Myself and my girlfriends booked the Dotty's after Dark for my 40th birthday get together. The staff were really lovely and welcoming. The venue was just perfect and had such a lovely vibe for a brilliant evening. The cost was reasonably priced. We ordered a variety of the platters which everyone loved and the selection was super yummy. Although, the chocolate platter was my favourite! A massive shout-out to all staff last night - Thank you.

Went today with my 10 month old baby and my Mum. Got greeted basically at the door and seated straight away. Warm welcome and helpful. They cleaned the high chair before giving to us, without having to ask, which I very much appreciated. The baby changing unit was very clean and actually used it (I never usually use them at venues). It is quite high up on the wall but being 5'6 I could use it comfortably, just. Got the pancake stack (bacon, dusting of sugar and maple syrup) and pot of tea, came to £13 for both which was well worth it. Tea was loose leaf and delicious, tea set so cute too. Pancakes was tasty and filling which was a pleasant surprise as im usually hungry after. Atmosphere was very peaceful, warm and cosy. Decorated beautifully. Looking forward to going again very soon. Easy for a solo cup or tea but also great place for a special occasion.

Truly beautiful little tea shop. Best looking shop on the high street and perhaps in the borough. We went for the Afternoon Tea and the food was fresh and delicious. Staff are great and at noon on a Sunday the shop was about 80% full with people having tea, coffee, brunch and baked treats. Happy to recommend and will go back regularly.

We had a wonderful experience here celebrating a 90th Birthday. Delicious cream tea ,sandwiches & savories and plentiful tea !!! Friendly,helpful service ....can't recommend this place high enough.

Really lovely lunch would highly recommend the Welsh Rarebit with grilled tomatoes. A great big pot of tea to go with it. Fantastic service again and your staff are amazing. Thank you and look forward to visiting again soon.

Great venue for breakfast, lunch and Afternoon tea. I've sampled all 3 and they are excellent. They do other services too so take a look. Relaxed atmosphere and very friendly staff. Food is fabulous.

We had an afternoon tea as a baby shower for my daughter. We had a designated staff member ( excellent)plus bar and loo to ourselves which was great!food was fresh , tasty, plentiful -we all took a box home . Not cheap (about £40 pp) but fab quality.

Went in for the afternoon tea. Was told we needed to prebpok but the owner was ever so lovely and allowed us to order it. Everything was delicious as expected. Sandwiches were fresh. Spinach tartlet was mouth watering. Scones were to die for. Macha Battenburg was a new highlight The Lemon blondie and Raspberry Posset was the perfect end. Friendly service throughout, a beautiful lil Gem 💎 If you're ever this way, It is not to be missed.

We had a fabulous afternoon at dottys tea garden in Coulsdon - a baby shower private hire and Dotty’s team looked after us fabulously. Beautifully decorated and delicious cakes, sandwiches etc., we all loved the venue and team. Thank you! Highly recommend. 🍰🫖😊

We visited Dotty tea house for first time to celebrate my daughter big birthday wiry my granddaughter and husband . As it was a Saturday we had to order 3 afternoon teas and a child team and pay 50% upfront . It was £32 excluding VAT (which appeared on bill at end ). The afternoon tea was lovely . I ordered a couple of glasses of prosecco and one white sauvignon blanc. The sandwiches , scones and cakes were very nice and we were able to take away what we didn’t eat . However I was taken back when I asked for coffee and was told I could only have americano and would have to pay extra for a cappuccino!! My total bill came to over £160 which far exceeds what is value for money. I could have gone to Ivy for less and this is High St Carshalton !! Ifs nice and unique to Cadshalton to have somewhere nice but seriously overpriced . For my daughter birthday they added a lit candle to a cupcake which was part of the tea . I had a least expected a separate cake ! I understand the owner needs to make a profit but feel rhey have been excessive for the locality. The setvice , cakes etc were lovely but hope they do their homework with other nearby tea places ! Sadly because it was so expensive I cannot recommend to others to return if they are buying the afternoon tea.

Dotty’s always goes the extra mile to make your experience special - I had written in the comments section when I booked the Wednesday Addams themed afternoon tea that it was an early birthday treat for my son and when we arrived to our black lace cobwebbed table clothed table and seated the staff came out singing happy birthday and had put a candle in one of the cupcakes on our afternoon tea. My son was equally thrilled and embarrassed. The afternoon tea was delicious, Dotty’s never disappoints with their food. The sausage rolls and tangy dip were an instant hit and my favourite was the death by chocolate pots ….. so mouthwatering! We had so much we couldn’t finish it all and we were able to box it up and enjoy it over the last few days. Definitely recommend Dotty’s to anyone wanting delicious food in a fun, retro atmosphere with friendly staff.

Ordered afternoon tea for collection. 2 non vegan and one vegan. Picked up order. Non vegan consisted of 4 full sized cakes each, 2 scones each, cream, jam and sandwiches. Vegan was one slice of cake, two scones, jam and sandwiches. Really disappointed with the small vegan box as I ordered the same last year and got 3 cakes and grapes, 2 scones, vegan butter and jam and sandwiches. I expected to get more than one slice of cake considering non vegans get 4 for the same price. They were all large pieces too. I complained and got a call from apologised and promised to send me a voucher via email. It's been over 2 weeks and I have received nothing. Customer service is poor. If you're offering a vegan afternoon tea at least make it consistent with non vegan. If you cannot do this then you shouldn't offer the service. We've had vegan afternoon tea from here on other occasions and it has usually been plentiful.

Pre booked Afternoon tea ( Wednesday themed) It was done very well and beautiful food . Decorated lovely with witches hats etc and felt special . Quite magical . Menu with Wednesday Halloween themed food set menu. Maybe they should have had done with someone on the door to greet you and sit you down as we waited at the counter a while not knowing where to go. And they run out of orange juice on the first day on first sitting . Me personally prefer my savoury food hot like quiches and sausage rolls but that’s just my preference. The food was still amazing and so was dotty’s . My niece was in heaven and we loved the experience and the atmosphere. £19.99 per person a set high tea . They also had a set breakfast which was cheaper .

My 2 friends and I had lunch at Dottys Tea house, to celebrate my up coming birthday. I chose the eggs Benedict which is a favorite meal of mine. However I was a bit disappointed with this one. The muffin wasn’t toasted, so was cold....

We were a walk-in customer yesterday. We were seated quickly and given menus. I ordered the salmon and broccoli fritatta. I wish I had taken a photo as whilst it tasted good, it was honestly the smallest portion ever. It would have fed a child the cost was £8.50! After lunch, we opted for a sweet treat. My mum ordered a slice of lemon drizzle. It was dry, and I had absolutely no lemon flavouring in the sponge itself. We asked to replace it, which they did swiftly. However, what followed next was incredibly off-putting and should never happen in any food establishment. The server used her hands to put the cake my mum chose as a replacement onto the plate. I asked for some more hot water, just to top up the cup that is pictured with this review. I was refused.. honestly, what does hot water cost? What is the value of good customer service/ satisfaction? This is terrible customer service! If I had asked for a whole pot of hot water, I could understand. In conclusion, absolutely ridiculous, in my opinion. It's not our first time visiting. However, I will be in absolutely NO rush to head back, which is a real shame.

My daughter treated me a birthday afternoon tea at Dotty’s today. We didn’t have a booking but within 10-15 mins we were presented with two amazing tier platters with a selection of sandwiches, cakes , scones and lemon posette. All fresh and delicious. Lovely service....

We celebrated my Nan’s 60th wedding anniversary, unfortunately my grandad passed away and so we went out to celebrate on his behalf. I told Dottys Tea House and they surprised me and my nan with a lovely glass of bubbly and a beautiful dessert with a written message. Such a gorgeous little touch and my nan was very tearful and grateful. On top of this, the food was absolutely wonderful, everything was fresh and we were so full, we came back with treats and finished it off in the evening. The tea was plentiful which was nice to see as usually you only get a cup of two in other places. The atmosphere was lovely and the staff were brilliant. Thank you so much to the team, it’s our favourite little spot and we wouldn’t go anywhere else.

The cakes were average-one was a bit stale-and they were on the small side. It is worth being aware that a piece of cake is roughly £5. I was a little bit shocked by this price-worth checking before ordering. A pot of tea for 2 was £6 something. The 3 stars is about the prices primarily. Not sure that I would visit again due to the price unfortunately. Worth knowing that they do have gluten free options.

The cream tea and service were great, however the reason I gave 3 stars relates to pricing. The website listed the traditional cream tea at £6.95 and I duly made my online booking. When we arrived the menu listed the traditional cream tea at £9.95....

Our cream tea was lovely but my problem was with the pricing. On the website the traditional cream tea was priced at £6.95. However when I went this afternoon we were actually charged £9.95 pp. A discrepancy of 50% is pretty shocking and very misleading. When I returned home after checking the website again I phoned up. I was informed that this had been pointed out by someone else but the website had not been updated. I don't know if other items are incorrectly priced but at its kindest this is very sloppy and poor.

Such a gorgeous little gem. I took my LO as a treat after finishing school for the year (she’s 5) and Alma & Barbara we’re so sweet and attentive, making my LO feel so special and talking to her on her level. The hot chocolate went down well too! Probably one of the most delicious cups of tea I’ve ever had too (Ditty’s blend) and I wish they sold the teapots and cake stands as all meals will feel a bit boring for a while! haha. We couldn’t finish everything, though when it first arrived I thought we could, but they brought boxes for us to pack everything up to go) and my other LO at home finished the lot, so zero waste! Thanks for taking such excellent care of us and for making it such a special experience.

Wonderful selection of sandwiches, cakes, and scones, and bottomless tea! Music too loud and abrasive on arrival, but staff did change this. Extra vegetarian sandwiches provided after we pointed out that most in party are vegetarian (although we advised this on booking). A bit pricey, but a wonderful treat. Would recommend 👌

On my bus rides to Sutton, Dotty's teahouse is one of those places that you want to get off and visit. I have been wanting to visit this place since lockdown. Strangely, it all worked out one afternoon when we thought we didn't have time but we did and luckily we managed to get the last available table as it was a busy Saturday. It was nice as our table was on the corner by the stairs so it was nice and quiet. As well as the three tier afternoon tea sets, there were so many sweet treats in the cabinet to choose from. In the end, we narrowed it down to a fresh raspberry cream eclair and a rhubarb mini loaf with giggles afternoon tea and a coffee Frappuccino. The Fresh cream raspberry eclair was dusted in some edible sparkling glitter and freeze dried raspberry pieces. I love the fresh fluffy cream which really makes a difference and the pretty whole sweet tasting vibrant raspberries. The Rhubarb mini loaf was simply delicious, the loaf was moist with refreshing rhubarb chunks with a light icing garnished with freeze dried raspberry pieces. The loaf was really comforting because it had that home made taste to it. To summarize, I am so glad to have finally tried this place.

I usually don't rate any place with one star, but this Cafe deserves it. We went there for lunch and with no advise they were just serving sandwiches. I understand the importance to divide the breakfast to the lunch service at one point of the morning, but can't see any real reason to don't be able to cook one scrumbled egg for a toddler. The Cafe was full when we arrived and they gave us a table close to the bar. When we received our food I asked for cutlery and the young waitress, really surprised for the request, said "you are sitting on an unusual table, that's why I did not give you any cutlery": I am still thinking what's the sense of this sentence and if for an unusual table and an horrible service isn't fare to at least offer the drinks to your customers. Avoid.

I’ve been to Dotty’s a fair few times & I have to say that I now feel the need to comment on the rude staff that work there. I can’t help but feel that the people who do work there do not want to be there?! They can force a smile every now & then but honestly they just seem like it’s a chore! It’s lovey to see the place busy being a small business however they’re so quick to just brush you off & turn you away with no empathy. Was made to feel like a burden again today as the lady begrudgingly greeting people put a temporary table in place (after I specifically said 2 adults & 2 toddlers just one high chair needed) then said “oh two prams?” “No sorry” I mean.. This isn’t the first time either. I didn’t even get as far to offering to leave my pram at the side or something as the woman basically might as well of asked us to leave. Before this I did ask if there would be a table free soon, the question just went over her head & I then saw 2 men sit down at a table that was resevered for them which could’ve accommodated 4 - if they wanted more custom they could’ve potentially asked if the gentlemen would’ve minded swapping tables but as I say, they don’t want to be there let alone want you there. It’s a shame, the place is pretty, it’s convenient & the coffee is nice. The food is ok, it really is just the staff that let this place down..

We visited Dotty's Tea House to celebrate Mother's Day belatedly as I'd been too unwell to do anything on the actual day. This is our first time here a table was reserved and ready for us upstairs. It's all very pretty with flowers everywhere and vintage cups, saucers and plates. We were a group of seven adults and one child for an afternoon tea. Pots of our selected teas arrived this was unlimited and several tiered plates of food arrived to share between two. There was a selection of sandwiches some on white bread and some on brown, tuna and cucumber, ham and mustard, egg and mayo and cheese and chutney, we're on one plate. A couple of scones with clotted cream and a pot of jam was on the next and a selection of mini cakes on the top plate. All delicious, I'll be honest it wasn't cheap £32.95 each but we enjoyed the whole experience and it was a special occasion.

Nice little place for a brunch or cream tea! I have been to this place a couple of times before. Didn’t enjoy their cream tea very much (this was before the pandemic!). on a Saturday around 1:30, the place had a lot of availability! Then it got filled up in an hour or so. They were so busy and I found service a bit hit and miss. Took ages to even get attention of one of the staffs for bill. Also the food we order meant to come with their signature dish bubble and squeak! Only right at the end when they collected the plates, I enquired! Apparently they had run out of it. Things to note - they have time restrictions for serving certain things! They don’t serve brunch after 2pm. I called up for reservations but they said it was first come first serve! They have upstairs - new dining area opening soon for groups and parties! The food was average! The vibe was okay.

Lived in the area for a while, but this is the first time we had time to try try this place. I mainly been a bit sceptical as some reviews are quite bad. When we walked in all tables seemed to be reserved, but staff found us a table quickly. We had lunch, 2 cafe lates and club sandwich and croque Madame. Price was a bit expensive £10 per sandwich, but it was really tasty! Girl who served us was really friendly and helpful, we had a very nice experience! And coffee was also excellent! We’ll be back! Recommend! Toilets also nice and clean!

We had afternoon tea at Dotties. The service by Barbara was exceptional. All food served was explained so you knew exactly what you had. Everything served, sandwiches, scones and cakes were so fresh. The scones were still warm 😊 Would recommend to anyone whether you just come in for some fantastic pastries or afternoon tea.

The cake was okay, although I feel like it could be softer. Anyway, this place is worth visiting.

A friend took me here to treat me to lunch. I ordered a 'meal deal' listed on the menu as a sandwich, slice of Victoria sponge cake and a pot of tea. My friend ordered Victoria sponge and a pot of tea. The cheese and chutney sandwich I chose was made from thin sliced, cheap supermarket style bread, with a few thin slices of bland (probably mild cheddar) cheese; the main taste was that of the chutney. The pot of tea was nice but, we were not given enough milk, and had to request more. After waiting for quite some time for my cake to arrive, I went to the counter and, politely told the lady that I hadn't received my cake. Without so much as a word to me or, even looking at me, she cut a slice of cake onto a plate, and then, still ignoring my presence at the counter, she handed the plate to the waiter, and told him to take it to my table. I found her attitude to be extremely rude. When the cake arrived at our table we noticed it was an extremely small slice - less than half the size of my friends portion. She took it to the counter to point out it was a very thin sliced and was told that was how it comes as part of a 'meal deal'. It was not stated on the menu that you would only get a thin slice of cake! The 'victoria sponge's had only a jam filling, with no cream. There were a few blobs of pink cream piped around the outside of the cake. So I would class that as a jam sponge. So: poor service, a rude woman behind the counter, a cheap, tasteless sandwich, having to ask for enough milk, a penny pinching slice of cake and, a jam sponge masquerading as a Victoria sponge. As someone else suggested: the lady behind the counter lacks the qualities needed for friendly, polite customer service. Needless to say, that was my first and, last visit Dotty's Tea House. If you read my other Google reviews, you will notice I seldom give such a poor review.
