Don Luigi's Restaurant in Kirklees

We went for Christmas dinner and it was absolutely perfect, beautiful food, quick and organised service and lovely family atmosphere, we will definitely be booking for 2025

We booked a table for 6 adults and 3 children for 5pm on Friday 25th October. On arrival with 2 of the children in push chairs we asked for 2 high chairs to replace 2 of the adult chairs. The waitress created an uncomfortable situation where clearly we had asked rather a lot of the restaurant to provide high chairs and it was like they had never seen a push chair, let alone 2 in the restaurant before. It was my wife's 60th birthday celebration and we took a homemade cake, only to be told that if we cut it, we would be charged an additional £10. Again, it was not so much the cost, but the way in which the information was delivered. Once at the table we asked if we could pre order pasta for 2 of the children as 1 of them was not very well and needed food. We were told that this was against policy and that their food had to be served at the same time as ours. It was 5pm and there was only 1 other table occupied in the restaurant, when challenged, she went to ask the chef, who clearly had no problem doing the children's food first, which arrived 5 minutes later! After ordering our food (6 different meals) everyone thought they were excellent, really tasty authentic Italian food (10 out of 10 for the chefs). As for the restaurant supervisor who dealt with us, she gets 1 out of 10, if it had not been my wife's birthday, I would have walked out well before we got our food. The rest of the waiters and waitresses looked terrified and miserable, not sure if this was down to the presence of the supervisor, but a real shame, when such good food is available. Overall, a score of 2 for the experience.

This wonderful restaurant is a real treasure. The owners and all the team are always so welcoming and friendly. The service is great, and the menu choices are all the favourite Italian pasta and pizza dishes with the addition of a really varied specials board. Some really good wines at good prices. Definitely a place to recommend. I Can’t wait for an opportunity to return for another long lunch. Food exceptional. Good value. Friendly and professional. Lovely restaurant.

It has been a few months since we've been to Casa Luli as we've moved house and my Mum has been ill, however we went tonight and it reminded us exactly what we have been missing. This really is an exceptional restaurant, the food atmosphere and service come together to deliver an amazing experience. Seven people left very happy tonight.

This is not a good review. In chronological order: We sat in the reception bar to wait for our guests. A waitress at the serving hatch sneezed all over the food she was collecting and carried on with it to a table. I joked that order had now got extra Motzorelli. I had a pint of Peroni which tasted sour. We had prawn cocktail and the prawns were freezing cold with ice particles and so tough. No one finished them. Then, I had spaghetti bolognese. The least you would expect at an Italian restaurant is homemade spaghetti. No it was shop bought cheap tasteless spag and the sauce was thick mince and onions - revolting. They have lost our custom forever

Fantastic service ,Fantastic food,one of the waitresses noticed I was very warm and without asking went and got me a fan,little things like that make a big difference

A fabulous evening to celebrate our granddaughter birthday. Food was superb, as it always is. The service 1st class. We weren't rushed. The staff are lovely

This place is my now my favourite go to when we are looking for a meal out and so convenient that it’s on our doorstep. Have been several times now and never been disappointed. Traditional authentic Italian and the staff are all amazing. The pate is to die for and have tried many mains and all have been gorgeous. The sea bass and sauce is outstanding. I can honestly say there is no better place for a quality authentic meal. Try it once and I guarantee you will definitely be back. I am not normally one to frequent the same place as often as we do here but when it comes to Italian I daren’t go anywhere else as I know we would be disappointed.

First time at Casa Luli and we weren't disappointed. Lovely, authentic restaurant inside, we were very relaxed there.Food was fantastic, especially our starters (baked goats cheese and fried halloumi). Staff were attentive and polite.We have booked to go again and would definitely recommend.

Had an early Valentine’s Day treat for us both. This is the second time we have visited the family run business and we weren’t disappointed. On arrival greeted by friendly staff and shown straight to our table. Given plenty of time to decide on our meals, drinks order taken swiftly. Didn’t haven’t to wait long for starters or main course and food was excellent to say the least. Steaks and carbonara definitely recommended with a cheeky dessert to finish. On leaving had a pleasant conversation with owner passing out thoughts and praise onto them. Thank you again definitely be back very soon. Also compliments to the chef and waitress staff who can’t do enough to make your visit complete.

Chose here for my Son's birthday as he loves Italian food and we weren't disappointed. Lovely place, lovely staff and fantastic food, best chicken Kiev I've ever had and everyone enjoyed their meals just as much. Highly recommended.

The food and service were second to none. I had the prawn and salmon for starters, the traditional turkey with all the trimmings for mains and the tiramisu for pudding. All were consistently great. The place was brimming with people and the staff were always on the ball. Made the day feel special.

We had an amazing night watching lady GaGa who was absolutely great. Food was amazing and huge portions. We had pate and a prawn and salmon starter, grilled fish and a carbonara and a kids pizza, tiramisu and cheese cake all meals were lovely especially the fish which was so fresh and perfectly cooked. Well done to all staff who were so friendly and attentive. We are lucky this place is a minutes walk from our house and we will be booking again for showcase nights x

We have lived in Cleckheaton for years but never been here so decided to walk up one Sunday evening. This turned out to be one of the hottest days of the year which was maybe a mistake as the restaurant is not air conditioned! When we had finished melting we ordered a bottle of the Pinot Grigio blush rose whilst we looked at the menu. My partner went for the black pudding with a peppercorn sauce and myself the haloumi and chorizo. Neither Italian but nice all the same. For main we both had pizza, a Diavola and an Nduja and pepper. The pizzas were nice, not the best I’ve ever had but ok. There was a lot of base and not quite so much topping. The prices are very reasonable. Our bill with a tip came to about £60. The restaurant is very chintzy but it was busy with a nice atmosphere and the service was good. We had a great evening albeit a tad warm but yeh I think I’d go again 😊

Fantastic dinner ! we enjoyed our two meal courses at Casa Luli very nice and well presented starter followed by a fantastic main everything is presented wonderfully. The quality of customer service is outstanding nothing is to much attention for feel great there it’s amazing just recommending it Thank you for looking after us definitely we will come back ..

Changed menus, far more expensive and the quality of food is not as good as previous visits. When it comes to paying the bill, beware of extra costs being added. Very underhand.

An absolute gem! The owners and staff are so friendly and attentive. The food is exceptional. Excellent choice of Italian and Mediterranean cuisine.

What can I say, best Italian restaurant in the area by a country mile. Food is absolutely immense, staff are always happy and willing to help. Highly recommended and when we next decide to have an Italian, will definitely be revisiting.

We're lucky to live close to Casa Luli and it's great to be able to go for a meal again. Food, service and atmosphere are all excellent . Despite being closed for months and months Casa Luli is straight back to being amazing. We took my parents to thank them for looking after the kids for so long while we worked. My Mum ordered a salad forgetting to request it without dressing - as soon as the staff spotted she wasn't enjoying it a plain one arrived within minutes. Not the restaurant's fault but sorted instantly. Everyone loved their food, kids shared pizza and pasta eating nearly everything. Adults enjoyed pizza, pasta and fish. Deserts were excellent. Peroni on draft rather than Poretti which was even better (San Miguel if you prefer).Little touches like the Limoncello and orange juice for the kids all add to the experience. It's an amazing restaurant run by a lovely family and Cleckheaton/Hightown/Liversedge are lucky to have it - Go Casa Luli!

First day open to eat inside! We couldn’t wait to go back to Casa Luli. I must say everything surpassed what we could of expected. Luli invested in extra staff, no table had to wait or even ask for service as staff were on hand constantly. The restaurant has had changes to accommodate, such as extra space in toilets and additional sink also large bar area with additional seating. Above all though the food was exceptional. Can’t speak highly enough to all the family who go out of their way for my family and I. Especially my 4yr old niece. Thanks and see you again very soon. Another fantastic meal from this wonderful family restaurant. Ordered four starters & mains all cooked to perfection. Packed so they stayed warm .Free bottle of wine as we had spent over a certain another. Absolutely love the food here & can’t wait until we are able to be sat inside & enjoy their incredible hospitality

What a gem this restaurant is. Since Aldos was taken over it has been hard to find somewhere good enough to dine for an Italian. Causa Lulu has answered that for us. Good service, great food, great atmosphere even during lockdown and to top it all a complimentary glass of limoncello at the end. We'll be back.

I am so lucky living only 10 minutes walk away from this restaurant. Myself and my son visited this evening for the early bird menu. Full Covid guidelines are adhered to. Friendly and professional service. Our food was brought to our table fresh and hot. I had a slight issue with my main and it was removed from my bill. I can only recommend the dessert trio where you get a pink profiterole with cheesecake and tiramisu.

Attended the day following the ending of the government subsidy scheme. The service and food were superb. The restaurant had a good atmosphere. Plenty of choice from the early bird menu and very well priced. It is always a pleasure to go.

We have been here several times & food always good, service was a bit slow because of the eat out but so what enjoy being out & getting a bit of normality back into our lives. Lovely family & try do do all they can to make your evening a good one.Shame on the people that complain at this time in our lives.We will defiantly be going back.

Visited here this evening, our first time since lockdown. The food was amazing as usual, lovely food and lovely family, can’t wait to return.

Service is shocking here! Asked for a jug of water, it still hadn’t arrived when we were paying our bill. Lasagne was dry, chips arrived 15mins after our meal. Complained to the staff who said we should appreciate that they had fit us in, even though we had booked a table a week in advance! Terrible restaurant, far too warm, no air conditioning, fans etc! Run down shack of a place! Avoid at all costs

While I appreciate that eat out help out campaign is changing the dynamics in the restaurant trade the bottom line you need to maintain standards and if that means limiting numbers then in the long term that is better for any business. The food was hot and of a very good standard but there is little point waxing lyrical about the food when the service is so shockingly bad. We were shown to to our table ahead of others that had been waiting much longer than us which made us feel uncomfortable but menus were on the table and after 5 minutes we were asked if wanted to order drinks. We ordered a bottle of wine and a beer. 20 minutes later we were still waiting for drinks and to order food. When we did eventually get to order it was a 25 minute wait for starters and a further 40 minutes until the main arrived. The 2nd beer also took over 20 minutes to arrive. As it was now getting late we skipped the desert menu fearing we may have wait until the next day!But we did ask for the bill - we asked 3 different waitresses 5 times for the bill and then after 47 minutes we gave up and went to the reception ourselves only to find 4 other groups waiting to pay one person saying he had been waiting over an hour Between courses then an hour for the bill. My advice would be reduce your numbers and get more competent waiting staff and get rid of the people who are incapable of making out bills. Such a pity as the food was so good.

Really lovely visit to Casa Luli for the first time tonight. Had been recommended by a friend and it didn’t disappoint. Despite it being very busy, during the Eat Out to Help Out scheme, and a very hot evening, the staff couldn’t do enough for us and were very friendly. They explained about the short notice staffing issues (due to a bereavement) and we didn’t mind waiting. Really lovely family running it and they deserve success.The only fly in the ointment was the drunk family on the table next to us who swore throughout their meal (we gasped at the C word and then the N word came out) even when small children were on the table to next to them! But the cheaper deals bring out the cheaper people I guess! All in all, a lovely evening and we will definitely be back.

Been in the restaraunt a few times and decided to try the takeaway option. Food ready to collect in 15 mins and was exceptionally good. Had a Calzone and family had pizzas and fries. Will be going again very soon

So happy to be able to visit our favourite restaurant Casa Luli tonight as our first time back out since March. Throughout our time there we watched as they seamlessly adhered to all guidelines by thoroughly wiping down all areas including chairs, sanitised often & wore masks. However, this did not make any difference to our usual experience of feeling extremely welcomed & comfortable by all of the Casa Luli family (especially to my 4 yr old niece Jasmine) The food was 10/10 as usual along having their extensive specials board & the tables were spaced apart so we didn’t feel too close to other guests. Although we felt a little uneasy about venturing into the restaurant world again I can confidently say we felt safe & comfortable and had a fantastic evening.

This was our first meal out since mid March and it did not disappoint in any way. The restaurant have taken the reopening guidelines very seriously but not at the expense of great food and great service. All five of us had great meals with the linguini picante and calzone being stand out. Having a draft Poretti was just outstanding. Just goes to show that businesses that adapt will do well no matter what. Look forward to visiting again ASAP...

We have been having takeaways once a week over the past 3 weeks of lockdown - tonight's was excellent. We are absolutely stuffed! We had 2 meatball portions - quite generous, plus fries and a pizza between us - then added on drinks and puds - got a bit carried away. The service was friendly and the food delicious. We will certainly be back. Good value too.

What a lovely change to the normal takeaway. I had mediterranean salmon and my partner the rib eye steak. They were both so tasty!

We were first in, pre booked table all ready. Food and service excellent, not a problem to bring kids meals out with our starters, really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Plenty of options/variety on the menu, and on the specials board.

I regularly organise evening meals here for a group of friends. Since our last visit, the main restaurant has been extended and it is now a much bigger, but beautifully decorated dining area. It has quite a Mediterranean feel to it, with the fixtures and fittings and the tables are all nicely spaced out. We were offered a superb tomato and garlic pizza bread as a ‘starter’ and we all had pasta of some sort for our main courses. Everyone said their meal was delicious. Mine was Tagliatelle al Salmone and I also ordered a side salad. My meal was piping hot and superb. The dressing, which was in a small pot for those who preferred no dressing, was delicious. We passed on dessert, but coffees were great. A fabulous evening was had by all and we will be back in June!

Went here with family to celebrate sons 30th and was made very welcome when we arrived. Our party of 14 ranged from 1 year old to 83 and there was something on the menu for all of us. Starters were amazing and main courses enjoyed by all but too full to go for deserts but looked very appealing.Service was great and meal enjoyed by all so we will be back.Early bird Sunday looks good, we missed it this time but won't next time round.Chris L

Visited tonight ( Thurs 13th Feb ) for the first time with my husband for date night, the restaurant was bigger than we'd expected & was decorated in a rustic traditional Italian style, it was a little cold at first but we did warm up later. The young girls who were staff were friendly and efficient & there were quite a few tables occupied even though it was a Thursday. We decided to order from the Early Bird menu served from 5pm to 7pm during the week, there was plenty of choice for £12.95 each for starters & main courses. You are given olives & bread & butter first. Hubbie loved his chicken liver pate with salad & toast & my garlic mushrooms in a cream sauce were perfect as a starter. I also found my lasagne to be excellent, a generous portion & piping hot & delicious. My husband's calzone could have done with a bit more meat filling & to be cooked a bit longer he thought unfortunately. We were finally given Limoncello liquers to finish, I was well fed & happy. Altogether the meal cost less than £40 with 2 drinks & was thoroughly enjoyable, we will be returning in the future with our son, well done & thank you Casa Luli.

Mid week dinner for two turned out to be excellent. The ribeye steak was excellent if too large for my husband's appetite and he took home a doggy bag. The chicken in creamy sauce was also excellent - again a bit big for my appetite but I did finish it. Bottle of house Merlot was also good and great value. We'll certainly be going back - and back!! Lovely atmosphere and great staff.

Great meal here on Christmas Eve. Friendly staff, great atmosphere, gorgeous pizzas. Their Calzones are awesome! A must visit.

We brought my 7 year old son for his birthday with a few of his friends and had a lovely time. The food was excellent, apart from the wife's cannelloni we just had pizza but all were excellent, I really enjoyed my quattro stagioni. One of the boys managed to break a glass but the staff were really good about it. Great food at reasonable prices, lovely service, what's not to like. Highly recommended.

My friends and I went last night and the food was very nice which was a plus.The place is very clean and the staff were lovely.While the staff were really nice and friendly we didn't like how they hovered, it felt like we were being watched and rushed. We had no sooner eaten our starter and they were wanting to bring out our main, same after the main, we had to tell them to wait with our dessert. This is meant as constructive criticism that I hope will be taken on board.We would return though but if the same happened again I'm not sure we would go back if we were rushed again.

What a night. From the moment you stepped foot in the door you knew it was going to be good. Friendly, welcoming staff and a lovely ambience - the place was buzzing. It was a special event night, a 3 course menu with excellent choices, extremely good food and certainly value for money. The staff worked hard and efficiently, every table was booked and the icing on the cake wa Marcus Hallows who performed an amazing tribute to "The King" , Elvis Presley. How can I not have been here before? I highly recommend both Casa Luli and Marcus Hallows, I will definitely be returning. Thanks everyone for a pretty perfect night out.

We went here for my Husbands 30th. The food is amazing. The staff are great and where very helpful. They even mixed and matched the specials to please birthday boy lol would go again if we are in the area!!!

I ate here last Thursday with friends, we have visited it numerous times over the years but the new owners have made it feel far more welcoming and the food was absolutely delicious! Love the style of decoration very rustic! Will definitely be back soon!

I have visited Casa Luli several times now as we live locally. I have always been impressed on every visit and truly feel it is best Italian restaurant in the local area. I have eaten from both the early bird, main al a carte and specials board and have always been impressed with quality and taste of the food. The staff are delightful and on my most recent visit it was pleasing to see the restaurant area has been extended inside. The ambience is always good and provides a pleasant and authentic experience.

Having tried the usual local Italians on offer decided to try Casa Luli since it has had a change of management.... What a pleasant surprise, food was beautiful and although not the largest premises, the atmosphere was welcoming and friendly.... Will definitely be revisiting in the future...

60th birthday meal love this restaurant family are always so greatful for having you in it’s a pleasure to be there and the food is amazing. I never go with the normal menu I always have the specials board and I’ve never been disappointed. The food is great and too much sometimes !! If you go and they’ve got the trio of fish on the specials you have to try this it’s amazing will definitely come back as always

It is a busy little Italian, the food is well priced and there is something for everyone on the menu. Would definitely visit again! They do gluten free pasta which is very good and they have lots of other gluten free options. The portions are quite large. Also the service is very good!

Excellent meal, 3 course meal x 2 plus drinks £51.00. Visited at 5pm Friday evening, only three couples in total. Need to book for Saturdays. Very friendly staff. Will go back.

There were 10 of us dining on a Saturday night for a birthday celebration. Luckily we pre booked a table a couple of weeks before as the place got very busy! (Car parking is a bit of a squeeze!)

If you want the very best lasagne - this is the restaurant for you!. It's so good I find it hard to order anything else! Friends have tried their pizzas, calzone's and pasta dishes and also say they are brilliant. Service is great too. Wine is a bit expensive but nice. Possibly one of the best restaurants in West Yorkshire!!! Love it!

Having had the restaurant recommended several times I decided to book a table for me and my husband. I hadn’t been here for years and was impressed with the new layout and decor. I thought the staff were very friendly and attentive. Our food was really good and plenty of it. I definitely recommend this restaurant.

This was our second visit to Casa Luli after visiting on Valentines Day and being impressed by the food, we booked for the Neil Diamond Tribute Night. What a night! Fantastic entertainment, such a brilliant atmosphere, and the food was delicious again! We’ll definitely be back!

This restaurant has had many reincarnations over the years that I have been visiting, but the current owners and chefs are the very best for a long time.

My wife, 2 young children and myself headed here as a last minute meal out for my wife's birthday. The staff were brilliant and the food was lovely. My boy asked for a soup that wasn't on the menu and the waiter kindly obliged. The price, quality and quantity of The children's menu is definitely and winner. We ordered soup, spaghetti, pork escalope & pizza and they were equally enjoyable. We used to head to another Italian when venturing out but this will be our new go to place.

Went for a birthday meal with 9 others. The food had across the table was absolutely perfect. The 9ptions available on the early bird menu were vast making the whole experience fantastic. Will definitely be returning in the future

Visited mid week & a few tables were taken which is good. It was very chilly in there & the little foyer was warmer than anywhere else so i kept my coat on! Starters were great & hot. Mains not so... Calzone was served on a plate that felt like it was out of the fridge so it was only warm to eat. I put my knif into the calzone & steam would normally come out but not on this occasion.

If I do ever go to an Itatian restaurant and they actually serve nice meatballs I'll die a happy man. What is so difficult about making a bloody nice meatball. Why in restaurants do they all look as though they are made of sawdust and taste of nothing?

Visited Casa Luli a number of times since it opened last year and have never been disappointed. Dishes are really good and staff are extremely friendly. It’s our local authentic Italian restaurant and we’re extremely lucky to have such good food on our doorstep!

This is our second visit in two weeks .

Such a shame that the service was so bad as the food was delicious , after waiting 45 mins for our starter it finally came after us having to ask for it , then a main meal forgotten , had to go and get our own Parmesan as nobody offered us it then wen finished had to go get our own dessert menus , only ordered 4 desserts one of which didn’t arrive till we asked for it , maybe less tables would be a good idea as the staff were clearly struggling which resulted in terrible service

7 of us came here for a family meal between Christmas and New Year. What an absolute treat it was! The food was delicious and plentiful with friendly service too. My only critique was that perhaps the dining area was quite bright but we were the first ones in so perhaps things became more 'atmospheric' as the place filled up.

Luli & his fantastic family have made this restaurant absolutely perfect! Fab atmosphere, amazing fresh food & the specials board always has great choices. We bring our 2 year old & they make her so welcome, very child friendly. So happy to have a restaurant like this so close to home. I often frequent Italian restaurants in Leeds & this place beats most!

The restaurant has fairly recently undergone a full refurbishment following a change of ownership and is now family run.The food is great, can't fault the service, really helpful knowledgeable staff, very busy with a great vibe and atmosphere, the prices are very reasonable I would definitely recommend this restaurant for couples, families, groups and parties and will be going again soon

Birthday party for five adults & two children. Been before under (several) previous ownerships & names - much improved layout, décor and overall impression of an Italian restaurant. Pre-booked table, probably a good idea for 5:30 o a Sunday as it was full. Drinks whilst deciding from a menu with plenty of variety including the 'Early Bird' deal.

Not been here for two years. Food was lovely. Good service. Will definitely come again. Would recommend anyone to visit.

What a lovely place. The staff were so attentive. The food gorgeous and varied not just pizza. Fantastic will be back.

Magnifico Italian food at its best plus excellent service and surroundings. They have now opened next door which is specifically for families with children

We were a family of 12 and 3 of those were children. The staff at Casa Luli could not have been more friendly and helpful. Each and every one of us enjoyed our food. We went for the early bird menu at 5pm and it was pretty quite but when we were leaving it was very busy.

Much better than previous owners. Lovely set up and decor. Good wine selection and decent menu. I had scallops and my partner had king prawns, both very nice. I also had swordfish with an anchovies sauce....the sauce tasted the same as the other sauces on the prawns and scallops, with the addition of a couple of anchovies and capers. My partner had chicken again it came with the same tomato sauce. I had a side of courgette fries and they were lovely. The desert was a cheesecake which sadly wasn’t set properly. Overall I had a lovely meal with a couple of hiccups, wouldn’t put me off going back. Friendship staff too.

Having moved to liversedge we thought we would try out a new Italian in the area. We had passed it a few times and thought it !poked nice.

We absolutely love this restaurant & have been a few times since Luli took it over .

This place seemed lovely & nice atmosphere & Lovely people.if took ages for someone to take our order! And some our god was over cooked & taken back and reheated froma microwave ! Not pleasant won’t recommend ! & I paid half the cost for getting most of our order wrong !

Called in this evening, without a reservation, with my parents for their anniversary.

Called in on Friday, not realising that the restaurant had changed hands. Food was excellent, Service was superb. Welcoming true Italian family style restaurant. This place has certainly gone up several notches since my last visit. The new family owners have revamped the restaurant. Loved it so much we took the family for the night after. Wonderful experience, we will be back.
