E ThirtyNine Restaurant and Bar in Brighton and Hove

The restaurant is extremely stylish and decorated with a lot of dedication. The owner and his staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. All dishes were very freshly prepared, arrived quickly and were really tasty. The fish was also fresh and, according to the owner, sourced locally. Starters - Tiger Prawns & Tomato Bruschetta Main courses - Linguine allo Scoglio (fish) & tagliatelle with beef, mushrooms & truffles Desserts - Tiramisu & Lemon Sorbet with Limocello We spent the evening there as part of New Year's Eve, the ambience was excellent. Value for money was very reasonable considering the truly high quality of the dishes. The most Magical Christmas Dinner! Haven’t had Christmas out for a very long time but for various reasons we decided to try it this year. We were a group of six, four adults and two children, 4yrs and 2yrs. When I say it was magical, I really mean it. The staff were just INCREDIBLE. They made feel so welcome to be part of their day. From the food ( scrumptious) to the drinks and the music , it all felt like one big celebration. The staff danced with the kids, nothing was too much trouble and everyone seemed so happy to be there. We didn’t want to leave! Kids weren’t charged and we paid 50£ a head for full meal including our drinks. But more than anything, it was the staff who made our day. The waitress’s were taking it turns to carry a baby for half the evening so Mum could have dinner. I’ve never had such an experience before. They have set the bar so high. Thank you all so much.

Dined there yesterday after 4pm with friends. Patrick was very welcoming & attentive but not obtrusive. The food was exceptional. My friend said the sea bass was the best she'd ever eaten & I recommend the fish croquettes. Wonderful Italian music in the background. Being a midweek afternoon, it wasn't busy but we were having such a lovely time we stayed on for cocktails. Be sure to have some cash with you to pay the tip as service isn't included. They really deserve it. We will definitely go back. Highly recommended.

We had an amazing night for our Christmas Dinner! Smooth reservation! Welcoming and attentive staff. Great Food! Comfortable private dining experience! We were given permission to freely operate the TV the way we wanted so we connected our phone screen to watch our videos and photos in real-time! If you are planning to do a karaoke it is very possible just speak to the staff. The manager is friendly and hospitable. We were able to do some games and enjoyed utilising the space they saved for us.

Easy to access by public transport, i came by car not the greatest place to find parking around that sort of area. Service♡ I was greeted by friendly and welcoming waitressess, i recommend booking online to guarantee a table on saturday. We sat upstairs and our host, if im not mistaken was the owner of the establishment, who was very helpful when it came to deciding what dishes to have. We did not have to wait long for order and waitor was always checking up on us. Atmosphere♡ Lovely decor , slow music playing in the background & candels on each table. The only i would change is having the lights dimmed a little bit to give it that extra cosy vibe when dining. THE PART YOU BEEN WAITING FOR .. Food♡ What we ordered. • small white house wine • nojito ( no alcohol Mojito • calamari • bruschetta • carbonara • Linguine allo Scoglio ( mixed seafood pasta •Tiramisu - shared between three people as we was not too hungry. Mojito was quite strong, to some that is not a problem haha. The nojito was ok. Fried calamari was delicious, it was not rubbery, batter was a very thin coating & fresh. Bruschetta was SO GOOD, the perfect portion, juicy cherry tomatoes , crostini was crunchy but not too hard just the perfect balance. The star of the show ♡ " Linguine allo Scoglio " It could be better then vapiano - quote by me Shocking i know ! As one of my favorite meals , i like to boast that ive had quite a variety of different dishes of pasta, so you could almost say im pro at this now. Now let me tell you about this dish ... fresh, Al denete, rich & flavorful is what i woukd describe. The perfect ratio of chunky tiger prawns, muscles & clams because i honestly hate when theres more of one thing then the others, sweet but savory taste and a very slight spice kick to it, the base sauce was not overwhelming everything just combined together so nicely. You cant go wrong with a creamy carbonara, all round perfect. Home made & made with love tiramisu was just the perfect sweet treat needed after all those beautiful main dishes, you can tell everything was made fresh and taken time with , i loved the taste lf the coffee in the tiramisu that complimented with sweet whipped cream. 8/10

Lovely experience at E39. The restaurant was quite empty as it was an early week night but it was still very cozy. The food was delicious, I can recommend the harissa mussels and my friends who had fish said it was cooked to perfection. Only minus is that it would be nice to have another vegetarian main option but the one that is there is also delicious. Eda (I hope I got the name right, Turkish waitress) was very welcoming and great fun. A really important member to the team as she made our night very enjoyable and we all left talking about how great she was! Thanks for having us, we will definitely be back !

Having dietary restrictions is incredibly frustrating, it puts a level of anxiety on eating out, not just because you’re worried if it’ll make you ill but also how uncomfortable it feels to be the “difficult” one in a group. This feeling is why it’s so important for restaurants to have allergen menus, menus marked with allergens e.g. gluten free/milk free/vegan etc OR at the very least the ability to quickly tell someone exactly what they can or can’t have. This is where E Thirty Nine is really lacking, with a severe milk intolerance it was painful trying to figure out what I could and could not eat and also feels really embarrassing. I’m used to having to settle for something I don’t necessarily want and usually seek comfort in things marked as vegan to avoid having to ask too many questions but there appeared to be zero vegan options. I settled on what I could and asked for fries which came overcooked and with what appeared to be aioli… knowing this is usually risky for me, it was only upon me asking if I could have it when the waiter returned 5 mins later, when it was quickly removed in a panic! You can tell they’re nice people, they’re trying and they are knowledgable about the food but it makes it very awkward and unenjoyable and in 7 years of dealing with this intolerance and going out to eat ALOT in that time, I’ve never had such a poor experience. Also not sure if we visited on a short staffed evening but everything was incredibly slow; drinks, food, the lot, even took 25 mins from requesting the bill to receiving it accompanied by a disgruntled host after we asked for the service to be removed but with no question as to why. Well, here’s why. Finally, huge pet peeve but never clear a plate when someone else is still eating.

Another place literally a stones throw from where I live but not been there before. We sat outside. I was dubious on the busy Western Road, right by the Holland Road junction, but actually OK. Our Front of House manager was superb - customer service 200%. The food was so much better than I expected - I had calamari, which was probably the best from a small establishment I've had recently. And chicken skewers - really nice and tasty chicken - you don't generally get chicken that tastes of much these days. So, two starters - reasonably priced and more than enough for lunch. And Peroni lager at just £6 a pint!! I didn't check the inside, but impressions from the outside fabulous.

I had a lovely lunch with my friend and my two children and it was delicious! Pat was so friendly and attentive, he looked after us extremely well and the kids loved him! 10 out of 10! Thanks Pat, we will definitely see you again soon!

We are a family of 5 and randomly picked E39 from google reviews for dinner last night. We are only in Brighton for one night and wanted some really good food as we were all starving. We were not disappointed. From the warm welcome by Patrick (the owner) as we first walked in to the farewell hugs and pictures at the end of the evening everything was absolutely superb. Half of us had the seafood Linguine and the other half had the Carbonera . It was so good the table was quiet as we enjoyed every bite. Patrick the owner takes great pride and care in picking the best ingredients, and the Chef and other staff give this same service. Thank you so much for the wonderful evening . 20/10 experience from all 5 of us ❤️ Ps : The Tiramisu was to die for. My son ordered it and once he got his and we tried it . We needed more!!!!! So good

I had lunch here with my partner and our two kids. We had a great time! The food was delicious, served in great portions (also for the kids - they have a kids menu!) and cooked at the last minute. The staff was very kind and professional. We had to wait a little for the food and they brought us some focaccia (for free) to help us cope with the waiting! 😍 We definitely recommend this place and will come back!

What an awful dining experience Had to wait forever to even get a first drink That was decent Got the starter of calamari which was over cooked and had no flavour, at minimum I’d expect some salt Got the spiced chicken, salad and chips for my meal as initially we came here due to the variety of menu on their website to sit down and find out it’s a 1/4 of what it said it was on the menu The chicken was very mediocre with the seasoning slapped on top and very large (I understand it said half) but it felt as though it just kept going on and was not stopping. Probably would've been nicer with a little less chicken and salad or something just to balance out the plate Then it came to dessert and asked for some dairy free options and he said there's some sorbet. I waited around 10 minutes, watched him rush around to then be served tirumasu and be baffled. we then confirmed I asked for a sorbet and he went in the back and realised they had none. I can't eat dairy so there's not much option overall for myself. we then got a bill of an insane amount over £100 (bare in mind my friend had prawns, steak and we both had a cocktail each) with a £10 service charge for poor service (besides from the lovely woman that was mindful that they were being slow when the restaurant wasn't too full but I understand sometimes it can be on there being less staff) Also we asked for the bill and watched him go back and fourth serving another table and looking at us from time to time to be given a bill that was crazy for the food and service provided. I won’t even bother discouraging anyone from going here being somehow it still has 4.8 stars but I’d say just be caution if you’ve had a look at the menu as it won’t be as expected and service is pretty slow. Before anyone even asks “did you let them know about your experience etc” no because having worked in the service industry long enough before that I’m well aware of the things that can happen behind the scenes to the food of a customer that voices their opinion, even if it’s nicely. I also saw who I feel is the owner or the chef raising his voice at the staff so didn’t feel like being the next. It’s my birthday in a couple days, so I came down to Brighton for a mini getaway and it’s my father’s death anniversary tomorrow, just wanted a cute meal out before the crazy stuff starts again but was disappointed, nevertheless we continue. Peace.

We happened upon the E Thirty Nine after a long and tiring day. What a delightful surprise. Staff very attentive and really pleasant. Food was excellent. The background music hit the spot with us, Brat Pack, smokey jazz and swing. The decor was also extremely stylish without being over the top. Really worth a visit.

Had a delicious set of tapas and drinks while dining outside. Patrick, our waiter, was a lovely chap with great recommendations. The steamed mussels were the highlight.

I have been in this restaurant twice. Nice atmosphere, Kind staff, especially Miss İrem and Miss Ebru was an amazing. Both of them were helpful. Outstanding service. Delicious sea food and Italian starters. I highly recommend this restaurant in Brighton.

Dropped in spontaneously. Patrick the host was friendly, welcoming and very helpful. Food was mouthwatering. The chicken skewers literally melted in your mouth, the greek salad was fresh and crunchy with the added bonus of whipped feta rather than cubes, bruchetta crisp and hot! All very good! 5 dishes to share and a couple of drinks for under £50 including the well deserved tip. Recommend!

It’s a joy to visit and we go there frequently especially when family or friends come to see us. Whether it’s lunch or dinner, it never fails to impress. The food is super fresh and the servings generous. At lunch today we enjoyed their ‘Small Plates’ menu which was wonderful - so much choice and each one was delicious and very well priced. Truly excellent, thank you to the owner (Eris) and the chef (Patrick).

We recently visited "E Thirty Nine" for the first time, and it was a delightful experience. The place has a nice ambiance, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. We ordered our drinks, and at the end, the waitress, April, surprised us by serving Limoncello to everyone. This thoughtful gesture perfectly maintained the Italian style and welcome tradition.

Well… a place to come and chill… service excellent as they just let you enjoy your time… food.. top notch… had a selection of 6 small plates… all of them well done and great tasting.. deserts … the tiramisu was better than mine… atmosphere.. calm relaxed and enjoyable… if I could rate higher than 5 I would… will be back… well done to Patrick and the team. 😊

April 30: The sun is out so we headed to E39 to try their coffee and cake offer. One of the better coffee/cake deals in Brighton and Hove! Salvatore was all smiles as he brought us our decent-sized cups of latte. The in-house baked Sicilian lemon cake was divine! Crumbly, with a lovely curd that wasn’t too sweet. I normally TRY not to eat an entire slice of cake but with my brownie, I did. If the sun is out (and even if it isn’t), come for a coffee and a very decent freshly baked pastry/cake 😀 or, their brunch menu.

We’ve been eating here for several months now, so ta still fairly new. The food is just superb, the service is excellent, we have stopped venturing further afield to eat, we stop at the bottom of our road and eat here. 100% recommend.

Day out with family of 7 people most of them teenagers, We had a lovely dinner at this family run restaurant most of us had steak and fish. The service is amazing. Then food 3 course dinner was absolutely delicious. My nephew is a very fussy teenager . But the chef made him very happy with the steak cooked to perfection. Thank you all team. We be back soon.

This has apparently been open for a year! What a gem. We hadn’t noticed it - thought it was still a vegetarian pizza restaurant (precious owners). Had a great meal. Freshly cooked Mediterranean food in a great atmosphere. Definitely our new ‘go to’ Italian. Thank you E39

After trying to find an Italian open for food at 4.30pm we can across this gem Beautiful premises, very lovely people, Luca was very friendly and helpful and delicious food. Nice glass wear, and cutlery and rather uniquely each pizza is served with its own pizza cutter. Comfy chairs and warm inside (some places need to turn up the heating, these guys nailed it) I had the Diavalo which very uniquely was made with Italian sobrisada which is a much more flavoursome sausage style ingredient, and one I am very familiar with, delicious and made it very special. The dough too is soft and tasty and served with basil which is my favourite My daughter had the ham and mushroom and was very happy indeed, the mushrooms not too large and there roasted well Fairly priced and parking found round the corner - definitely worth a visit!

Went there yesterday and the food and service was excellent. Would definitely recommend this place and I will visit again when I'm back in the area. As we were leaving they also gave my mum a free bottle of prosecco for mothers day - which was a very unexpected and lovely gesture.

Overall fine, but would not come back. Pasta was overcooked. We waiting for pizza about 20-25 minutes. The food was average.

Can’t say I’d recommend this place, or come back to be honest. I only booked in here based on the reviews but I wouldn’t agree with them. Booked in for dinner for 4 on a Sat. The place smells like fresh paint so I imagine it’s new. The service seating us was prompt but then took ages to come and take drinks orders. I had to look over at the barman before someone was sent over. We ordered 2 pizzas & two pastas. The pizzas were actually very nice, with good flavour and a nice traditional Neapolitan base & crust. Both pastas (tagliatelle ragu) were very meh - quite bland, flat flavour. A massive portion though, so very much quantity over quality. The service whilst attentive, seemed a bit unordered. I think three separate people came over to the table to ask how the food was. I totally get our assigned server coming over to check, but it’s like there was no coordination between the staff so they didn’t know who had been checked already. Overall I feel there’s better Italian to be had in Hove and Brighton, and the pizza wasn’t enough to bring me back, so I likely won’t return.

Overall a disappointing experience which we were surprised with given the previous reviews. Booked through their website for the pizza and wine deal but as soon as we got there they said the offer expired even though it was displayed outside the restaurant as well. They didn’t even try to honour it given the false advertisement and misleading booking. Long delay in getting our food which I would understand if it were busy but there was only one other table. When we complained, there was a big group of people (possibly the owners or their friends) who kept staring over at us afterwards which made it uncomfortable. Also wouldn’t trust it is authentic Italian as their “Italian spicy salami” was beef and I have it on good word from an Italian friend that it should be pork.

Probably the best roast I've had in Brighton, and wonderful service too.

We booked for a deal of any pizza and a drink for £15. When we arrived, the staff told us that the deal had ended despite this still being advertised outside the shop. After ordering a pizza and a steak, we had to wait for 40 mins for the food. The food was pretty decent but more expensive than what it should be given the misleading advertisement and service.
