Dragon Palace II in Christchurch

Lovely food, plenty of it and well priced. Best we've had in ages.

If I could give no stars I would. Ordered from here, everything was appalling and disappointing. Chips arrived no lid in a wet bag that clearly got dropped in a puddle or something, the special house noodles had barely any meat in them, and the deep fried house special chilli and salt mix, wasn't even deep fried, just covered in spicy oil that filled the tupperware up, and think the meat was actually just separated from my noodles. Worst decision I ever made for takeaway, £30 down the drain, £7 for delivery.

Soggy reheated spring rolls, reheated chicken balls , dripping in oil. Wouldn't recommend! I phoned up and explained, told i had to bring the food back when i cant leave my house as my baby is asleep upstairs. Manager was shouting. Very unprofessional and I wont be ordering from them again!!

Literally no vegetables with my dish despite them telling me there are plenty. No rice either. Terrible

I hadn't used Dragon Palace in years, but with my usual Chinese restaurant closed, I decided to give it another try. Unfortunately, I won't be ordering from them again, which is disappointing since I had been a loyal customer for over 10 years before switching to a more local option. The food took over an hour to arrive, even though the quoted delivery time was 35 minutes, and it was cold when it got here. The noodles tasted odd, the chips looked like they'd been overcooked for ages, and the chicken satay sticks were small and flavorless. On top of this, they charged me £6 for delivery despite only living 4.1 miles away. The overall experience was very disappointing, and it's clear that the quality and service at Dragon Palace have declined significantly. I regret giving them another chance and will definitely stick with my new local Chinese restaurant from now on.

Ordered takeaway from here via Just Eat - order arrived on time (within an hour), and the food was very nice and hot. I had the chicken and cashew nuts, and would happily have it from here again.

Disappointing as sadly the beef and pork in the special kung po were very chewy making it rather unpleasant to eat. The sauce in the chicken chop suey was a little sweet, but that's down to personal taste. Pancake rolls and egg fried rice were OK though. The delivery was fine and food was hot on delivery.

First time ordering from here , excellent food piping hot , super fast delivery was quoted 45 minutes arrived within 20 minutes , cannot fault hence 5 🌟

Good food, have ordered a couple times for takeaway from Uber eats. Nice noodles, rice, good variety of choices including Thai curries too which is a plus.

Most of the meal was very good, however the special rice was strangely bland and flavourless. I need to say again though, everything else was great.

The best Chinese! Great food and communication with the delivery. Only problem was that the prawn crackers were forgotten in the order, but this is the first this has ever happened and I’ve been credited immediately.

Chicken Kung Po - chicken was grisly and chewy and tasteless. Meat in the special fried rice was also chewy and fatty. Generally really unpleasant and did not eat even half of it. Won’t order again and would not reccomend .

Absolutely fantastic meal. Great value, especially considering the portion size, arrived nice and hot. Honestly the best Chinese takeaway we have ever had! Just moved to the area so this is definitely going to be our regular!

It was delivered 10 mins after ordering so doesn’t seem enough time to cook it fresh. One dish was missing from the order and when I called them back it came across that they didn’t believe me. They did send the dish 20 mins later. The quality of the food wasn’t great and you could taste the oil needed changing.

Look, I get it that the takeaway is busy, but you need to sort out the app you used it is useless. The order was taken and the app said delivery would be about an hour, then someone from the takeaway called after 50 minutes abd acted as if they had only just got the order and we should expect delivery in a further hour. The delivery was over two hours from ordering and the food wasn't all the good. We will be trying elsewhere in future. I still have to find a good Chinese in our area, all of them so far are disappointing.

Food Lovely, not quite 5 stars, my son said the chicken with chilli & salt could have been a little more cooked, it wasnt as he has had before. the smoked chicken for hubby was nice, and the beef chow mein was lovely. the Hors Doeuvres need some attention, no where near the 5 stars in restaurant still lovely food, and yes were still going to order again

1 hour 20 minutes delivery wait! Food bland and spring rolls had no filling would never use again

Over an hour late and stone cold. Can't have a refund because we took it out of the bag - how else would we be able to tell it was cold?!

Lemon 🍋 Chicken 🐔 - Excellent No Peas in egg 🥚 fried rice - perfect! (I don't know why some places ruin it with pea's Duck pre shredded would have been nice (mostly as we are camping) but it was pretty easy to do so 😊

Food was okay at best, waiting time was normal, service was absolutely terrible! Asked for shredded chicken, chips and curry and got shredded chicken in sweet and sour sauce, chips and no curry. Returned back and told them what the problem was, they took the chicken away, rebagged it and put a tub of curry on top. Had to return again after walking back to my hotel in the heavy rain and finding they put the same box of soggy chicken in a bag. Told the girl again that she messed it up and the tall skinny man who I am guessing is the owner came out from the back and started shouting at me, telling me all shredded chicken comes with sweet and sour sauce ect but eventually they understood my very simple order, they charged me extra for their mistake and rectified the situation without once saying "sorry for the mix-up", "thank you for your patience and custom" or even "have a nice night"... common courtesy I thought but it must cost extra for that too I'm guessing. Wouldn't reccomend to anyone with a short fuse or a high standard of taste

If you are ready to wait for more then 1 hour than it's your place. They laid and said that's going to be ready in 20min but it took more then 1 hour to for delivery. Will order from different takeaways sins now.

Twice now forgot prawn crackers and chips dried up. No apology, won't correct mistake. Wouldn't waste your money here.

Worst ribs we've ever had, more fat than meat, never again!! Spent a fortune for rubbish food

I travel all over the country this is THE BEST Chinese food, I've had. Last night I had the most amazing ribs, crunchy outside and soft inside. They cook everything from scratch Every time I'm in Christchurch I visit. Thus place is enough to make you want to move here?!! The local people have a real GEM., on their doorstep. Looking forward to seeing you again soon. Thankyou, great place.

Probably more of an app problem but delivery time was not updated and we had no idea when the food would arrive. Lovely and hot when it did. Nice delivery person too.

Such amazing food, we ordered the salt and chilli chicken, chicken chow mein, lamb curry, egg fried rice, sweet and sour sauce, curry sauce and the fried asparagus. It was done within ten mins and piping hot. The chicken was lovely, hot, crispy, a nice amount of chicken. The sauces were lovely but the best meal by far was the lamb curry, the lamb was melt in the mouth. We loved it that much we went back twice after! (We were on holiday stopping at the local hoburne site). I’m sure if we didn’t leave over 3 hours away this would be a regular hunt a few nights a week!! Smashing food!! Can’t wait for next years holiday to visit here again!!!

Sadly had the "crispy" duck in plum sauce delivered for a Valentines special meal. The meal had 3 soggy skin pieces of duck and minimal vegetables. Service is friendly in the restaurant.

Beautiful! Please keep your chips and currys exactly the same x. I’d pay extra for fortune cookies tho , just a hint and a nice touch will order again

Lovely food, slightly underwhelmed by the amount of prawn toasts, spring rolls and butterfly king prawns in the mixed hors d'oevres for the £30. It seemed like not very good value for money compared to everything else. But otherwise very nice.

Very disappointing. Chicken with chilli and salt salt was very poor quality meat and no flavour. Prawn toast was soggy. We ordered 6 dishes only eaten one. Husband spoke to the restaurant but they don't seem the slightest bit bothered. Usually use Dragon Palace on Barrack Road, lesson to not get them mixed up again!

Amazing food, good prices and the staff are so nice and care for their customers only wish we lived closer so we could go more often, although it is worth the hour round trip, thank you can’t wait to visit again :)

We have used the takeaway service many times when having friends or family with us that like Chinese food. Ordering online is easy. The delivery is always prompt and friendly. The selection on the menu gives us all enough variety for our varied tastes. We have no hesitation in commending them.

Overcharged by £5 because 'we are short staff so we charge extra'.. items missing from our order ad refused to send the driver back out

Never had chicken balls in so much batter with a pea size mouthful of chicken. Rice lacked flavour, sweat and sour chicken was reduced down to a tar. Not great service from behind the counter. Only nice thing was it was cooked very quickly, hopefully in a conventional way

Once again, Dragon Palace have maintained their standard as the best Chinese takeaway in this area. I last visited in 2016 and enjoyed the well cooked tasty dishes and friendly staff. Highly recommended and well deserved rating.

I can honestly say that Dragon Palace is the best Chinese takeaway for miles. We’ve been using it regularly for over 10 years and I’ve never had a duff meal. Collection is quick and the service is tip-top. Food is (without question) as good as it gets. Highly recommend.

This is the second time I've been disappointed by Dragon Palace II. Last night I ordered and the egg fried rice, chow mein and foo yung were perfect. However, I ordered 10 mini veg spring rolls and these were obviously refried from left overs rather than fresh. There was hardly any crunch and they were very oily. In addition, I ordered some chips and these were delivered cold, soggy and very clearly not fresh. Like I said, this has happened before... It is disappointing because this was always my go to takeaway, but I think I will be ordering from somewhere else from now on...

Unfortunately we had a bad experience with our takeaway order and wrote a letter of complaint hoping to get some sort of reimbursement. We didn't even receive a letter of apology! You need to do better Dragon Palace! Not good for business.

The food is always delicious! The curied Samosas are a personal favourite, as is the fried rice, which they do to perfection, the salt and chili chips are spot on. They also do a lovely complimentary dish to. 100% the best Chinese in Christchurch. Won't go anywhere else. Highly recommend to everybody.
