Dumplings & Baos in Lambeth

Unfortunately they didn’t let me and my partner in as we didn’t have a booking, or so they said. However the family of white people 2 adults and a child behind us, who also had no booking were welcomed in. I unfortunately needed a bit of time process what had happened to us before I could write this review- disgusting behaviour!

My son saw this place online and told us we must visit during our visit to London, so glad we did, Booked in advance by calling (highly recommend as many were turned away), warmly greeted as we arrived, we immediately felt at home, So many amazing options on the menu, the smells coming from the kitchen were divine, Orders quickly taken, the lady was so knowledgeable, happy to make recommendations, We ordered far too much as couldn’t decide, Prawn and Scallop dumplings, Pork Dumplings, Prawn Toast, Sweet and Sour chicken, Chicken Chow Mein and Special fried rice, all absolutely delicious, so fresh and great value for money, with the obligatory Prawn Crackers, Couldn’t resist the Quarter Duck with pancakes, add four diet cokes and the bill only came to £74!, It’s a long way to come for a Chinese, but whenever we’re in London we’ll definitely be back, Amazingly friendly staff too, the lady was genuinely interested in our son’s visit to Poland, and as he recommended this place, said we must return with him in tow next time, we certainly will.

Came in here on a whim when looking for somewhere to eat. The service was really great - quick to have our order taken and the food also came really quickly. We had the Thai green curry and sticky aubergine, both of which were delicious. Two mains, two rices and a drink came to less than £30 (including service!) which we thought was brilliant value. Would recommend!

This place is so small and intimate it made the perfect setting for a good old catch up with your partner and friends. Me and my friend we ordered a range of food off the menu and to our delight they all were superb. I booked this restaurant from seeing a post on Instagram about this place and I must say I 100% agree with the review the food is tasty, it’s quick And cozy, I will definitely be back soon. Also the price isn’t too bad for the two of us and the amount of food we ordered. Our total was £60 which was really good and bringing our own alcohol worked out well which is where we saved money.

Amazing food. Great value. Was really difficult to book though. You have to call after 2pm Wednesday to Saturday and at least a week in advance.

Cheap cheerful and delicious. Service is great - I was initially concerned when we arrived to a locked door. When it was opened I explained we had a reservation. The door was promptly closed in our faces while he went off to check. But I needn’t have worried- he came back with a warm welcome and after that it was all grand.

Amazing dumplings and baos. Even some expensive restaurants in London I’ve tried cannot compete when it comes to dim sum.

Great find! Food was delicious, cool little setting and really authentic tasting. Good value too. It’s BYOB so you can grab some beers at the shop down the road. Sticky aubergine dish was a highlight!

Hidden gem in Clapham. The food and the service will make you feel all warm inside! Highly recommend. Everything is very tasty.

I visited here for lunch with my friend recently and had a great experience - I was skeptical at first as they didn't have any vegan options, but they said it wasn't a problem to substitute any non-vegan ingredients. I had the Korean special fried rice with miso and tofu, mushroom dumplings and vegetable spring rolls - it was the most delicious meal I've had in ages! Amazing (fast) service and very reasonable prices too - will definitely visit again :)

Found this place on Tripadvisor looking for somewhere to eat near Brixton. It's a fairly inconspicuous looking place but the food was so, so good - flavours were amazing, everything was cooked perfectly, and portions sizes were generous. Highly recommended the salt and pepper aubergine which was divine. We shared two starters (salmon dumplings and mushroom baos) and two mains ( black bean tofu and s&p aubergine) plus rice for less than £40. Highly recommended.

Have just had a beautiful meal here. We are visiting London for the weekend and staying in the area so looked for local restaurants and the reviews led us here. They didn't disappoint! We had 2 portions of steamed dumplings (thai green curried salmon and the king scallop and prawn) , a portion of wild mushroom baos, salt and pepper ribs, prawn spring rolls and the braised pork belly. Every single item had a beautiful balance of flavours, each mouthful offering the depth of all the fresh ingredients, and cooked to perfection. Service was attentive but not intrusive, and friendly and we honestly can't fault it! We had to eat early so the restaurant was quiet, but we overheard a few phone calls where they had to advise they are fully booked for this evening, so their popularity is clear and we are so glad we booked early! Thank you Dumplings and Baos! If we visit London again you can bet on the fact we'll be back!

Had a lovely visit with some friends last night. The food was unbeatable and tasted delicious and the service was great. Can’t wait to come again!

Ate here with my partner as we were walking from Wandsworth to Brixton. Really pleased we found it because they have a unique spin on traditional dumplings and a range of Chinese cuisine. The dumplings are wrapped generously, with a thick coating of dough encasing the delightful treats inside. They have a good range of gluten-free dumplings, too, which was greatly appreciated. The star dishes for us were the salt and pepper aubergine and the caramelised pork belly. Both top notch and we could have ordered and eaten double on desire alone! The bao buns were fluffy, moist and full of flavour. There were some yummy looking cakes and macarons available, but we didn't try these. Staff were so friendly and helpful, being respectful of Covid precautions etc. There was a young family dining and they had a high chair provided and the kids seemed to be greatly enjoying their dim sum and noodles!

A great find! I booked a table here on a whim after seeing the pictures of the buns on the TripAdvisor page and I'm so glad I did. My sister and I are big Asian food fans and these were some of the best bao buns I've ever had! The staff greeted us at the door and the service was great. It's a small intimate space but we never felt pressured or loomed over which is a big plus for me as a pretty socially nervous person. The charcoal chicken buns were fresh and soft and huge too! Would 100% recommend

The best naps/ Chinese meal we’ve had. Definitely ordered too much (portions are generous). It is BYOB although they serve soft drinks and tea.

This is the best dim sum I have tasted anywhere in the UK and Hong Kong. We ordered about 12 small dishes and each one was delicious. BYO alcohol is a plus !!! Friendly staff and excellent service.
