Walked in and half the ceiling was missing, dust everywhere, it says 5 star hygiene rating on the door”really?”. The place needs shutting down! Bought fish and chips twice with mush peas,it was nearly £30,tiny bit of fish with cold and hard leftover chips,it would be cheaper to have a sit down meal somewhere nice, this place has gone down hill rapidly. Spend your hard earned pennies somewhere else folks because can’t see this place being opened for much longer! Such a shame as it used to be the best in Boston:(definitely won’t be back!

Gone down hill, went in today. Lacking in care as whole unit has been stripped back. No more large seating area. No restaurant upstairs. Menu board all blank and menu on paper on the counter. Staff were friendly enough. We get the same order locally as eagles was nearly 10 pounds more ! Large hole in the wall externally with light shining through! Fish was good but chips were dry and cold

It was always a bit expensive , but it was good fish . Today using the takeaway service , for £20 we got half a try of chips each , small peas and the fish was so thin it was over cooked, dry fish and nasty hard batter.. I rang to complained and they said the boss wants it all weighted out . I am actually going to drive to Skegness for our fish and chips . It’s half the price , twice the amount .

They were either overcooked and left out as very cold!? Or they need to change oil, curry was overcooked and tasteless!? 1.80 for jumbo sausage!? Lost customer never again as can get better elsewhere for half the price!?

Finding ourselves in Boston for a couple of days, went looking for a chippy and chanced upon Eagles. The downstairs seating area is bright and welcoming and the staff were pleasant and helpful. The price was what I would expect and there was a reasonable choice available. We both ordered large cod and chips, one with peas and the other with bread and butter. The chips were well-cooked and plentiful. The fish was tasty, although as others have noted the batter was greasy - so much so that when I moved the fish there was a noticeable amount of oil on the plate where the fish had been. Seriously? You couldn't stand it on a piece of absorbent paper for a few seconds to remove some of the oil before serving it? But the biggest disappointment was the "bread and butter". A round, white roll which would probably have been quite nice if it was fresh - which clearly it wasn't. And while I didn't expect real butter, I did expect that whatever spread was used in place of it would at least be over most of the surface, not just a spot in the middle! (See photo). I did eat part of the top of the roll but then left the rest as quite frankly it wasn't pleasant. With any catering establishment I always ask myself the question "Would I go there again?". Leaving aside the fact that we have no plans to return to Boston, I would have to say that if I ever did find myself here again I would certainly begin by looking elsewhere.

5 days before my Grandsons pool party I pre ordered and paid for 11 children’s meals. I was assured they would be ready to pick up at 1.30 on the day. I handed them an idiot proof order with explicit instructions and my phone number should there be any problems. I arrived at 1.20 on the day they were ordered for. I asked for my order to be met with blank faces and a jumbled conversation about phone orders. My order was not ready, not even cooked!! I asked to speak to whoever was in charge. There was no one, the place was being run by youngsters who were doing there best, the chap doing the cooking hid from me behind his fryer. I did receive my order, 25 minutes late and with no apology. What was the point of ordering!!! I will never trust them again. Absolute shambles.

Our favourite Boston fish and chips restaurant (Tates) was closed so tried Eagles for the first time in about six years. The place was unrecognisable! The old carpeted restaurant was now boring bland vinyl or laminate. Part of the old lovely restaurant was closed off. The decor looked tatty. The service was very slow and non existent until I asked someone to serve us.The shock was the haddock. Both fish servings were identically shaped suggesting to me that this was either reconstituted fish or just odd. The fish was barely edible it was so overcooked. The chips were stale looking, greasy and ghastly. This is a sad demise as it used to be a borderline posh f & c restaurant and now was just a dive.Avoid it!

Have always rated Eagles over the years but as we now live away our visits have been infrequent. We ate recently taking away and oh dear - what a shame. Overall the food was disappointing - we've had far tastier and fresher food in many a land-locked place. We took issue with the fish. The piece of haddock was dry and the cod was double battered (?!) which wasn't overly palatable. Also the chips were 'ok' - not very tasty nor the most generous of portions. The place was busy enough so don't know if we were just unlucky but I would suggest the lowish rating on this website tells a story. I'm not sure we'd 'dare' to try this place again before exploring other places first.

I had recently (earlier this week) placed an order for several fish and chips, got home and there wasn't any fish in the package. I called to complain, and was told if I left my name and number I'd be given a replacement, free of charge the next time I went in. I came in today to collect the reimbursement, and when explaining the situation to the lady at the front of house, she looked at me like I was a destitute conman and said:"No, I don't know what you're talking about... I've not heard anything about this." I then explained again, and assured her my details were taken and asked if she could check. She then replied:"Nope, not heard anything about that, NEXT PLEASE", as to dismiss me and insinuate I was lying. She then proceeded to deal with the person behind me in the queue. I had to find another member of staff, who apologised and found my details in a book they kept for these types of issues. The other staff member then checked my details and confirmed that they were in the wrong. I was eventually served, but the incredibly rude lady I dealt with initially didn't even bother apologising. Her attitude has put me off this place forever - customers should not be spoken to like they're scum, and that's exactly what she did. I'd love to come back provided the employees act accordingly (like her colleagues, all of whom were incredibly eager to make amends). The management should cut that staff member away like a tumour, before her cancerous attitude spreads across the establishment.

I have just visited this business , 8.20pm 22/11/14. This is my local takeaway and we have been very regular customers over the years however this evening I was disgusted with the service I received. The young girl serving me was clearly new and being trained (I use the term loosely) and 2 other young ladies were also working on the counter. Not once did I see any of them smile and it was almost too much trouble for them to serve me. There was a total lack of customer service and nobody seemed to care either. The shop looks dirty and unkempt as do the staff. To say the standards here have gone into decline is a massive understatement. A great shame as the food is still of a reasonable standard.

We especially chose to have tea here before we went yo the Gliderdrome as have been few years ago and it was very good. The fish was wafer thin, chewy damp batter and totally unappetising, in fact uneatable. The young girls serving never smiled and seemed totally unhappy in their work. Will not go again.

This is a pretty poor chip shop. It's dingy, grubby and greasy. There are so many light bulbs blown that it's also dark. The menu boards are also in a poor state. Two girls serving were bloody grumpy and unwelcoming. The chips were cold and soggy - probably because they were wrapped way before the rest of my order and kept 'warm' in the hot cupboard. Pies are microwaved (why? Why? Really strange.). Chip shop pies are great when heated in a hot cabinet. They're inedible from a microwave. Totally disorganised and it shows in the junk they serve. There must be better around.

This restaurant never disappoints if you are looking for a good plate of fish and chips you cannot beat Eagles. I especially recommend the plaice which is always very tasty and the batter is so light it almost melts in your mouth. Nice place to go and eat a good plate of tasty fish and chips. Restaurant decor is nothing special but food and service are very good.

I haven't had fish and chips for years but this place does gluten free fish and chips on a Friday and Saturday night. We were seated quickly, service was brilliant and the food was fantastic, both gluten-free and normal, the fish was fresh and tasty and well worth the anticipation and 60 mile round trip we made for this restaurant. Reasonably priced and definitely worth a return visit.

called in today for an inexpensive meal of fish and chips. We both ordered cod, chips and mushy peas and paid just £10 for the two meals. We didn't have to wait long and the fish was straight out of the "pan" so very fresh and plentiful. Felt extremely full after eating this which is obviously a good sign. The young waitress was very busy with 16 covers in the restaurant at the time and she was coping entirely on her own. She managed to be friendly with a smile however in spite of rushing around. A gentleman then also joined her but the rush appeared to be over by then! Would certainly recommend to anyone. Other things on the menu too but "Eagles" has always been famous for fish and chips even with previous owners.

Visited Eagles today 22-08-2014. The young girl who served us was very pleasant and efficient. The food was excellent. The only gripe we had was the totally unnecessary intrusive muzak that you get in nearly every shop and restaurant nowadays otherwise top marks.

We have eaten good meals in the restaurant many times and arranged to meet friends on Monday night, big signage on front window and side say restaurant open on a Monday, but when we arrived piece of paper said otherwise. Not to worry, we thought we'd eat downstairs, but no jacket spuds, no hot water for tea or coffee. Yet later, other customers having tea! When we questioned it were told boiler timer had kicked in - would've been nice to have been asked if we wanted a hot drink. The young chap serving came to apologise and offered us a free drink next time....next time? Felt disorganised and amateur, such a shame.

You have to be in Boston to eat here (implying that Boston is not everyone's idea of tourist attraction or great long weekend). But...if you are a die hard footy fan (ahhhh, he's coming to the point) and you follow your team to Boston (to see them put to the sword by the mighty Pilgrims), then Eagles is 75m from the ground and offers three dining options: 1 ) take away fish and chips (highly rated as one of the best establishments in the town and that has always been my experience); 2) eat in downstairs (in the paper with placky fork or pay a few pence extra for real rockery and eating irons, but it's still all pretty basic and cramped); 3) proper sit-down waitress service with table cloths and other posh things not normally associated with away fans. To find the 'upstairs proper sit-down bit', nip down the side of the main shop and up some stairs. Here you will find, carpets, wall paper, waitresses, table-cloths, napkins, menus, beer and wine and really a very genteel style of fish and chips that is very much Harry Ramsden style and quality but at far lower Boston prices, and without the nasty commercial branding feel that these days goes with almost all national corporate restaurant chains. Enjoy the match, safe journey home and hope we stuff you!

All I really wanted was a quick bite to eat on my way to join some friends on a night out. I know I thought as I'm passing Eagle's I pop in a get a bag of chips. The queueing system seemed a bit vague, and I'm sure I probably managed to upset someone by standing in the wrong place for too long, but it takes a while to take in the length of the menu. Still be strong and just get the chips I came for. Now for the trip down memory lane. I was able to get scraps (little crispy bits of fish batter) with my chips, haven't had those for years. The chips were not bad too.

We have been eating here for many years going back to when it belonged to John Eagle.Following a short spell when the food fell below its usual standard, I am pleased to report that it is once again suburb .The furnishings are well above the standard you would usually find in a chip shop and the atmosphere relaxed. The grandchildren keep themselves amused playing with the toys . A considerate touch. There is something for everyone on the menu even if you do not fancy fish. The relaxing bar area is excellent for a pre or post meal drink and tastefully furnished. The wine is very reasonably priced for a restaurant, which refreshing in this day and age.We have never had cause to complain about the service. The staff are attentive and polite. Now the parking issue has been resolved there is no excuse not to try it!

I went to Eagles yesterday for a meal with a friend, it has been several years since I was there but it always used to be good and we couldnt think of any other fish and chip places in Boston where you could eat in.There was only one other table of 2 in when we got there, generally not a good sign! The service was good, friendly and prompt and the portion sizes were massive (we both had jumbo sausage and chips). The food was ok, nothing spectacular, just average. However the prices (especially for the area) were ridiculous. Sausage, chips, beans and coke came to £9.75. The menu was very limited, the restaurant was very cold and there was no paper in the (very dirty) toilet. I wont be going back there again any time soon, there's way better options locally.

We dropped into Eagles restaurant en route to Boston town centre for some shopping after an incredible morning walk beside the freiston shore nature reserve lagoon an opted to sit in the upstairs restaurant to eat our food with a beer. We chose a great booth next to a window with views of the formidable local landmark, the immense 15th century cathedral called the stump in a really quaint, accidentally kitsch nautically themed bar and restaurant. The fish was excellent with tasty, crispy batter, chips delicious and mushy peas very tasty. They were served in huge portions which we just about got through, being famished after our morning walk. The bill came to a reasonable 17 pounds for two portions and a pint of lager. The whole experience was, like the town itself, very 1986 and very unique, and we loved this kind of off-the-beaten-track rural part of the uk which has a real warm and earthy charm if you can scrape off the brown, silty veneer and see beyond the flat lands and occasionally scowling faces!
