A great local boozer. Friendly staff and great foot. They also have some great entertainment on. Parking nearby. I would recommend.

Brilliant, went for food tonight and nothing too much trouble to adapt the menu to my gluten free and lactose intolerant diet. Great welcome, good food and fabulous price, no frills, plenty of taste, freshly cooked and piping hot. Good Luck with this new venture you are providing great food at a great price.

Fantastic local pub. Food is very good. Stayed nearby for long weekend and was greeted like a local. Very friendly and a great atmosphere and good beer.

The food at the Duke is fantastic. The fish and chips needs renaming whale and chips due to the generous portion size and the rhubarb and custard crème brûlée was one of the best desserts I’ve ever had (and I’ve had a few🙈). We’ve also tried a number of the bar snacks - everyone was delicious. Next on our list is Sunday dinner. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Really look forward to attending the weekly pub quiz here, which Andy does a great job of hosting along with extra games of play your cards right and what's in the box. Sue makes a lovely supper that's included in the price - the chips are fab! She's such a kind lady and always brings out alternatives for vegetarians too. Cosy atmosphere with a nice view from the conservatory/outdoor area on a warmer day. Wish I'd started visiting sooner!

We went here to see a live band as to which it was a very very good band was called (kindred) they were great only a small pub but the staff could have been a bit more welcoming

Easily become our favourite local, great atmosphere, staff are welcoming and the food is delicious. Will continue to come at least once a week 😬🤣

Since it's changed hands, this pub is so lovely! Such a welcoming atmosphere, staff are warm and friendly and always give a fuss to my little dog! Drinks are really well priced and tonight we had food which was absolutely gorgeous! Was home made and fresh and came out piping hot. Could not fault it. Such a cosy atmosphere, been enjoying coming here on an evening and will continue to come back!

We were made to feel really welcome. We went into the pub to meet some friends. We got there early. Despite this the staff opened the kitchen. The fish and chips were to die for. Lovely food and service.

We went on Friday early evening and the place was buzzing and service was excellent. Good beer and wine selection but Sancere should be selling for £30-35 like other similar bars and restaurants in the area. The Tapas is authentic and excellent quality although some dishes like the sour dough bread and pigs cheek are over priced for the portion served. We would visit again though because overall we had a great night.

Newly refurbished and a great menu of Tapas food. Easily 5 star quality and head and shoulders above other local eateries.

Visited recently during the nice weather, sat outside on the decking and ordered a selection of tapas dishes. All of which were great! Renovation been carried out to a high spec, a great addition to the area.

Lovely welcoming atmosphere, was buzzing without feeling too noisy or crowded. There’s a great little beer garden out back for a drink before dinner. Ordered the Padron peppers, prawns, chicken wings, belly pork skewers and patatas Bravas. Have to say the chicken wings are genuinely the best I’ve ever had, and the prawns and patatas bravas are better than any other restaurant’s that I’ve tried!! Recommend ordering all of it. The wine list is also amazing, has my favourite on there, Sancerre, and the house white is also really delicious. 10/10

Fantastic pub friendly restaurant and staff

02/09/22 - We went here on a Wednesday evening at 7pm. We arrived early but were seated straight away without a problem. Front of house and bar staff were really welcoming and friendly and our drinks order was taken straight away. The food was incredible. Of course, as always with tapas, we ordered numerous dishes which arrived throughout our sitting. Each dish was beautiful. Fresh and tasted phenomenal. Huge compliments to the chef. We particularly enjoyed the prawns, ordering a second portion because we enjoyed them so much. Each dish was just as good as the other, cannot fault the food in any area. Surprisingly we made room for dessert, we ordered the cheesecake which was a 10/10. Waiting staff were great, checking things were okay, if we wanted any drinks etc. Overall an amazing experience here, we will definitely be returning, likely very soon to try even more dishes!

Went to the newly renovated restaurant and bar (now Tapas) last night 1st September,Warm welcome from Matt and staff. Tried a variety off the menu and really enjoyed everything. Timothy Taylors landlord 👍Will definitely go again. Well worth a visit.

Walking through the village, started raining so popped in for a drink and shelter. Original retro interior. Nice atmosphere, however the pint(s) we had were flat and uninsprational. Would definitely go back and retry.

Home cooked chips, delicious home made pie of the day. Excellent food, Excellent service. Staff polite and friendly. Not very often you go to a pub or restaurant and they make you feel welcome and serve amazing food. By far the best pub food I've ever had. My partner also said the same thing. Would happily travel back from Hyde, Manchester just for lunch/dinner again. top marks :)

On one of my walks on Sunday ( 21/7/19) and called in the Duke of York in Stainland.... A nice little pub but no WIFi at the moment, enjoyed a nice couple 🍺🍺 of Elland Brewery's Summer Breeze 4.6% pale ale , now here's a thing , I don't like pale ale .....I'm more of tetley type of man...but this was excellent ....I highly recommend it .... The pub was nice the staff great , in parts I wondered if it was about to undergo a refurb ... I will be calling again when I'm walking in that direction....👍😁 xkxxx

Always a friend atmosphere, Annie, Ben and Ian are always up for a chat, and know everyone. drinks are reasonably priced, and the food is top notch

Beer good, to much effing and jeffing and a near fight outside. Not as family friendly as it is to be. More of a working mens club feel.... Shame for a local pub.

Just back from Duke of York garlic mushrooms washed out and a well done steak that you couldn't get through. Not the best 1st experience. Andy.

Went tonight for our tea. I had giant yorkshire with a massive sausage & mash. Boyfriend had homemade burger & chips. Staff friendly, food good, great mid week meal.
