Curries all look the same and taste the same. Bland food with a spicy taste. Boring. Won’t order again. Disappointing.

We accidentally found this gem of a restaurant and booked for the following week as the smell and atmosphere was gorgeous when we went in. So glad we did. Beautiful fresh food, catered to vegan and amazing service. Definitely go. The Madras was actually a madras too… 👌

What a wonderful evening we had at Dostana in Woolton Village 🔥 We were made to feel so welcome, their hospitality is just outstanding! What we ate: 🌱 Chutney Tray & Poppadoms - the Mint Chutney is deeelish, could happily eat this with a spoon 🤣 Ali our host showed us how to mix all the chutneys together for an authentic taste explosion! 👌 💣Chat Bombs - everytime we visit Dostana we get the Chat Bombs - they're stuffed with Chickpeas and Spices in crispy balls of yumminess (quite similar to a poppadom), topped with Pomegranates..these are a MUST!! 🌶️ Samosa Chatt - Indian Pockets filled with Veggies and deep fried then served with Tamarind and that gorgeous Mint Chutney, they were so tasty! 🔥WE went for the Chefs Recommendation - Vegetable Naga Buna - a hot and spicy curry made with Naga Chillis it was so hot and flavourful...not the kind of heat you get from a Vindaloo it was something quite different, if you want something hot definitely try the Naga Buna, I LOVED it! We also had Pilau Rice and a Vegan Friendly Garlic Naan 🫓 Washed down with Vegan & Alcohol Free Cobra 🐍 Each dish was so FULL of flavour and it was hard to pick a favourite but I think it was the Naga Buna!💯 If you're in or around Liverpool, Dostana is an absolute must-visit for foodies who love an Indian feast!

We had a fantastic meal at Dostana for my birthday meal. The food was such good quality, with loads of flavour, great portions and a nice amount of spice. We had the mixed kebab starters, chaat, chicken 65 and a range of curry (dopiaza, bhuna and karahi). AJ and the other staff were so attentive, friendly and funny! The setting is traditional but modern and comfortable. There's a huge amount of options on the menu and good pricing. We would highly recommend, brilliant service!

Ordered a take away for my son's birthday this evening. The chips where terrible arrived cold and full of eyes and green and also undercooked. The naan bread was tiny and the meal freezing. A SMALL bottle of coke cost £3.60 though it was the standard size (not tight in any way) but this was an absolute joke! Not happy the standards have gone down in my opinion wasn't happy

Avoid this place at all costs if you value your hard earned cash. Portions are tiny. Chips were undercooked, naan bread, full of Greece. Paid £3.40 for a small bottle of Coke. No wonder the woman who delivered my food was driving a Brand new BMW. You’d thought no the food would be nice being small portions for preposterous prices but it’s appalling. AGAIN AVOID AVOID AVIOD!!!!

This restaurant used to be great pre Covid. Since then it’s really gone down hill. We’ve tried it multiple times since hoping it will get better but we won’t waste our money trying again. The takeaway being hot is the only good point. The quality of ingredients are poor. The curry sauce was really watery and the chicken was tough and inedible.

Absolute garbage. £20 for 3 lamb chops that belonged to the biggest lamb I’ve ever seen. Probably mutton or hog it. Overall quality a poor 2 out of ten. Absolute rubbish. I’ll never return. 1st and last.

We ordered a takeaway from here after finishing work and I have to say the food was absolutely amazing, still really hot when we got it home, we will definitely be returning to dine in next time. Top quality and lovely staff too.

Celebrated my sons 21st birthday here with family...who are all big Indian food lovers, me not so much but wow...how my thoughts have changed. From the starters, to sides, to mains (buttered chicken was the nicest I’ve ever tried) we could not fault the food. Tasty, fresh and full of flavour. The staff couldn’t do enough for us, pleasant, attentive and patient when taking a large table booking order and helping the not so spicy food lovers make the perfect choice in dishes. Honestly...this place is a little gem that iv drove past many a time but now will be my family go to for Indian food. Excellent food and service in Dostana this evening. Even on a really busy Saturday service the staff couldn’t do enough to look after me, my husband and our two young sons. The food was absolutely delicious as well. Highly recommended

First time here and I can honestly say one if the best Indian meals we have had in a long time. The staff were so friendly from welcoming us on our arrival to making recommendations from the menu up until we left nothing was too much trouble. AJ and the staff couldn’t be more welcoming with a truly family vibe from the moment we walked in. Food… ammmazzing . You will not be disappointed … book now for a fabulous dining experience. The meal at this restaurant was outstanding. The service was impeccable and the speed of service was most impressive considering the room was full. I can't praise this establishment enough as the other Indian eatery in Woolton is pretty appalling I had been put off altogether. Everything was hot, well prepared and so full of flavour. Great food and amazing service! My only complaint would be that both times I have visited I have been seated on the small mezzanine floor which is great for a small group because it is private however there is no ambiance up there whatsoever! The lighting is very harsh for a low ceiling and the furniture feels too bulky for the space - feels like a missed opportunity to create a more intimate space! This of course is just my own opinion and doesn’t detract from the great experiences!

My friend and i went to Dostana, and it was one of the best Indian meals we’ve had in a very long time. We regularly eat Indian food and my friend in particular isn’t easily impressed. The food was exceptional, and this visit came on the back of a visit to another restaurant not so far away from here which was very disappointing (Which I already submitted a review about) The service was excellent, the restaurant nicely laid out, and as I said, the food was second to none. Dostana will be my Indian restaurant of choice in South Liverpool going forward.

Cracking restaurant, with a very personal service and great authentic Indian cuisine. Ali and his team make you feel very welcome and they're always at hand to guide you on the menu choices to suit your tastes. On a wine note, they have the best value and quality house red wine at just £16 a bottle, the perfect accompaniment to the tasty food. Thanks guys ❤️

Went here last night for dinner and was blown away by the whole experience. The inside has a homely feel and is well presented. You are greeted and taken to your table by the staff who make you feel so welcome as if you’re family. He happily explained the menu to us, throwing in some recommendations and was more than happy to accommodate to any queries or changes to a dish if required. We ordered starters & mains. The starters arrived shortly after ordering looking very appetising and was even joined with a bowl of dry ice to give a smoking effect like a little bit of a show piece at your table. We ordered the poppa doms & chutney tray, chat bombs & chicken chat starters, butter chicken, chicken korma, pilau rice and a cheese naan and Wow! The food was delicious! Again all served swiftly and very pleasing to the eye, I couldn’t wait to dig in! The staff were so attentive to each and every table, the atmosphere was wonderful. I would really recommend and will definitely be returning. Thank you Dostana!

Only the name of dishes are Indian. They don’t taste like Indian food at all. Hate restauranteurs like these who name themselves as Indian, and don’t know what Indian food tastes like.

The owner attitude is awful. Rude, inpatient and not willing to listen to customers. Do not use your bank card if you order from here. They take money out of your account, still not refunded 2 months later, then are rude and aggressive when you ask for it back

Went out with friends for a meal (July 5th) somebody had decided to come here instead of our usual restaurant the Holdi Bad move we had the usual chutney tray and poperdoms and starter then we had to keep asking for the main meals as it was taking so long I had chicken balti but it tasted bland to me unfortunately the next morning I had food poisoning which lasted for about 12 hours obviously I am guessing that the chicken was on the turn Never been unwell in all the times of eating at the Holdi Won't be returning to this restaurant

What a memorable experience. Delicious food cooked with care and important details (homemade paneer; expertly cooked food). The staff was kind, friendly, genuine and helpful (AJ pictured here). Absolutely disgrace of a person taking our orders. Over packed the bag which he admitted himself then proceeded to shout and argue down the phone saying it's on us after spending a substantial amount. Lied down the phone and accused of all sorts. So who ever is this 2nd brother is who takes the orders, you will be called out and I am not going to stop until you're no longer part of that restaurant. All family and friend will no longer order from yourselves.

The best Indian in the north west, forget Liverpool! It has a unique menu with items that you won't get anywhere else. Try the chicken 65 with marabi paratha; incredible!

Just received our order lady was so nice delivering it ..chicken korma was delicious and balti also pilau rice also delicious.. would have been 5 stars only for nann bread being burnt and cold very small for the price compared to other Indian restaurants however please take it as good criticism we will definitely be back fantastic curries thank you .

Really disappointed. I've eaten here a few times and had a takeaway too which were all nice, but our takeaway tonight was awful. The food was 20mins late, the onion bhajis were soggy, the mushroom rice was really soggy and the paneer shahee was genuinely one of the worst things I've ever eaten. Really bland, very pale sauce which tasted watery, no discernable flavours... my partner always gets shahee and it has never been like that before in colour or taste.

Terrible experience... waiter refused to allow us to order the meals we requested and instead insisted on other dishes. We complied out of convenience. I ordered a take away for me and my son. We opened the bag and the poppadoms were crushed into small pieces. My main Chicken Korma was a disgrace, the sauce was watery with hardly any taste. My son's Lamb Pasanda was equally awful. The lamb had no taste and the sauce was watery.The chips were greasy and the plain Naan and peshwari Naan were also quite greasy. We paid £37 for this disgraceful food. My son rang Dostana to complain and the guy he spoke to offered us free Poppadoms next time we order!! You could tell that he wasn't bothered. Should have gone to.the Holdi, and will not ever be going back to Dostana

I’ve giving two stars for the starter the chicken chat as that was the best thing about the take away. The main meal we got chicken tikka rogan Josh and it was awful, so watery and no flavour. We usually get a chicken rogan josh and its usually a rich tomato dish full of flavour but that wasn’t the case from here unfortunately. I think it’s safe to say we won’t be ordering from here again.

As visitors to England we’ve experienced many a fake Indian curry and been lucky to find a few truly tasty and real authentic ones… this is definitely the later. AJ and his team obviously love what they do and take pride in doing it well....

It was a takeaway, very nice good quality and taste, only thing is next time I will get 2 rice as there is a fair amount of sauce with chicken shahee and a single rice was swimming still good.

Every time I eat here I’m always satisfied. Food is great, fast service, staff are always very friendly and make you feel welcome from the moment you enter. The atmosphere is always nice and chilled which is great for wanting a quiet meal. 10/10👍

We do not do take-aways often. I will start by saying this is more not eating in the restaurant than what most folk consider a take away. My taste buds were blown away flavour after flavour . I tried all the Kishmarir dishes which was a new thing for me and they were off the scale . I also had the sea bass and the skin just flaked away from the fish. We have all said we need to make a plan to attend the restaurant because if their take away food is that good can not wait to see what it is like on site. Highly flavoursome, Highly test bud active, Highly recommend

Shocking service and food received 27.11.2021. 2 hairs found in naan and delivered all containers opened and food everywhere. Called and spoke to them, took zero responsibility, had to ask for apology and blamed Uber. Wouldn’t recommend at all.

Very friendly staff and a great menu that advises on allergies and what each item contains. The food itself is gorgeous and each dish is very flavourful (from what I've tried at least). Would definitely recommend!
