We decided to visit here for food as we were passing which was the first time since the new owners have taken over and were happy to find it is as good as it has always been. Great food, reasonably priced, friendly welcome and service plus lots of options to drink what’s there not to like! If you are in the area definitely visit!

Stopped here for lunch today with my husband and two young grandsons, have been to this place on several occasions but not recently. My husband ordered fish and chips and I ordered the usual I have whenever I eat out, lasagne, garlic bread with salad leaves. We waited almost an hour for our meal although it wasn't that busy ! The lasagne sheets had a texture I can only describe as dry and floury and as for the garlic bread it was a white soggy mess ! The lettuce was nice. The fish was tiny and dry inside a huge batter and the chips were terrible ! We won't be returning!

Excellent! Been here several times now, excellent choice for all concerned, set in a nice quaint public house. Service very good indeed and the environment is always friendly and comfortable. Very good menu for vegetarians and vegans, large portions and very reasonably priced indeed. Advisable to book as one can imagine it's busy!

Amazing food. I opted for the mountain burger from the specials board and - as you can see from the photo - it lived up to its name! The whitebait starter was also delicious, as was the gammon, I'm reliably informed. The cask ale is very well kept and well served. Lovely pint of Butty Bach from Wye Valley Brewery. A very welcoming atmosphere, attentive staff and talented chefs! We love it here and will definitely return.

Fantastic food. We popped in on a Saturday afternoon. Portions were amazing for the main. Tasty and fresh. Service was very good too. However, £6.30 for 6 small profiteroles that were not freshly made does seem excessive. Also, the two chefs were walking to the other kitchen area which was fine. However, the older chef not only walked to the other kitchen 3 or 4 times. He walked to the bar area, went behind the bar and made a hot drink etc. again perfectly fine if his chef uniform was clean. His entire front was brown, grubby and stained, it was really off putting. The other chef had an apron on and was clean. If you’re going to walk about the pub / restaurant either change your outfit or cover up the stains with a clean apron. Really off putting and he walked out over 10 times during our meal. Want to clarify this isn’t a problem if his uniform was clean. Food amazing though!

Lovely local pub, didn’t eat but looked really nice. Could be really lovely, but..! The barmaid was very grumpy and offered no conversation, smiles, welcome nor any ‘hospitality’ quality of the ale was great, bar area could do with a lot of attention ‘warmth and welcome feeling, almost like the forgotten part of the pub! Will try again but hopefully the new landlords will make the bar area seating more warm and friendly!

Mary and Neil have turned the Dynevor Arms into the best pub and restaurant in South Wales. They are great supporters of the village and the village loves them. Neil is a great chef who cooks everything fresh, no Popty Ping just fresh ingredients. Neil is also supplying London Pride - the best beer in Britain (along with Bass.) The beer and the pipes are kept in tip top condition. We used to travel top Bath (Crystal Palace) Chiswick (Pride Brewery), Paddington Station (Bishop and Bear) and St Albans (Garibaldi) to get a decent pint of Pride, now we can walk to the pub in Groesfaen. He has also had a panel of wine tasters to chose a delicious Rioja. Mary is a wonderful hostess, so now we have the perfect pub. If there are any of you out there who actually appreciate good real ale you should make a pilgrimage to the Dyn, and go home by taxi.

Luckily we called in as the lunchtime rush had just calmed down. Decided to share a starter, to leave room for a dessert, Garlic mushrooms on a ciabatta roll were absolutely delicious. On the specials board were King Prawns in sauce, glad we chose as they were fabulous tasting and the sauce the best I have tasted so different from the standard sauces usually served with King Prawns. Again we chose the smashed burger which again was fantastic. Sadly however the portions were so big once again no room left for dessert, next time perhaps we'll start with dessert and work backwards as looking around the desserts served looked great. Service as always was great and look forward to our next visit .

We met here for a family gathering. I chose this place after doing some research into which restaurants in the area have some good vegan options on the menu. It is not easy to find places to eat that cater well to a vegan diet as well as satisfying the needs of the rest of the group but this place definitely does. I had the mushroom stroganoff which was absolutely delicious. The rest of the group really enjoyed their meat and fish choices too. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Only one criticism - As we left to go to our cars it was dark and the steep steps down to the carpark were in darkness, the area needs to have lighting as it is not safe as it is.

We had booked a table but were disappointed to see no social distancing. The cleaning after guests was perfunctory. No individual sachets with condiments just usual bottles lifted and replaced after table 'wiping'. The used cloth was left on display on a shelf. One member of staff, on her way to the kitchen, caught hold of the back of my chair then trailed her other hand along the shelf separating the conservatory. Only one way in and out although signage offered more. So called single use menus were replaced on the shelf, not only ours but the next table also. There was no contactless payment offered. The food was distinctly average, the usual tasteless potatoes, bullet style peas and passable carrots. We didn't feel safe or valued in any way. Such a pity. Great potential wasted in these parlous times.

Visited the Dynevor Arms this evening with family and was slightly confused about the way in which the current COVID guidelines are being implemented at the pub. Firstly when our party arrived we were shown where to sit by a female member of staff (No.1) oy to find we had been split between 2 tables apparently due to 'social distancing'....Next our drink order was taken by another female member of staff (No.2). We were then brought our drinks by another female member of staff (No.3) who barked at one of our party to remove the drinks from the tray for her.A short while later another female member of staff (No.4) then took our food order from us and a short while later most of our food arrived but was placed at the far end of one of the tables as apparently they could not place each plate infront of the correct patron due to.....who knows what, forcing members of our party to retrieve their meals or pass their food down the line like some bizarre pass the parcel. After finishing our food a male member of staff (No. 5) came to collect the empty plates and glasses and politely requested they be passed down the tables to him.At the conclusion of our dining experience the bill was paid and another male staff member, possibly the landlord, (No. 6) was on hand. The food was good, the pub clean and tidy and the staff in general were polite however the way they are implementing the current government guidelines left us all very confused. If they wished to cut down the risk to staff and patrons then maybe don't utilise 6 staff members to serve on 2 tables of a party numbering less than 10?Or possibly request that staff wear masks/ gloves?

The only positive was the friendly staff. Came here 2 years ago and can’t believe how dissapointing it was. The veg was rock hard, we waited 45 mins for main course after the starter. Really dissapointed. Won’t be going here ever again. It was £8.95 for a beef dinner which was rubbish value considering there was hardly any type of veg on the plate. Last year we visited the Dynevor for a joint birthday celebration having had good reports of it.The last time before that was nearly fifty years ago when it advertised freshly cut sandwiches. I called in with my young family but was turned away because the landlord of the time said that his clientele did not want children about the place.Times have changed. This year having enjoyed such a wonderful meal previously we had no hesitation in repeating the occasion. The Dynevor is perhaps just a mile off the M4,quite close to Cardiff. Many pubs when entering the restaurant era tend to denigrate the pub feature and push it rather to one side, but the entrance to the Dynevor is to a welcoming area, modernised but still very traditional, and comfortable and homely. It is still a place to meet, enjoy companionship and have a few drinks. The resaurant is roomy and very comfortable, the service freindly and first class, and the menu extensive and varied. All our meals were delicious with no cause for any complaint of any kind.As it was a joint birthday celebration my son and I were served our deserts decorated with a celebration candle. A nice touch. The Dynevor will certainly remain a port of call.

I moved onto the next reserved table for 2 along side ours, but i was informed we could not sit there as a party for six was coming in and there was no other table available.,so we moved back no problem..

First visit,, will definitely be going there again. Lvly local pub,, clean & friendly atmosphere. Advisable to book not to be disappointed. Ample car park,, disabled parking at front of pub. Promptly shown 2 table & ample time given to choose with staff pointing out special boards & any dietary needs. Food hot & delicious, & a good variety of desserts to follow. Great place. ( I had duck in housin & ginger 1/2&1/2,, husband had fish & chips,, then we both had salted caramel profiteroles! )

This is a big pub, with most of it laid-out as a restaurant. We didn’t eat here but there is a standard menu and a fairly large ‘specials’ board.

Quite cold in the conservatory as was a cold day.not a great choice of starters garlic mushrooms were distinctly average.and pricey.had scamp for the mains which were cold .best part of the meal was the desert a crumble with custard the only thing that came hot.the rest of the party wasn't overjoyed either.the booking was dreadful instead of saying we cook until 2pm asked for 12.30 no .1pm? No.would 12 be ok ? Yes it wasn't busy there but the rugby was on.wont rush back as the castell mynach isn't far from there and far superior

My family, three daughters, three granddaughters and my husband recently visited the Dynevor and had a very enjoyable lunch. My husband and I regularly have lunch there and we are never disappointed.

Amazing Sunday lunch, had the mixed meat, veg comes on the plate not in terrines which I like, kids had something off the normal menu. Service was fantastic everything on a tab and pay at the end, barman knew exactly what table we was on from the off. Prices very reasonable too. Will definitely be visiting again.

Heard very good reports on this place so decided to pop in for lunch one day. We certainly weren't disappointed. We were warmly greeted and shewn to a table and invited to choose from the fairly extensive menus. Food and drinks were ordered at the bar, the lady who dealt with me was very pleasant and helpful. We did not have long to wait for the meals which I must say were at the very top end of public house cooking. The portions were more than adequate and well presented and well cooked. The food was amongst the tastiest I have eaten for a pub lunch.

Food here is lovely, come hungry because portions are big and guaranteed to fill you up! The garlic chicken is fabulous. I particularly like the choice of accompliments, not everyone wants chips, so they offer new potatoes or jackets. Would highly recommend, great value for money!

We go to the Dynevor quite often. Lovely staff and always a good home cooked meal. They have a good variety of dishes but their corned beef pie is second to none. Always plenty of vegetables and potatoes and extra gravy if you want it.

We love the Dynevor Arms and have frequented there throughout the week and love the food. On Sunday we went for lunch and was a little disappointed. It was really busy and we should have asked for more veg but to be honest the staff were pretty rushed. But do we go again or sunday lunch? maybe = maybe not

Sandwiches bulked out with lettuce, tomato and cucumber, then info on the table telling customers, you have an hour at the table unless their not busy,,,more info on the table telling customers if they want the coffee and cake special , which is only on for an hour in the morning you actually only have 45 minutes so they can clear for lunch 😂. So while our sandwiches were ok at £8.50 each,we won't be returning it's not worth the journey to be watching the clock and having the threat of being asked to leave because your time's up at the table

Booked here for one night when travelling down to Cornwall. Was surprised at the lovely setting this place is at. Although we asked for a ground floor room due to my disability, we were given a first-floor room. Luckily, I managed up the stairs. It was a spacious room, with tea/coffee facilities and an ensuite bathroom. Staff were attentive, and the food was also a good standard. With a good size garden and even a dog walking field, this place was ideal for what we wanted. Breakfast the following morning was a decent size, served inside the inn. With eating outside the night before, I didn't see inside. It was a lovely old style pub inside, with the same great staff as the night before. If it wasn't for the room mix up I would have gave 5 stars.
