Dosa n Chutny in Wandsworth

I absolutely loved the Masala Dosai. It was excellent! Already looking forward to the next one! Also enjoyed the Lamb Samosas.

A welcoming restaurant with friendly front staff - both intelligent Masters degree students. The Masala Dosa is huge and crisp. I have had some soggy dosas recently. Perhaps that is a Sri Lankan style. It came with tasty sambhar and chutneys. We also ordered an Idly Sambhar dish to share. Also very nice. As a gift we were offered a small shot glass of lamb soup. It was delicious. I'll definitely make a journey just for that lamb soup.

I have ordered idly & vada for a starter, which was reasonably pleasant to eat, coconut chutney was tasteless but the sambar and mint/chilli condemn was tasty. Main course arrived Chicken Briyani, absolute nonsense, boiled chicken with some spicy rice, I can still taste the rawness chicken, decided not to order anything further I did inform two members of staff but they can't be bothered, charged me full price with no apology or any effort to rectify the issue. Only had spoon full of rice

The service is beyond terrible it’s disgusting and disappointing. We were told the food would be freshly made without salt , as we all have serious health issues therefore non of us use salt in foods . We asked if this is ok one of there rude , clueless waitresses said ok 👌. After tasting the food it contained so much salt we were shocked. We wouldn’t advise anyone with health problems or anyone who is health conscious to eat from this disgusting restaurant.

Fantastic service, desirous food and beer and very reasonably priced. The Chicken Kothu, Saag aloo and lamb biriyani are a must!!

The improved décor is the only improvement. Expected to reserve a table when all table were supposedly reserved and the customers did not arrive until our bill was paid. The staff were rude and would not accommodate wheelchair. The service may have been slow due to this. The order was simple but wrong order. I guess this place is only for able bodied individuals who are under 40. The food was generic. Shame this was a good place for a dosa.

Under new management. My dosa was actually as soggy as a washing up cloth. Horrible. It may have been a wet plate, water split on it or worse. I will have to find a new dosa restaurant. The young waitresses look harassed and underpaid as the previous writer said.

Delicious authentic Indian food. Super fresh dosas and variety of meat and vegetarian food. Abhisha was very sweet and attentive. We will be back.

My boyfriend and I came here for lunch after an appointment at the St.George’s hospital nearby. We live in Brighton. I had read good reviews & it did not disappoint. The waitress was nice, I asked her to recommend starters & mains as I didn’t know what anything was. I can’t remember the name of the starter but it was delicious, I have a photo. The other was veg samosas, which I chose. The mains were chefs special lamb curry & prawn curry. With plain rice & a bread I don’t know the name of, but is in the other photo. All was very special, we were very impressed. Would definitely recommend! 👍🏼😊

First time went here. The idly and sambar was delicious. Good ambiance with lovely tamil songs had that south indian vibe. Their Chettinad chicken was yummy. Will visit here again and again. Big thank you to the staff who served us graciously.

I have been visiting Dosa n Chutney for over a decade, the food has kept its quality and value throughout. The waitress Priya is super friendly. The Dosas are filling and the chutneys with them are refreshing. I highly recommend the Mysore Masala Dosa.

It is hard to explain how amazing the dosa’s are here. We would recommend the lollipop chicken, dosa, biryanis, butter chicken and amazing nan. Quite bright lighting and packed….but just delightful. Well worth a trip even if it takes and hour to get to.

Pero después de eso, todo salió mal.Esperamos 15 minutos antes de que recibieran nuestro pedido de alimentos y bebidas y luego, 30 minutos después, aún no recibimos nada y nos preocupamos de que todos los que vinieron después de nosotros recibieran sus pedidos, verificamos con 3 servidores diferentes que todos dijeron que la comida estará allí en 5 minutos.Después de 45 minutos sin nada, tuvimos que ir a hablar con el servidor nuevamente, quien luego confirmó que nuestras órdenes se habían perdido y ¡culpó a su tableta por ello! ! !Luego esperamos otros 10 minutos para nuestras bebidas y otros 20 minutos para la comida. Ni disculpas adecuadas ni tampoco quitar nada de la factura.Luego fui a pagar la factura al final y luego, después de 5 minutos de espera, la señora me dijo que el cajero automático de crédito se había estrellado y que había pagado en efectivo. Todo esto significaba que casi perdimos nuestro tren a casa. Cuando llegamos a casa, había un cargo pendiente en mi tarjeta de crédito que tardó un tiempo en solucionarse.En resumen, aunque la comida estaba bien, todo lo demás era espectacularmente malo.Evitaré este lugar en el futuro.

We've visited Sri Lanka several times and just love the food. We tried a few 'Sri Lankan' restaurants in London, including quite a famous one in the west end, none of them can compare with this place.Good portions, fabulous taste, very friendly staff and decent prices. Well worth a visit to Tooting Broadway to eat here.We found it by accident, there was a serious problem with signalling on the rail network, southern rail dumped us at Balham and we were advised to go to Tooting to get a bus to Croydon. The bus was cancelled for some reason and we had an hours wait for a taxi, so popped into this place for a bite and a pint. What a find!Would definitely go out of my way to eat there again.

Been here several times but my last visit has bought me here to write a review.The restaurant is cold, had to wear my jacket for my meal, front door faulty and blows in cold wind.Dosa is fantastic.I had a chicken biryani, it taste good however by the time I got home I had the worst diarrhea! It was due to the biryani that was not freshly cooked to order! Just reheated!AviodChicken 65Any biryani and bring your coats to enjoy your meal.

They serve wonderful dosas here with splendid curries too. The staff are friendly and you can have a beer or wine. There are no frills but the food quality is outstanding and the value incredible. For a true taste of South India it is hard to beat. Special!

Been here many times, food and service always good. Good prices, fully licensed, highly recommended. Could do with a a bit of brightening up at the shop front, but don’t let that put you off going in. And they take the card.

The meals were delicious, exceptional customer service from the staff and a nice atmosphere with a mixture of couples, families and friends. Very reasonable and lovely, fresh food.

Dosa n Chutney is a friendly place with a range of options on the menu which are all very affordable. The masala dosa is excellent, and I will also definitely be going back for the chilli idlis. Definitely somewhere I will go again and again!

Food was fantastic and incredible value for money. Brilliant to go with friends/family for a good catch up over some good grub. 3 of us shared the cauliflower florets, two massala dosas, thw chana paneer, an aubegine curry and a naan and it was the perfect amount. The paneer starter I had here was the nicest I've ever had. The mix of spice was beautiful! I had a dosa for my main and it was both a great size and price. The portion sizes, particularly for the main was really good. My partner's main was the size of a main course.

Visited this popular cafe on a Sunday. It was very busy. The menu selection is good and food was worth waiting for. Only problem is the service. Staff are friendly but the cafe could do with more staff.

We were a group of 2 adults and a child. When we popped in the restaurant the tables were almost fully occupied but we luckily got a table.

We’ve had a dinner in Dosa and Chutney couple times recently, the waiters are super friendly and the service is really good, they honestly make big effort.

We wanted a vegetarian option to eat in and this was a really wonderful find. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Its a simple place and relaxed. Free water on the table as well. The dosa and dips are out of this world. The idli are scrumptious. The mango lassi was really refreshing we wanted more. Looking around at other tables, everyone was enjoying their food as well. If we are in the area again we will definitely drop in.

We popped into Dosa n Chuntney for an early lunch, On this visit we wanted to try something new and chose the Methu Vada to start these are small lentil doughnuts with spices and a lovely slightly spicy dip. Ideal I'd you don't like very hot/Spicy options. These were followed with a masala dosa which were served with lovely dips/chutneys. A full and varied menu available.

After a search on google maps for something different. We find this great little find, if walking would probably have walked straight passed. Seeing the menu made us want to go and visit as we love dosa and had a local restaurant in Middlesbrough which closed. So when we find one when away we always visit. This will no be on our list to make regular visits when in Colliers Wood for work.

And that’s what it was a very good Dosa, we both had the chicken masala dosa. Delicious, our first time here but we will be back Great masala tea too

Was recommended by a colleague to celebrate another colleagues leaving dinner. I have to say food was amazing, it was my first time having a dosa and i was really impressed. The food and the customer service was top quality.

This is one of many Sri Lankan / South Indian restaurants that dot the HIgh Street here. Except for Saravana Bhavan which is a class apart, the others are generally disappointing. First of all, except SB, all of them have dead animals on the menu. I had the sambar vada. The sambar was excellent and hit the spot with its high spice level. However, the vadas were not fluffy but stone hard. The ghee masala dosa had a strange after taste due to the poor quality of ghee used. The masala was not authentic and inedible. Never again.

We've been to Dosa n Chutny twice and have also ordered a takeaway and each time has been delicious. The paneer butter masala, ghost saagwala, mutton kothu and the dosas are great and really reasonably priced - we've had a meal for two for £15! Always hot and tastes fresh.

Unpretentious, casual, clean eatery offering a range of South Indian dishes. Wheel chair friendly. We visited in February (evening) and it was bitterly cold in the restaurant (as well as lack of hot water in the washrooms) and we had to put on our winter coats....

We always get Dosa from here. Lovely chutneys. Tried the fresh lemon drink tonight and it was fab. Will definitely be returning.

We have been coming to Dosa n Chutney for 8 years. The food is always exceptional quality, the service is friendly and it is really an authentic food experience which is amazing value for money. We rate this restaurant very highly - it is one of our favourites!

Decided to go for a curry last night, apart from the usual curry houses I know in Tooting, I saw this recommended in The Guardian as one of the best in London so we gave it a visit. Don't be put off by the greasy spoon-esq exterior, the food makes up for it. This made a change from our usual Chicken Madras and Vegetable Bhuna, the idli and the dosas were delicious, unlike anything we ever had before. The only downside was the service wasn't the best, it took us 10 minutes to get their attention despite walking around us continuously, it also didn't feel professional as well, if they can improve that by the next time we go there, this rating will go up a full extra star.

Great dosas. Preferred the standard masala dosa to the Mysore or special dosas, but all good. The Tamil dish with aubergine and the Sag Aloo were very good too. We found the waiters friendly and service was quick. Price reasonable. Recommended.

Terrible food, terrible service and disorganised. They forgot about several items which we ordered, what did get served was not very good at all. Out of our group of 5, all ordering separate dishes, we agreed it was the worst curry we have every had.

Even if, as many of the complimentary reviews say, the food is good value, that simply isn't enough to ever take me back to this restaurant.

Great food however very poor service. Waited 40 mins for our order to be taken and 2 hours for half of our food to come. Other customers were walking into the kitchen to investigate where their food was. Only 1 waitor working in the whole restaurant. Manager is very moody and abrupt, would not accept to discount such a bad service which we experienced. Will never return and I also advise everyone else not to visit.

Firstly the staff in this restaurant barely acknowledge that they have customer and take ages to come to take your order. (Only 3 tables including ours were in use during our visit)

Don’t go here! Never had such bad service. Manager was so so so rude. Dosa was nice but not worth this rubbish service. Meat was bad quality (had lamb chops and chicken biryani).

Tooting is one of the best places of the city where you can find Indian food in abundance. Dosa n Chutney is a good South Indian restaurant with right spicy non veg items along with traditional ones like sambar vada to chicken 65, pomfret fry. The starters and dry foods are good with drinks as well.

I wrote review on january about the same place given 5 star. After that i been to this place every week. Since last 2 months this place is going down and down again. Last visit was so pathetic. Food and service both failed to acheive the standard. None of my friends are happy. Please try to improve the service and the food quality.

I live in SW London, and jump at the opportunity to pop down to Dosa n Chutny. I must've been about ten times in the last few months. Firstly, their dosas are fabulous. I've travelled around the south of India so I can confidently say I know what a good dosa tastes like. The paneer and chicken tikka, so good, and their curries are just delicious. Seriously haven't eaten a bad thing here, and I love taking my friends and family. It's also VERY reasonably priced! The service and atmosphere doesn't always match the outstanding food but I don't particularly care. Definitely recommend.

Very poor service, no friendly welcome greeting. Given another persons order (not forgiveable - the restaurant was not busy). People who came after us were served before us, Dosa did not arrive hot. food quality has gone down from a couple of years ago, prices have gone up (though might still be considered inexpensive). Poor depressing Atmosphere from what it was a few years ago, toilets not the best. Not recommended

Mi marido y yo fuimos para dosa y nos quedamos realmente impresionados. Tales alimentos sabrosos y entrantes. Camarero indio educado y servicial cuando pedí opciones sin gluten soy celíaca. Mango lassi son las mejores que he probado.

Dejemos clara una cosa, no vengas a Dosa n Chutney esperaba un restaurante de 5 estrellas de lujo con comida cuidadosamente hechos a mano. Este lugar es mejor disfrutar con buenos amigos si quieres un bocado rápido. Ofrecen excelente entrantes como el Gobi Masala Dosa y la coliflor es genial.

Nothing bad in cheap food and cheap location, but considering the offer in the area, this restaurant struggles to stand up in terms of quality. Service could be faster and a bit mor eprofessional; the place could be cleaner and overalla bit more "exciting".

A basic cafe with dosas and and a good mix vegetable and meat curries. Excellent dosas. The Manchurian cauliflower is grease filled heaven! The South Indian aubergine curry is tangy and tasty.

I went into dosa and chutney to eat on Sunday 10th June with my friends and this Asian girl seated us and greeted us with a lovely smile. Then this Eastern European took out order and she did not greet us and her face was screwed look which put me off the place instantly. So then I asked her a question about the dosa I brought and she didn’t respond and walked right passed. I found that very un appealing and atrocious!! So after when she came with our starters she just slammed the plate in front of us which was so rude and disgusting making me and friends want to leave.

La cena con un amigo. Es uno de esos lugares que es un odder cruce entre un restaurante y una cafetería, hay servicio de mesa, las sillas son desoladoras cosas de plástico. La comida estaba bien, y era bien de precio, pero no era una experiencia increíble, digamos. Probablemente no volveremos para la cena de nuevo, pero creo que el pop para una comida para llevar.

Been here after year ... everything has gone downhill ! Lamb chops were dry, chilli paneer was bland.... tried biryani but it had no flavour... faluda wasn’t as good as it used to be ! Very disappointed... I don’t think we are going back ever.
