Disappointed is an understatement. Booked a late afternoon table for two expecting it to be similar in standard to the Dormy restaurant at Gleneagles, sadly it did not deliver. Impressive looking from outside, was greeted at front door and then directed upstairs. Stood about at an empty reception desk, eventually walked into bar area to find a staff member. Restaurant was fairly quiet, the table had superb views over the coast. My partner ordered the cottage pie, I ordered an egg sandwiches and a beetroot, goats cheese salad, plus drinks. Food arrived, asked if we would like same drinks again 'yes please' (a white wine and a coke zero), to be given a red wine and a reg coke (which as Type1 Diabetic, I thankfully spotted). The cottage pie tasted like microwave mash that had been put under the grill, with meat that tasted like it had been reheated, only ate half, complained when plates cleared 'oh ok', nothing more was said. Asked for the bill, then asked again 10 minutes later... waited 5 minutes for payment to be taken.... ended up going to bar (which had been sitting with dirty glasses for the entirety of my meal), bill in hand asking to pay (and I genuinely think the staff wouldn't have cared if I'd just walked out). Had high expectations, and maybe the main hotel is better, but this was a truly disappointing experience.

Treated Mum to a Mother’s day meal out. Being new to the area, wanted the main Turnberry restaurant ‘1906’ but informed it wasn’t open for lunch only dinner - so opted for the sister restaurant ‘Duel in the Sun’ instead. Venue is superb. Service similar with attentive staff made you feel as important as the price tag suggested. Menu was somewhat limited to that only marginally above a bar menu and not elevated to the associated costs. So much so, that with little inspiring for mains, the sandwich options were chosen for 2 of our party and not up to par (pun intended) for the money. I'm happy to pay for service, location and quality where due but the menu requires some re-imagining to support what was the better part of £250 for 4 with drinks. Discretionary 10% tip automatically added to the bill annoys me. Sadly will not be on the list for future special (or any) occasions.

We had a lovely meal at Dual in the Sun. Staff were wonderful, a special thank you to Annabell and Robbie who were absolutely lovely, attentive and knowledgeable. Went for our honeymoon and the tram kindly arranged complimentary glasses of prosecco and a shared dessert. Restaurant is a Club house with great views of golf course, turnberry light House and the sea. Had football on the TV. Very spacious layout of tables, felt very relaxed, very comfortable and excellent service

Ate at this restaurant on a quite Friday afternoon with colleagues from work. Restaurant was lovely with great views of the golf course. Food was really nice and very good portions but maybe a little expensive for myself. Waiting staff were very poor… they didn’t know about gluten free food or drinks, they dropped the onion rings on the table and totally forgot one of the orders which we they had come back and take after we highlighted it. Staff let the place down.

Dropped in for nice sandwiches and drinks..the setting lovely as usual and staff very polite and friendly. It was only after we were driving up the road I noted the small pino grigio spritzer had been charged as £16 which was more than the Coronation Chicken sandwich....ridiculous..so check the bill before you pay.

We ate and drank in here whilst staying at the hotel. It was very disappointing - we went twice, once when it was over-run with members and was busy and loud with extremely slow service and once when it was very quiet and seemed drab and a little grubby. Anyone expecting a luxurious, resort style club house (as we were) is in for a huge disappointment (as we were!).

We had a meal here when staying at the hotel. My husband who can I point out is never ill from food was violently sick all night within hours of returning from the restaurant. He still doesn’t feel right 3 days on. The restaurant was swarming with flies over our table which was off putting when eating. I know it had been a hot day and windows would have been open but there were far too many to feel comfortable with. Still had to pay for the meal no offer to compensate his sickness and take his meal off the bill. Avoid.

Having booked a three day golf trip to TumpTurnberry we were mortified to discover that the Golf Club bar/restaurant and the halfway hut had been shut (till whenever), on the day we got there. So after a game we were forced to walk upstairs to the main Hotel bar to drink and eat there. Which for anyone that doesn't know, is absolutely dreadful. Bad service, indifferent food and extremely high prices.

Decided to treat ourselves to lunch today. Checked menu online and each chose our ‘sand wedge’ in advance. Arrived and given table beside window (after requesting this). All good so far. Menus provided was a reduced version on the one online and unfortunately the salmon and prawn croissant plus steak sandwich were both not available. We then both chose the battered fish with chips plus glass of Pinot Grigio and a still water. Fish was ok but my chips were either undercooked or had ben lying around and reheated. Ate a few but gave up. Told waitress when she took plates away. She apologised… Regarding price of a very average glass of Pinot Grigio - shocking at £14.50. So all in the cost was £62. I appreciate this is Turnberry and if quality of food plus choice had been as expected I would not have provided this review. Doubt very much we will return

Perfect little spot for some lunch with a pretty view. Polite staff and lovely fresh food. A nice treat when on a weekend away although it is a little pricey at £72.50 for two mains, a vodka/dash and lemonade. Would highly recommend.

This is an excellent place for a casual relaxing dinner or lunch, if you are staying at Turnberry, or in the area. The food is great and the service excellent. We only visited once on our stay, but I wished we had gone more than once. There is a great view from the restaurant but note Sky Sports is on the TV in here, although the sound isn't on but it is a golf "club house"/sports bar.

Booked the Duel In The Sun for lunch, thinking it would be a lovely treat for a friends 50th birthday. I was very let down when I walked into the restaurant and felt it was a glorified club house with sky sports on massive screens around the restaurant (these were not on the restaurant website images!!). I really thought it was going to be a restaurant, but was no better that a city Wetherspoon pub. I would most definitely not have booked it if I’d know what it was like inside. I was so disappointed and felt bad for my friend who I had told I had booked a lovely surprise for her birthday lunch. The wine was overpriced and so was the food -£15 for a sandwich with a few crisps on the plate. Aside from this, the ladies on reception in the main hotel were very helpful and gave us a couple of clubs each to use the pitch and putt, which was great fun. The main hotel felt very special, as I hoped the Duel In The Sun would have been, but sadly it was a massive let down and ruined a day that my friend can never get back. Her birthday was flat. Absolutely gutted.

Look, it's lovely to be down by such a famous golf course - even if we're not golfers! But we'd looked forward to lunch here as a real treat during our ten nights at the Turnberry Hotel, and we were really disappointed. The food was mediocre, at best. My wife's steak was so poorly prepared as to be inedible. The "crispy cheesy potato rosti bites" with my pretty bland salmon turned out to be hash browns - no better than cheap, frozen, shop-bought stuff, but for £7. Onion rings were barely cooked. We'd also checked with the hotel that the clubhouse would be toddler-friendly. That extends to having a nappy bin in the disabled toilet, but no changing table and "You'll just have to change her on the floor". By the exceptionally high standards of the main hotel, this was very poor all round. A great shame.

We went to Dual In The Sun Restaurant as we didn't fancy the menu in the 1906 restaurant at Turnberry. We were impressed with the menu here and the situation. We had wonderful views from our table and it was a very pleasant experience. There was a one way system in operation around the building and hand sanitiser stations. The menus were either under the glass top table or via a QR code, which meant you didn't have to touch a menu. The food was delicious and the service was relaxed, slightly slower than I normally expect, but I didn't mind as I was on holiday.

We went for lunch at the Duel in the Sun restaurant within the clubhouse and it was a very pleasant experience. We had dined previously in the hotel but that is currently closed due to the pandemic. We were welcomed and told about the one way system within the building and to use the hand sanitiser. We made our way to the restaurant and had to wait for a minute while our table and chairs were sanitised. The menus were under the glass topped table so we could read them but not touch them. The food and service was great as always and i look forward to another visit soon.

We live between Deeside and Dorset and rarely in Ayrshire but down for wedding and decided to go to Scott’s as knew the owners through business over 20 years ago when they just had a couple of places & heard a lot about their massive success . Honestly , we couldn’t fault it and … we eat out a lot . From a genuinely lovely welcome from Beth to excellent service from all the staff ( Isabelle was particularly charming & efficient ) - wonderful choice of menu , terrific cuisine and good value for money …. With a charming view . Some people look to find fault wherever they go but , we genuinely found Scott’s faultless ( inc toilets , decor etc etc ) . Absolutely SUPERB - 10/10- well be back and Soon 🥂
