We chose Duad to its reputation, menu , association with the Monad team and its on our doorstep. It’s a fun quirky space with its vinyl DJ and off the wall decor . On a purely personal , probably out of date old fogey that I am , I prefer to book online or through a website which made booking tricky as I don’t have instagram. On arrival , the menu was a sort of pop -up from sister establishment Jumon which was enjoyable , but I wouldn’t return for more veggie food. I was really looking forward to the regular menu. The food was really good although the pad Thai was more a chefs interpretation and not totally authentic . A couple of service errors was serving our 2 dishes a good 5 minutes apart and having 2 gin and tonics with flat tonic taken from an already open large bottle ( small tinned /bottled mixers are what you expect nowadays ). However it was nice to receive complimentary replacements free of charge . Next stop Monad methinks .

Had a reservation for food on a Saturday evening for 9 people. Table was ready on arrival. Drinks order taken quickly, asked for water for the table, still waiting even though asked a 2nd time. Range of starters and mains ordered. The only starter that was half adequate were the chicken wings. Prawns were awful, tiny frozen shrimp and served look warm swimming in butter with pre sliced chorizo cut into quarters (the type you'd buy for homemade pizzas), supposed to be served with garlic and chilli sourdough but got a slice of toast, asked about this and the manager came back 10mins later saying the kitchen didn't know how to make it so they gave me cheese on toast. Caesar salad starter came with no chicken, croutons or dressing, was awful. Pickled onion rings were just normal onion rings but exceptionally greasy. On to the mains, the salmon was served with freezing broccoli and half cooked baby potatoes for all of us that ordered this so they were sent back. Chicken stack was ok, burger was like one of the frozen burgers you'd buy and throw in the oven. Service charge was added to the bill, probably normal but not advertised anywhere we could see. Overall an extremely poor experience.

Great food, well priced. Fantastic, friendly service and rest of the evening spent in the beer garden (Monday and Tuesday as it was fab) enjoying live music and a few drinks. Definitely one to visit.

The service from the chef & especially Tony as our waiter was great. The policy of the hotel however is poor and on a low level.
