My wife and I were spending a couple of nights in Dolgellau and, never wanting to miss an opportunity for a good glass of wine, we were delighted to find this fantastic wine bar and cellar. Dylan and Llinos made us so welcome and were very accommodating in allowing us to stay a little while beyond official closing time. It was great to chat about their story and the vast selection of wines they had and that included some wines you can't regularly find elsewhere. Popped in for lunch as the owners (Gareth & Gina) of Afon Rhaiadr Country House had recommend it to us, we were disappointed. We arrived on a wet and cold day but the warm welcome soon warmed us up and raised our spirits. We had the Welsh Rarebit and homemade soup which were both lovely however the rarebit was the best we have ever tasted and was simply amazing. A great selection of wine and we enjoyed a nice bottle of Italy white wine. Everything was reasonable priced. We enjoyed our lunch so much my wife wanted to go again the next day however we didn't have time as we were returning home. My wife is already thinking of excuses for us to go back to Dolgellau so we can eat and drink here again

I visited here last night (01/02/2020) and we were very impressed. The food was extremely nice and the wine was superb. We were the weird Cardiffians that walked in speaking Welsh and English. Truth be told we were trying to fit in with the locals and as neither of us had spoken Welsh for sometime, this was quite a treat. I'm sorry if we put you in an awkward situation (one of our party was Portuguese) but putting our language skills to the test was a fantastic opportunity. Thanks for putting up with us - your restaurant was lovely!

This is billed as a wine bar and shop - it has a fantastic cellar beneath for those wishing to purchase bottles - but really it’s much more. We originally popped in looking for somewhere to have a late afternoon coffee, and found that it did light bites to eat and served all kinds of spirits in addition to wines. We liked it so much that we went back after dinner, when I was able to choose from a list of really interesting gins. I chose a Welsh distillery I had never heard of which turns out to be local to me - I found the gin very different to anything I’ve previously tasted. We had a long chat with the owner about small craft distilleries and he suggested other Welsh gins we might like to try and even gave us advice on visiting distilleries. Very friendly and laid back, if we were back in the area I would definitely make it my business to return.

This little gem is tucked away in a side street in Dolgellau but then most of the streets in Dolgellau seem like side streets. On a Saturday night when we were turned away by hotels, pubs and bistros in the town there was a warm welcome and space to spare at a wine bar called Dylanwad. It is a strange fusion of Welsh and Spanish. Indeed they have their own cookery book called Rarebit and Rioja which has won awards. The menu was limited with choices ranging from soup to Welsh rarebit, salads and platters. But all the brownie points come from the fact that all the food is produced on the premises a rare bonus in these days of Brakes and Elite.

It's a very special place. The home-made soups here are always brilliant, absolutely packed with flavour, and served with lovely breads & super welsh butter. First, note that this is a local hangout spot--you will hear Welsh spoken, which is great. The servers know their jobs well and are very friendly. I asked them the Welsh words for various things (gwin=wine btw) and they had no problem with my curiosity. I had several glasses of wine and some whisky (whisky=whisky btw). They have small bites to eat, so this is a great drinking spot (hence my admiration). I had the combination ("a little of everything") tapas plate. The soup is really good as is the fish and the Welsh cheese (esp. with a little crianza). The building is a few hundred years old, so this is also a historic part of Dolgellau.

A visit to Dolgellau is not really complete without popping into Dylanwad whether it is to have a delicious coffee, sample a bowl of their tasty home made soup with crusty fresh bread from the bakery across the road or if we are being really decadent a cheeky glass of whatever Dylan recommends. He really knows his wines and his enthusiasm is infectious and it is hard not to leave without seeing what new delights he has for sale in the cellar below. His wine tastings which we have enjoyed in the past are great fun too! This is a very friendly place and we always get a cheery wave when we walk past if have no time to pop in.

We always come here when we're staying in the area, and it never disappoints. It's an original, creative, artistic place, run by lovely people. Everyone's made welcome in the relaxed atmosphere, whether you're having a coffee or a bottle/glass of wine, or eating. They've kept the menu fairly small, locally sourced when possible, with very high quality. The wine selection is great, both in the restaurant and the cellar shop below. It's cool being able to sample a selection of wines before choosing. I enjoyed the excellent house champagne, sitting in the beautiful atrium watchful sunny Dolgellau life go by. And the homemade tomato, vegetable & bean soup, with artisan breads, was so good that, despite the generous portions, we had to order another. Then a nice lazy read of the paper, a browse in the wine cellar, and three good bottles 'to go'. If you're in Dolgellau centre, don't miss this special place.

Me and my partner were in Dollgelau this Saturday. We just came across this place by coincident really and thought to have a look inside for a glass of wine. We finally had a glass of wine and dinner and bought two bottles of wine from there wine cellar. The place really is a wine bar, restaurant with light bites such as olives, cheese and bread and a fantastic wine cellar. The place really is a gem, the staff very friendly and helpful. We even got tips of places and the best routes to go there which was so appreciated. Thanks a lot, your advise really was helpful for us the next day!! :)

Pleasant drink and tapas style platter in cafe style minimalist interior. I'm not enough of a wine connoisseur to appreciate the service on offer though.

Lovely friendly staff. As it's primarily a wine bar the food menu is limited but beautiful and not expensive. A very pleasant relaxing environment.

So good we've been back every day of our stay in Dolgellau. It's only a small place, and might not look much from the outside, but please pop in and try something! All staff are friendly and welcoming, the menu is great for light bites & sweet treats, and the drinks are delicious! Free nibbles are served if you're only drinking. Highly recommended.

Soups so good in this great half-cafe-half-vintners, that we ate three lunches there in a week, and one of us doesn't even like soup! It's also a tapas/wine bar in the evenings.

Visited this recently opened and totally refurbished wine bar with some friends for pre dinner drinks. We were greeted by the owner and he offered some excellent advice in helping us to choose the wine. The staff were all friendly and have a super attitude, just what is required when you are from 'outa town'.Please see the owners off sales offering. A very well chosen and constructed list of new wines with some old favourites. We will definitely visit this superb bar again---well worth the effort. This wine bar has the Porscheboy stamp of approval!!

Everyone gets a warm welcome at Dylanwad - it's a great addition to Dolgellau's town square. We always come by atleast once whenever we're in the area. On our last visit we had lunch in the sunny glass atrium, where you can watch busy life going on outside and sometimes even see someone you know and feel a bit like a local! The Chinese vegetable broth was superb, as was the generous helping of artisan bread and butter it came with. (The fresh herring were apparently superb too, marinated in sherry for a subtle, sweet flavour.) The house champagne is excellent, and there's a wine cellar downstairs if you want something to take home. All the staff are very friendly, and the building continues to be developed upstairs in pleasing and interesting ways. Worth a visit for sure if you're in town, or dropping by for especially, as we did.

This very old building has been most sympathetically restored and converted into a bar and eatery with a very convivial atmosphere and is full of character. Although having been there twice, I have not eaten any food, but noticed that everyone who did appeared to be enjoying what they ordered. My first visit was with a group of friends and my second as a couple. On both occasions we were made so welcome by the friendly owners and staff and enjoyed a few hours in lovely surroundings. All the staff were were smart and most accommodating. There is some very interesting art work on the walls and the history of the connection between Dolgellau and Patagonia was fascinating. Well worth a visit.

Met with a few friends here for birthday drinks, good selection of drinks and you have to check out the wine cellar! Staff are very lovely and well presented. The atmosphere is much better than the usual haunts and there are some spectacular rooms upstairs filled with ambience, also local art work line the walls. Sophistication with a twist on new and old in Dolgellau? Who would have thought. I've never eaten here but there always a lovely aroma of some sort of soup or food cooking away. Dylan and his wife are always very welcoming and accommodating with and requests.

We came to this wine bar/shop for a quick snack and a glass of good wine during the Sesiwn Fawr Folk festival. A great selection of wines by the glass (of course) but also tasty tapas platters to accompany the wines. Efficient and friendly bilingual staff ( diolch yn fawr genod Dolgelle!) and an interesting display of photographs on the wall. We liked the relaxing, cool vibe and th eclectic, unobtrusive music. Their cellar selling unusual wines to take home is also worth a look - including lots from Austria when we were there. Centrally located in the town centre

Having read about Dylanwad Da, we were determined to give it a try. As it was midweek, it closed at 6 I think - so we visited around 5.30 for a glass of wine after checking into our hotel. The wine selection was very good and there is a great wine store below the restaurant. We had a quick look at the menu and decided we had to try the goat cheese salad - this was delicious and with the freshly baked bread - the perfect accompaniment to our glass of wine. We will definitely go back - the standard of the restaurant renovation is fantastic and service was excellent.

The new Dylanwad Da is a lovely addition to Dolgellau's bustling centre. The building is intriguing, and nicely converted. The relaxed atmosphere means you can enjoy anything from coffee to a glass of champagne to a tasty snack (or dinner at weekends) and cake. The tables in the pretty glass atrium are especially nice. And downstairs there's a great wine-cellar. Dylanwad Da is a creative venture, with more unfolding. We've dropped in three times when in Dolgellau and really enjoyed it. Wishing them every success.
