dollar for this low-quality dross. Oh, and if you want kebab meat, be prepared to wait as they spin the slab of whatever-it-is in the low glow of something that looks like the electric fire in your Nana's front room circa 1992. As the Chippery has something of a captive audience in the village, its surly owners see no reason to make any effort at all. So if you're in Earls Barton and fancy fish and chips, head to Nemo's or the Gold Street fish and chip shop, both in nearby Wellingborough. But please, give The Chippery a wide berth.

Was not COD if it was it was the cheapest they could find it was tasteless for £25 for two was a ripoff.

Chips were okay, paid £7.90 for a piece of cod that had a weird twang to it, not good value for money and not a patch on the chip shops in Wellingborough, was disappointed overall and will not be going back…service was good though and not too long to wait for the food.

Haddock was old! As soon as I opened the paper something didn't smell right! I've been a chef my whole life, so orep fish on a regular basis. That went straight in the bin!! £12 for a few chips 😌

I am very fussy with fish and chips and we always love our fish and chips from you (been coming for over 6 years now). I had friends over the other week, having not tried yours and they loved them too. And Xmas eve is my favourite night of the year - fish and chips and Carol's on the square! Its tradition.

Many years ago I enjoyed this takeaway Coming back from Wellingborough I decided to call in. Apart from slow service, I was in for 15 minutes with one person in front of me. So I get home and what a rubbish and I mean rubbish bag of chips. I ate some, binned the rest. £4.80 for fish cake and chips. Never again

Decided to have a chippy lunch. My dad ordered a small tray of chips, battered sausage and a small bottle of water. £6.10!!!!!!!!!!!! I asked why it was so expensive and he said the water is £2. What a rip off.

Surprisingly quiet for a Friday evening, which is perhaps a reflection of the times we're living in, so the service was very quick. The food was excellent with good size portions and freshly made so we were very happy.

Chips were undercooked. And soggy, not a great experience as. Gent serving was friendly and the shop looked clean. Shame really as I work near there.

A genuine shop to eat 100% hygiene food items.

Just got home with our order, ordered cod and chips, took a couple of mouthfuls of fish and its off. Other than that service and chips was okay.

Best fish n chips for a long time

Ordered online when we got there we waited ages only to be told they couldn’t cook a pea fritter and did we want to change the order. I said no as the rest of the order had been sitting on counter for ages. When we opened the order it was wrong, cold and dry. The whole order went in the bin. I emailed the chippery as there was no phone number available and I still haven’t received a reply.
