Dragon Chinese in County Durham

As fair as British Chinese goes, this is the best in Durham The new home cooked chips are absolutely bangin. The sweet and sour is just right, none of that vinegar after taste. The curry is classic. The only draw back isn't even a draw back. It's that they tell you 15 minutes then only put the chips in when you arrive so you have to wait for them, but then they're fresh. Worth the wait imo. Got a bus out to Bowburn from central Durham cause I missed it when I moved away. Will keep coming back. Begging for delivery.

Decent Chinese. Portion sizes are immense as you'd expect. I've not sampled the whole menu, but everything I've had has been great.

The food is too bad that we can’t accept such quality. Very disappointed! Waste money. The worst Chinese food I have ever had;(

We ordered based on good reviews but was disappointed 😞 £30 in the bin, was tempted to drive it back down there and ask for my money back but couldn’t be arsed. All very bland, food felt old, munch box was just covered in garlic and hardly and spice. The chicken wings looked like they were fried a week ago and the salt and pepper chicken was mostly batter. Something just felt grim about the whole thing. Really disappointed considering the cost, much better alternatives in the area.

Ordered some egg fried rice and some chips with curry sauce. The meal was absolutely delicious and super fresh 👍. The portion sizes were pretty large as well 🤗 definitely recommend this place 💯

Was excited to try this, based on reviews, but was disappointed. Got prawn toast- tasted of nothing, certainly not prawn. Also got house special chow mein- noodles were bland and for some reason, the cook had slopped a big portion of gravy/ brown sauce on the top. Won't be ordering from here again.

Only had chips, rice and gravy from here but the portions of chips were huge! 1 bag would have been enough for 2 of us, rice wasn't the best I've tasted but passable and gravy was amazing. Only downside is it's cash only so had to go and find a cashpoint then go back to pay and collect.

Always amazing food & piping hot when delivered. Great customer service from the staff aswell :) would recommend!

I love this local takeaway. The staff are lovely. The prices are great. Food is always piping hot. One of the delivery drivers recommended I try the house special chowmaine , so I did. It was gorgeous. Not a dish I'd normally go for, gravy on it! But yes it was gorgeous. Second time I ordered it was not so great! One prawn, some chicken, beef n pork but overall the second time round was not so great, sorry. But over-al, the 4 years we've been eating from here, the food has been great. Delivery is on time, and the food is fresh and hot on arrival. The staff are friendly and welcoming. It is an only cash takeaway, which is fine. I like that. One thing I noticed was there isn't a desert menu. I only noticed because my daughter asked. I'm not too bothered because most takeaway restaurants have the generic chocolate fudge cake which I can't stand in its polystyrene box lol. It would be nice to try a more traditional Chinese desert. Maybe not the jelly type desert tho. I'm not too keen on that lol. But yes please do give a desert menu a go, unless you already have and it didn't work. Sorry I missed it !

Stopped for a quick bite in lorry. Got a Chicken Chow Mein. Im from Scotland this place is phenominal value. Amazing price a once i sat in truck in Washington services to eat it. I honestly couldn't get enough of it. Was superb. Will be back another day to enjoy more.

The owners are lovely, and their little boy is lovely. I'd love to rate higher but the staff on the counter, she is so rude and seems like she doesn't care and only does half a job. Food is decent. Yet again owners are lovely just that black hair lass who's abit big isn't nice

This is one of the best Chinese takeaway around bowburn area.i tried few others even in Durham and one of them I put the food straight in a bin ,test was horrible, but all years I only got food once in here test wasn't as good other than that every time perfect

I was told my meal would be ready for collection in 10 mins, 30 minutes later it was ready. When I got home I was annoyed about the wait, but when I tasted the dish it was delicious. I had chicken chow mein. The wait was due to so many delivery orders, but while I waited in the shop the receptionist was still telling customers that their meals would be ready for collection in 10 mins!

Prices ok . Food could be better . King prawn balls could be used as cricket balls they were that hard.

Very dissapointed with Mixed Grill and nothing like advertised on menu!!! Included were 2x eggs which did not go with the gallon of gravy (NOT ON MENU) and also did not get any Onions or Mushrooms which were advertised. Shall not be returning!!

The portions are massive. Anyone who says they are small must be extremely greedy. Sorry to say. There was 5 of us sharing two meals. 2 adults, a 16yr old who eats loads, a 13 or old and a 9 year old. We ordered 2 chicken curries, portion of chips and 2 portions of egg fried rice. There was enough for all of us and still some left over. The food was really tasty and the service was quick. We picked ours up so can't comment on delivery times. The only downfall of this business is that it does not let you pay by card. You have to pay by cash. Which is extremely disappointing as a lot of people don't carry money around with them nowadays. I know I don't so you have to make a stop off at a cash machine first. If you could pay by card payment, I would have given 5 stars.

Amazing food and service all the staff are friendly

The food here is surprisingly good, with the usual favourites on offer. Note these guys don't mind making the food extra spicy if you ask for it that way. Excellent.

Sorry we did not enjoy our food, my wife's beef in oyster sauce was very chewy, she had 2 mouthfuls and ate no more, my shredded beef was mince in batter, we will not be returning

Definitely not going back here again, got the chicken batted balls with curry sauce and egg fried rice for my partner, more batter than chicken, sauce and rice were mediocre, i tried one of the batter balls it didn't taste right, tgen i got woke up early hours of the morning with stomach cramps, my partner was already up being sick, glad i only tried a little bit, think you need to renew your cooking abilities or how your food is stored!!!! Also thinking back when the order came out of the kitchen it was brought out by a kid that looked about 12 or 13 hope he wasn't cooking the food??, stay clear you have been warned!!!

Rubbish takeaway mixed my order up a few time very small portions for your money

Phone at 10.30 for delivery to be told they have stopped delivering.... on a Saturday night. First time trying after the last owners. Might have to wait till the next ones. With this ethic I don't think it will be long.

The foods great but there customer service is the worst. Absolutely useless. They constantly hang up whenever I call. Apparently they do this alot when they are busy to avoid further delays. Which in my book is no way to run a business.

Nice food, but the chicken pieces are far too big in the chicken curry and they chop up the noodles too small, bad idea. Please don't chop your noodles up.

Would give 0 if there was an option. Will never go back. We specifically asked when ordering if the food contained nuts as one of our friends has a serious allergy and we are always cautious. She has never had a problem before. They said it was fine but after 2 mouthfuls she immediately reacted. We had to call an ambulance and she ended up in hospital overnight having taken piriton, 2 of her epi pens and steroids. I rang to see what could have caused this and they said the sauce had peanuts in and were apologetic. It's not good enough. Our friend could have died through their negligence. I wouldn't normally write a review but it's not acceptable what happened.

We got beef & chicken curry, chop suey roll, chip & egg fried rice. It was lovely, curry is sooo nice, chicken pieces were rather large, but apart from that it was really nice

Best takeaway i have ever had . The gravy is unreal . Had a house special chowmein and i have never seen as much meat and prawns in a takeaway before . Will be a life long customer if the food stays this quality .

Chips and curry was think and dry same with gravy and the thai food is not thai just Chinese
