We called in for a Sunday lunch and we were greeted by friendly and helpful staff. The 3 course lunch was beautifully cooked food for all 3 courses. It was an excellent, home cooked meal using excellent quality, fresh ingredients. There was also a first rate liqueur coffee. It was one of the best Sunday lunches we’ve had at an unbeatable price.

I had several dinners and lunches when staying at the hotel. The dining hall is sumptuous. The ceiling is beautiful. The great fire place gives possibility to enjoy a romantic dinner. Staff professional and clever. All the food I enjoyed was cooked to the highest standards. Good selection of wines and drinks. Visit the bar and relax. The bar equally nicely decorated. The restaurant and the hotel a few minutes drive from Burnley centre. Good value for your money. Enjoy your meal in relaxing family atmosphere.

Our daughter booked us for Mother's Day lunch and we enjoyed the special menu. The quirky "Fawltey Towers" 'venue added greatly to the special experience - it's the antidote to gastro pubs and chain restaurant! Highly recommended. I was worried that the food would fall short because of the quirky venue but the quality, quantity and presentation of the food was superb. We had a wide variety of starters, mains and beautiful desserts and every portion was a winner. My congratulations to the chef and team at Dugdales - you have three very happy customers. An observation, often high end, beautifully presented food comes in meagre portions - these were perfectly proportioned and generous!

Brilliant all round experience for 8 adults + 2 infants , place itself is unique in the area , staff really friendly & attentive . Menu small but that wasn't a problem , everything appealing & the 2 course / 3 course option on Sundays is terrific value . Best yorks puds we've had with tasty pots & veg . Minor gripe : beef not pink enough but certainly not a spoiler . We have been before , we will be returning again . Thanks all involved

We stayed at the Rosehill House Hotel for 3 nights in September and decided to have a meal on the first night in the Dugdale Restaurant. We ordered food from an extensive menu. It was freshly prepared and was very tasty, served by friendly, efficient staff. We decided to have wine to accompany our meal, which we chose from a wide selection on the wine list. As we enjoyed our meal so much we decided to use the Dugdale Restaurant on the last night of our stay. We most certainly can recommend this restaurant and would have no hesitation in visiting it in the future.

This place is a hidden gem. You have to visit to believe it. The owner is so passionate about her hotel she tries everything to please. Ideal for a drink. Perfect setting for a wedding or any special occasion. Perfect for lunch or evening meal. On a sad note they will cater for anything.

We had been seated for five minutes when we were asked if we were ready to order, we asked for a drink and a few more minutes to peruse the menu. We asked for a glass of white wine and water with our seafood starter, our starter arrived very quickly and after 10 minutes the wine to accompany had still not arrived, hence the starter was cooling. As it was a tempura batter it became very flat and greasy which was a shame. The menu had stated scallops (plural) however there was only one present! A gentleman then wandered around with a tray of drinks which he initially delivered to the wrong table. My main course was fine except the slices of chorizo were clearly burnt, I did not touch it but as the gentleman who appeared to be the drinks waiter passed by I informed him:'Excuse me my chorizo is burnt', he responded with' That's ok you can just leave it' (not the reply I was for!), It reminded me of when I was five years old and did not want my vegetables! So I endeavoured to ask him if he could get this changed and he said he would ' tell the girl'. Another staff member came and promptly returned with a newly cooked uncut piece. My husband ordered brisket which overcooked until it had melted away and was very disappointed. Even though my main course was acceptable my husabnd thought his was teribble but no staff came to check on us until we put our cutlery down half an hour later. Staff were not attentive. My husband complained, the male who listened attentively apologised for our experience but no chef, nor manangement followed that up so we are not sure if our feedback reached its destination. It then took half an hour to receive our bill.

Visited with my family 8 for Xmas Dinner paying £69 each. The place is worn and run down, the food.. I thought was delicious! Very enjoyable however one guest had a mass of 6-7 blonde hairs on top of her food, this was rectified quickly and a fresh plate brought. Another meal was cold. There was no Christmas atmosphere at all, no carols or music... Not even a Christmas tree! It was like having a standard Sunday lunch, no staff spoke or said merry Christmas. Really disappointed at the lack of Christmas spirit. For 69 a head I would have expected a small glass of wine or prosecco but all we got was what seemed a pound shop Crackers! For a Sunday lunch if the prielce was feasible I'd say go... But definitely not for an occasion.

Had high hopes for this place when I visited, but although I booked for 8:15pm it was nearer 9pm when I was actually served. Sadly it was not worth the wait. The sea bass was ok (if smaller than I shad expected) but the vegetables were both under cooked with others over cooked. Helpful staff, and nice atmosphere. However this was all quite average.

Decided to go back to the hotel that I had spent some time at previously and also having seen it on THI thought we should try it out. Car park was full which was a good sign, on entry it all looked familiar with a few changes. We were directed into the bar area which to be honest looked dark and a bit drab, the fridge and cardboard peanut holder plus some of the ornaments would have been better off removed. We waited 15 minutes after getting some menus and drinks before somebody came over to us, for some reason they thought we were a party of 5 and we were waiting for others, once we established otherwise they altered the seating arrangement and took us to the restaurant. It was fairly busy, three other tables dining, It was quite airy and light but the very ornate ceiling although a great piece of work looked out of place. The starters were ok, portions size was good, the prawns a tad hot, the aubergine and couscous alright. The mains of confit chicken, far too much salt in something lacked a decent accompaniment and the sea bass, a bit underwhelming were just alright, none of the food wowed. All in all it was pretty average, we were looking for a different place than previous but it didn’t convince us.

Went for Sunday lunch today with my husband. Never been before and to be honest would not go again. The table was booked for 1.45 and we managed to get a drink at 2.15 as they had a group in and we could not get to the bar. We eventually got into the dining room at 2.30, I was thinking it must have been packed and there was two more tables. I got roast beef and all the trimmings. I could not even cut the roast potatoes they were so hard. I personally think they were frozen as nobody could make them that bad, there was a red wine jus over the meat so the rest of the meal was very dry. Next had date sponge with caramel sauce and ice cream. There was about a teaspoon of the sauce and the sponge was very dry. I did mention all this to the girl on reception who told me they had been very busy with the group booking. Should have got extra staff in.

Ottimo ristorante.

I enjoyed a spot of lunch here together with my husband, after seeing this lovely Hotel on THI we just had to visit! The Hotel is so pretty, and has so much charm. We visited on a Sunday and stayed for lunch, I had the soup starter which was Leek & Potato, it was so so nice. For main I had Chicken, it was delightful. Sticky Toffee Pudding was my dessert choice, and I have to say it was the most delicious STP I have ever had. The service was very good and the staff very friendly. We will definitely be visiting again, and may even consider having our work Christmas Party here!

Nine of us had an early Christmas meal in this restaurant on Saturday lunchtime. Between us we have two vegetarians, one garlic intolerant and one Coeliac and lactose intolerant and we were all well catered for. I had butternut squash soup to start, Christmas dinner for my main and apple and gooseberry crumble for dessert. Other guests' choices included brie starter, beef main, vegetarian risotto main, vegetarian mushroom wellington main and amaretto chocolate pot dessert. The food and service were good and the hotel is a beautiful former mill owner's house. There is plenty of parking and the rooms were cosy, with plenty of seasonal trimmings. We would happily return.

Dined here one Saturday whilst staying at the hotel. Due to a Northern Rail industrial dispute, I had to take a taxi from Preston in order to make the last orders deadline at 20.45, but it was well worth the cost of that.

I visited for my mums special birthday lunch. There was just the 2 of us. The restaurant was 20 mins late in opening for Sunday lunch, it took 3 times to get drink order correct and there was dirty glasses everywhere. It was like it has been warmed up from the wedding function day before, the beef was very well done and rubbery. The main meal consisted mainly of potatoes. Such a shame as I live nearby and I would have visited regularly if it had been nice. I was also going to book for Christmas Day but absolutely not now. Such a let down.

Ate in this restaurant many times whilst staying at the hotel - service always fairly informal and friendly, Reasonable choice of food at very reasonable price. Can highly recommend the soup as a starter, soup of the day changes regularly and is always tasty. Also do good steaks. It's worth going to the restaurant just to admire the decorative moulded ceiling !

Dugdales restaurant is at Rosehill House hotel. This is a large Victorian house, formally the home of Mr Dougdale who was a mill owner, the house looking down over Burnley. The restaurant is located in the original dining room, a shrine to Victorian decor, wood panelling and an impressive fireplace in the middle of the room. It is a goodf place for entertaining business clients in a fairly restrained atmosphere, it does not, for instance, seem to attract families with young children. The menu is not particularly comprehensive, a choice of three or four main course dishes, whe food is fairly traditional English, well cooked, nothing particularly fancy and as such I think is probably a littly pricy for what is offered. Before and after meal drinks can be taken in the cosy lounge and adjoining bar.

All too often, people only voice negative reviews and let a good experience go unnoticed. With the constant increase in lunch places in Burnley, it feels we need to voice support for local independent businesses. It was my first time trying this place - formerly “quick crepes” and now “central kitchen” - and I will definitely be back. I was greeted by the owner who is a really lovely man and was incredibly attentive, but got the balance just right. (Most places have a habit of asking how the food is when you’ve just taken a mouthful, but not here!) It had a relaxed, friendly and comfortable atmosphere, it was very clean and the tables are all nicely spaced. I ordered a tea and a crepe (bacon, spinach and mushroom) it was served quickly, delicious and the portion was massive! There are all kinds of things on the menu, I saw some burgers come out and they looked very good. But for those just wanting a drink they had loads of options, hot, cold, milkshakes, smoothies and alcohol. If you haven’t already, give it a try. I’m already thinking about my next visit!
