Had the greatest experiences bar service with a smile! Always a great atmosphere and jack and Brad are the boys and always will be! Period

No one behind the bar. Looked around, no response. It isn't the first time this has happened. You have to go looking for someone to serve you. Unfortunately I couldn't find anyone today. Waited 5 mins then went elsewhere.

The welcome was very warm. We we served with excellent food. The portions were generous to say the least. I would not hesitate to recommend this pub.

Esto se ha convertido en un lugar frecuentado, ya que cada vez la comida es de buena calidad y muy coherente y con una sonrisa. Tenía el sobresaliente por la primera vez y fabuloso. Porción muy generosa y deliciosa. Pedimos una porción más grande de ensalada en vez de patatas fritas y no era problema, que era de agradecer. Hay una buena selección se mimada, pero este y los Scampi son definitivamente más destacados.

Visited and sat in the beer garden which is nice and quiet and a great sun trap. The food was delicious and great value for money, great portion size and piping hot. Will definitely be visiting again.

The pub isn't easy to find and situated down a small steep hill but it's well worth finding.It's a very typical village pub with a warm welcome, lovely range of beer and great value homemade food.The beer was well kept and the food was great and very good value for money, it's a real locals village pub and well worth a visit.

Decided to eat out at our local today and as ever the meal was beautiful.Will and Kate the owners are lovely pleasant people and can't do enough for you.The food was as usual beautiful...........but then again it always is I would definitely recommend to anyone who asks for a place to eat.

Stopped here for lunch after visiting the viaduct. Beer and cider were cold.Had the curry with rice and chips. Just a bit spicy. People also had fish and chips.

Stopped here for a bit to eat whilst awaiting a train home had heard the food was very good.Well we never got chance to find out it was leading up to the weekend quite a few in there we thought we would order drinks first we waited and waited whilst the bar staff chatted and messed around among themselves even what apeared locals were grumbling eventually we were served whilst debating about food a few younger persons came in and there seemed to be a disagreement between a staff member and a customer don't know what a bout couldn't hear for the noise but the attitude towards the customer and language ws disgusting no matter what the promblem was . We decided not to bother and move further up the road the atmosphere seemed more like an unruly youth club ! We went into the hotel Wynnstay pleasent staff lovely food and peaceful .

All of the staff are extremely friendly, a wide selection of lagers, the food is incredible and the portion sizes are VERY generous, at a fantastic price. Went there for sunday lunch today with family and as I'm a vegetarian, I had a vegetarian lasagne made specially, which was delicious! Highly recommend anyone in the area to try it out :)

We have been here several times for family get togethers so we thought Christmas dinner would be good. We were not disappointed, once again superb food, excellent service. Staff are always very attentive, polite and friendly. We were a group of 12 but no problem, everything came out exactly as ordered and together .always a warm friendly ambience, a good selection of drinks and everything reasonable priced.

Dropped in for lunch during the week. If you are not local, easy to miss this little pub as it is down in a dip and off the main road.Very small lounge, but what it lacks in size the place makes up for in offering a good selection of pub classic bar meals. Excellent meals (scampi and a gammon) - food hot, good portion and tasty and all at exceptional value for money.Overheard (as you do) three people commenting on the Liver & Onions being the best they have ever had and this is all home made.Not tried the Sunday lunch yet, but definitely will be calling again.

Called at lunchtime today as had hour between trains in ruabon and this was nearest, if you are coming from the station turn left then immediately right less than five mins walk. They are not trying to be a gastro pub which we are all sick of a burger with a cocktail stick in for £15 . Small traditional pub that seats 20 lunch menu was nothing more than £7 ' food was excellent we had gammon egg and. Chips scampi chips peas garlic bread white wine and cider for £18. 2 large glasses of wine and you have rest of Hardy's bottle free and pint £2.50 .they have a very cheap traditional Sunday lunch which I would think was like your mums. 2 ladies next to us had liver and onions and as older ladies said it was better than there own. The negative review if they can only seat 20 book ! There was a notice at the bar to say please book 01978 810165, Duke Street RuabonLL14 6DE. Good luck to a young chef and stay traditional !

We attend this pub regularly for a Sunday lunch, and I must say, we are never disappointed. The portions are good, the food always fresh and home made, as well as reasonably priced. Would highly recommend ... but best to book first as very popular.

Me and my sister when to go for lunch here, we waited outside for 10minutes with our sons one 9months old the other is 2 years old. When they opened the doors and let us in the owner will turned to us a said we have to wait to order food because he had a table of 20 booked and he was serving them first so we would of had to wait for everyone to arrive, get their drinks, then look at the menus and finally order then wait for food to be cooked and served before we could even order. If this is the case then this PUB should be bookings only!!! We were there ready to order when only five out of the twenty had actually arrived, we would of eaten our food by the time they had all and ordered drinks arrived.

It was my friend's grandmother that suggested we should have the food in The Duke because it was apparently THAT good. And she wasn't wrong - oh boy! It's not a Weatherspoons, but damn that food was fantastic every time. Sticky BBQ ribs, fish and chips, scampi, a burger and chips, the traditional fare of good, hearty pub grub at its best.The road going down to it is quite steep and my mother isn't the best at steep hills. We managed just fine getting down there but if you're staying at the Wynnstay (don't recommend it, read my other review) and need better access I'd suggest going the long way around and take the second left into Duke St because it loops around. But that's just a small nitpick I have, honestly. Also bear in mind bars aren't really my scene and we didn't go outdoors because they were after-all evening meals.To summarize: Fantastic food, wonderful atmosphere and friendly staff.Cute dog as well!
