Recently visited food was excellent and excellent customer service best chip shop in Bridgwater definitely recommend

chips were greasy , fish was greasy batter , potato fritter was greasy , grey haired chap behind counter was scratching his head wiping his face with a tea towel looked un kempt and scruffy tea shirt scratching his head and scalp then touching the food and wiping the counter top no pride at all in the business , , haven't visited here for a long while and won`t be going back

Having used this shop for years, something has changed, either ownership or cheap products..This is first time we have ever had such a terrible takeaway meal from Dolphin.2 X fish chips, and a burger for our granddaughter, if Didn't know any different I would say it was a rat burger / come frozen micro wave mealSoggy fish batter, terrible over size chips which were also soggy.Never again, avoid at all cost.

Popped in on the off chance for fish and chips. I had not realised that it was near closing time, but I was welcomed by the very friendly staff and they freshly cooked me two portions of fish and chips. Great service. And the fish and chips were absolutely gorgeous. Very generous sized pieces of cod in delicious batter with lovely fluffy chips. And they wrap the food in paper, not those horrible plastic trays - much nicer to eat out of and more environmentally friendly . Have never been to Dolphin Fish bar before, but this will definitely not be my last visit - i will be going back for more. Thoroughly enjoyed the food, and the service. This is a takeaway service, not eat-in, but they had really good social distancing measures in place, including asking customers to wear masks when entering the shop. Very safe place to get your takeaway.

I was really surprised to see that the reviews on here aren’t of a higher overall rating. We have had bought a number of different items from Dolphin; fish, chicken, pie and battered sausage, to name a few and all enjoyed the food throughly. The food is also very reasonably priced and good value for money. I must add the spicy curry sauce is great, I’ve never been to a fish and chip shop that has offered this alternative before. They have adapted well in the current pandemic and have excellent social distancing.

When we visited this take away, it was very busy, which is a good sign! The food quality was excellent. Service was friendly and fairly fast. Prices are good. Will certainly go back here.

Always had good quality food for many years so never used any other chip shop in town. But recently not sure if they have changed there suppliers or oils or cook but it’s defo not the same chips been like in batter or mushy when unwrapped at home I’m not the only one that’s noticed it ?? When I mentioned it it was dismissed from the male lad even thou it was full of mushy fish cake I didn’t even have fish cake. I do hope it returns to it best quality would like to return as it’s my local ????

Chips are absolutely disgusting, batter on fish was soggy underneath, no flavour what’s so ever.... use to be a nice chippy but it’s gone down hill..... would not recommend very disappointing

Friendly staff as always and eager to please. Had a chicken breast and chips and an extra large cod and chips. The chips tonight we're even more amazing! Seemed as though they had been half battered and fried . Best chippy in the town. Thank you.

Good staff. Freshly cooked chicken breasts and great chips. Good portions. Very tasty. Thank you. Parking is good and the wait is not too long. You are advised to order certain foods when entering as I did.

Was in UK spending some time with my cousins and craved some good fish n chips....Dolphin delivered beyond high expectations!! The fish is so fresh, even if they had run out of haddock. The cod was delicious. Portion size for £7 is enormous with so so fresh and yummy chips. Got three orders for three people, tow orders would have been sufficient and would have still had some left over. The Dolphin staff was super friendly and efficient. The Dolphin had way more than Fish n Chips to offer; I'd go back in a heartbeat and while I am writing this review from NJ, USA, craving me another order of Dolphin Fish Bar Fish n Chips, until next time, wishing you guys much success.

Been a few times now and bought fish and chips, never been disappointed. The fish is huge and cooked fresh and to perfection. The chips are lovely too, not greasy or hard. Would definitely recommend.

Very friendly and smiling staff to greet and take your order. Good service and didn't wait long for the food to arrive. Pinched a chip as it was being wrapped! Very hot! I'm not a huge lover of chips but these are probably the best I've ever had. On Enquiry told the variety of potato was agri. Crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside these chips are fantastic. Faggots very tasty and dense. Also had a buttered roll and all for less than £5. Clean premises. A hearty thanks and goodbye. highly recommend . Good menu and one of the few chip shops still selling potato scallops.

I live no parkway and will drive to get food from dolphin as it’s the best chip shop in town to feed a family of 7 it under £20 x

Don’t buy a kebab here burnt and dried up. Mrs chicken nuggets cold before leaving dolphin fish bar car park and can’t cope with big orders.!

We are not really "into" fast food! However, just occasionally, we do have a hankering for traditional fish and chips.

Not at all happy with food ... Chips cold Batter on fish stuck on paper couldn’t get it off No salad in veggie burger 😡😡😡

The chips were cold and really mushy the pie was cold fishcake was nice we had 3 sausage one was hot and the other two were cold.wasn't what we normal have as last time we went there the food was great dont know what's going on hopefully next time it will be better please sort this as it's a great chippy.

When you're really hungry and looking for good quality Fish and Chips then I would give the Dolphin Fish bar a miss

By far, the best chip shop in Bridgwater, decent sized portions and fish is beautiful and batter nice and crispy.

It was a Wednesday evening about 9.45, I parked outside & saw closed at 10, great I thought ... went inside & was obvious they were closing as cleaning etc..decided to get something that was ready as didn't want to Be an inconvenience they had 3 lots of chips wrapped up that was all so I asked for 1, I didn't have the correct money so was a problem as no till! She took my note & came back with change..with this 2 other people came into the shop, there was 2 or 3 staff & they ignored the patiently waiting people it was so awkward as obvious were trying to close. I took my change & left as another person turned up! I think the others had the remaining chips but the last person was turned away with nothing, it was only by now 9.50, if you advertise 10 on your door you should honour customers who have made effort to go there.

First experience last night and I must say the food purchased from the Dolphin Fish Bar was absolutely excellent, best fish we have had in a long time and the chips and curry sauce were to die for. Fabulous food we will be returning and making this our local

I was driving through and popped in here as I was feeling hungry. I had just a piece of fried cod. It was very hot and crisp and the fish very fresh - absolutely delicious, and also a lot cheaper than my local chippy!

Chicken freshly cooked. Crispy skin and tasteful meat. Good size. Chips were crispy, not soggy and very hot. Very clean environment and pleasant staff. It is open on a Monday evening unlike some others!

Decided to have a fish and chip supper to celebrate a family occasion. Food was ordered in advance and ready promptly at agreed time. Excellent quality fish and chips and curry sauce. Family were surprised at the size and quality of the portions. Satisfaction all round. Thank you for helping us celebrate.

Being this chippy is just round the corner from us we use it quite regularly. Always friendly staff, good food and good sized portions.

All food freshly cooked, does get very busy at times. Staff are always nice and cater for everything you need. Shop is clean, bright and there is some seating area whilst waiting. The only chip shop I use in Bridgwater.

Beautiful fish and chips. No need for sauce as it would spoil the flavour. Friendly staff fast service, good price.

Love the fish & chips from the Dolphin. Big portions, so much so that we find a portion of chips can do 3 people! Also had some great pieces of cod, which when freshly cooked is excellent.

Called in while passing. Quick friendly service and nice battered sausage. Chips not cooked so well and loads unpeeled properly and had many eyes. Not somewhere I would go again for chips

Easy parking off the main Rd lush bubbly batter on the code massive portions helpful friendly staff in and out in no time nothing better than fish and chips in the paper can smell the salt and vinegar now 🖒

Fantastic portions which are cooked to order which is a nice touch. Prices are rather good although parking is pretty terrible (be careful of pot holes!). Perfect takeaway for a quick bite to eat in the summer or on a Friday/Saturday night.

Been using this at least monthly for several years. Good size and good quality fish makes it our f&c; of choice.

Unfortunately this place was just close to closing time when we got our food I didn't get what I wanted and the chips were pre wrapped and weren't too hot.
