Poppa Piccolinos in Kirklees

First time here, the food was piping hot and there was plenty of it, you must have the ribs for starters wow!!

Booked at short notice just prior to Christmas staff were very attentive and food extremely good quality with generous portions. Will no doubt be coming back.

Really love this place same every time fantastic staff are outstanding and food is out of this work I keep going here as the business is having a hard time due to temporary works and no parking people choose to to go places more convenient I would just like to add that I did have to park out the way due to parking circumstances but I would also like to say that the many grateful food places I walked bye this was worth the walk cracking little place and I hope people read this and take my advice to go the extra mile in support of a local business you won’t be let down guys

Our 2nd visit to Piccolino's. Saturday night is busy & has a really good family atmosphere. The kids had a Pepperoni Pizza & Spaghetti Bolognaise. We had the Calamari & Prawn Gamberoni starters. I'd chose the prawns again as a starter- the prawns were really fresh. For the mains we had a Parma & rocket pizza & a Malaysian chicken noodle dish. Both were really good. Portion sizes are large, food is fresh & the service is friendly. Also lots of gluten free options. We would recommend & return.

We had a great family meal at Poppa Piccolinos! The steak was cooked perfectly, and our kids loved the pizza and fish fingers. The warm, traditional atmosphere and friendly staff made us feel right at home. Highly recommend for a cozy family dining experience!

We visited for a family birthday in August with 15 people including 2 children. We were given a nice seating area with banners already put up for us when we arrived! The food was lovely and everyone enjoyed it. Lim even included a special dish which was not on the menu but was requested by family members who have visited before. The service was excellent and I highly recommend for a family occasion.

We all love Italian food, so finding a place that makes it feel like it's home made and really tasty then this is the place to find. This restaurant makes you feels like you have been invited around for dinner. Great service by Scott, the chef was excellent in recommending dishes, explaining his methods of cooking and serving samples to taste before we ordered our dinner. It was excellent, extremely tasty and fabulously presented. We ate in the early bird period so fantastic food came at a cost that everyone could afford. Lim thanks for the best Italian meal we have ever eaten.

Had the most amazing birthday meal with my husband, the food, service was top draw. The owner is such a delight, made time to come out and talk to us, and just a great experience overall

Very friendly booking experience when I called, food very average. The baseline of what you would expect at an lower end Italian Pizzeria. Service slow but very very friendly and polite, the pizza was satisfactory. We wanted to book into the new pizza restaurant in Holmfirth but it was booked out, it was very easy to get a table here. Says a lot really. That said it's reasonably priced and serves a purpose if you want a meal.

A very welcoming place with really friendly staff who were extremely attentive. Went as a group and everyone commented on how much they'd enjoyed their food. The chef is of Malaysian origin and this is reflected on the menu, where all the usual Italian favourites are joined by several interesting specialities from his home country. And if you want something changing, as I did, you only have to ask.

Thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Stopped in early on a Saturday whilst family were visiting, staff were friendly and attentive. Food was excellent, portion sizes were very good. Would recommend.

Lived in holmfirth a couple of years now but only got round to visiting last night. Wish we'd gone sooner because it was absolutely great. Really good attentive service without being pushy or intrusive. Great food and a lovely bottle of primitivo. Good value for money too.

Appalling service. Whole table of family made to feel like a burden for dining at the restaurant after pre booking. Staff were not attentive and we had to ask multiple times for a drink. Staff are untrained, lady on the bar is slow and struggles to pull pints. The children who are waitresses are obviously inexperienced and it felt awkward to ask them for anything. The older girl with glasses who I expect was 17-18 years old was the rudest waitress I’ve ever encountered, please put her on a customer service course. The older waitress women were lovely, especially the lady who makes desserts. Had to wait ages for food. And ages for drinks. And ages for the bill. Pizza was average. Pasta was burnt. Didn’t complain. Paid. Left. Dated decor. Unfortunately won’t be back. Shouldn’t be made to feel like a nuisance for being a polite paying customer. The restaurant has been there for years and is established in holmfirth but unfortunately the narrative of the poor experiences there are too rife now in the community. Needs a change up!

Beautiful food, generous portions, great service and again we wonder why we don't go there more often.

We loved our meal in Poppa Picolinos, we used to live in Holmfirth and ate here lots, we wish we lived close by now as the food is outstanding. The anchovy pizza was awesome, all ingredients higher quality than usual Italian restaurants. My husband had a Malaysian curry and that was fabulous too. House red wines great. Service was excellent and the chef came to chat to us and was such a lovely man. Just wonderful.

We booked a table so we could have a lovely meal before going to an event at picturedrome. Food was phenomenal, great portion sizes the pizzas were fully loaded and the meatball pasta had mass amounts of meatballs. Great value for money and delicious, we will definitely book again for the next event we go to

Great food. Inadequate service. Sons girlfriend not brought a drink in first round. Then food came but one person's missing. Final drink order took 20 mins then a reminder and we had finished food by the time we drank. One waitress needs to learn a few apologies & lessons in customer service

My first visit to piccolinos in about 20 years. Me and my party were seated upstairs. Table was a bit small for 4 but we were OK. Staff were attentive but not overly friendly except for the chef who came to say hi, and the gent taking orders. If the candles went out they were over relighting it, although not necessary. I had the bolognese which was perfectly satisfactory (my go to safe meal at an Italian) Prices were a bit steep but probably in line with Italians in the area. Would I go again? Yes. Would I have the same meal? Absolutely.

We didn't stay to eat... the chairs were rickety, the table and menu's were sticky, the cheese being spread on the pizza's looked like grated cheddar... the smell was a little musty....... it looked and felt very dated.... we left

Amazing italian restaurant! We've eaten here many times and are never disappointed by the quality of the food or the service. This time I had lasagne and tiramisu which were delicious, would recommend to anyone. Staff are happy to help and took good care of us. Thank you!

The food was tasteless and really bad service. Was challenged when I explained I didn’t like the lasagne which was very unprofessional. Wouldn’t recommend to anybody needs improvement.

Beautiful little restaurant/bistro serving a great selection of food from Italian to Eastern tastes. Staff very accomodating with an 'open style' kitchen so you can see & smell your food being prep'd. Would definitely recommend

Our first visit here and it was very good. The portions were ample and flavoursome. Can't fault anything.The chef came to greet some regular visitors and his chef white's were spotless and the cutlery was clean and shiny. This all made for a pleasant change from some other meals we have had out. Will definitely be visiting here again.

The food was lovely, but that is only good thing I can say, the service was appalling, we were up asking for drinks and things missing from our order more than we were sat down, when we first went up to the bar to order a drink we were told to go sit down and somebody would come take a drinks order 20 minutes passed and still nobody so had to go back to the bar. Ive seen it a lot busier before and had better service. The drinks are extortionate £7.25 for a pint of moretti. won’t be returning

Great food, service and atmosphere.

Attended with my family to celebrate my 60th birthday, Lim &Jane were fantastic hosts .The food was beautiful, we all had different starters mains and Desserts but they were all recommended because they were so tasty and served promptly to maintain the temperature. Everyone in the party enjoyed every aspect of the evening it was brilliant. I can't praise them enough it was such a good evening.

Food was good, especially the meatballs starter. The Stroganoff was a little disappointing both in quantity and in taste. However, what a great atmosphere this place has! The service and the team are excellent and a real credit to the restaurant. Definitely recommend a visit!

It’s probably 20 years since our last visit so we weren’t sure what to expect when we called in with some friends. I had warm chicken and vegetable salad as a starter from the specials menu - superb plate of crunchy salad in a stir fry style with a nice spicy kick. Other starters of pork ribs and calamari also got the thumbs up. My main course was tagliatelle frutti da mer - a filling bowl of tasty pasta with juicy prawns and mussels - I went for medium spice level which was just right for me. My wife had chicken in mushroom sauce - very tender chicken and a lovely sauce. Lasagne and penne pasta also went down well. All the portions were generous and no-one could fit in a dessert. Total bill for 4 including 2 bottles of wine and 2 bottles if beer was £163. Only downside was we felt a little pressured at the end to finish our drinks and leave as we were the last customers. Overall a very enjoyable evening.

We visit on a regular basis, it is a constant on quality, service and friendliness, with the added bonus of being dog friendly.

That Picasso pizza was one of the best veggy pizzas I've had. Big lovely chunky veg. The staff and manager wonderfully attentive

It's an ok place to eat, don't get me wrong. But certainly not run by Italians,so you could call it an Italian style restaurant. No Gnocchi on menu usually gives the game away. The food was ok,but lacked Italian atmosphere.

The bread was microwaved to warm up, this turned it tough to eat. We had to ask twice for water, it was not busy. We ordered a main course, given a choice of mild, medium or spicy, we ordered mild. The meal was very spicy and could not eat it. The staff noticed my wife didn't eat it but waited till later to ask. Too late to replace. Not impressed with the pizza's. Never go again. I would like to amend my review after my wife and I visited for the second time and discussed the review with Ben Lym. We cannot fault the service, very attentive, polite and helpful. We cannot amend what we stated in our initial review because what happened happened. We can however understand the situation that first night and that our second meal was very good. I respect a restaurant owner who takes constructive criticism and acts on it. Finally we would like to add that we will be back again.

I visited Poppa Piccolinos tonight with my family. The lovely restaurant is in a beautiful, central location in Holmfirth. It is easy to get to and there is a lot of parking nearby. The restaurant was busy and had a great atmosphere. The welcome we received from staff was warm and inviting and from the moment we sat down, waiting staff were very attentive. The food is absolutely beautiful. The flavours are amazing and you absolutely won’t leave hungry! The portions are fantastic. The owners are kind people who are also very attentive and make it feel extra special. It has lovely decor and the restaurant is very clean. Will absolutely visit again with friends and family as it’s a new favourite for just a family get together or a celebration. (Please note that on the photos the rice came in beautiful presentation but we had started eating before I remembered I just had to get photos of this beautiful food!!!)

We had 2 meals from the Malaysian section of the menu. Both dishes were exceptional. The service was lovely & friendly & we were well looked after by Ashley. Highly recommend.

So impressed this time... The service and staff were all fabulous and knowledgeable about the menu, nothing was too much trouble. Great choice on the menu, generous portions all served piping hot!! ( we brought half the pizzas home) Restaurant was clean, the tables were not jammed together, a sofa waiting area was a nice touch. Toilet was clean and well stocked. Well done everyone, we will definitely be back!

Visiting Yorkshire and had a lovely meal. Absolutely delicious food, would recommend everyone to visit here. The garlic bread was the best I have ever had. Everyone working here is so polite, kind, helpful, and fantastic.

First time visit and first impressions are usually the best to go on. Food was excellent, perfectly cooked and all six of us got our food at the same time. The only missing star was due to the time it took for our meals to arrive as they appeared a little short staffed in the Kitchen and as the restaurant was only half full it might have presented a problem had it been full, but despite this it was well worth the wait.

The veggie cannelloni was probably the best I’ve ever tasted, really fresh and homemade, and the other courses were great too. The bar service was a little random and the decor could do with an update, but this was a lovely spot for dinner and I’d definitely go again.

Had starters and mains, only needed mains. Great portion sizes, but most importantly damn good food. Loved it.

My partner and I visited one Saturday evening and we were glad we booked as the place was very busy! The staff were friendly and attentive. We ordered a tomato garlic bread, Kiev Calzone and a Bianca pizza. All three were delicious and both pizzas full of toppings! Would definitely go back if in the area again!

Booked a table and went for a meal Saturday... walking down stairs and seated right next to a large fridge which wasn't nice .straight away the tables looked like something out of a cheap cafe ..table cloths would have made it look so much nicer and more welcoming ... food was lovely but my mrs ordered noodles with prawns but got pasta with prawns which is not what she ordered... I got a garlic bread and a pizza ... kitchen staff make the serving staff cu t the pizza and garlic bread which is something I think shouldn't happen when hands aren't washed for every order .. Too many staff members walking around which must be costing the business unnecessary money ... Would like to try more of the food and give a more positive review but I'm not sure I would be going back

Weekend away with friends and we live Italian - this didn’t disappoint! We were glad we only shared a garlic bread between us as a starter as the portions of pasta were huge! Absolutely delicious - no room for dessert! Friendly staff and lovely atmosphere

Me and my partner came for a meal here. The staff are so welcoming and attentive. I had a chicken and mushroom tagliatelle and he had a mixed meat Calzone. The food was incredible and great value for money for how large the portions are. I had half of mine to take home and it was still just as delicious the next day. Would highly recommend!

Visited as menu indicates Gluten free options which include pasta and pizza options. The gf pizza was very good and was a good size ( couldn’t finish it ) but it comes at a price being £4 more than standard pizza. I know gf flour is more expensive and you have to careful for cross contamination, but £4 extra is a bit excessive as it doesn’t cost that much more. However, I enjoyed my food and my wife enjoyed her Cannelloni so I wouldn’t discount going again.

The food and service were amazing. Extremely tasty quality ingredients i have never tasted such an amazing sauce. I need to say portion size was very generous. The staff were very attentive and always at hand, even catering for our puppy who tucked onto meatballs and tomato sauce ...lush. Thank you. We will recommend the restaurant on our Facebook page.

Ordered 3 full size garlic breads between 5 of us for starters which destroyed me. The food was so good I couldn't help but decimate my main too. I am now a big happy sleepy man

Great food and service in a lovely setting. A group of 7 of us all had super nice meals with good size portions and friendly service, all for a reasonable price. I really enjoyed the seafood risotto and my friends calzone looked amazing.

Lovely varied Italian food in the centre of Holmfirth , the four of us had various meals here mine was a gorgeous tomato sauce with meatballs I would highly recommend ,two of the others had pizza which were also delicious and fresh and my friend had cod with various sea food sauce an veg she finished everything saying it was delicious , the menu also had a few Malaysian dishes as I think the owner is from there , good wine list which we did think was a bit more expensive than liked but still had some owners were great and would come visit again

Lovely restaurant in the heart of Holmfirth, we were welcomed and seated 25 minutes before our reservation time . Service was perfect, our starter ( shared garlic bread was very very salty) we were offered a replacement, we declined, main was tomahawk steak , served with all the trimmings, it was beautiful as were all accompanied dishes, wine was lovely, ambiance perfect, owner asked how was our meal , my daughter told him about garlic bread, we were not charged for this. We had a lovely meal and would highly recommend. We will definitely dine with you again. Thankyou for a very comfortable couple of hours, can’t wait to book with you again

This place has amazing food. We had lasagna ,tagliatelle with salmon,spinach and shrimps and pizza ,and let me tell you that is one of the best pizza I had in my life. Food amazing and nice staff!

This was a great find during a weekend away. Beautiful garlic chicken pasta in a mushroom sauce and garlic bread with cheese. Service was excellent and very polite even though we kept them behind late. Will definately visit again when in the area

Visited this evening, it was very busy upstairs, we were seated downstairs, very nice decor and surroundings. Staff were very accommodating and helpful, warm and friendly. There was four of us and we all ordered different, the food was delicious, good presentation and lovely flavours, Italian menu was great with a mix of Malaysian as well. Definitely want to come back here on our next visit to Holmfirth.

We have been to Poppa's a few times now, usually with our young children. They are always super accommodating (loud, noisy kids!l) and always really friendly. The menu is great and the location is right in the centre of Holmfirth near a car park. Highly...
