We were on a charity bike ride, and had organised with Julie the Landlady for lunch. Julie and her team were magnificent. Their hospitality and kindness were second to none. We can't thank them enough for their support. I thoroughly recommend the Duke of Wellington.

We stayed over here in our camper van we were met with a lovely welcome from hanna who looked after us all night, great food and filling so much so we struggled to drink more, lovely atmosphere and hanna made us feel so at ease with our 5 month old springer spaniel, she offered us water for her and gave her doggie treats too If we are back in the area will definitely be back as I believe hanna will be Taking over the running of the pub in a couple of months time, good luck for the future and thank you

Stopped here for the night after being at Cheshire Oaks. Free to stay. We stayed in the car park but there is also a small field out the back of the pub. Couldn't have felt more welcome from the landlady Shelley and very accommodating. Fully refurbished pub, great food (Full English can be pre ordered for overnight stays) and dogs welcome. All within walking distance to post office, mini market, bakery and hairdressers. Highly recommended

We spent a lovely day/night here. We parked our campervan on the carpark, with lovely country views and views of the mersey. We were made very welcome by the lovely staff, Shelley and her beautiful dogs from the start! We spent all day at the pub, reasonably priced drinks and tasty food. Was a quiet overnight stay. Sunday dinner the next day was lovely. This is definitely on our list of places to visit again! Thanks for having us!

Recently refurbished and looking great. We have enjoyed quite a few Sunday lunches, and had a gorgeous Christmas dinner here. It’s cozy and has a really friendly atmosphere, which is why I chose it for the venue for my husband’s surprise birthday party. Shelly (the landlady) did a lovely buffet and everyone had a fantastic time. They’ve got loads of different gins, so it was rude not to try a few. The pub is a little ‘out of the way’, but well worth paying it a visit. I’d highly recommend it as a party venue too, we had about 50 guests, and it was just the right size. They have a bar area with a dart board and pool table, so there’s something for everyone. Thanks for making my husband’s birthday a truly special one!

Passing through on a nostalgia trip to the area, we stopped for lunch mid-week. Really friendly and accommodating staff. We had a quick sandwich and pint which was good value, good size portion. Looks like a great local venue with lots going on if you live nearby.

Called on ad hoc visit. Very warm welcome, atmosphere was relaxing. . Staff tried to accommodate my gluten free diet. Few teething issues. Potatoes were cold and needed reheating, Yorkshire pudding not gluten free. Prefer gravy in side jug.not over meal. These were swiftly resolved. The owner reassured me that they are going more allergy friendly.? I will definitely give it another try in the new year. I personally would prefer to eat in restaurant and not the bar as I am not overkeen on dogs whilst dining. Overall very positive. Wish new owner every good wish for a successful venture.

This is a newly furnished Punch Tavern and is nicely done inside as you would expect. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. No cask beers were available, we were told they hadn’t sold fast enough and were off. My first choice from a somewhat limited menu wasn’t available so we both went for fish and chips, a good test of a kitchen. The fish portion was very small and over cooked in a mass produced batter. The chips were very unusual, a bit leathery and soft. The staff were very attentive but the pub was very quiet. Unfortunately we won’t be returning.

Myself and my friend had arranged to go out for a meal. We decided last minute not to venture too far and opted for our newly refurbished pub The Duke. Well from the moment we arrived we were welcomed by the lovely Landlady Shelley. With a smile and within 5 mins we felt as if we had known her for yrs. So so nice. We had Cowards Chicken Pie, Chips & Peas also we both had a pudding . Gorgeous. So I think we will be going more often. Everything about the place is Welcoming. Very much worth a visit.

We've lived in Elton for nearly 5 years and always travelled out for food and drink as the local offer was poor. That was until The Duke of Wellington opened in June 2019 under new management. Its had a tremendous face lift, its clean bright and beautiful. There's a great food menu with fairly priced/portioned and fantastic meals and cakes. Its family orientated and pet friendly which creates a really lovely atmosphere, added to that an ever growing local activities schedule and they're on to a winning combination. Its really wonderful to have such a lovely local on the doorstep and I would highly recommend a visit here. I'm just looking forward to trying out their new Sunday lunch menu. Keep up the great work team!!!!

Since the Owners sold up and retired. This pub has had a face lift which is lovely. However the poor people who have it now seem to be struggling which is a shame. Needs a helping hand from the Brewery and needs to serve hot food too. So come on we want our local back.

Attended Saturday night quiz. Arrived at 7:00pm. Started with a glass of red wine and Mediterranean platter followed by a to die for cheesecake( all food freshly cooked by Jason ( chef ) and the team. Wolfed the cheese cake down and realised I hadn't took a picture. Had a few more vino's during the quiz along with some banter with Jason and the regular customers. All tables were booked and nice to see a full house. Made a change to the average Saturday night and will certainly do it again. Would recommend to call in prior for some brekky or lunch to book quiz any day before or on Saturday. Quiz moved on quicker than your normal pub quiz which was great with the light banter and no typical interruptions from pub scene. Didn't win the quiz but enjoyed trying.

Stumbled on this wonderful cafe as we were on our way home from a camping trip. The staff are incredibly friendly and were so welcoming and kind to my 5yo daughter. The food was amazing, we both had the breakfast and my daughter had a lunch box which she loved and I thought it was great value, when we went inside to pay we couldn't not buy one (or two) of the amazing cakes. So delicious. Thank you :)

Our favourite place to come for brunch after football. The team, as always, went above and beyond with the orders for our family (all with different dietary requirements). The boys had the classic big breakfast with local products at a great price. I tried the weekend special eggs Benedict and it was amazing. The boys filled their boots. The girls enjoyed new things. The doorstop toast alone is worth the visit. Sadly, no room for my favourite one the menu - parsnip cake, but the cake-away option meant I could enjoy it later. We brought a friend for their first visit and she was blown away.

Not religious at all but like other reviewers found this true OASIS when looking for refreshment in Chester Just great, lovely staff and clientele and great quality and value coffee and cakes... Interesting selection of books, gifts, cards etc Would use regularly if we lived locally Staff say they may have to relocate soon due to "commercial development of the site" Surely the Church which is not short of funds can provide an alternative venue for this wonderful place which probably does more for spreading the religious message than many more traditional churches etc...something in the Cathedral Precinct maybe?? Good luck to you all and God bless ( if it helps)
