Dozo Sushi in Kensington and Chelsea

Went here recently and truly had a magical experience with the food and service 🥰

I ordered Otoro which is meant to be uni and ikura. They charged me £18 and brought a piece of fish. The waiter tried to convince me this piece of unidentified fish is actually uni. I also don’t see any ikura on it but according to the waiter you see sea urchin and red caviar on this photo. Scammers

Sashimi and sake were absolutely amazing, and I will come again!

Fantastic lunch menu, the chicken ramen was our stand out dish, I can not recommend it enough! Lots of staff who are very attentive, I brought my 3 year old daughter, and we were really welcomed and looked after, we can't wait to go back!

I really like this restaurant. I like the Japanese style seating. I like the eel rice. It's very delicious. The eel tastes very good. The sauce is delicious. I really like the cold green tea.

I like the seating area for some tables where you get to sit on tatami like structure. I went around 1:30pm for lunch and it was very busy, and peaks off around 2pm. I ordered Beef Nabe (or AKA Sukiyaki, hotpot like dish), there was also Pork Nabe, waited for half an hour for food to come. The staffs were friendly and helpful. It was my first time having Sukiyaki, the soup base is soy but sweet, plenty of udon noodles, beef and tofu and little bit of enoki mushrooms and fish cakes. I really liked the udon, chewy and smooth texture, tofu was soft, the beef slices were average, you could dip it in the two sauces provided: the Kewpie mayo or spring onion soy sauce. Overall great heartwarming dish for autumn.

Very delicious! The spicy ramen has a lot of beef and the volcano roll is also very good! I finished one volcano roll and one ramen by myself. I was very full. Although it was delicious, it was too expensive! ! !

Love dining at Dozo, Alex is always so lovely to us and treats us perfectly. Booked a table for 7 and catered for all of us excellently. One of my friends had an egg allergy and the staff made sure to let us know what she could eat as we were ordering plates to share. Food was amazing as usual, love the volcano make and wagyu beef!

Came minutes after the opening with no reservations, but we were lucky to get in. Amazing food. The spicy beef ramen was one of the best i ever had. Variety of Maki rolls with a twist. We had dragon roll and spider. Very delicious. Recommended!

The signature orders were not very good But the normal sushi and maki is good Also salad is very delicious

The staff were friendly but I was disappointed by the lack of vegetarian options. Shockingly the veg and meat is fried in the same oil which made it impossible to swap items from the existing menu.

I had an incredible dining experience at Dozo London! The food was absolutely delicious—each dish was beautifully presented and packed with flavor. The sushi was fresh, perfectly crafted, and truly some of the best I've ever had. The service was outstanding; the staff were attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. If you're looking for a fantastic sushi spot in London, Dozo is a must-visit. Highly recommended!

Best Japanese food in South Kensington

The food was great especially for the Volcano Maki rolls and Dragon rolls. Tempura also tasted sooo good. Nice service and cozy atmosphere❤️

I almost never comment on restaurants but I had to write this review because it was the worst paid dinner experience of my life. Me and my sister visited the place and ordered edamame, unagi roll, green tea ice-cream and hot green tea. Afterwards I tried to order some drinks because I had a stomach upset from earlier and not feeling well, but my request to have a menu was declined and we were handed over the bill. When I told them we did not ask for the bill yet the waiter told us they booked the table for another people and now we have to "pay the bill and leave now" because there was a queue of people on the door. We were there merely 30 minutes and not ready to leave. Abhorrent business practice. To be fair; I will rate their food and atmoshpere as well. Their unagi roll was falling apart in a sauce and it tasted worse than average. Same quality goes with the ice cream as well. Edamame was OK because you can't really mess it up, can you? Regarding the athmosphere, I gave 2 stars rather than one because the premises was poorly lit, therefore we could not exacty see the slop we were eating. So thanks for that at least. Keep on serving low quality food and treat your customers like theme park visitors and you'll lose your audience sooner or later. Absolutely not recommended.

Small cramped place. Worst service ever, booked a table for 19:00, made us wait in the draught for 15 mins when it was 5 degrees outside claiming that the people at our table were paying. Worst co-ordination ever. The waiter then took a picture of us, and showed his mates behind the counter and made fun of us. We made him delete it and left disgusted. Horrified that I even considered eating at this dump.

Understated elegance!! Kind and professional staff. Delicious food. Great price point. Faultless meal! My husband and I visited whilst staying in the area for an impromptu meal. We were going to have a takeaway when we popped in to order we saw the restaurant and decided to have a relaxed meal. They accommodated us as we didn’t have a booking and seemed relatively busy. The ambience is perfect and they also have low looking tables cleverly placed. I ordered the spicy chicken Ramen and an Asahi Beer. My Husband ordered wine & Chicken Katsu Curry and commented on how delicious the carrots were within the dish. Both dishes were spiced perfectly with generous portion sizes, so much so we were reluctantly unable to finish our dishes. Would absolutely visit again and as it reminded us of our favourite Japanese restaurants in New York! A must visit place!! Thank you 👌🏽💕🤤

We stopped by for a walk in lunch to be welcomed by a rather dismissive, not interested male staff. 2 people and a 9 months old baby. I appreciate the place may not be designed for your families like ours, but it can still be handled in a kindly and welcoming manner. The waiter could not have been more dismissive, clearly annoyed and bothered by our request. He eventually showed us a table available, pointing at it as if "here you go, see if that works for you" and walked away. He made no effort to accommodate nicely and he could have simply explained in a kind manner that the design of the restaurant wasn't baby friendly. He instead made us feel like he had better things to do than dealing with us. We left the restaurant after working out that it could work with our baby, the waiter didn't even try to look at us leaving or say goodbye or any kind of hospitable word. The food might be great, I don't know as we didn't get the chance to try it, but frankly I am not convinced I would ever try if it is to be served with negative attitude.

The food was tasty and the staff nice. Unfortunately, the chicken ramen contained quite a sizeable moth. We were not charged for the dish at the end of the lunch. This was likely just an unfortunate incident, but I'm afraid one star is in order.

We adore Dozo! It's genuinely one of the best Japanese spots around SW London - consistently great food, very fair pricing for fresh fish and the staff are absolutely professional, friendly and welcoming! The lunch deal is a particular favourite, but we have come for many dinners and it's always a win! Highly recommend the hand rolls, rock shrimp tempura, and spider maki. Support local businesses!

A great Japanese restaurant, I was pleasantly surprised! And the waiter’s attitude is very good. They have a lot of foie gras dishes! It’s something you rarely see in the UK. I highly recommend the eel rice and sashimi platter, as well as the foie gras hand rolls! Delicious 😋

If you come to London and stay in South Kensington, DOZO is a Japanese restaurant worth visiting. The interior has a Japanese style, and it is very popular, but even without a reservation, the wait is not long. We stayed for ten days and ate there twice. If you like Asian Japanese cuisine, their ramen, fried rice, and hot pots are highly recommended. Kids who like Japanese ramen will also love it. It is especially suitable for the rainy and cloudy weather in the UK. If you want to have some hot soup, I highly recommend here. If you don't get a chance to eat here, the other restaurants on the same street are also very good. So far, we have liked all of them. If you come to London, if you live in South Kensington DOZO is a Japanese restaurant worth visiting. The interior of the restaurant is very Japanese-style, and business is very good, but you won’t have to wait too long even if you don’t have a reservation. We stayed for ten days and ate twice. If you like Asian and Japanese food, then this restaurant has ramen, fried rice and The pot dishes are all worth trying, and children who like Japanese ramen will also like it very much. It's especially suitable for the rainy and cloudy British weather. If you want to drink hot soup, you can consider this restaurant. Amazing amazing night! Had Ken and Kitt as servers and they were so so lovely, treated us like family and were very funny and helpful! Been many times before and always amazing, will be back again. Food is affordable and so tasty as always! 😁

It was our first time here and it was amazing. The price point is still reasonable knowing it is located in South Kensington. We got a good selection of food. The Unagi don was soooo soft (but still have to be careful of the little bones), the Spicy Ramen and Tori Yaki Ramen had good amount of flavour and noodles, and the sushi was generous on the topping. The restaurant itself it was aesthetically pleasing. Definitely recommend this place!!

Dozo is an excellent Japanese restaurant with outstanding dishes like the beef sukiyaki and soft shell crab salad. The volcano sushi and drinks are also exceptional, making it a great place to enjoy Japanese cuisine

We were taken care off by Rachel. Felt so welcomed explained the menu and made amazing recommendations.

We were greeted by Rachel upon arrival and she was extremely polite and very smiley. She was very attentive and came to take our order swiftly. When the food came, it was well presented and tasted fantastic. I have tried most Japanese places in London, from Nobu to Zuma to Ikeda to Novikov and the sashimi @ dodo is by far the best. Highly recommend this little gem in the heart of South Ken.

Great food and service :) have been here multiple times and always love the sushi and cocktails. All staff are really nice and friendly.

Food came very late, have ordered bento, katsu curry. Rice was absolutely disgusting.. tembura was pathetic. Not cruntch at all just pure oil. It was horrendous. Asked staff to take service charge out, which is ONLY OPTIONAL, I’ve been aksed WHY. Lol Then She and her colleauge were speaking in their language right after I made payment. Pathetic food pathetic service. I was expecting this place like soho branch but no where near.

Lovely little place for lunch, felt really authentic with the art inside and the (I don't know the right terms) built up platform that you sit on with the pit under the table for your legs. The staff were all friendly, service was very prompt, and most importantly our ramen was delicious

I recently dined at Dozo and had a great experience. The food was excellent, especially the sushi. Ken, our server, was fantastic, friendly and attentive. I highly recommend Dozo and suggest asking for Ken.

Imperial college canteen hahahaha. The volcano roll is super delicious, and all shrimp-related sushi and tempura are super delicious. Especially sister Rachel’s smile is very gentle~

I don't know what the bad behavior reviews are for. I've been going to this restaurant for a year now and every time we leave with a total satisfaction. The staff the food the atmosphere is just beyond perfection. I would also like to add that Ken served us the last time we went and it was great meeting him. He is very sweet and nice just like the rest of the team working there. Would definitely recommend this place!!

Eggshell in my takeaway donburi bowl, I called up and got told “there’s nothing we can do” unless you take a photo of it. I couldn’t as I was disgusted so was already thrown away by that time. The beef was also overcooked. If support was better and a refund had been given I wouldn’t have approached it this way.

Witnessed a neighbouring table of 3 ordered at least 15-20 minutes late but had their bentos ready even a few minutes earlier than my single and simple donburi… Also a noisy place to go, tested 80+ dB on my phone.

Very friendly atmosphere and pleasant setting with candles, soft lighting and little music. I didn't know what to get (not being used to such a diverse menu) so I asked a waitress for some recommendations and I went for tempura makis, it was delicious! The prices are a little high but it's worth a try.

Always excellent food at this lovely little Japanese restaurant. Waiting staff are friendly. A range of dishes and prices which are keen (especially given the location) but turnaround is quick so not a place to linger.

The food here is exceptional. I mean it really blows you away. The place itself however is so tired and in need of refresh it’s tragic. There is a real chef in there somewhere producing memorable dish after memorable dish.
