Would have been an okay stay at the abode were it not for our experience at the restaurant for breakfast - some of our party never received their food, or when we did it was stone cold, all within the space of an hour.

Really disappointing visit. We were told on entry they were short staffed, but an hour's wait for our food seemed too long. We weren't told half the menu wasn't on. Even burgers! The food we had was fine but the wait and disappointment over lack of choice rather spoilt the whole experience.

Suggested to my colleagues for a working lunch. Location and setting is great. Initial coffe was nice Service not the best, got given a menu then no order was taken. These things happen but had ran out of half of the drinks on the menu. We ended up going elsewhere for food

I went for dinner on a weekday, with colleagues. There were 2 other tables and it was just before 8 pm. Our waitress was friendly and professional, the restaurant itself was nicely quiet (no blasting music), and the decor looked good. We ordered mains, sides, glasses of wine and dessert. Despite the restaurant being quite empty, we waited nearly an hour for the food. When it arrived, some dishes were cold, and some others were really hot. I would say that I'm not a big eater, but the portion for everyone was quite small. My colleagues ordered the beef and the chicken main dishes. I regretted not ordering sides with my pork belly. The meat was cooked well and I appreciated the taste. However, I was less enthusiastic about the potato dauphinoise that came with the pork (again, a small portion, dry and hard on the outside as if reheated/stale) and the tenderstem broccoli (small portion, completely cold and over cooked).

Extremely poor service. We ordered breads and oils for starters, pork belly, and a falafel wrap for our mains. Waited over an hour for our food, I went up to the bar to ask if our breads were on their way and was told they were. Food came out and I was set down a burger when I’m a vegetarian and had ordered a wrap. Sat for 20 minutes whilst my friend ate his and finished before my wrap came out. I was ravenous by this stage! Brought the starter out at the same time (buttered toasted sourdough not a selection of breads with oils) and explained there were two new chefs on who got mixed up. We sent them back. Baffled that two new chefs would be on together on the same evening having no idea of the menu. Server was apologetic and took the service charge off the bill however will never return.

Was there for dinner and wasn't sure what is good and ask for recommendation. Elizabeth was helpful and started to find out what we like. Before she can finish, the manager called her and interrupted the conversation. We saw the manager was not pleased. Another waitress came to take order and she wasn't sure of the menu when we clarify questions. Anyway we ordered the main course and they are small plates, so we should have ordered more course which we don't know and wish there were recommendations given. The food tasted pretty good. When we called for the bills it took a while when there are not many guests. Overall, the service was not great. We had to go for second round of dinner elsewhere.

Visited with work colleagues. Restaurant was empty but server still appeared stressed at possibility of having 4 guests telling us that he had a table of 10 arriving so seats were limited!! Helpful regarding drinks. I had the burger which was tasty although I do like my meat more cooked. My colleagues had the pork which looked good but small portion. Intended to order dessert but server avoided us so we gave up. As we were staying over I had breakfast. Complete contrast in service. Excellent delivery. Cooked breakfast was OK but I was not keen on the sausage. Scrambled egg was delicious.

The food was actually very nice, but the service was poor. They basically ignored the customers even though the restaurant was almost empty. I overheard the response of a staff member to a customer who rang requesting to speak to the manager: 'Did you realise that we are part of a chain?'...then he promptly and rudely hung up. Shocking.

The worst experience. I live in manchester and my parents came to visit me for a nice catch up day, we don’t get to see eachother often so this was a special occasion. Upon arrival we waited at the entrance as you would any restaurant to be seated, the host seen us and did not acknowledge us (totally understand he may have been busy so ignored it). My mum then asked if they had a table for the four of us, the host remained behind his desk and had the audacity to say ‘i can’t hear you’. Again, we ignored this as it came across as rude but maybe he didn’t mean it. We then walked up to the desk and asked again, to which he responded yeah over there and pointed at a table then continued to go back to his phone - we were in shock. I personally would have left there and then, but my parents had been wanting to try this place and we didn’t want to ruin the day so we sat down and were served by the nicest waiter (dark skin, tall but didn’t manage to get his name - he needs to be given a pay rise and put on front desk because he knows how to greet customers and was the only good thing about this experience). We then asked for the manager to explain the behaviour of his staff as I would hate for anyone else to experience this, he didn’t know what to say and just apologised and said he would have a word at the end of his shift. I understand there’s not much he could have done and this was in no way his fault, but he did nothing to try and improve our experience here. After a few minutes, I decided to politely ask the host to apologise to my mum, to which he responded for what? It went back and forth a little bit (it was just us two in private as I’m not someone to ever complain or make a scene), but my mum was just clearly upset about the whole experience and it was the least he could have done. He then carried on trying to argue with me, I wasn’t responding back to this as I wasn’t going to waste my time talking to this man that had been so unnecessarily rude. He never apologised the whole time we were there. Later on, I noticed him greeting some other customers upon entrance, all smiles hand gestures and everything, taking them to their seats etc. I don’t know whether he had a sudden mood change or what happened. We were all well dressed, makeup on etc, so this wouldn’t have been the issue (not that anyone should ever be judged by this anyway). My mum is Chinese, not sure if it was to do with her ethnicity but either way it was unacceptable the way in which he spoke to us. People like him should not be working in customer service, never mind a nice place like this. I personally have worked in luxury customer service, both retail and hospitality so know what is required. I understand people have bad days, but this was significantly more than that, enough to put us off returning.

It’s like a bad comedy sketch where management in black suits running like the a headless chicken, waiting staff is under trained or absolutely useless… You been led to the dirty table with used crockery and cutlery on it which still not clean after 30 min at the table… Coffee machine apparently on the cleaning circle by one member of the team, or broken according to other… I will not mention that English breakfast is missing form the menu all together… Food itself semi decent the only problem is been delivered after 15 min chef calling service and at the best comes luke warm…. The worst

Breakfast is a joke. Which supposed to be sourdough bread is actually toasted slice bread. The croissants are supermarket long-live ones, cold and outdated. The coffee is mediocre like the all inclusive restaurants. The eggs Benedict with no flavour at all. I hope the management will do something about it. Good luck

Lovely restaurant, situated within Hotel Abode, which is very close to Manchester Piccadilly train station. The food was delicious, we had moules, frites and croque monsieur, both of which were beautifully presented. It was quiet at noon on Monday, but service and standards were high. Recommended for a drink, light lunch or, which we did not have, but was being served, afternoon tea which also looked inviting.

Good ideas but poor execution. Stayed at the hotel so experience was if breakfast. Chairs still had crumbs of food on, I suspect as this was breakfast they are not cleaned between the night before. Serving staff seemed capable and eager but inexperienced/poorly trained. They had to apologise that things didn't fit on the table. Cooked breakfast was overpowered by taste of pepper in the sausage. Seats had very low arm rests which made them more suitable for lounging in with a cocktail then sitting at a table eating. Nothing was terrible but just lacked an attention to detail. If your staying over for business the breakfast might be worth it for convenience. If your staying for pleasure then don't pay for it and goto the Ivy.

We came for a special family dinner and were left a little deflated. Initially our table reservation wasn’t there, to then be told we were due at 5pm instead of the 7pm (which had been confirmed via email). This got sorted and shown to our table. Starters were superb, but sadly the mains were not on par. We ordered 3 rump steaks, and 2 out of 3 were incredibly salty, to the extent that one of them was uncomfortable to eat. We notified the waiter of this and he offered us complimentary coffees which none of us wanted as we were having dessert. However Dennis (maitre d’) came up trumps by offering his apologies and securing complimentary cocktails at the bar. Dennis made the whole experience better by going the extra mile for his customers. Overall we had a great evening, but left a little disappointed with the food, especially as the name associated with the hotel is so high.

When I asked for the bill the waiter explained he had deducted the price for a beer and cup of tea which seemed fair. I would go again but if I was desperate for a drink would order at the bar. 🙂

This is my second visit to brasserie abode. They were very busy and service was a little slow to begin. We spoke to one of the staff, Josh, and he worked hard from that point on to ensure that we were served and had drinks when we asked. It did seem at times that there were not enough staff for the day. When other staff served us we would asked for desert menu etc and would be left waiting. We would then flag over Josh who would deal with the issue. A good day mostly due to Josh picking up when we had been left waiting by other staff. Excellent food and a good day overall.

Relaxed dining. Group of 4 on a Monday. Service was friendly and efficient until we wanted the bill, but overall fine. Large wine list and acceptable beer selection. Food was mainly pub classics done modern. Burger was very tasty and beef of good quality. Worth the higher price than many other places. Other meals were also described as tasty and enjoyable. Overall enjoyable and left a positive impression of the hotel.

We booked a table in advance for 6 people through the website. When we arrived we were greeted and seated with a smile. Live music was playing which was outstanding. I didn't have high expectations for a £30 menu (2 courses and a bottle of wine) but, honestly, it was great. French onion soup was delicious and both mains (moules frites and confit duck) were excellent. The duck didn't come with any carbs but it was a big portion. The moules frites could have had a bit more depth to the sauce but I can't complain at the price. Good service from and the atmosphere was ok. Would go back.

We had a £20 voucher to dine here, so decided to give it a try! The entrance was a little confusing because it looked like a bar rather than a restaurant. But soon later we were directed to downstairs which is the restaurant area. Surprisingly good service and excellent food. The staff were professional and polite. We tried 2 course meal which is served until 7pm. Food was amazing. Will definitely go back again. Shame I forgot to take pictures of the food (i was too busy enjoying the meal :D).
