Dorchester Fish and Chips in Stockport

Good size and thickness of fish. Chips were nicely cooked and still soft. Not the cheapest but definitely one of the best in the area. Definitely worth the extra cost for size and quality. Usually cut the fish in half and get two meals out of it with a round of bread and mushy peas.

Best Chippy for miles around. and its on my doorstep! Travel all over the UK.but haven't found a Chippy such as this ,clean ,tidy f,ood cooked perfectly every time, Hope Theo The team keep the same standards. for years to come.

I was introduced to this chippy by a friend who lives close to it. I have visited her on several occasions and every time the staff have been excellent and the food has been properly cooked and presented. The quality has never dropped and the portions are generous, it's most certainly enough food for 2 meals. When covid restrictions were in full force they made sure that they exceeded the minimum requirements and they enforced them with politeness and courtesy at all times. This is a hidden gem that I am happy to share.

Dorchester is definitely the best chippy in the area, we go quite regularly now and we are never disappointed. Large portions, friendly staff, and their adaptations due to COVID have ensured everyone's safety without compromising on the quality of the food or service. Looking forward to visiting again tonight!

High quality and tasty haddock and cod, with mushy peas and chunky chips , impossible to top ! Very friendly and quick service, also pre-orders .

Forget locally, this is one of the best chippies I've ever been to. Always fresh fish perfectly cooked and enough chips to fill the greediest belly! Eat out extensively but always impressed and reminded just how good these guys are every single time we go back.

Large portions. Nice staff. Top food. I drive past 3 closer chip shops to go here. Worth the extra journey.

Called in recently for a chippy tea. Despite the difficult times, the service was slick and the quality as high as ever with light crispy batter on the fish and chips perfectly cooked. This is certainly the benchmark for other chippies to aspire to.

Fabulous food. The portions are fantastic and everything tastes amazing. I like the mild curry sauce and my husband likes the hot curry sauce, so we just have to get one of each! The staff are great. Nothing is ever too much trouble. The fish are always freshly cooked, so if you want a lightly battered fish, then you just ask as you walk in. Excellent value for money

when our awesome granddaughter comes to stay with us the first question is "can we have a chippy tea" and has to be from the Dorchester so if its good enough for Martha and she is an expert on fish and chips

Great chippie serving excellent fish and chips. Staff always pleasant and efficient. very popular with locals and passing trade, but never too busy to provide good service. Never had a 'stale' fish yet! Youngsters always enjoy the 'non-fish' alternatives. My go-to choice for a fish supper.

Need I say more. We hadn't been here for a while but after a pint in the pub, we fancied a chippy tea. Whilst there is a chippy at the bottom of our road, this is way better and worth the inconvenience of a short drive. The fish was perfectly cooked with the batter crispy but not over cooked. The chips were equally good. Everything that our national take away dish should be, coupled with a bit of cheeky banter with the gut behind the counter.

It’s a shame as the fish and chips and choice of curry sauce are all really nice tasting without doubt we all end up with really bad stomached the next day . It’s regardless of what we order even if it was just chips. So I can only assume it’s what the food is cooked in . Having said that other people have said the same !! Lovely manners of the man that does the frying .

Best fish and chips in the area in my opinion! Love it here the fish is always super fresh and wonderful and the chips aren’t as greasy as some others. Service is always cheerful and pleasant and the guy cooking the fish will always ask as you go in if you want fish so can start cooking it fresh for you

We live in Australia and when we visit family in Hazel Grove we always get Dorchester fish and chips. We hang out for it when we are there. Friendly and efficient staff too.

Regularly visit this place, maybe once a month and the food is always good. Guaranteed hot and of good quality

Cme for the sunday special (again) we 've been 4 times over the summer. Welcomed by Sony's team really easy place to drop in for a spot of dinner. The thati was a good choice as it has a lot of items which is good for sharing between a big family and its very reasonable.

Need I say more. The fish was perfectly cooked with the batter crispy but not over cooked. The chips were equally good.

Lovely clean chippy cod is always very fresh lovely batter plenty of chips in all the portions we find a portion between us is always enough staff always friendly only downside is they don't accept card payments which we find particularly annoying 8n this day and age hope they change this soon that's why I'm not giving a 5 review

Visit here every week. Really clean. Staff are always great. All meals have been fantastic. Have tried several different items on the menu. Try the 'cod barm'.

There are some good chippies in Hazel Grove, but this one is consistently good and the best of the bunch. Good food, good portions and the staff are always friendly.

Went here today at dinner time had pie chips n gravy & my pal had chips n spicey curry excellent food a bit on the dear side from what ime used to but a very generous portion it has to be said

This is our local chippy of choice and we often go there for our Friday Night treat. The portions are very generous (we only need one portion of chips for the two of us - we are in our 60's) and the fish and burgers are excellent. We like our curry sauce and they do a family size one which does for both of us. Service is good though it can get a bit busy - there is lots of parking on the side road off at the roundabout just past the shop if the layby is full.

Visited here last Friday evening after picking my daughter up from the local swimming baths.We had fish and chips,pie and chips.The fish was cooked fresh and was chunky and juicy.The chips were hot and perfect not bitty.Is by far the best Chippy around.Would recommend to anyone.My daughter drools over this plaice(he he)every time we go past.Keep up the good work......ps when are you going to branch out to Disley......

Excellent fish and chips here with a warm welcome. However busy there's not long to wait. My son always goes for the chicken bites, excellent quality food.

I've used the Dorchester numerous times and just love the food they produce. The staff are great as well....always nice to feel that your custom is appreciated.

Only second visit here in a few months, not normally a fan of chipys but wanted a quick tea after a long day. Chips we're lovely and fresh and the gravy and mushy peas were also of good quality. All in all good quality for a fair price and the food was fresh. Would go there again.

Have had our chippy tea from here a few times now and it vies with the Strawberry Pig for the coveted title of our favourite chippy! The first thing I always look for in a good chippy is the portion size. Top marks for that.Next is quality of chips - Again top marks. Tasty, not greasy at all, cooked to perfection.Quality of fish - Top marks once again. Batter is just right - nice and crispy and light and not at all greasy.All complimented by an owner who clearly has a passion for his business and is happy to have a good chat with his customers! I have frequented the Dorchester on a few occasions , and the service and the food have always been of a very high standard , the fish are always freshly fried , which makes them so flavoursome , the chips and gravy or curry sauce , whichever you prefer are very tasty , along with the peas ! Delicious . Having also eaten the fish cakes I would recommend them too, also the packaging of the fish , boxed with slices of lemon , nice touch .

i got hardly any chips which were burnt as well. curry sauce was watery and not hot at all and the fish had like 3 layers of batter and there was hardly any fish do not recommend this chippy at all. not happy

Maybe a bad night but we went there on a friend's recommendation and having seen the queues outside. The chips were fine, nothing special, the peas were an alarming neon green and complete liquid (could not identify a pea as such) but it was the fish that ruined it for me. Either the batter was too thin - I don't like lots in any case, OR the oil was not hot enough. The oil had permeated the batter and all I could taste was oil, not fish.When you have the Fiveways and the Boulevard an equidistance from our house, why would we ever go back?A poor third place on our chippy preferences.

I've had my lunch from here many times and would heartily recommend it. The fish is a nice size and both fish and chips are always freshly cooked. The only downside is that sometimes it takes up to 10 mins to cook the fish but the wait is always well worth it.

It's a refreshing change to get well cooked fish and chips . The fish are good sized portions and are not greasy and the chips are well cooked even when they are busy they don't seem to serve uncooked pale chips like some chip shops do when busy. You probably won't find a cleaner well kept chip shop either. All staff very efficient and friendly as well. Yum yum !

Coming from Newcastle i have struggled to find a fish shop that serves proper fish, thats until i found the Dorchester. The fish and chips are delicious, service excellant, always served with a smile.and spotless premises.

It's so rare to get great fish and chips. Quality, milky, fresh, skinned fish, and hot chips which aren't too greasy. The haddock and cod here are lovely, as are the chips. And the blokes behind the counter are affable and obliging. The batter is thin and crispy- as it should be. They offer free lemon wedges, and boxes and forks, for ease of consumption, either in the car or on a nearby bench (classy!). I've seldom had such great fish 'n' chips. I wish they did calamari in tempura batter- I bet there would be a market!

This is by far the best chippy around. We travel 15 mins here just to get our hands on a good traditional fish and chip supper! Great choice of fish. The staff are welcoming. Portion sizes are great value. Restaurant quality at take away prices. These guys really know their stuff!

Last year when I was looking after my ailing Mum 24/7 this Fish and Chip Shop was our saving grace. We knew that we could pop out and take away a wonderful, tasty, nutritious meal at least once a week, if not more. I agree with the previous review that portions can be shared .... They are very generous. The service is friendly and efficient. We don't go as often now, but when we do, we know we are going to enjoy the Fish and Chips immensely. Fabulous .... Keep frying!
