Dr Chippy's in Colchester

Very tasty fish and chips, the owner made us feel very welcome, he cooked some special fish from our own country for us to taste it, also gave us some desert. Delicious fish and the chips have been properly peeled and cooked, crispy but not dry.

Excellent sercice. Great chippy. Everything was made to very high standards. Fish, onion rings, fries and prawns.

Great food and very friendly staff the whole year around with lots of regulars addicted to their golden crispy fish and chips to die for. They never use burnt oil i observed. Fish is always the right color and right taste. The Owner / Manager is always on top of his place and watches over his business 24/7 very meticulously. You feel the care every minute when you are there. They are very careful with respect to customers like their own family. I only felt professionalism all around every time i am there and i love the decoration with Elvis and Marlyn Monroe Mural Tile wall done very artistically. Well done and many thanks. Great atmosphere and joy to be there.

I would not usually go to a chippy, but they looked after our large group very well and there was plenty of delicious grilled halloumi as a great veggie dish.

I came for hotdogs. They did a Jamaican style for me with cheese, onions, salad etc. the place is conducive and very nice workers. I also got it at a affordable price if £3.50

The fish is fresh and cooked to perfection. Chips could be have been cooked a little more, but we all have different taste, so just my opinion. Big portions and friendly staff.

Absolutely wonderful, food came fast and HOT! full to bursting and the salad was a lovely touch. Staff are attentive without being on top you and the atmosphere/decor is so cosy. Me and the fella with definitely be coming back. Came at 3pm on a Tuesday and is was the perfect quiet get away from the humdrum. Thank you!

It takes my first time of eating fishes and chips, I'd been to Los Angeles and Toronto, but I never try it before It taste great, chips are peeled that I like it, but I'm not sure the fish was deep-fried but pan fried, may I came here too late which is 5pm. but I will come and try again, next time 2 to 4pm, may better.

Di passaggio, per caso, siamo finiti in questo locale. L'ambiente semplice, un po' misto (la maggior parte dell'arredamento in giro si avvicina allo stile). Le porzioni servite devo dire notevoli e la loro frittura molto gradita. Fish & Chips molto più buono dello scorso in un altro ristorante, ma anche Grill & Chips di salmone devo ammettere, spettacolare!

One of the best fish and chips I have had in a long time.. The salmon and the other piece of fish was absolutely amazing wasn’t dry at all It was very succulent and tasted amazing. The owner is a kind hearted person who enjoys at chat with his customers and the other staff are very polite and happy. I highly recommend Dr Chippy 😊

Under £13 for this large portion of (cod) fish & chips for real?! 😍 The crispy & flaky cod definitely steal the show. 😋 The owner was so nice that he gave me grilled cod for free. I even had a ‘sweet surprise’ — Turkish rice pudding near the end of my meal!

4 homemade Mozzarella for £2. It’s cheaper than MC Donald’s. And homemade burger which was very nice

Went in with my boyfriend last Friday for an evening takeout and it was great. Prices are reasonable and service was quick. Staff are really friendly and even gave us a complementary fillet of bass to try which was delicious. Couldn’t recommend this place enough for someone looking for a takeout fish and chips.

Hit and miss The quality depends on who's cooking the day you go. I went on a day when the food was excellent. Other people I know have been on days when the food is terrible. The chips have been mushy the fish greasy. The day I went the chips were crisp, dry and fluffy on the inside. the fish was battered, but not too greasy. So who knows. It's the luck of the draw.

The owner made us feel welcomed .he gave us some chicken for a taster before getting our fish and chips. He even went above and beyond .we ordered 2 large fish and a portion of chips .he gave us more than what we ordered just look at the box.we couldn't even finish all.we had to take away the other box. Would definitely revisit food was perfect and service was impeccable. Thank you for making our day...

Absolutely the best fish and chips. I had the Cod and chips with a roll and butter and a pot of tea. The old fashioned way. They have a pensioners/Students speciality deals which are amazing value. The batter is light and crispy and the potions are large. They have a very large menu to choose from. I have visited here four times now and the food and service have always been top notch.

Good food, excellent service and reasonably priced

Ordered a Rock and Chips. Rock was best fish, better than any cod. Was given a complimentary piece of battered salmon which was amazing. Chips were tasty too. Pleasant and polite service. Went above and beyond expectations. Will use as my regular chippy from now on.

The cod was OK but the batter was very thick. The chips were sloppy due to the potatoes rather than the cooking. The young girl serving was a little star. The eating area is nice and clean. The toilets are up a level which is hard for anyone with hip problems.

They get everything right here. Delicious food and friendly feel. You get the impression they like people and they take real pride in their work. Forget the swanky places up the hill and enjoy well cooked food and considerate service.

A great selection for veggie and vegan dishes and i couldnt decide so was given the Veggie platter. This was only £10 and was a mix of the different veggie and vegan options. Vegan fish, spicy veggie nuggets, holloumi, onion rings, salad and the infamous chips! Was delicious.

As a vegan it’s difficult to find great vegan options, I definitely recommend the vegan options from this chip shop, very friendly as a plus!

I’ve never seen such a rude, horrible proprietor in my life. There is two young lads working their socks off and the owner was so rude. Vile language, shouting at them and destroying their confidence. You should be ashamed. What a terrible human.
