Almost 2hrs from plane to the border control

Long wait with little baby on security, in kids area toys are dirty and part of them are broken. No smoking area inside of airport. a lot of airports have it, but what we can expect here.

We had fast track security and My Lounge, prior to our flight, so this was good. Usual security would have been carnage, and not one seat available on the concourse. If you want a good experience, do what we did.

Luton Airport is more convenient than Heathrow, especially for those looking for a smaller, less crowded airport. Luton generally offers more straightforward security processes and shorter queues, which can save time. However, it may have fewer international flight options compared to Heathrow. Overall, for me traveling to London and want a more streamlined, convenient airport experience, Luton Airport is a good choice.

Is not that easy with parking these days because they rebuild one of the main parking buildings but is manageable

I use this airport 2 x a month - and have done for years - Sadly I had to give it 4 stars today ( normally I would give 2 or less ) on this occasion as I only arrived 45 minutes before EZY departure and was forced to pay for fast track - reluctantly and the car park 1 - due to some idiot that rolled their car on the M1 between J14 and J13 and the 2 hours I had evaporated- so I will be into about 140 quid for the extortionate carpark ( more than T5 Heathrow ) and why I gave 4 stars is I did not have to endure the horrendous retail and catering outlets and hordes of travellers all getting right royally ripped off - or waiting hours to use the equally disgusting toilets in the departure halls

The worst airport of all. Always a lot of people to pass control. Control is absurd. Very bad free wifi.

The retards introduced some low quality luggage scanners at security and almost all bags are now redirected for additional checks resulting in much slower processing then previously with the old scanners. Similar equipment exists in other airports but works ok and actually saves time. I wonder how much % did the CEO make from procuring poor equipment?

Really impressed with outward journey. Offical Long Stay Parking was all automated, arrived at 03:00 Sunday morning and 15 minutes later bus arrived to terminal. Easy Jet bag check in was a breeze, we paid for fast track security, literally went to front of qué and were through security within 10 minutes from dropping bags. Found a lovely Mexican style breakfast in the terminal, but lots of other traditional offerings. Plenty of seating, we choose to sit further away as we're so early for flight which was lovely and quiet. Return was not fair to judge as luggage wait was excessive, but the flight was delayed over and hour and half so not Luton Airports fault. Great airport would choose to fly from here over Birmingham any day 👍

Both outbound and inbound flight experience was seamless.

Please install more automated border-control machines. During the morning peak, the queue is enormous, and since almost everyone arriving has paid for an ETA, there are certainly funds available to make our lives easier.

The choice of routes is good, and communication is very good.

Absolutely terrible airport the bus drivers that I had the misfortune to interact with were utterly useless I was told to leave on a particular bus to pick up my hire car on getting to where I was supposed to be the bus driver told me I had to go back to the airport and get a different bus then on returning to the airport I was told that I was going back to the very same car park I got to in the first place and the different driver told me he would let me know when to get off and then I saw where I was supposed to go as we went past it and had to tell the driver to stop so i could get off and walk 800 yards back after all this pathetic incompetence I missed the funeral I had come for rubbish service was pathetic and poor. I tried to complain but there is no way to do this for Luton airport. If you need to go anywhere and need to hire a car then Luton airport is not the place to do this find another airport.

Today we had a bad experience in Luton airport which we have used to travel abroad for a few times a year in the past 10 years as we live very close. My partner and our 2 kids used wizz air to visit grandparents in our home country. We had a pushchair for our youngest(9 month old) and just to small backpacks and we stayed amongst the last to pass trough boarding gate,when one of the staff at the gate 33 saw the pushchair in a really rude manner asked where is my tag for it. I told her that I didn’t know we had to check it in before as we have used different companies and wizz air the most and is the first time i am being asked to get the tag at the check in desk,having no luggage to check in we didn’t even consider to check in at the desk as kids being inpatient when travelling. She continued that that its not her dutty to give tags as she’s not working for this flight company,the situation got heated up and told her that we should stop the argument,in the meantime her colleague(Anca)said the she shouldn’t give as a tag so we can maybe have the pushchair lost. I have never came across to such an unpleasant situation and unprofessional behaviour. They were already angry with other customers before us because they had a 10kg luggage that was supposed to be dropped off at the check in point and made them pay an extra luggage. I understand that working in the airport can be stressful but on the other hand,all the staff at the security check were nice, helpful and respectful! Flight 11:45am Gate 33

Recently renovated the duty free area and opened another restaurant so there feels like there is a bit more room. Could still do with more seating areas for waiting. The coffee shops are slow to serve considering you're at the airport so give yourself plenty of time!!

Poorly organized and maintained, long walks to the Gates and little space to sit

Got there early and breezed through the bag drop, which was nominally open but no signs to say anything about it. While I puzzled over the weight of a checked-in bag on the weighting scales, some lovely employees nearby at the desk checked on what I was attempting in vain to do, checked the flight and checked my bag. Very helpful staff at all the touchpoints through the day - restaurant, cafe, shop and dispatchers and boarding gate. Could not fault the experience at all, and would return. Now that I know my way around.

Great airport.. cheaper than Heathrow.. excellent

The boarding gate indicated for the Ryanair flight was a basement one, where they kept all of us passengers cramped for 30 minutes since they did not open the door to go to the plane but they wanted to get out of the way and do the control. The rest of the airport is fine

Very organised and very clean airport. Lots of trolleys available and staff to ask anything. Toilets are clean . Most duty free shops were closed when I was travelling to Poland (4 am) .

My flight from here was smooth, no delays, all staff were friendly. Return flight also smooth no problems at all.

went to Luton Airport to catch a easyjet flights to malaga and back to Luton staff at airport was very helpful and friendly.

I have travelled thru Luton many times and never cease to be underwhelmed by its blandness, impoliteness, and general sense of impending delay. Its slowly improved over the last few years, which explains three, not one star, (or indeed a black hole). But if you want to retain a shred of dignity, go to Heathrow.

Today, it was a very quick way out, scanning my passport and straight through. Didn't have any luggage. I can't comment on the waiting time on the belt. Outside the airport, traffic and logistics are not the best, but hopefully, one day, it will get there ..

How can there be a prayer hall, no smoking area? For me, it is equally dangerous whether the airport will explode after a lit cigarette or after a prayer. Purely and simply you are discriminating against a group of people who have the right to make a personal choice whether to smoke or not

English, you don't know how to organize a passport queue. Shame! This is how cattle are organized, not people

Our transition was smooth and calm. With the fast track option it is way more convenient, as we were not asked to take out almost everything from our bags and then to lose some of our items. It was faster, more convenient and somewhat more pleasant. In the lounge there are plenty of shops and restaurants, so it is easy to buy a water, sweets, something to read or grab a snack. The sitting area is almost always very busy, but with sone luck, there might be a space or two to sit. My personal advice - browse the shops first and then buy, as some of them offer very pricey items compared to the same items elsewhere!

Luton Airport has improved greatly.

Have flown to/from here multiple times. Quite a busy airport in London with just one terminal. Easily accessible by Luton Dart.

Very busy and commercial airport that aims to squeeze every last penny out of travellers. Not a great experience and very expensive. Not much available to entertain kids while waiting.

No smoking area, you can smoke only in front of the place before going in... why? Its mot expensive, evan in small airports you have place for smokers, not here ...

Terrible gates with no place to sit, 30 min wait for passport check on arrival. You are only better than Fuentaventa airport but man they suck.

This time in particular was very well received. My mother needed special assistance and the gentleman at the counter was very friendly, professional and polite. The gentleman who escorted my mother through was the same. He was kind and considerate. Muchly appreciated 👍

Just a hole of an airport. Far too small for the number of passengers it carries. Shops, restaurants, bathrooms, even passport control is hugely undersized for it. Avoid at all costs.

Good airport, good facilities but there is only one drinking water fountain available (or at least I found one only). Transport buses from the car parks are relatively frequent and quick.

Luton airport continues to disappoint. The new security process takes three times longer than the old one and needs more staff. It is no longer necessary to remove laptops and liquids from bags, but over half of the trays that go through the machine are then diverted for physical examination. While I waited today for the one member of staff available, there were 14 trays stacked up. I paid extra for fast track security but it isn't. Fast track security just enables you to jump the queue so that you can get to the ridiculously time consuming security system, faster. They used to have the four button customer feedback, from a smiley to a sad face, but it doesn't surprise me they've now removed it.

Lack of smoking area = 1 star. Such a huge airport could have easily designated 5m2 for the interior area such as every normal airport does.

Compared with all other european airports this airport is abysmal. Long queues, awful decor , cold, slow, there was a mural on the wall saying that we were only 32 minutes from London St Pancras but it took us longer than that to clear security. Why UK passport holders have to be treated like cattle to get back into their own country is disgusting. This treatment of customers ( and we are customers, which the airport seems to have forgotten) does not happen elsewhere in Europe, their airports are clean and efficient. I felt like I needed to apologise to all the foreign people for the way that the UK was treating them on arrival. Not a good first impression for anyone. There is a section below to add photos or video but we were not allowed to take any.

Easy access. Very fast baggage and personal check-in. After installing new scanners it took very little time. Large airport facilities with shops and restaurants Close to National express stops

Really badly organised airport. First time here in 25 years. Security very slow with no one guiding muppets who cannot read a screen. Bought three perfume items had to go to three check out’s. WHY? Very slow service. This airport does not take Club Avolta. There are stupid Queue’s for everything. Why not go to Stansted, Heathrow and even Gatwick to see how it’s done correctly.

Very straightforward with plenty of information to point you in the right direction. Not to mention the helpful and friendly staff!

Don’t take black cabs anywhere from this airport.

I had a flight with my daughter. Was late, but still 25 minutes before flight and I’m sure I would easily manage to do that. They didn’t let me go through the gate where you supposed to scan your boarding pass. Departure was at 3:26pm instead 3:05 pm anyway.So I had an hour At the end had to pay for the next flight in 5 hours with a kid £200 extra

Very sharp and steep bumps that destroy the car even though you are driving at 10 mph. Drop off pick Up parking I think is a big joke , is £5 for the visit , but for only 5 minutes this is unacceptable,after every minute will cost to drivers £1 . This will become the cause of some future accident because with this limited time and charges,people are in a hurry to get out because of them. This has to be changed immediately. The health and safety department of the airport has to check that

Got a parking ticket that cost me £25 just for running into the main building to use the toilet. The challenge was refused because there was no facility in that zone. Easy fix put one there.

I got a fine for dropping my parents stayed 2 min and 18 seconds. System have been changed no barriers to pay anymore you have to do it online and apparently they have signs but who reads all the signs in an airport. Will never use that airport again I guess they need to make those money back from the burnt car park.

Worst airport I have been to in my whole life! Flight is at 6.15,boarding gate number is displayed at 5.30,takes 15-20 minutes to get there,gates close 5.45, 5 people miss the flight including me and my partner,full of excuses and lies,need to send email to register complaint,whilst at desk 7 people also missed other flights!! The place needs bombing,avoid at all costs,traffic jams,overcrowded,long queues,not enough notice on boarding gates,no seats,what a shambles!!

Good Airport, quick service in Security,checking in. There are a lot of options to eat and drink. Water fountains to fill up your bottle.

Seamless & absolutely stress free airport

I had a very frustrating experience at Luton Airport regarding a lost item that could have been easily recovered with a minimal amount of support. On 29th April 2025, I arrived at Luton Airport. One of my checked bags had a Samsung SmartTag inside. When I collected my luggage, I found the bag had been opened and the SmartTag was missing. Using the SmartThings app, I was able to track the device all day, showing that it was still moving around in the airside area of the airport, likely in an airport baggage trailer. I contacted Luton Airport Lost and Found and the Ground Handling Agent Swissport via email and shared the live, exact location of the SmartTag, hoping someone could assist in retrieving it. Unfortunately, I received no support or meaningful response. Despite providing clear and real-time evidence of the item's presence on airport grounds, no one took responsibility or made an effort to help. This experience was extremely disappointing and raises serious concerns about security, accountability, and the effectiveness of lost property services at Luton Airport.

Airport is fine overall but security is very poor at times. Be prepared to spend considerable time getting through even if not long queues. Is hit and miss.

This is the worst airport in the world. It was like being on Duke of Edinburgh hiking trip just to arrive to the terminal. The people on the “replacement bus” all coughed as if they had monkeypox and the entire infrastructure is a health hazard, as well as an aesthetic atrocity.

£1 a minute for parking! This country is gone

Although it has been carefully built, it takes at least 45 minutes in the morning before we can enter, it is quite dirty, the restrooms are mostly dirty. Whether you have or don't have wifi, it's good transport, but like everything, it comes at a price.

I flew with my family to Naples in December 2024, it was a very smooth journey getting to Luton Airport from Central London. We just booked our train ticket on Trip.com departing from Saint Pancras. In about 35 minutes, we arrived at Luton Airport. In early December, the airport was not crazy busy. It still took us about 20 mins to get through the security check. There are many shops and restaurants open. There is a tiny kid’s area. Follow the signs to gates 1-6, and it's just around the corner from Pret A Manger near the stairs. Arrival is also easy at Luton. The immigration checkpoint is not very busy. We got through and got our luggage quickly.

It’s a great place Luton airport but my flight go cancelled happened quite a lot or it gets delayed a lot times.

Usually, I Refrain from writing such a review. BUT I was in LTN for 3 hours trying to get through immigration. I am a Turmeni citizen, what was the hold up??

Worst airport in London! Drop off/Pick Up is a joke just like their payment system, this is an overpriced rip-off. Terminal is small. Lame shops. Flights are always delayed because they have not enough staff....

First time user and will be the last time. Firstly took forever to get off the plane due to another plane being boarded - really? Ground crew can’t direct? Thereafter another long wait in the kids under 10 line with 9 of the 15 passport counters empty. Do better Luton!

What an amazing place so well run hardly any queues on way out and back. Fantastic selection of restaurants and shops. Staff were friendly and helpful and all done with a smile on their faces

Relatively small airport, can take the DART shuttle to the train station to the city

It might be because we flew on a Sunday but the parking was really easy and only a 2 minute walk to the terminal. The self check in was quick and simple and there were no delays going through security. Overall a good experience.

Just a terrible airport. Who ever is managing it does give a stuff about passenger experience. Have to be dropped to far from the terminal or be charged ridiculous fees. Poor signposting, just an awful experience and a horrible representation of the UK for visitors. Only interested in screwing money from people. We should be ashamed of this grotty excuse for an airport.

Please be aware to check if any of your valuable items were missing after security check. I traveled back home for the weekend in March, I packed small bag with my jewellery and 2 sets of leather Michael Kors Apple Watch straps into one of the inner pockets of my backpack. My bag was being separated for the check, even that I had nothing there that would need to be checked. After I got back home I realised that I don’t have this bag with jewellery anymore. It was not possible for it to fall out, I didn’t use it in Slovakia so didn’t even took it out. I am still very upset, just been checking how to report theft, but apparently it suppose to be done within 7 days, so sadly I missed that as life is busy.

Can't fault it. Quicker and easier than Stansted, though the food options past passport control is limited and couldn't cope with the early morning rush. Leaving the airport was a doddle.

This is the worst airport, it is squished inside and terrible to get to. Trains are never running and it’s always a nightmare. I saw that it got rated best airport in Europe but they must be paying someone off because I would say it’s the worst.

An excellent experience at a UK airport compared to LHR,STN and LGW. Friendly checkin staff. I'd use LTA anytime. Very good restaurant too.

Nice tidy fresh looking airport. Not the biggest but very well maintained. The airport has a Verity of good shops bars and eateries. Toilets very clean and through the airport it is very well signed posted. The shuttle service to the car hire village is brilliant and efficient. I usually flight in to Birmingham on work trips but had use Luton this time and was very well impressed. For the size of the airport it is a very busy place but check in and security were on point and very quick.

If you have the right documents, it's easy to get through security. Friendly staff. Clean.
