Poppa Piccolinos in Kirklees

Attended with my family to celebrate my 60th birthday, Lim &Jane were fantastic hosts .The food was beautiful, we all had different starters mains and Desserts but they were all recommended because they were so tasty and served promptly to maintain the temperature. Everyone in the party enjoyed every aspect of the evening it was brilliant. I can't praise them enough it was such a good evening.

It’s probably 20 years since our last visit so we weren’t sure what to expect when we called in with some friends. I had warm chicken and vegetable salad as a starter from the specials menu - superb plate of crunchy salad in a stir fry style with a nice spicy kick. Other starters of pork ribs and calamari also got the thumbs up. My main course was tagliatelle frutti da mer - a filling bowl of tasty pasta with juicy prawns and mussels - I went for medium spice level which was just right for me. My wife had chicken in mushroom sauce - very tender chicken and a lovely sauce. Lasagne and penne pasta also went down well. All the portions were generous and no-one could fit in a dessert. Total bill for 4 including 2 bottles of wine and 2 bottles if beer was £163. Only downside was we felt a little pressured at the end to finish our drinks and leave as we were the last customers. Overall a very enjoyable evening.

Really well cooked food. Very tasty starter. Friendly service. Great location. Nice bottle of wine. Just good all round. Mostly Italian, but also with some east asian food.

We had 2 meals from the Malaysian section of the menu. Both dishes were exceptional. The service was lovely & friendly & we were well looked after by Ashley. Highly recommend.

So impressed this time... The service and staff were all fabulous and knowledgeable about the menu, nothing was too much trouble. Great choice on the menu, generous portions all served piping hot!! ( we brought half the pizzas home) Restaurant was clean, the tables were not jammed together, a sofa waiting area was a nice touch. Toilet was clean and well stocked. Well done everyone, we will definitely be back!

Visiting Yorkshire and had a lovely meal. Absolutely delicious food, would recommend everyone to visit here. The garlic bread was the best I have ever had. Everyone working here is so polite, kind, helpful, and fantastic.

The veggie cannelloni was probably the best I’ve ever tasted, really fresh and homemade, and the other courses were great too. The bar service was a little random and the decor could do with an update, but this was a lovely spot for dinner and I’d definitely go again.

My partner and I visited one Saturday evening and we were glad we booked as the place was very busy! The staff were friendly and attentive. We ordered a tomato garlic bread, Kiev Calzone and a Bianca pizza. All three were delicious and both pizzas full of toppings! Would definitely go back if in the area again!

Visited as menu indicates Gluten free options which include pasta and pizza options. The gf pizza was very good and was a good size ( couldn’t finish it ) but it comes at a price being £4 more than standard pizza. I know gf flour is more expensive and you have to careful for cross contamination, but £4 extra is a bit excessive as it doesn’t cost that much more. However, I enjoyed my food and my wife enjoyed her Cannelloni so I wouldn’t discount going again.

Great food and service in a lovely setting. A group of 7 of us all had super nice meals with good size portions and friendly service, all for a reasonable price. I really enjoyed the seafood risotto and my friends calzone looked amazing.

Lovely varied Italian food in the centre of Holmfirth , the four of us had various meals here mine was a gorgeous tomato sauce with meatballs I would highly recommend ,two of the others had pizza which were also delicious and fresh and my friend had cod with various sea food sauce an veg she finished everything saying it was delicious , the menu also had a few Malaysian dishes as I think the owner is from there , good wine list which we did think was a bit more expensive than liked but still had some owners were great and would come visit again

This was a great find during a weekend away. Beautiful garlic chicken pasta in a mushroom sauce and garlic bread with cheese. Service was excellent and very polite even though we kept them behind late. Will definately visit again when in the area

Fabulous afternoon tea, which we did not know you did, we were told you had only been doing afternoon tea two weeks. The sign on the main road brought us in to Poppa Piccollnos and what a wonderful surprise. Friendly staff and great food, sitting on the veranda in the sun, what more could one wish for. We will be back.

We went to this restaurant very last minute and the food was nice, no real complaints; but not an amazing Italian for the price. The restaurant has lovely features and could be a great, authentic place, but it needs some updating, as do the toilets. The drinks were expensive and for two of us the bill came to £65, which seems a lot for two people (two pasta dishes, garlic bread, 3 Prosecco & two lager). The staff were lovely and couldn’t complain about the service, but the restaurant as a whole could benefit from some improvements. Overall good, but could eat out cheaper and probably somewhere nicer for the money.

What a lovely afternoon. My first visit and it was amazing ! Afternoon tea for two . My sister took me for a treat and it did not disappoint, fresh selection of four different sandwiches , homemade scones with clotted cream and jam (baked fresh by the owner that morning), cookies, lemon drizzle, chocolate cake, cheesecake and homegrown strawberries . The offer included a tea or coffee too . We sat outside the premises on the veranda in beautiful sunshine . The staff were very attentive whilst adhering to current guidelines with face covering and social distancing . I am booking again definitely. First class for value and service !

Went to this restaurant on friday night and was shocked and appalled how the restaurant allowed a table of 14!! With the area being in a local lockdown i was shocked that this was allowed to happen and see it as a complete disregard to the current climate- won't be returning!

In response to RossNeill1960 It was my table of 12 which included 3 grandchildren under 7 my sons and my parents celebrating a family birthday. We have been going to this restaurant for 15 years and yet again had a wonderful meal and great service from all the staff Get your facts right before you have a go at someone who is trying to make a living in these difficult times

Best place around for quality food and for valuing repeat customers. In these strange times Lim and Jayne have worked tirelessly to provide quality take away food, new ideas and have thankfully now reopened their doors for table service. My family and I cannot wait to have a small piece of normality back in our lives under the guise of brilliant food, great humour from staff and a jolly good night out. Thank you Piccolinos as always.

Found this place almost by accident looking across the canal. Was honestly some of the nicest food I've had in months . The seafood pasta was brilliant and the owner was very friendly and accommodating. Will definitely come back when I next visit Holmfirth.

As a family we have been dining here for a long time! Nothing is too much for Lim and the team and he ALWAYS makes us feel welcome, checking that the food is ok and asking our opinions on what if anything we would change. We had take away during the lockdown period and as soon as he re opened the restaurant we have dined. Social distancing is always observed, staff all wear face coverings, hand sanitiser available, a one way system is in place it all feels very safe! Today I have had the new afternoon tea and a Gin Spritz! The value for money and quality of food is perfect as always! Thank you Lim and the team ❤️

Great place to eat with lots of choice even on a limited menu. Even had great vegan options! The owners are so friendly and make an effort to get to know you. Great food and great service. We are glad they are back open.
