After discovering this takeaway from word of mouth. The food is good old fashioned Chinese. My third time here and the food is consistently good. Far and away best food I have had in a while. Value for money you can’t beat.

I ordered chicken Cantonese style and personally the texture did not look like chicken and was pink in the inside. It made me sick!!!

Brilliant place. Cheap enough, food is superb and the barrier protecting staff is extremely good. Slight niggle in that they don't deliver, but hey, it's all good.

Chille and spiced salt spare ribs, meat just fell of the bone, cooked to perfection. Roast duck and rice very tasty.

It was the worst food of my life. It was whitewashed and had no flavour whatsoever. If you are sober don’t order it. The food came to us in Chinese so we had to figure out whose dish was whose. I regret not making my own dinner. Packet ramen would have been better.

I was fooled by the high rating, food wasn't good. Chicken in salt & pepper chicken was chewy. There was neither spice or nor flavour, totally bland. Kung Pao chicken tasted sweet as if it was cooked in ketchup.

Exceptional! We have bought takeaway Chinese food from Double8 for several years and as ever, delicious food. Super fresh and excellent portions. Lovely staff. Super friendly and efficient. Wish they accepted card payment as only take cash.

Considering we used Wok Warrior last time and it was basically bin fodder, the food we had last night was fantastic, so flavoursome, plenty of it, and was ready to collect within 15 minutes of ordering. We had an impressive display of tin foil dishes on the table for the eager audience to dive into and apply the simmering portions to their plates. 25 mins later we had 4 food comas in the house. Deleted the aforementioned’s number and 88 are top of the take away favourite list👍

Not up to its usual standard. The hot and sour had less meat in it. Less flavour too. The three delicious was flavourless and the mixed meat curry had little sauce and less meat.

Brilliant Chinese. All the dishes I have had are fresh and brilliant I highly recommend the hot and sour soup although some others have chicken, beef, shrimp and veg in it double 8 only put chicken and veg in the soup but has an amazing flavour

Had a takeaway on Friday and it was not as good as usual the dishes we usually have were different in flavour pork balls were very hard and fatty

Friendly staff, cheap compared to other takeaways, I had duck in plum sauce, it was ok but a bit dull. I shall try another dish next time as there is plenty of choice. They are cash only so be prepared for that!

Been using this place for over 20 years and it cannot be beaten for the quality of food / value. Even the change of ownership a year or so ago does not appear to have affected the quality.

A long, long wait for some very bland food. Never have I tasted a Chinese and felt like I needed to add salt to it! The only reason i gave 2 stars is because it was very cheap… but understandably so.

Great takeaway with really tasty food at a reasonable price for large portions which was great. Very friendly server at the counter. One point to note, they only accept cash with no credit/debit card facilities. There is a shop opposite offering cash back and a pay for cash machine close by.

Food is average but was not great on Sat 22nd Jan. One dish was bad and one of our number vomited. We spent a lot on our meal. Double 8 must get with the times and obtain proper card facilities as we had to cross the road to draw cash which delayed our meal collection and this also cost 99p to take out plus our own bank have also charged us, unnecessarily adding over £3 to our bill in banking charges, creating hassle for their customers, where no doubt they will save. Also they should be more accurate in assessing collection times to prevent hanging around in Covid times. We were regular customers who as a result may not use this take away again.

The takeaway is under new management and the food is just as good as before. It’s been nearly 18 months since I last visited and I am pleased to report the food is delicious and full of flavour, the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Hadn't been here for about 6 months and read some reviews implying it had gone downhill but found this to be untrue. It was a fabulous tasty meal

Really disappointed with how this takeaway has deteriorated in recent months. The last 2 orders have been incorrect when got them home and on calling them they were rude and said bring it back then. Not going to travel 15 minutes each way while rest of food gets cold. Poor service

I use to buy my takeaway fairly often from here. Although nice enough people here the quality seemed not as it used to be .A bit dry to say the least. And I am Always a bit suspicious of those that take just CASH only! Perhaps with the volume of people eating takeaways these days things might have got a bit rushed, than they use to be in less busier times?

I find the latest reviews on here quite astonishing to be honest. I adore chinese food, however living in Amersham we are limited in terms of how often we can visit Double Eight in Aylesbury. Every three of months though we go over to friends and have the most amazing chinese takeaway. This place is just totally unbeatable, and despite our love for Chinese we don't have it as often as we'd like as nothing local to us comes anywhere close., and is just a disappointment once you've had double eight!!

Worst service I've ever had. We ordered a takeaway on a Saturday evening. After arriving at the time we were told to collect, they didn't have the food, and we were told that there had been a mix up and we would have to wait. An hour and many fruitless, unclear and disappointing conversations later we left feeling cold and hungry, still with no Chinese.

The service here was terrible. Having ordered over the phone we arrived on time and had to wait an hour and a half for the food standing outside in the cold. We were then amazed that they only accept cash. During these pandemic days this is unacceptable. Eventually got home to discover part of the order missing.

This is and has been the best Chinese take away for years. Food absolutely fantastic, had others but always found too salty for my taste, Double8 is perfect for me and friends, family no complaints, if you not fussy try sun sun apparently fairly good too like previous reviewer has said, each too his own, I'll stick with the BEST!@

Hands down the worse chinese I’ve ever had! Spent 35£ on a big order and we couldn’t even finish a quarter of a plate each absolutely shocking sticking to sun sun from now on a million times better food

This is the best Chinese restaurant in Aylesbury the food is good, it has a good veggie selection and meat, the prices are a lot cheaper than other local selling the same food. Keep up the good work guys

I must admit the Chinese at double eight is really good value for money, they really pack those containers full to the brim. I think the things I’d recommend is the salt and pepper ribs, peking duck with pancakes, satay chicken skewers and pork egg fried rice. They are super clean too! A few times me and my other half have walked in on them mopping the floors. Would recommend :)

Very odd. Generous portions and not at all oily but quite tasteless. A number of the dishes didn’t taste like you normally expect. Not inedible just odd. I won’t use again.

Tried this takeaway restaurant for the first time and was extremely impressed food was very good and descent portion sizes, will definitely be using again.

Everything on the menu is good. They're noodles (esp Singapore) are excellent as are their salt and pepper ribs. Family love everything they do.

I have never left negative review but this was most probably the worse food we have ever had. Soggy, tasteless, meat wasn’t cooked properly and had bad odour to it. Absolutely disgusting. Me and my partner tried tiny bit and the rest went straight in the bin. I wouldn’t even feed my dogs with their food. Don’t waste your money please go elsewhere.

Whenever and whatever time this place is always very popular with queues. Weekend even busier dont bother to ring. Staff to busy to answer. Always hot and tasty good sized portions too. Dont think there is another place locally that can beat this Chinese! Recommend ....the wait will worth it!

It took a long time to get through by phone to order. The food was good, but not exceptional. Price was reasonable. Chop suey was very bland. Sweet and sour was delicious. They do not accept card payment

Most of the food was lovely, but the rice was overcooked and not salted which made it unpleasant. Portions were a good size.

We've been buying our take-away from Double Eight for years and have never had a bad meal. They never forget to include all of your dishes. The menu has loads of choice and is pretty good value.

This place does not answer the phone! wasted a long time this evening and many times previously trying to ring.

A great Chinese take away. Phoned our order through then went to pick up 15 mins later. Food was hot and tasted great. A large selection of dishes which can all be found on line. Friendly staff and fortune cookies thrown in.

My son said he would like Chinese for dinner but I haven’t really liked any of the Chinese Takeaways that we have tried so Far until today.. Double 8 food is lovely. Not too greasy and tastes very fresh. Everyone in the house enjoyed it. We will definitely use this as our go to Chinese in the future!

We have used Double Eight on many occasion, we went on a Saturday night and queued out the door this did move quickly and had to wait for about 25 minutes (but this was 7pm on Saturday night peak time) but as usual not let down by the quality and quantity of the food. All hot and cooked perfectly and a reasonable price. This is a popular takeaway as always busy but well worth the wait.

Have given my usual Indian take away a miss as fed up with the over oiled food so

we have had food from here a few times and its always very very good and great service just a shame they don't deliver but hey its a small thing and worth the drive from Tring to collect

Still by far the best Chinese takeaway in Aylesbury, I moved away for a few years but when I came back they where still really good, they don’t deliver which is a nuisance, but I would rather walk there barefoot than get a takeaway from another, I’ve tried at least a dozen that deliver & not 1 of them is a patch on double 8
