Old Leake, Fish & Chips in Boston

Found their Fish & Chips pretty mediocre in the past but WOW that was the best piece of Haddock I have ever had in my life! It was beautiful creamy white fish and the batter was incredible. Can't comment on the chips as did not have them. Couldn't even manage to eat all the Haddock in one go but too good to waste so saved it for next day. Thank you !

OK I'm guessing if this is your only chippy within 15 miles you may like it due to lack in f choice, we drove from Skegness as we were staying local and always prefer to shop local.. Mistake! Busy with customers but awful food We had a sausage in batter rock hard Burnt batter and the sausage just a paste inside, now I'm not not expecting free range organic but it should have a bit of a bite to it at least and no resemble a cheap pate We held out for the cod and chips, chips were ok👍 cod although cooked to order was thin and tasteless and this rock hard armour batter.. Not burnt like the sausage but really the owners need to go and try proper fish and chips as they have completely missed the idea, such a shame we should have eaten at Skegness after all.. Owners get yourself to a cash and carry and buy proper chip shop batter or use a good recipe please... Won't be back

Terrible. The chips are always raw. I think the fryer should check this as this has happened on more occasions than not. It’s a shame as it’s near where we live. Won’t be returning.

Excellent chippy and does a lot of different food. Well worth a visit.

Chips soggy & been cooked in old fat..had been @ seaside 4 the day & called in on way home. NEVA AGAIN..DISGUSTING..have reported this place re standard of food..even our dogs turned their noses up @ food..AVOID!!!!

Very poor and expensive £6.50 for mini fish and I’d be embarrassed to charge that as was more like a fish finger never again

We have been here a few times the food is mixed bag latest occasion the food was dry as though the food had been held in cabinet for a while sausage chips dry fish previous occasion batter very thick on fish soggy Counter staff miserable don’t appreciate your Business as only chip shop in area it’s shame that food not better standard along with service on plus side the chip shop very clean modern

Simply the best .They even have scraps. Just like a proper fish and chip shop. Very popular with locals too. I was only passing and decided to pop in.

I've eaten there several times and the portions are really big.

Visited this after arriving at nearby Lakeview lodges, walked here with the dog and had some of the best chips I've had in ages, crispy with fluffy middles, mini fish was lightly battered and crispy not oily, cooked to order so had a 5min wait, I had a pie, not my usual Pukka but nice , generous portions fair price . Specials available. Happily use again.

Excellent quality fish and chips, and the jalapeño bites were the most addictive things I’ve ever tasted, will definitely be back on our next trip.

Very nice fish cake chips and curry sauce the curry was a very small pot used to be twice the size it was good although a bit on the expensive side we go to a chippy in Skegness fish chips peas and a mug of tea it's only £3 more and its eat in.

Really not great. I'd recommend avoiding. Went this evening and placed a large order. Whilst friendly the staff seemed distracted and as a result almost missed adding the burger we had ordered to the bag. Once we were home we found they'd missed the 2 large battered sausage completely. The saveloy was stone cold and chips bang average.

Improved alot, please Don't go back to how it was !! The fish was lovely and the chips just right. Keep the oil fresh !!

Nipped is for chicken and chips whilst parked at the leisure center around the corner. Happy service and fast. Standard chicken and chips also veggie burger and kids nuggets meal at a reasonable price. Good taste, clean shop no complaints.

We keep trying here but its getting worse! How can a chip shop get chips wrong? Totally brown and inedible, tasted like they had been there all day! Mine went in the bin. Don't like to leave reviews but this is the 4th time in a row they have been rubbish and this will be the last time I try!

Was a surprise trip. Lady was pleasant. Food arrived to find brown chips. Obviously bad oil or even over cooked. The batter was toothick on the fish. Ruined a light Fluffy cod and haddock First visit doubt try again.

Bangin grub. I go all over the country n generally can't resist a chippy lunch when I've got time. This is probably my fave chippy. Love the grub n the staff are a great friendly bunch too.

Mixed reviews and all quite old so gave it a go As it is my nearest but disappointed limp soggy chips probably fat not hot enough cod batter was under cooked and still battery and small fish not good quality or value for money. If they impoved their cooking they could do well.

Three cod and two large chips - were great sized portions for 3 people. Tasty fish and chips, chips could just do with slightly longer cooking - would eat again

Nice little chippie however we found the Large fish very Small for the price, nice tasting food though and worth another visit.

My friend is new to the area and whenever I visit we make it a necessity to enjoy a chippy tea from here.

We have found a holiday home in the area and was looking for a local tasty chippie and boy did we find one! Always risky trying somewhere new but I am so pleased we did! The cods were huge and fresh, chips were bang on and so were the sauces! Was all hot, fresh couldn't fault it at all and im known to be a fuss pot , even the mother in law was happy and she's a tough lady to please! When we pulled up it was busy which was also reassuring! Will deffo be back here without a doubt - thanks guys :))

On a visit in the area and staying local we really looked forward to having a fish and chip tea. Went around 5pm and both had fish and chips. Some peas and curry sauce. Chips old and been cooked for ages just kept warm. Fish very poor, batter soggy and just full of fat juice e looked like it had been reheated several times. Curry not what you'd expect. Peas were ok and best bit on the plate. Visiti g area again in a few months but these won't be getting any more of our money. You need to change your ideas of customer service and cook fresh warn hearty food not this rubbish.

We are new to the area, and in particular, Old Leake. Eveybody loves to have a chippy on their doorstep. Firstly , they have no website, no FB page, they don't offer a delivery service. Get with it guys, this is 2022, and these are basic services you should offer your customers , old and new. You have a potential goldmine on your doorstep, but choose to overlook that. So you would think that they can afford to overlook the above, as people will flock here anyway. Don't bother. Overcooked chips on both occasions, greasy haddock, dry kebab meat and thick tasteless battered sausages. very disappointing. Either up your game or close, that simple. We will now go further afield and try the chippy in Butterwick rather than the one on our doorstep.

As this seems to be a running issue, we orderd cod and chips twice with peas, kebab meat and chips and a sausage on its own. When we got back there was only one fish and chips a kebab meat and chips a separate chips and a seperate sausage so was a fish missing luckily I ordered the sausage as an extra as I’m a greedy bugger so the wife had that with her chips instead. Would have gone back but the que was massive and my time is little at the best of time.

Very disappointed with the fish last night really thin and batter was thin but not crispy. Such a shame looked like something you would buy from Tesco ,normally very good but last night you let yourselves down

Mostly delicious,only once we were disappointed, the chips I think had been laying around to long,to much batter + to small the fish inside..didn't eat much of it. But that's the only time it wasn't good +.no prob since.

Amazing! Our workplace has Fat Fridays and we sometimes visit here for a spot of lunch. Quick service and never disappointed!! Delicious chips every time.

Best fish and chips, do awesome burgers. Plenty of other grub including donnor kebab in a wrap. It's a must do stop on the way home from skegness.

Disgusting Service workers are very rude and sarcastic. must be run by the government as have to stand outside like little sheep.

Disorganised ordering system. staff overwhelmed could not cope. poor / none existent communication. No idea about food, waited 15 minutes and left.

Fantastic chippy with good customer service staff are very welcoming and it’s very clean. The fish and chips are to die for fantastic little chippy 💯 we will be going back.

Had a great meal, friendly staff. All tastes fresh, good portion sizes, even my husband was impressed with the portion sizes my daughter has allergies. The owner was happy to assist even though it was really busy. Will definitely be back.

If I could leave a zero review I would chips are awful taste horrible. Leave a fat film on your lips God knows what they cook them in. Even when I'm hungry I still won't buy these chips sad as it's the closest place to us. Have tried them a few times hoping they would improve but sadly not.

Have tried loads of times hoping they would get better but honestly would rather drive to skegness than eat these chips. Big portions but wasted as they taste awful. Aparently fish is ok but I don't eat that. If they sorted out what they cook them in I would give it a go but now would rather cook my own.

We had fish and chips it was the worst we've ever had fish wasn't cooked properly and was swimming in grease it ended up in the bin will never use again as it cost twenty pounds and we couldn't eat it even the dog wouldn't eat it

The fish is still crispy when we get it home. It tastes really good. When we've bought fish from other chippies, it's usually gone soggy. Crispy fish is a winner. Staff are super friendly too.

We moved up this way in December and so pleased when we found this wonderful Fish and Chip shop. All the food we have had from here has been amazing. Friendly and extremely helpful staff. Miss them so once able to this will be one of the first places we will be getting our dinner from. Thank you for a wonderful friendly Chip shop x

Called in here for a quick snack had one person in front trying to pay. Stood there ages looking at presumably the fryer to ask for some fish to be put in. Got the odd glazed over gaze in my direction but nothing. Walked out in the end

Went in for family order over Christmas they gave us cod bites instead of chicken bites phoned them when we realised and was told they'd sort bites out and step son would collect shortly he came home with a £25+ order which was someone else's and they charged him most expensive chicken bites ever

This place has improved over time with the food - but can get confusing when a lot of people in the shop as not the standard arrangement for ordering food (no queuing system)

I live near the fish and chips shop . I go there not often but a few times a month . Sometimes I get frustrated with this place because they charge us more , they haven’t got our meal right yet and also forget something . A couple of times they have gone us a completely different meal then what we ordered . One time I was in there half an hour because they had forgotten my order and was really rude .

Brilliant little find on our way to the caravan, the staff are lovely but most of all the haddock is always very tasty the chips aren't greasy we call most Friday s on the way sadly this was our last Friday till March next year

Ordered my food then l started chatting away asking how Business was with the boss. l think. The fryer. Left with only my chips an half my order. Got home an rung them as l was not happy at all. They came out an delivered the rest to me. An with an extra portion of fresh chips said they was sorry. Spot on service in my eyes. l say thank you guys. Food has been great on several visits but....Went again to Old Leake Chippy on 7th October, was 9p short on a £6 or so order and they would not let me owe them 9p. The poor woman who served me who was very polite etc. said she had to ask the owner who I think was the fryer. She looked like she had seen a ghost at the thought of asking him and as he seemed to have a miserable and sad face :( so I reduced my order. What happened with a service with a smile. Possibility he looks like that all the time. I have been raving about this place for ages for its great food and gone to trouble promoting the place on sites similar to trip advisor. Might have to review again after Saturdays visit!

Stopped off late last night for haddock and chips, I have to say the haddock was the best tasting I have had in a long while, the batter was nice n crispy , the chips aren't greasy either we will definitely visit again

Got fish and chips from here whilst on holiday. Good quality, well cooked and reasonably priced. The shop and food area was very clean and the staff friendly and helpful. Highly recommended

Have visited this chip shop on a few occassions,at first the order was right and the food was nice but then the second visit our order was wrong we went back for a third visit for some cod bites which on the menu are priced at 65p,ordered 2 portions and was charged £5 so I queried it and was shot down in flames by the extremely rude man that was cooking the food,the lady behind the till didn't really have much of a clue as to what my complaint was,I WAS OVERCHARGED!!! anyway left with the cod bites and they certainly were not worth the wait floppy,greasy,tiny odd bits of fish that were clearly scraps!!! Defiantly will NOT be trying this chippy again!!!

Not happy remotely!! Went this evening for two lots of fish and chips, a fish, peas and gravy. After quite a long wait we were told our order was ready. After driving back to our caravan we opened our food to find the seperate fish wasn't there and we were only given chips which we never asked for. Irritated to say the least!!! would have come back but by the time fuel is taken into consideration it wasn't bloody worth it. Not a happy customer!!!

I put an order in and when I got home the order wasn't complete...!!!!!! Fish cake and chips, Donner n chip, and beans and fish...because no peas available...? Where's the fish...? So I suggest that if the young ladies serving took a bit more interest in what they were doing, then the order would have been right ... ? Why .. instead they were more interested in the disrespectful hoody guys that were walking in and out ordering( yo yo bro) and there mother finally came in and paid ... on a plus I got the beans and I've done myself two rounds of toast.. not about the money it's about making sure that the customer gets what they want... ps the donner meat was cold. Won't be back.. not impressed, new business in the village needs support.. not me.. keep my fish that I payed for but didn't get.. on lighter note the beans were warm and complemented my toast. I would tap a circle to rate but you don't have a minus..? Maybe you should have. Have a great Xmas.

First time I have called into this 'New' Fish & Chip takeaway, it was very clean, tidy and friendly staff. Ordered Fish & Chips x 2. and was served with piping hot fresh cooked food. The fish had a very thin crispy batter over the white just flaking fish, accompanied by ample golden fried chips. What a treat, looking forward to my next visit.
