Dr Chippy's in Colchester

Usually a fantastic chippy but half if the chips were overdone and other half soggy and really greasy and meat was cold and soggy really disappointing for usually such a good chippy

Good portions, tasty food and great customer service. Staff are really friendly and the prices are fair.

Fantastic place!!! The portions were hearty and left us beaming! The fish was crispy and flavourful and the chips were really good as well. I would also recommend the pies at a very good price point for a savoury snack.

Had lunch in the resturant, small pensioners fish and chips which turned out to be quite large, served by a lovely waitress (graduate from Essex uni.) Enjoyed lunch a lot.😋

The food is fantastic, with generous portions, and the staff is both friendly and attentive. I highly recommend it.

Group of us (5) went here on Monday night (10th March) prior to a concert at the Arts Centre - were extremely pleased with the quality of the food (4x Fish & Chips, 1x Pie & Chips) and size of the portions (2 of our group had the “Over 60 special”, and one member couldn’t finish it..!) - the chips were perfect, crisp outside & fluffy inside, and the fish was cooked to perfection, with crisp batter (not greasy, either..👍). We also had some bread & butter, which actually came with REAL BUTTER, not margarine which most places tend to give you - another major plus👍! We’d driven to Colchester from Leigh on Sea and Wickford, so unfortunately it’s a bit far to go on a regular basis, but if we’re back in the area again we’d definitely come back to Dr. Chippy’s, and we have no hesitation in recommending!

Ordered a portion of chips which were a bit greasy. Otherwise ok. Downside is that it's a minimum of a £7 charge for card payments.

Food arrived late and cold which is a shame! There was not much difference in the large and small cod!

Excellent quality with very reasonable prices. My colleagues & I use this place to purchase lunch on occasions. We have to leave a time to pick up our order due to the nature of our job. Never fails to have our food ready on time and exactly what we ordered.

This is the one of the best fish and chips I’ve had it was very crispy and juicy in side also the fries were excellent cooked. The service was very good and fast. It is a good place have some family time and also friendly with the students :)

Delicious fish and chips at honest prices. Lots of options on the menu and you can even sit in the restaurant bit they have at the back. There's also an upstairs seating area if you want to sit there too. Just keep in mind that they have a £7 minimum card payment. Otherwise you have to pay by cash but that's fine

They have the best fish and chips in Colchester town! Affordable, nice service, and a lovely atmosphere. Feels very classy. Dr. Chippy's is also close to all the main activities in town.

Great value for money with large portion sizes that won’t leave you hungry. The staff were attentive and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. The food was well-prepared and delicious, making it an excellent choice for both quality and price. Highly recommend!

Really nice chips, I had peri peri grilled chicken which was very tasty. All food is served to a good standard and the chips are very good.

Was a tiny cold however not a problem just microwaved but my nana loves this shop, she is a happy lady.

Great price for £18 me and dad were really hungry and now full. Their fish and chips, fish was crunchy yet fresh and little moist, chips was fair. 1/2 pound burger was alright, just about what you would expect, no wow but great for the price. Clean Bathroom and staff were friendly, owner was vibing

Me and friend walk in we didn't get called our proper names we got called the school boys the staff where a bit rude won't recommend dr chippy again .

the food was great ... apart from the Savaloy..... it was very soggy and the inside was mushy. but the fish and chips were lovely, crisp and light and fluffy and not oily.

My friends and I left happy and no longer hungry, it’s a great place for lunch and perfectly greasy for a fish and chip shop.

Turkish pizza, first time trying my children and I enjoyed. Freshly cooked and flavours and spice fit together well. This shop has become our favourite

The chip shop offers amazing, crispy fries and perfectly battered fish. Friendly staff, quick service, and generous portions. A great spot for a delicious meal every time! Very Highly recommended!

when i was ordering my food yesterday i was asked to try a new style of chips they are making. it was a cheese and onion chips. me and my friends had finished the box within minutes!!! i am not the biggest fan of onions but they definitely added to the taste. rate it a solid 8/10 and would definitely recommend 😊

I often use this chippy as my go to, the people at the counter are always friendly and fantastic service as usual. Tried Dutch-style chips with my cheeseburger meal, very generous portions and can’t go wrong for £7.

This is the best chip shop in Colchester as far as im concerned, always friendly reasonably priced and always get given some nice fresh chips to eat while waiting. Excellent place to either eat in or take away .

Pleasantly surprised!! Went to sit down an eat in the back. How lovely this area is,nice seating an environment, lovely girl that served us. Food came quickly an was nice an hot. Started to get busy after a while but the service was still great. Will be visiting again when next in the area. Go check it out if havnt already

On a cheeky week away with family went to Dr Chippy's for lunch. It's a restaurant as well as a takeaway. Was my first experience of having an over 60's menu. So many pluses for this chippy 1) Excellent prices for fish and chips, that also came with lovely fresh breaetd arnd salad. 2) Freshly cooked. Nice crispy hot batter. 3) Very generous portions. 4) The over 60 included a non alcoholic drink. 5) Friendly helpful staff Highly recommended. Best fish and chips I've had in a long while.

I was here for dinner on a solo visit. I had fish and chips with chilli sauce. Rating the food, that's a 10/10 Hospitality, 11/10... yes they exceeded my expectations. The rearaurantvwas so clean and tge ambiance was so hospitable. I enjoyed every bit of my experience there. All staffs kept smiling face and were courteous. When it comes to pricing, that was really on a good level. I got the value for my money and didn't have any reason to complain about anything. And to top it all for any prospective muslim customers, it's HALAL!!! Thank you Dr. Chippy and staffs 😊😊

My father introduced this place to my brother Adam and we both have disabilities. The owner and the staff treat us very well and we have started having the £5 lunch take away deal. Its a lovely business and has been here for a number of years. The scores here on google spell it all out and the food, value for money and all around attitude is very special. Thank you.

Went here with my family in May, and it was an amazing experience! The service and the food was great. Highly recommend if you're looking for a great fish and chips place in the area. We were in London the day before and held off on getting fish and chips there with hiked up tourist prices. Will come back again!

I poped in after years and asked for a double chicken burger with no bun as om on a high protein low carb diet and I got the best box pf chicken, chips and veg, love the place and the staff are amazing Jeep doing what you are doing brother!
