as a mexican this does not reflect our culture in any way. the food was greasy and horrible. on top of that, the manager was extremely rude and disrespectful to his staff and openly screamed at the girls working in the restaurant. also his breath smelled so bad? would not recommend visiting at all.

Magnificent , so kind & careing

Where to even begin. I had always heard of Brighton's legendary hospitality and kindness so consider my horror when I had to witness the disgusting behaviour of the manager towards his employees throughout the course of my meal. The shouting would've been enough for me to leave but the language we were subjected to was unacceptable. Just when I thought I couldn't feel more sorry for the staff, I saw the 'food' they had to serve. Would not recommend.

If you enjoy old sweaty men screaming and humiliating young women then this is the place for you !! The manager walks around harassing and humiliating his staff when to be honest they were doing an incredible job considering the environment they are forced to work in. Also food is terrible

Amazing experience, lovely staff and comforting food!

The food was very tasty (chicken and chorizo sizzle plate) however there not enough meat for the price. Luckily I also got some banging wings so I could use them to get a bit more meat in the wrap but in all honesty a bit of a waste of money. When I said something to the server she said that it may be portion controlled. Well if that's the case seems kind of silly to be that small. My wife got a different but similar meal with about double the amount on meat in her 3 than were suspected to spread across my 4. So I think the sizzle plate is used to trick people into thinking they get more than they do. And then just pack it all up with 4 dozen onions and 37 peppers. Wings still banging though. The service was on point, sit where we wanted, came over to see how we were a couple times and the table had cool as hell sombreros to wear like idiots lol. Be careful what you order in case you pay yo much for a load of vege. Other than that pretty good

I can not say whether this is authentic Mexican food or not….what I would say is that I didn’t enjoy the Margaritas nor the Beef Chilli….but perhaps I am accustomed to a Westernised Version of what Mexican is. They also chased us out at 11pm as no license after. Wouldn’t go again but each to their own.

The food was very tasty but not authentic mexican.

Bit of a disappointment, not really Mexican. Chile con carne (minced beef with kidney beans) is not Mexican, stuffed in a tortilla and labelled an enchilada does not make it so. Enchiladas are supposed to be oven baked, these were not.

We had the sizzling chicken fajitas. The salsa wasn't freshly prepared and the wraps were pretty tasteless. Chicken was OK but there wasn't much of it. Overall, the food was really average. The venue is bright and colourful but lacking in character.

I saw the manager was harassing his employee and couldn’t believe it was happening in real life! Unless he cherishes the people who work for him, how come could I say this restaurant is worth visiting??? Please put your manners back in PLEASE.

The food is not really authentic to Mexican food, but the worst part is the way the manager treats the rest of the employees. He was yelling at them and making us customers feel very uncomfortable, and that is not the Mexican spirit! We are all about welcoming people in like family! Very disappointed, won't be back.

The food was honestly horrible, chicken was tough and grisly, margaritas tasted weirdly of milk and were un-drinkable, vegetables in taquitos was raw, everything was so greasy, nachos were bad quality with barely any toppings, small portions, very expensive for what it is. The staff were nice though.

Wow amazing tacos and my wife’s burrito was so yummy. Sangria was perfect and great cozy atmosphere with music. Will be returning

Food was good, I got the tacos, I felt the chicken was slightly dry and there wasn’t a lot of toppings in them, there was more salad than anything else. The music was quite loud, but the atmosphere was fun and on theme with the restaurant itself. Our server was nice but would’ve appreciated a more attentive service. Good portion for what you’re paying for, overall the experience could defined be enhanced through more attentive service :)

Vibrant decor and lovely staff. Nachos were excellent and the chicken wings. Chicken fajitas were bland, jerk chicken was awful, soggy, flavourless and not remotely spicy - served with rice that tasted bland and like uncle bens and out of the packet, homemade mango salsa was awful too. Ribs were okay, corn on the cob tasted like mush. All in all, terribly disappointing, we won’t be going back again

Family owned restaurant. The portions are hugeeeee…. Quantity over quality. Overall it’s a very average Mexican place. Service was nice and friendly!

UNLABELLED PEANUTS. I had a very painful allergic reaction to the mole sauce on the enchilada that did not have allergens listed by the dish. Not familiar with mole sauce, I didn't expect there to be peanuts in an enchilada. When I asked the staff if there were nuts in the dish (after I started having an allergic reaction) they said no, just sesame. After being extremely ill for the remainder of the evening, I re-looked at the menu online to find that in the fine print at the bottom of the menu, in a big block of text, they say the mole sauce has peanuts in it. This is not good enough. It's really dangerous. I called the manager to express how important it is that the menu be labelled clearly and I was told that I hadn't paid attention when reading the menu. And he then aggressively demanded to know who had served me, as if to pin all the blame on the waiting staff. As well as demanding my phone number so he could Whatsapp me pictures of his menu. Of course I had read the menu as I'm very allergic. It had (GF) beside the enchilada for gluten free, as I told him on the phone, but no (N). To make sure I wasn't crazy, I searched online again and found that there is in fact no (N) beside the enchilada at all on the most up to date menus. There was an (N) on a menu from 4 years ago but someone has clearly decided to remove it. It's just extremely dangerous. Especially for a dish that isn't famous for containing potential nut allergens. It is also unacceptable to then blame the customer and other staff members (who were lovely) instead of accepting responsibility and taking the note to update the menus. The rest of the staff were exceptional, some clearly very new - but wonderful and attentive. The food itself was nice. The atmosphere and experience fun and relaxed. It's just such a shame that the menu caused so many dangerous problems and the management were so exceptionally rude. The sole reason for the rating lands on the latter.

Cute, homemade food which feels authentic and family run

Popped in for a quick lunch. Absolutely amazing food. Had the taquitos starter. Plenty for lunch. Tasted amazing and beautifully presented. Only sorry I live too far away to return.

Nell and Juliana were excellent host. We had wonderful food that was quick and a delight. They kept us fed and watered and super attentive!

Had tacos and a sharing platter. Food was insipid and bland. None of it seemed fresh, it lacked flavour and must have been cooked from frozen, especially the potato skins which were stone cold in the middlr and dripping wet. The wings had no flavour at all. Sweetcorn was not fresh, onion rings were okay, nachos were stale, soft, shop-bought ones. The tacos were totally flavourless too. Chicken with mango but no taste of either. Also covered in diced tomato which made everything wet and difficult to eat. The chicken was one large chunk of breast rather than pulled chicken so no chance of getting flavour into it anyway. This was £40 with compulsory service charge and dreadful. So disappointing. The venue LOOKS good. But you'd get more authentic food from an American chain like Tortilla.

Visited the restaurant on a Tuesday. The sign outside indicates 2-4-1 on ESPECIALIDADES (food), but when we asked for this, we were told it only applies to cocktails. We paid £1 extra for the quesadillas to have cheese in (anywhere else they usually come with cheese as standard). Upon eating them, the quesadillas seemingly didn’t have any cheese in them. Gestured over for the waitress, who was just standing at the bar (not serving) who made eye contact, but ignored us. She eventually had someone else come over to us. We advised that the quesadillas were missing the cheese, and were told we were wrong. Upon getting the bill, the manager did advise he’d taken the £1 cheese cost off the bill. Paid bill. I went up to the toilet, went to open the door, and due to only have a flimsy lock, the door partially opened onto someone who was already in there (embarrassing). Went back to our table to warn my friend before she went up (only 1 toilet, so couldn’t go at the same time). During this we were rudely told to give up our table by the manager? I explained the delay was due to there being only 1 toilet/having to let my friend know about the lack of a properly locking door. We were there less than an hour, so hardly hogging the table. Overall a hostile experience from the manager. Never again.

Arrived there on a hot day about 1:00pm and was placed at the back end of the quiet restaurant where there's no fresh air or even fan. Ordered drinks to start while we thought about food options and a minute later the waitress came back and told us we could not order drinks without a food order to go with it. The restaurant wasn't even a quarter full and nobody was waiting to come in either. The staff left the implication you're obligated to order food before you can have drinks and there's absolutely no signage on the shop front or on the menu to indicate that this is the case. We left without any drinks or food for a more friendly establishment around the corner. Customer service is clearly not their strength. Don't go there if you're thirsty.

It's a bit of a cheesy Mexican throwback this place but really nice meal out ! Good prices, nice staff and couldn't fault the food. Would definitely recommend if you want that nostalgic anglo-mex style experience!

We had nachos to start which we're filling and tasty We had fajitas for two and three was so much filling we couldn't eat it all. I think you don't need a starter if you have these. The chicken was so moist and tasty and all the bits with it made a lovely meal. We have been before and had different options which have all been good. Staff very helpful and friendly too.

I was excited to eat here since I’ve walked past it often but never gone inside. It was pretty good! I think it’s a bit expensive for what it is but I enjoyed everything I ate and the service was friendly. It’s small and quiet (at least when I ate here) but cosy and comfortable. They have some interesting food options on the menu. Just a heads up: their website is outdated with incorrect information about a lunchtime deal

Went here the other day for lunch, the service was so quick and the Mexican music just made it such a nice vibe. The portions are very big and I recommend the Buffalo wings for starter as they are so nice! For 2 main meals, a starter and 2 drinks it cost £45 including service charge which I think was worth it. Great Mexican food and great for a nice filling meal

We had a prawn fajitas to share as our main and it was amazing. Very generous amount of food with great taste. We ordered the margarita sorbet and chili chocolate brownie as well and it was really great. Absolutely worth to try and definitely recommended to end your meal with some desserts here. Staffs were attentive and lovely atmosphere!

My wife and I visited this place Monday 1st April. We had not eaten here since it was closed due to a fire. The place was still cozy, with very friendly and helpful staff. The food had not changed and we were glad we revisited.

We had a prawn fajitas to share as our main and it was amazing. Very generous amount of food with great taste. They also have various cocktail options, we went with the Mexican woowoo and it was gorgeous. We ordered the margarita sorbet and chili chocolate brownie as well and it was really great. Definitely recommended to end your meal with some desserts. Staffs were attentive and lovely atmosphere!

I've walked by this restaurant countless times and it's usually very busy, but after visiting I don't know why! I have to agree with the other low ratings. The food served here is poor quality, bland and seemed to be microwaved. I am really surprised that the kitchen thinks their (taco) chicken is acceptable. The only exceptions to the above was the refried beans, chilli brownie and coconut ice cream. These 3 items were really tasty and possibly handmade. Staff were friendly but not particularly attentive, despite there only being two others tables to wait on. I wouldn't go back.

Would like to clarify that the servers we had were amazing! So sweet and attentive, getting us some free tortilla crisps and salsa for the table when our meal was late. However, the food (veggie fajitas and free tortilla chips and salsa) was very bland and mostly consisted of onion. Unfortunately, I couldn't make it through even a quarter of the meal - very expensive for ingredients of no real value. The restaurant was also very noisy, and it was hard to hear conversations due to the music. It was also way too hot in there!

Mexican is my favourite cuisine but I'm gluten free, so I often find it hard to find anything except for Nachos, but we had enchiladas and potato skins and probably the best food of my life, can't rate any higher! Thoroughly recommend better food than the more famous chains! Good prices and great portions!

Went here because La Choza’s queue was too long (our usual Mexican choice) the food was below average unfortunately, quesadilla wasn’t fried/had no cheese/was tasteless, presentation was poor and I’m just so confused why this has the same rating as la choza as it’s so much worse and more expensive! Wouldn’t bother unfortunately. (Also the music is much too loud)

Was so excited to revisit after the fire as this was one of my favourite restaurants but left extremely let down. Visited in the run up to Christmas around lunch time, food was terrible and we both came away feeling gross. Ordered nachos and chicken fajitas so nothing complicated. Chicken fajitas were basically a skillet of onions with little of anything else, tortillas were stale and very little of the rest of the ingredients when you’re sharing. Might have understood if they were busy but only 3 tables in. Ordered a tequila sunrise that was bright pink and synthetic tasting. Won’t be rushing to come back which is a real shame!

By far the worst Mexican food we have ever eaten, the issue for me is the ingredients, cheapest dips, cheese, salad, rice and meat.. completely flavourless. The rice was just an uncle bens savoury rice The dips are like the cheap ones, salsa was not salsa, just chopped tomatoes, the guacamole was out of a tube, the sour cream was runny. They must be saving money by reducing the amount of cheeses they use because the top on our food looked like it been zested with cheese rather than a large amount, imagine a plate of Doritos… that’s what the nachos are! I actually can’t believe this gets good reviews, but after reading the bad ones they are all saying very similar things. We only ate the food as we were starving hungry. To add insult to the tasteless food we paid around £60 for, there is also a service charge of 10%, this is an absolute joke In my opinion. 2 trips to a table, one for drinks one for food does not warrant a 10% charge of any bills, it’s part of the job. Had the food been good we would tip As we always do. Honestly, save your money eat else where

I love Mexican food, and was so pleased to find this place had finally reopened. I'm so glad we booked as even though it was midweek, the place was jammed. The staff were run off their feet but were still attentive and made sure everyone was having a good time. The food was delicious. Our group consisted of a meat eater, a vegan and a vegetarian and we were all very happy with our choices and enjoyed them a lot! I must add that having food on a real plate is a big plus in my book so I hope they don't follow the trend of serving in plastic baskets in paper. Plus delicious Margaritas!

We have been to Dos Sombreros a couple of time now. The food is beautiful full of flavour and the margaritas are to die for. Wonderful atmosphere, the restaurant is bright and cheerful. The staff are attentive and friendly. We definitely will be back again soon!

Visited on Sunday evening, enjoyed the happy hour cocktails, has to be a Margaritas. Mexican food was great with very attentive staff. The fajitas for two was plentiful for us and very tasty. Enjoyed this restaurant.

We walked in as the restaurant looked inviting. The welcome was friendly. The staff were friendly and helpful and the service was great. We both had the chilli con carne and it was delicious! Perfect for a cold afternoon!

We love to visit independent restaurants wherever we can but was extremely disappointed with our meal. We ordered enchiladas and they were very dry with two pieces of chicken in each one.....think I'll stick to my el paso meal kit in future!

We spotted this great resturant and were so glad to have made the right decision. Food was absolutely out of this world. Hu by and I love Mexican and have had wonderful meals in many countries. We both agreed service was excellent and food delish. Portions were humungeous though so be warned to pace yourself!!

Bright clean decor after refurb. Had eaten here before years ago and wasnt impressed then but gave it another go. Wrong decision. Wobbly table, chair was broken. Forgot to bring us tap water (which was our drink order) for the meal. chilli was on the cold side (friend should have sent it back), stew average. Nachos basic. As with most mexicans cheap food lacking in real flavour all pre-prepared and microwaved. Music is extremely loud but they did turn it down on reques but still was loud hard to talk. Over all bland theres much better out there.

A solid 4 stars. Pretty new in town. Good variety of dishes and drinks. Nice to see options other than just tacos and nachoes etc. Staff friendly and efficient. Pretty good value for money and a 20% off next meal voucher on receipt.

Great to see this very colourful restaurant back open - Great spot for a bit of people watching if you get a window seat ! We probably thought we'd played safe by ordering fillet steak fajitas, and although it was very tasty, the steak was generous but pretty tough. we wouldnt order it with steak again but but there are several other options such as chicken, prawns etc. Would def visit again as were local and try other stuff on the menu. Looses a star for the fillet

FABULOUS! We used to come here before the closure. We visited tonight and was pleased to see it was just as good as it used to be. Beautiful food and cocktails. Very reasonable too.
