Love the people at the pub but would have never been if it wasn’t for Hannah and quiz night best part of my week!!!

What a dump it’s like going back 200 years I was looking for spittoons around the bar, the 1960s carpet was held together with black tape Just go to the stars

We didn't know that had a fun day. The music was way way too loud, you couldn't hear yourself think let alone talk. Not a good experience.

I recently had Fish & Chips at the Dunkirk Hall Pub made by Marina & served by Leah. It was one of the best Fish & Chips which I have ever had. Service was great too.

Lovely staff!! Catered for my request and all the food was freshly made. My mum had a baguette and ate in one sitting as she enjoyed it that much - Very cosy pub too. Will definitely visit again. Thanks so much to the lovely ladies we were looked after by!!

First time ordering food from the Dunkirk and it definitely won’t be the last. The food arrived steaming hot within 20 minutes of placing the order and was plentiful and tasted delicious. Compliments to the chef 😋

Fantastic food, great portions, and so accommodating for vegan diet. Really friendly staff, definitely worth a visit, you wont regret it!

Pub - Dunkirk Hall, Moss Side, Leyland Leyland / Chorley border region bar set back from the main road with a difficult confusing bus service nearby (the main bus goes past one way, but not on the return journey though there isa bus stop not marked as out of service where you might expect to catch one). The pub sign declares it a John Smith’s Inn, though it is now a Greene King bar. The staff are slow and inattentive, with the barmaid serving me a pint though I plainly asked for a half (an error she did at least quickly fix). Limited range of real ales, a bare brick barn-like appearance marred by modern bg screen TV’s. Arthur Chappell

The hunters chicken was delicious, washed down with a pint of Hobgoblin, which was in fine fettle. A very cosy pub with informal and friendly service.

Stopped off on a bike ride to Blackpool. A welcome breakfast was on hand at good price.

So, we've just spent £41 on a takeaway. What a waste of money, only part of the order came, it was of poor quality to say the least. As for the salad, McDonald's have more on their burgers and that says a lot. When we phoned to ask for the missing item we got a flat no, what a joke, the lady on the other end was lacking manners, especially working in a place like that, and just hung up on us. Shame on you Dunkirk Hall.

Nipped in for a bite. Lovely lovely lovely bar maid absolutely adorable. Food tasty and chef went out of her way to makesure everything was OK.

The food was very good and reasonably prices, for 2 starters and 2 mains £30...Shame about the pub itself...needs a good clean the table was very sticky, needs refurbishing throughout, dirty torn carpet, the ladies toilets definitely need priority cleaning

I visited Dunkirk celebrating my dads birthday. I couldn't recommend enough! Very clean, Beautiful decor, 2010 hits in the background! The atmosphere was perfect for a family dinner. The food was spot on, superb portions and fairly priced. But besides the food, I must say the service was beyond expectations, the staff went out of their way for all of us, asked us if we needed more drinks whilst we ate, brought us sauce, more cutlery, we didn't lift a finger! Only for the food. It's little things like this that make a perfect experience and today was one of them. Thank you to one particular person, I didn't catch her name, she went above and beyond throughout service. Thanks to the team for making us feel welcomed.

An absolute cracker of a pub! Ultra friendly staff, Demi is the Queen of barmaids, goes above and beyond to make people feel welcome. Good pint in an historic 17th Century location (the former Lostock Hall). I'll be back! Thanks for having me.

Monday lunch - good food at reasonable prices - only us in at the time?

We were pleasantly surprised with the quality, which was much better than a carvery style delivery. Fresh veg and spuds, with a pig in blanket. The only disappointment was no cauliflower cheese left!

This pub has now become a friendly place to visit , compared to just over 12 months ago ,the staff are great ,the food is spot on , the only down side is its looking a bit tired

This pub 12 months ago may have been quiet, but it was spotless! I was disgusted going in today. The state of the hand dryer made me physically throw up as the smell was vile and that’s before I saw the filth. Smoking shelter was hideous, used to be so lovely to sit outside, and now buckets are full of fags, rubbish on top of tables over flowing with water. The dust on wooden chairs and shelves shows how little it’s cleaned. The smell from the kitchen of fat ( that needed changing ) was absolutely vile we had to sit outside. No interaction from bar staff, or manager sat there in their huddle. Was so rude, not even apology when we said something very obvious- I could have taken many many photos but sadly i wanted to just leave but il be sure to tag them and to send them to Heineken also! So disgusting!! When I first came in it was gorgeous,lovely lights, and lovely friendly staff with drinks and now sadly seems to be left to people who don’t care, same as the railway! Will not be visiting again. I hope management see This and change it fast ready for the nice weather as it’s a brill beer garden!

Amazing service from Leamè, Dan and Sarah! Wedding party went so smoothly and we had the best time! So friendly and accommodating.

we had our wedding reception here and honestly couldn't recommend the Dunkirk Hall enough. Dan was a massive help throughout the planning and made sure everything was in place for the day, nothing was too much to ask. The food was perfect and went down well with our guests. Big thank you to Sarah and Leame working on the bar until closing, we all had such a laugh with them. Thank you again for a fantastic night!

They put the gravy in a foil tub so it was spilled all over the food we ordered, gravy and chocolate cake do not go

Only been here for food in the day so can't comment on the nightlife etc. But can say the roast dinners are to die for! Huge, tasty, served up quickly, plenty of meat instead of it being padded out with veg. Plus usually there are 3 meats to choose from, or you can have all 3. Better than any of the local carveries by a country mile.

There was a very minor issue that was not the fault of the restaurant. They put it right immediately and food was amazing. Will be ordering again

I came here on a Sunday. Me and my partner had a roast dinner, it was very delicious. The atmosphere is warming and the staff are so nice. I would definitely come back again and would recommend this pub.

Fantastic meal for the price. Ordered a large roast with mixed meat, the portion was very generous. Didn’t know what would come with it so ordered a gravy however it wasn’t needed. Came with peas, stuffing, mash potatoes, new potatoes as roast, carrot and sweed, pigs in blankets. Fast delivery and friendly driver.

Got ignored so had a coke n walked. Crappie service. Never again

Chicken on burger extremely dry, like it had been pre cooked then reheated. Would explain why it was so fast. Burger bun burnt, chips soggy. Couldn't believe the quality for £10.50 £4.00 for just deep fried Hallumi no batter. Roast beef dinner, solid veg & soggy roasts on the outside & rock hard in the middle.

We visited early on a Friday evening. Dogs welcome. There were a couple of families with small children who were able to play in the garden, which even had an inflatable slide & tyre swing. Nice choice of typical pub food. If there's something you would like don't be afraid to ask. They had Schweppes tonic, which I don't like, but was offered fevertree or britvic . Excellent service by the welcoming staff

I have been a couple of times not had chance to go inside yet as we just sat out side as was lovely day and just was passing through to go for a nature walk nearby 👍 was a lovely out side in the smoking area though 👍

I’ve eaten here before and it’s been nice. Tonight however, took one bite from us and it’s straight in the bin. Cold and watery a cottage pie should not be and it tasted awful. Went back online to call restaurant and they weren’t on anymore. Shame because I had the same meal previously and it was lovely.

Should of took a photo ,The last time I came for food was like a McDonald's...very dissapointed ...But thus time was lovely well done lads 👦

The lasagne and salad was perfect. Tasty. The garlic bread was a bit overdone and hard but all together was a lovely meal

Only serving roast dinner (nothing for vegetarians). My 'gammon' was mostly fat, frozen veg, hard roast potatoes & gravy made from salty granules. Room was drab, noisy and very old-fashioned. I would not return by choice

This public house like many has gone through difficult times, especially through constant management & staff changes. But Covid-19 was a further strike against the pub's previously good reputation.Now New and Experienced management and staff have turned this establishment back into a nice respectable high standard public house with outside seating (for the nicer weather). So before dismissing because of previous reviews, go visit and judge for yourself.

Only been twice but will try and call in more often when passing lovely staff and management

When visiting the Dunkirk I was immediately greeted by one of the staff members. Her name was Laura, our drinks orders were taken straight away and brought out so fast it was great. She was a very attentive, paid close attention to all tables and was always polite. The Food came out in a very fair time and was well portioned, tasted great and most importantly very cheap for how nice it was. I would definitely recommend The Dunkirk ten times over any pub in the area as it is always a great experience each time with the staff doing everything possible to help us enjoy ourselves.

Visiting this place when we still have to eat outside it became abundantly clear that the owners just do not give a toss about providing any facilities to make the customer remotely comfortable. The last time I visited was years ago and it was just awful. I heard the place had changed hands and I was desperate to eat out. But not that desperate. A picture of a covered hut on Facebook made me think the pub had actually sorted out some shelters but when we got there, there was one shelter already in use (although we had booked) and the rest was take your chances on a picnic bench on a cool, windy day with a chance of rain. So we had a drink and then grabbed this ‘hut’ when it became free. To our horror, it was actually a smoking shelter. It was full of fag ends, it stunk and it had a grotty, filthy table. There was one heater, the other not working. This was despite the fact the FB page declared proudly on 29 April “we now have heaters”. This pub actually expects people to eat in the smoking shelter? If we had not already ordered, we would have left at this point. We went back to our picnic bench and our food came. My mum’s curry was stone cold and dry and her “poppadums” were from a packet of crisps. She sent it back. My veggie burger was actually okay but when I questioned the lack of onion rings as mentioned on the menu I was told that as I had said I wasn’t bothered about relish they presumed I didn’t want onion rings. ????? I never mentioned relish! Why tell lies? And don’t get me started on the non existent side salad either. Without doubt, all three meals came straight from the freezer. Avoid this utter traversty of a pub at all costs.

After the sad departures of Judy, we were met hostility. We greeted the staff who responded with miserable face and short, almost annoyed responses. The staff had no idea the prices of drinks, were unprofessional in manner such as not wearing face masks behind the bars when they were from different social bubbles, they didn’t provide a place to collect glasses such as a table instead collecting them from the table and ignoring the two meter rule, at the end of the night we walked out infuriated with the quality of service we indured during our time here. I would not recommend to anyone who expects a nice drink or an amazing atmosphere

Freindlt staff, good selection of drinks and the pub is amazing, proper old pub feel with low oak beams and slate floor! A proper pub, would thouroughly recommend!
