Staff a bit clueless about the menu, party had gluten allergies but took 3 people to find out what was available - surprisingly no gluten free pasta! Food when it eventually arrived and separated by over 5 mins between diners was fine (not the best but by no means bad). Disappointing trip won't go back too many great places in Manchester to bother.

Absolutely Amazing! Couldn’t have asked for a better evening. Visited on a busy Friday with the team and the service, food, atmosphere, everything was perfect. We were looked after by Hassan who made the evening even more special. A true asset to the restaurant. Congratulations to Adam and the team on the re-opening, we will definitely be back.

Vinni gave my Sikh son the best time of his life. He made him feel happy and accepted in this new community after coming from India. My son and his friends had a wonderful time celebrating his special occasion. We are very thankful for Vinni’s amazing kindness. Next year, we will celebrate Diwali and his happy birthday as well.

I went to try their new breakfast menu and the waitress , who was called Roxana helped me and my father order . As we are Muslims we couldn’t have some of their meat dishes but thankfully they were able to swap the meat for salmon and it was a scrumptious meal. The coffee blend was really nice and ultimately everything was quite nice and the staff had very good service .

Visited last year and was amazing, however it's been recently taken over and was no where near as good. Food wasn't value for money, was not presented nice and lacked flavour. The menu also wasn't very good. Such a shame that it has gone down hill.

We came on a Sunday, walking into an amazing buzzing atmosphere. We were greeted with a smile and promptly had water brought to us. We had the fried fish and mushroom bruschetta for starters, which were lovely. Our waitress emanuella gave an excellent wine pairing suggestion with our mains, and was explaining every dish in detail. Although there could be some improvement with the quality of food, we will give it another shot mainly due to the warm and attentive service we received as we understand they have recently changed kitchen team and are still learning.

Tried the pasta, pizza and steak. All three are delicious and well cooked. A nice place to go if you’re looking to take someone on a date. They usually have a DJ playing, and their atmosphere is excellent.

Service brilliant, atmosphere very lovely, classy and romantic place but food was a huge dissapointment.Bruchetta for starter was good but for £8 you would expect at least two pieces not one, the main seafood risotto was a disaster, the worst one I have had in my life so far, the portion was very small, oversalted very badly and I could barely find any seafood in it!!I am glad I have order extra truffle chips to kill the saltines, for £18 you would expect something more and better. I am pretty sure I wont be back there which is a shame because the place itself looks great!

Would not recommend! Booked a table but had to wait in the bar Ordered water, mocktails and lamb shank - The lamb shank came first and then the mocktails and then the water. We asked for tap water but were charged for a full bottle. The lamb shank was awful in taste and the aesthetics are lovely but the food really lets it down. The only good thing on the food was that it was halal! Staff were friendly but honestly not worth the service charge on top!

The food was tasty, we got pizza and & it arrived quick , service was fine and inside was nice. So I would recommend for that, although I do feel it’s overpriced for what you get. The 12.5 % service charge is crazy. I also asked for a small desert to come out as a surprise birthday which cost £15. I didn’t complain at the time because I didn’t want to ruin the mood, but a desert should not cost that its silly. The service charge and the overpriced desert has put me off going again in the future, the bill was too high for what we actually got. It isn’t good value for money

We were looking forward to our evening meal for my daughter's 21st Birthday. Where do I start. We were disappointed and let down with our meals. Appalling. Why? We didn't enjoy it. My husband's meal lamb shank tasted like it came out of a packet as it was tough as it was not soft and fell off the bone. My meal chicken in mushroom sauce with mashed potatoes. Bland chicken. Mashed potatoes was a slopped as too much cream in it. It was horrible. My youngest daughter didn't like her cheese and tomato pizza. Never mind the puddings as we didn't bother with it. We come from Blackpool to visit but you need to get food sorted as this was expensive for us to pay for a night out for 5 people. Disappointed.

Unfortunately, a terrible experience today. Pre booked with £20 per person for 12. Arrived on time. Order taken within 15 minutes. We were still waiting for starters at 1.30 even after a series of requests. Starters arrived with carpaccios taking the longest. At 1.50, we asked for mains again. 4 out of 8 dishes were inedible. Left without being properly fed as we were going to the theatre. Two of our table were children under 10. Just not acceptable. Waiter was attentive and very apologetic. A real shame.

Have been here a few times and had excellent meal . Today was a very different experience . Arrived 12 noon as booked . Took 1 and 3/4 hours before we received our main meals some of which needed to be sent back . Chicken dried out , cold food , clams undercooked . Food returned reheated in the microwave ! Asked to speak to manager to explain issues who did little to rectify initially, she went to speak to kitchen but never returned with a solution . Waiter was very helpful , but the issues were with the kitchen and management . After further complaining , offered to give us a voucher for £160 deposit to use again - and for us to pay the drinks bill . Explained not prepared to pay anything after the extremely poor food . Would we go back - absolutely NOT !

I had a lovely night at Don Giovanni! Especially the calamari and the deep-fried aubergine. The host, or service, Andreea, was lovely, very kind, and understanding of our needs and requests! I mean, she even tolerated me having pineapple pizza! She was friendly and made us feel at ease and welcome, allowing us to just be ourselves. Best service ever, 10 out of 10.

This beautiful place like Milton Keynes daffodils is best in town. Enjoyed its English food and mesmerising view of road side and city walk. The location is like cherry on the cake with sweet smile on the face of serving staff. Enjoyed it's food and made my memories on return.

Having driven up from Staffordshire, we were looking forward to a lovely meal before an evening at the theatre. How greatly disappointed were we! The service was terrible! Firstly, we waited forty five minutes for our mains. Then one meal arrived, only to be promptly whisked away again- as it was delivered to the wrong table. When I asked when our food was actually going to arrive, as we had 20 mins before we needed to leave for the theatre, the waiter went to find out and came back with a “wait another 4 minutes” message. When finally, the food did arrive, the meals were put in front of the wrong people, with no attempt to correct this. The food was mediocre and cold. We got a half hearted apology with a promise the manager was going to come and speak to us. This never happened. The final insult was a hefty service charge added automatically to the bill which we refused to pay. I would not recommend this restaurant when there’s so many nicer alternatives in the city for the same price.

A bit mixed. Some of our food was great (starters) but mains were a bit meh. Pollo Milanese dry and over cooked. Some confusion with one of our orders - didn't get what we thought was ordered. Took ages for drinks to arrive. This was at 4.30 on a Saturday, restaurant wasn't super busy and there was plenty of staff working.

Our server Pietro was so sweet, all smiles and always around, gave us lots of cheese on our main (always appreciated haha) The food was amazing. The soup of the day (minestrone) was fresh, full of perfect vegetables and the side of bread just made it better. The chicken in our main was to die for, perfectly juicy and soft and the sauce was delicious to go with it. And the creme brulee was so sweet and flavourful and such a fun eating experience. The restaurant itself was perfectly clean, amazing music and atmosphere. Would eat here again and again!

I have never written a review before, but I had to for this one. Worst restaurant in Manchester. The pasta was below average, but the worst part was that we found hair in it, and the customer service was abysmal, to say the least! When we complained to the waiter, he laughed it off, and the other waitress came over to apologize, saying they are always like this! Never going back to this place again.

2 times iv eaten in this restaurant now, both times food was below the standard of that from a city center Italian, first time i had fillet steak and lobster the steak was not cooked correct to medium rare and had to go back but they resolved that with a new steak cooked correct. Second experience i ordered veal cutlet and it came like a thin peice of battered steak in bread crumbs, very very dry with no flavour from the veal and overloaded in breadcrumbs. So i would say it was below average even for a Italian let alone in the heart of the city center. On the upside the atmosphere was bang on as they have a in house dj so not all doom and gloom.

Whilst I can’t comment on the food for this particular experience albeit I have been a guest of a number of business lunches at this restaurant, what I will say is that when myself and my son were wanting an early meal before a theatre show and with half the restaurant empty, we were declined a table, siting that they were fully booked. I queried as I could book online and this was Sunday 4pm but the lady in charge wouldn’t even speak to me. I can only assume their refusal was due our religion/nationality! We went over the road to San Carlos Fumo and had a wonderful meal. Business lunches will be over there from now on. Avoid here if you are not a white businessman in a suit.

Returning to a restaurant i have visited and enjoyed over many years i was was extremely disappointed over a number of issues. The main one being the level of service which was well below that expected. Plus the food was generally very average for the price. The final disappointment was the £22 service charge which was added to an already hefty bill for 4. I certainly will not be rushing back.

We entered just after the Manchester Half marathon, just as we were going in, a family left having been denied a table to dine. They thought it was because they were dressed casually and were seemingly upset. We knew This wasn’t a good sign for us - although we were well presented and dressed nicely, we were wearing out medals. We entered, greeted the front of house and before we said anything she asked if we had a reservation. I responded “no but would love to make one”. We were told they were not accepting “walk-ins”. This made us feel pretty scummy to be honest. I asked to speak with the manager. There was a bit of a faff and wait, once approached he said the same, and then checked the computer and told us they had 7 reservations. OKAY but I could count well over 19 EMPTY tables, It was 4PM - hardly peak dinner times. I contested and then said I would see if I could reserve a table online to prove a point (which I could). I confirmed this to them, and we certainly and MOST definitely were not going to be eating there. Very very rude staff. Imagine having empty tables and denying people entry?! WILD. SAVE yourself the stress and cross over to San Carlo where staff are WELCOMING, conversational, professional and a joy to be around.

We did the youngest daughters 21st in here, we paid extra for Balloons and Cake, yet when we got there, nothing was in place, they'd got their wires crossed with shift change and took everything away. This is one of my favourite places to eat, great service great atmosphere. As a treat, I had a lobster thermidor for the first time, and I was very disappointed, It was dry and tasteless. My husband had the same, and he was a trained chef when I told him what I thought, he totally agreed. The lobster is supposed to be succulent, my husband did feed this back to the staff. So if you are going to eat here, stay with their speciality, which is Italian food. This has not put me off going here again as I do love it, I just would not eat anything other than their Italian food, which they are renowned for.

We were a big party which probably didn't help but the food was still not great for the prices paid. We were asked to pre order starters, again not a problem but then were still delayed and nothing special. Mains were no better. My dish lacked any flavor and needed extra seasoning. The staff did try their best but didn't really communicate with each other or know who was doing what. I'm not sure I would go back.

AVOID. Was in the city visiting for work, so came in alone asking for a table for one. Restaurant was half empty but the manager refused to seat me, first claiming only big parties due to shortage of staff (how does that make sense?) When I pointed out there were table of 2 she claimed it was a reservation only and they weren’t taking anymore people. This was a lie cause after I left, I rang to ask about a reservation for the same night she said it was available.

What an awful experience we had last night!!! I have been to Don Giovanni a number of times over the years and always had good food and good service. Last night was the exception! We had a delay of over an hour for our main courses, no second drink offered, (we had to go and get someone after 40 minutes of waiting), the food came out warm for two people- one eating chicken and one eating shellfish. We asked to see a manager, to be greeted by a young woman who said that she would “microwave our food”. Concerned about shellfish in particular being microwaved, let alone the food cost we were paying for for nuked food. We requested new. The manager (female) walked away mid conversation. She left our food on the table. She was gone for nearly 5 minutes, when she brought back another manager. He repeated about microwaving the food. When he was told that wouldn’t be acceptable, his response was, “why do you have an allergy?”. No I don’t, but if I wanted microwaved food I’d buy some, I wouldn’t go for a restaurant for it. There was very little offered as a resolution, we had to ask for fresh. When a fresh food came, 3 minutes later, it was clearly the same food. The chicken dish was even colder than it had been previously. The salmon dish had just had the king prawns (bar one) removed. A mouthful of each was eaten to discover all of the above and then left. The chicken meal has resulted in suspected food poisoning, as very quickly the party member became quite poorly with sickness.

I cannot fault this establishment. The food was spectacular, I would specifically recommend the prawn tagliatelle. The pizza as well was delicious, whereas the lasagna wasn’t the best I’ve had. We had a similar experience to many other people that have left reviews here - we enjoyed our garlic bread starter and the food was mostly delicious however we had a wait of about 30 minutes+ between starters and main courses. It appeared to have been a communication mishap between FOH and the kitchen. There were other minor mistakes such as I ordered Diet Coke and was given regular, I ordered chicken as an extra in the carbonara but it didn’t have any. These all appear to be attention to detail mistakes. The staff were polite but could have kept us better updated regarding our food. I would not rush to go back as there are lots of other Italian options in Manchester.

We went here for dinner for my mother-in-law’s birthday as she likes Italian food but it was hard to find a halal Italian restaurant, so was really pleased to find this place. On entry the service was lovely, they took our costs and sat us down quickly, we did reserve our table the day before. We ordered our starters which were the prawns, garlic bread and mozzarella sticks. These came out quickly and tasted good. There was a lengthy wait for our main courses, about 30-40mins which I thought was too long given we ordered our mains and starters at the same time. The chateaubriand was lovely, the lobster Thermidor was not worth the money as it was not as succulent and sweet as lobster is supposed to be and the pastas were very good. Overall this is a lovely halal Italian restaurant and it’s nice to have the variety they offer. If they could just tighten up the service between starters and mains and have a better quality lobster Thermidor then it would be perfect.

We arrived early and had plenty of time before the show. We ordered our food, I ordered risotto and was told it would be 20 minutes, fair enough, we had lots of time. It took 30-minute for the starters to arrive my scallops were a bit too caramelised but were tasty enough. We then waited over an hour for our mains which we then had to eat in a rush. The staff don't seem to be aware or they don't seem to inform the customer about delays We weren't the only ones who were rushed for food and from what i see of reviews this seems to be an ongoing issue. Does it happen on a specific night when there is understaffing. Is the issue in the kitchen? Waiting staff would do well to keep customers updated if there is an issue with food. There's nothing worse than staff dodging the customer, pretending that they don't realise a table has been waiting a ridiculous length of time . They seem to be quite unbothered by the slow operation. Seriously if you haven't noticed the customers waiting for food then you're in the wrong job. They also have the cheek to put a 12.5% service charge.

On arrival, we were told that we'd need to wait up to 25 minutes for a table. We did not mind that at all and settled into their bar area with some drinks. We sat down, ordered our food, we'd ordered mains only and some more drinks. Time passed, and passed to the point we'd waited 1 hour and still hadn't had our food. Staff were walking past and didn't say anything. We'd waited a further 20 minutes and then asked a waitress nearby how long we should wait. She said she would find out for us. 15 minutes later, she mentioned our food would be here soon. My friend asked if we were forgotten about to which the waitress replied and said no, there were just orders before ours. We understand they were busy but to wait 1hr 30 minutes for our food, which means the restaurant either did forget about us or they can't manage the table numbers they have. While we were there, 3 tables walked out, and others complained that they had their starters but were still waiting for their mains. I think when they sit you down, they should be honest and mention it'll be an over an hour wait for food, in which case we would not have stayed! When the food did arrive, my Carbonara was bathed in oil (more than usual), and my friends pizza was burnt. They did take money off our final bill, but because we asked them, too. The fact that they add a 12% charge is crazy for this standard of service.

I liked the aesthetic and the service was personable but the food, although reasonably priced, wasn't anything special. Homemade meatballs were dry and tasteless in the pasta dish. We joked that we obviously had the Monday chef that just warms up what was left over from the weekend.

Personally I had a pretty good evening at Don Giovanni! Upscale restaurant close to many theatres, white linen Tablecloth and impeccable service! You know I’m pretty fussy eating Italian food abroad, honestly I had a pretty good meal! Five out of 5 for the tiramisu!

The food took 45 minutes to come, and even then it wasn’t brought out together. 1 person had to miss their meal, and another was given the wrong dish. The burratta starter had gone off. Only one of the four ladies’ toilets was working.

Maybe I didn't try hard enough to give this restaurant a review, or maybe I tried too hard. Aia style spinach cutlet, only taller and much saltier which, as soon as it cooled a little, became leathery, with a tangle of spaghetti with tomato thrown on top that looked like the pasta that your mother leaves for you to heat in the pot when you arrive for lunch with two hours late. All surrounded by a service that is very valid in some respects and ridiculous in others. It's a shame, because the location is truly magnificent. Ah... The coffee, though, one of the best in Manchester

AVOID. Sadly we waited about 90 mins for our mains to be served from our starters being cleared, we were about to leave when the waiter insisted the food was to arrive. Actually had our coats on to go! We had a show to see in about 5 mins from this point. It did arrive and was average at best but utterly ruined by the lateness and stress of rushing. Quite embarrassed as the organiser myself since it was for a relatives birthday. Zero accommodation was made, no comp drinks or any discount to acknowledge a bitterly poor performance. Won't go back because of that, I can handle mistakes but disrespect is another matter. Good hospitality means accepting your failing and making it right - sadly they did neither. The waiter did his best with the poor management.

We popped in after a spa day, 18th birthday present from my daughter's Auntie. We all had a lovely meal. Unfortunately they didn't have rose prosecco, which is what we all ordered and my sister's and nieces meal had too many pink pepper corns, but apart from that it was enjoyable.

Beautiful food, staff were so nice, we were watching a show and asked for the theatre menu which is a set price for a two course or three course, well worth it. The toilets were dirty with two cubicles closed but we did mention it and it was cleaned straight away.

A friend booked for a group of us to have pre-theatre dinner. Since we were a large group with a time deadline we were asked to provide a full pre-order including drinks and each paid a £20 deposit. We were also only able to order from a restricted pasta and pizza menu. We arrived in plenty of time and perhaps foolishly assumed the preorder meant our food was being prepared. Service was fairly chaotic with wrong drinks handed out, but I was willing to write this off to the fact it was a big group. However 1 hour 20 minutes after arriving we still hadn't recieved our main courses and had to give a 5 minute ultimatum. Our food did arrive and unfortunately was mediocre at best. While everything was cooked noone enjoyed it. My chicken arrabiatta lacked flavour and definitely wasn't spicy. We were unfortunately so hungry at this point we did eat the food. While we were there other parties told us of 2 hour delays in food and we saw a large party walk out. Pre-theatre dining seems to be a staple here and we foolishly thought the advanced order etc would enable them to efficiently deliver our order. When we complained they resolutely refused to accept any failings or problems with our evening, and when we suggested we would underpay by £30 (on a spend of over £500) were threatening. They already had credit card details from pre-booking which they indicated they would use leaving us no recourse for this appalling service. We made the show with 60 seconds to go and our organiser was left in tears. We won't let it ruin our evening but absolutely couldn't reccomend this experience to anyone. Avoid at all costs.

My recent visit here was a total let down. The service was awful from the get-go. We sat down at 7pm and had to wait a painful 20 minutes just for a drinks order. When we mentioned we needed to order food at that point as we had to leave by 8.30, the server rolled his eyes and acted like it was a hassle. A couple of the party order the Bruschetta, when it finally arrived, it was a joke - one sad little piece of toast for £9 ! I specifically asked for a dairy free starter, but it came covered in cheese with sauce as well. Then there was the main course, I ordered mushroom risotto with chicken added. Guess what? No chicken in sight when it arrived. They offered to fix it, but by then, we'd already been waiting for over and hour and 20 minutes. We had to leave in 10 minutes, so I just had to settle for it as it was. To top it all off, when it came time to pay, they had the nerve to accuse me of lying about asking for chicken in the risotto, fantastic customer service! The servers were rude and acted like they couldn't care less about us. Honestly, save yourself the trouble and steering clear of this place. They clearly don't give a damn about their customers.

My lovely wife and myself went before a show at the Opera house. The food and service was ok. But we were surprised to see how they served the Chateaubriand at the table next to ours. The waitress brought it over with another table ,carved it up ever so professionally. But then put a blue vinyl glove on and served it onto the plates using her hands instead of serving forks and spoon. I was looking for the hidden camera at that point . I've never had anyone finger my food before I eat it. If this is the Italian and right way of serving I do apologise but I personally wouldn't eat it .Can someone please educate me if this is the right way.

I booked this restaurant a couple of weeks ago for my boyfriend’s birthday meal, which was specified in the booking. I booked a couple hours before the time we were going for (21:30), the staff should regularly check for new bookings. We arrived and said our name and booking to which a man at the desk responded “We are closed.” very rudely, when there was clearly a large table of customers and other tables still seated in the restaurant. We then got accused of our booking being wrong, which after they checked they then realised we were right. The chefs had already left so they offered for us to have pizza, which we turned down as we specifically went for pasta. Another reason we turned this offer down is because we received no apology from any of the staff and they all seemed annoyed we were there, which is very unwelcoming and impolite. I have read through the reviews and a lot of people seem to agree on the fact that the service is terrible. Do not recommend, especially for any sort of special occasion.
