Dominique's in Camden

I went to this cafe for the first time today, I was trying to get a coffee with a friend. As we sat down my son in his pram got upset so whilst I was trying to calm and settle him the owner came to us and said you are upsetting my customers with your crying baby. Am I not a customer too? I was so shocked to be greeted with such service which is why I am telling you to avoid this place especially if you have children not friendly at all. I left the shop immediately. Majority of customers were pensioners so if that describes you then it will be perfect:)

We wer made very welcome by the staff and had a lovely breakfast The service was first class and it was a very relaxing start to our Sunday morning

While we were at this cafe there was an argument between the staff and a pregnant couple who were visiting the cafe. It was pretty awful, the staff were quite literally shouting at her, it was a big scene in front of everyone. I don't know what caused the argument, but nevertheless whoever was in the wrong (which I can quite easily believe was the restaurant) the way the staff handled it was terrible, and ended with the pregnant lady in tears leaving the cafe. For the rest of our meal the staff kept saying "we're sorry about that, she was pregnant..." I wouldn't expect anyone to speak to anyone like this, let alone a cafe who was serving customers! Our order was also forgotten once so we ordered twice, and was very very delayed, but this was overshadowed by the argument. Out of all the lovely cafes in Hampstead, I definitely won't be visiting this one again.

One of Hampstead's best cafe's with wonderful staff who make everyone feel very welcome. Spag bol my favourite!

Dominique's is one of the best independent cafes in north London. Handy for the Royal Free or after a walk on the heath. Very friendly and helpful owners. Great breakfasts, lovely lunches (try the Persian lamb stew), delicious cakes, pastries and ice cream and good strong coffee. Prices are very reasonable for the area. It is not as smart looking as some of the nearby "posher" cafes and restaurants but that is part of its charm. The quality of the food and friendliness more than makes up for that. A South End Green gem.

I’m so glad I found this place. The staff are always so lovely and attentive that I almost feel I am visiting family. The meals are always well cooked and they adapt the meals if gluten free is required - but the main thing… this place certainly knows how to make a salad. Dominique’s special is a favourite

We popped in for drinks and ice creams at the end of a hot, sunny Saturday. Although they were busy they were so friendly and helpful, and the ice cream was delicious

My daughter was late meeting me and I was just looking for somewhere to sit and have a coffee. What a little gem I found! Welcoming, superb coffee. Next time I’ll come for brunch or lunch.

I was looking for a light lunch and this place didn't have a queue so I thought I would give it a go and had a mozzarella cheese and tomato toasted sandwich with pesto. It was excellent with plenty of tasty filling and very good value for £4.50

Best sausages sandwiches in Hampstead heath and very well priced. Definitely recommend if you are in the area.

We've been coming here on and off for years.. their food is all good but the veg English breakfast is really good.. we have tried veg breakfasts at many other places but this really is the best. Every component is well-cooked.. and I especially love the mushrooms. Try it! Lovely staff too.

I often go here for a pot of tea but today stopped by for a simple lunch with my daughter. I had poached eggs on brown toast - both just right and lovely bread - and my daughter had the aubergine dip with pitta bread. The dip was hot and nicely spiced, much more interesting than expected. We've also had delicious welsh rarebit before and great omelettes. Such reasonable prices for good food. Long may it continue.

Had a great walk on Hampstead Heath. Was a little hungry, and found this little place. Friendly service from the owner. Ordered a pasta and garlic bread. Was given a complimentary salad. Good food. Recommended

Popped in here for lunch whilst visiting the nearby Royal Free Hospital. Varied menu with specials but opted for club sandwiches and fries. The club choice was bacon, chicken and avocado and it was excellent, with a small side salad. Great fresh juices too. Definitely worth a visit if in the area.

Almorcé un par de veces aquí con mi familia mientras esperaba el ingreso al Royal Free Hospital para un trasplante de riñón.La ensalada de gambas y aguacate que tenía para almorzar era la más fresca y crujiente que recuerdo tener, y daba en el clavo justo (venía con un pitta de papas fritas). Mi hija también disfrutó de su espinaca fresca y ricotta. Es asequible y de buena calidad, y el personal servicial.

El desayuno inglés era realmente exquisitos! Fue algo realmente especial, los huevos escalfados eran perfectamente hecho (bonito y líquidos) y acompañados por piezas de tocino y una deliciosa salchicha agradable y sabrosa junto con frijoles, champiñones y tomate a la parrilla. He estado en muchos otros cafés de la zona, pero ninguno de ellos se compara cuando se trata de Dominique!No puedo recomendar este lugar! Difficult. Ideally should be 3 stars. A pretty looking cafe/eaterie in prime South End Green location. Tables outside for a good day.Menu suited out needs:A good coffee machine, sandwiches, salads, fresh fruit juices. Good looking ingredients.The three of us sat by the window & ordered our brunch: Cheese on toast with perfect poached eggs, and two chicken/bacon/avocado toasted club sandwiches. Brown bread (sliced, no selection, but fine). The chicken was fried schnitzel. Not very healthy, but very tasty for a back street cafe. I'd expect better from this location & neighbourhood.The problem started when, after ordering, I went down to the ladies... Apart from the damp smell and old school-toilet style cubicles, they were not up to par. One was dirty, the other didn't have paper. So i took paper from the dirty one into the clean one. This whole experience sallied by view. Upon returning upstairs to the cafe I peaked into the kitchen. This looked good, clean, guys grating carrots, scooping out fresh avocados. I was pleased!But on returning to the table and sharing my shudders, we looked around and everywhere was dirty, old, grimey, wall paper taped down near the serving area. Nothing a good wet cloth (& bleach) couldn't improve. Apart from some fresh paint over the brown existing. Wires everywhere.Dirty looking sockets...As for the bathrooms, why not have a half-hourly rota & at least remove the several empty loo rolls and put new ones in their stead? And please... send someone down with the toilet-duck every so often. Very unpleasant indeed, especially when food involved.Our server was sweet, the prices are good, food tasty & adequate (wish I hadn't gone downstairs before eating) but no way will I be returning until hygiene improves. And why should I with all the other options, plenty non-chain, within close proximity.

Fuimos a este restaurante llamado ayer, el lugar estaba bastante ocupado y nos sentamos en la parte de atrás, las mesas y el piso estaban sucias, pero estábamos hambrientos y estábamos visitando el hospital local. Esperamos un rato para que alguien tome nuestra orden, estuvimos allí durante casi 25 minutos antes de que se materializara cualquier alimento, la sopa estaba caliente, el sándwich estaba seco y añejo y el desayuno inglés completo era horrible, servido en un plato desconchado, sin tostadas , los huevos no estaban cocinados correctamente, etc. - mencionamos esto a un miembro del personal y nos preguntó "qué queríamos hacer, si queríamos irnos" con esa actitud y la mala comida / servicio que dijimos que sí y él dijo " usted sabe dónde está la salida "- así que nos fuimos. Qué forma tan desagradable de tratar a las personas, su lugar no es tan especial que pueda permitirse el lujo de ser tan grosero con los clientes, pagando a los clientes. Nunca recomendaría este lugar!

Hay varios cafés muy juntos y desafortunadamente elegí Dominiques para tomar un café y un aperitivo.Pedí queso con tostadas. Varias personas que ordenaron después de mí fueron servidas bastante tiempo antes que yo. El queso con tostadas llegó y parecía patético. Había dos rebanadas de pan, una con los bordes quemados y apenas cubiertos por queso. Raspé el queso de uno de los trozos de pan tostado para agregarlo al otro, pero aún así apenas había una capa. Esto fue acompañado por una rodaja de pepino y un pequeño trozo de tomate. He estado allí un par de veces antes. Buena comida y buen servicio, pero cuando miras en el lugar está sucio. La planta parece sucio en las esquinas y una visita a los inodoros da la impresión de que el café necesita un buen limpio y mano de pintura.

Been several times - no complaints so far. Called in a couple of weeks ago. My wife daughter and I were in a bit of a rush re hospital appointment. We were served quickly, politely and efficiently. Food was on time and excellent. Bryan Gilbert

Usually stop by here at least once when visiting London. Good choice of tasty, reasonably priced dishes. Very friendly owners and staff and they don't insist you order a lot. Happy to serve you just a cup of tea/coffee.

We were delighted to try something different for our breakfast - the Florentine eggs and welsh rarebit in the Dominique's.

I went in with my niece for a quick bite to eat. Service was 'ok' - we ordered ciabatta ham and cheese melts. We were served with ham and cheese 'thrown' on French bread and not ciabatta, not even melted cheese and the bread was doughy, chewy and not even toasted. The accompanying salad did not look fresh and the fries tasted stale...

I was staying at a hotel nearby on Haverstock Hill for several days. I had breakfast at Dominique's on Saturday morning, sitting in the open air enjoying the passersby. Full English breakfast and a cappuccino, all of which was tasty. Good value for the location (GBP 9 with tip.) My only complaint is that it doesn't open until 9 a.m. and each morning I was in town I needed breakfast around 7:30-8. So I only had the one morning to enjoy the restaurant. The next day I had to get a croissant and coffee at the Starbucks next door. In any event, friendly young women running the place. Good service, food and location.

I ate breakfast here twice because I loved the atmosphere! It is small and quaint good food. Service was very good and prices were reasonable! I ate lunch once and really enjoyed it as well!

They do nice food but the staff are not switched on. Firstly, they did not have the ravioli which was a shame but what can you do. Secondly someone ordered a green pepper, onion and cheese melt. One of the waiters shouted over to confirm it was this as opposed to a tuna and mayo(which he thought it was), Anyway they came out with a bacon and cheese melt which was sent back immediately.

Called in here for breakfast, full English,it was fantastic and plenty of it.Our order took quite a while to arrive, apparently it didn't go through on first try, but it was sorted and staff apologised for the delay.Well worth a try if the level of service and the quality and portions of the food are the same as on our visit.We'll definitely give it another try when we're next in Hampstead.

Friendly enough service - until the food arrived. My companion ordered the grilled salmon with chips and salad, but what a tiny slice of salmon - and for almost £9!! And such a mean portion of chips stranded on an over-large platter. We insisted on returning it and they obliged without any argument and replaced it with the chicken burger. Quality was fine. But then I had to ask for the bill to be changed (they'd billed us for the miserably small piece of grilled salmon) and it was changed without an argument. This place is fine if you're not particularly hungry and have got deep pockets. Hampstead is so pretty but such a rip-off.

Had breakfast in this cafe, we were staying in hotel not far from the village. They offer full English breakfasts, with vegetarian options as well. Plus many other options. The freshly squeezed OJ was good. Overall a very good place to stop and have breakfast Bill Oddie was in there, he must live locally.

A friend and I visited for lunch, she ordered a sandwich with no butter as she is allergic to it. It came out very badly presented with butter on it so she sent it back. Another one was brought to her but they had simply replaced the bread as we could still see butter on the cheese inside the sandwich. She sent it back and told them not to bother replacing it, a few minutes later a man came out of the kitchen with the sandwich and starting picking through it insisting there was no butter on it! I ate half of the panini I'd ordered then found a hair on my plate. We went to the till to pay for our drinks, no apology from the staff, would never go back.

What a consistently great place for homemade breakfast lunch or teaGreat friendly atmosphere Facility to sit outside. Staff welcoming . The individualise food orders . Great value . The cheese on toast is fantastic.

Having been to the Royal Free for a 10.00 appointment, we were looking for somewhere for a late breakfast having left Suffolk at 07.30. Most places were inaccessible (I use a mobility scooter) but when the staff at Domininque's saw us approaching they went out of their way to help us in and make a space for the scooter.Both the Americano and Mocha coffees were piping hot and delicious. My husband had the Special Breakfast which he said was excellent whilst I had the salmon scramble. I would have like the egg to be slightly less cooked but the salmon was just right - not too heavily smoked and I had no difficulty in eating all of it. We will go there again when the next early morning appointment occurs!!

found this place after a lovely long walk on hampstead heath. ideal stop for a good coffee, sandwich BLT , very tasty, and very nice slice of coffee cake. staff very friendly, it's a quaint little place. will return next time we are in this area again

Have been here on several occasions in recent months whilst in the area and are happy to keep coming back. Staff are very friendly and are happy whether you want just a drink or a full meal.

Just moved around the area and this is already my "to go place" for afternoon coffe. Vibe is always good, fire place is on in the winter and staff always present and happy to help. They have a back room for some more serious brunches and meals and a front with small tables if you just want tea or coffe. I recently went for my birthday brunch and was not disappointed. My portion of French toast were nice and big and not too heavy, although they were not "actualy toast bread" I was very happy with the result. My girlfriend got some fried eggs and sausages and again the portion was more than satisfactory. Also eggs were cooked perfectly. Food was also super fast at coming out of the kitchen, although the place was a bit empty at the time. Definitely recommended.

Called in for a late breakfast ... Vegetarian 'full English' with fresh coffee and fresh orange juice. This is my essential 'go to' eaterie when working in this part of London.

These guys are sitting on a potential goldmine but they've taken too many shortcuts. The quality of their food is shoddy, no organisation, service is all over the place and they cannot get food out on time. We popped in for breakfast and got half of it at once and the other half once we were done. Our drinks didn't arrive until after we finished our meal and the tea was vile!!! How on earth can you mess up teabag tea???It is a real shame as all they need to do is keep their menu simple and don't over stretch themselves. Learn to season, use better ingredients and work out if they are trying to be a greasy spoon cafe or a restaurant.

We had a meal here last week and was not satisfied with it. When we contacted the waiter, he was most rude when we pointed out that it wasn't edible. He even called me ignorant for not agreeing with him.When the chef did condescend to come out we found him most rudeWe would definitely not eat here again and feel that the staff need to go on a customer care course. But not the waitress, who we found was agreeable.

I was introduced to this restaurant 2 years ago by my neighbour and have since become an addict/patron. I love the lamb stew, which often pops up on the menu of the day, and the various breakfast eggs. Their French Toast and Hummus Sandwich are very lovely too, their portions very generous. I usually order the freshly squeezed orange juice as well and have never been disappointed.Their money for value is incredible, especially in the upper class Hampstead neighbourhood.The staff are always super-friendly and welcoming, it's a joy to return every time!

I popped in here wanting nothing more than a simple sandwich and a drink. I ordered, from the older of the two men there, a sausage sandwich and a diet Coke. A few minutes later, the younger man came an asked me what I had ordered, so I had to repeat it.The sandwich was horrible. It comprised a thoroughly overcooked sandwich in two slices of un-butterd bread which was bordering on stale.I cannot possibly recommend this place.

How can you write a review about a restaurant run by friends without being prejudiced.You have to eliminate any warm feelings, any smiles you get when you enter the place and just eat your lunch, dinner or breakfast. Well, I cant, as I've been coming here for over 15 years and my wife even use to work here. Since we left London we tend to visit the place ones or twice a year and always are welcomed back with a hug, a smile and good food. ( although I must admit that I was not overwhelmed by the variation on a Caesar Salad, ( sorry Hassan ! ) The fact that we still see guests from 15 years ago proves that it's a well established restaurant in the Hampstead community. Like us, they know to appreciate the quality of the food, and the people who run it. !

Came here with my family yesterday and we had the most tasteless chicken soup imaginable. It was like hot water with pieces of chicken and pasta in it. I don't think the cook can have tasted it before serving. We would have complained but didn't have the heart to as the staff were nice. Probably won't bother coming here again.

I eat here more or less once a week, it's a friendly place the service is prompt and the menu has a good range. I can't think of a time when I have been disappointed with my food, although the omelettes are sometimes a little overdone for my taste. It's a solid, reliable, family-run small business with the local community at its heart and is always fairly busy and bustling with regulars, which is the best advert for any cafe, I think.I can highly recommend from personal experience: the nicoise salad, the club sandwich, the salmon scramble, the lasagne, the special breakfast, the jacket potatoes, and the coffee.

The customer is always right doesn't apply here. The staff do not speak good English and when your order comes wrong apparently its your own fault. I ordered a cheese sandwich for my child. Just bread butter and cheese. First time it arrived toasted and I did not ask for it toasted. The second time it arrived not toasted but without butter. Oh god help me! When I asked for butter I waited 15 mins and was then confronted by the owner. Shocking how we were treated

I have been eating here on and off for years, solo and with friends. It is handy for the Royal Free Hospital, Hampstead Heath, Keats House and, not so far off, Hampstead High Street. The menu is Anglo-Med cafe style with a nod to the Iranian heritage of the owner. Great for breakfast, lunch and all the breaks in between; plenty of veggie options. Good coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice. It's Hampstead so the clientele is laid back, 30-something (plus), free-wheeling, educated and leaning towards the arty. A great place for a filling Full English breakfast with quality ingredients. There's an extensive menu, but the breakfast is so good that rarely tried anything else.

Very tasty Mediterranean-orientated food and efficient friendly service at a good price, you can't go wrong - the location on the edge of the heath is also very convenient and the folding doors onto the street make it a good hot weather option too.

Having lived in Hampstead for 2 years I have fond memories of Dominique's. food is good value for money, staff are always friendly, kind and helpful. Lovely menu and the price is right! Great atmosphere and a fantastic spot near the Heath, very nice to sit out and people watch! Will certainly be back next time I am in Hampstead

Used to be a nice place but think it has gone downhill in the last year or so. food ok and I love the art haging in there. Just think the food has gone down a bit but the prices have risen
