Excellent service from the girls. Was greeted politely as soon as we walked in the door. The rooms were bright and clean. Had a smoothie and a cream tea scone and they were delicious. The cost was less than I expected and very reasonable. Will definitely go back when I return next year.

We stopped in waiting for our timed ticket & to get something to eat. It's a lovely little tea room that serves more than tea. The sheep motif reminded us that this was where Dolly the sheep was cloned. They offer simple breakfast rolls & bagels with a small variety of options or warm porridge. Drinks were cold, hot, or bottled. We did not get to see the other menus available. The waitstaff were friendly, smiling & answered all our questions. There were delicious looking pastries at the register, plenty of people came in for a brownie & coffee takeaway that you could tell they were regulars. Another notice was that it was dog friendly. A lady came in with her small dog & was able to let the dog lie while enjoyed her morning drink.

I stopped in on a cold, rainy morning after a visit to Rosslyn Chapel. I needed something hot to warm me up after walking back to town from the Chapel, and while waiting for the bus back to Edinburgh. Dolly’s didn’t disappoint. Named for the famous cloned sheep, they have a nice menu with a little something for everyone. The tea was particularly nice, and you can’t find it here in the United States. I believe it was called Shibui Tea? I had the orange/ginger variety and it’s the only tea I’ve ever had that made me continually think about it for weeks on end. If you’re in Roslin, Dolly’s Tea Room is a must visit establishment for a warm welcome, and cozy cuppa.

Have been 3 times now, hoping that it would be better but again really disappointed. The food is very overpriced for what you get. 2 very plain ham salads and 2 coffees (coffee was actually good) for £25! Also I know it's busy at times with all the tourists from the chapel but constantly messy tables left with staff not bothering to clear unless you come in and ask for a table. Outside sitting area is tatty. Radiator next to our table was filthy. It's a shame because it could be an absolutely first class cafe. They're really lucky there's not much competition in the village. I don't think I'll bother giving it another try.

Poor service. Owners children playing around in the restaurant. I appreciate it is hard having children off school, but it was not appropriate to have children playing around when hot food and drinks are being served. On top of that the food, while ok, was very overpriced. The cloakroom was less than clean. I’ve been here before and I feel that it has since deteriorated significantly. Perhaps it has rested on its laurels too much rather than maintaining its previous high standards of service and price point. I won’t return until I hear that standards have improved.

No table service, had to order at till. I ordered soup & panini. Son is a bit of fussy eater, I asked if I can just have a portion of chips to be told ‘we don’t do chips’ , I said but you serve them with stuff off kids menu….was basically ignored. I then asked can I get a plain toasted bagel with butter…I was told no. Basically there was no option on the till for this either. Not very accommodating, keep up with the times! Sometimes kids don’t want a big lunch! So I ended up having to order nuggets and ‘chips’ was £7, so I paid £7 for a few chips. Told they could make me toast, why not put a bagel through as toast? I honestly felt like they were not doing anything to accommodate, so lunch cost £25, then I ordered a hot choc , tea & 2 cakes….£15 … outrageous!!! £40 for lunch! Overpriced for very average food. Did not enjoy my 1st experience at dolly’s, won’t be recommending to anyone, and I doubt I’ll be back. Very sad 😔

We tried Dolly's Tea Room for the first time yesterday after discovering it online, even though we live not too far away. We always like a soup and sandwich/toastie deal for lunch as it leaves room for a cake. We downloaded the menu and saw exactly what we wanted - soup and toastie deal. On arrival we were shown to our table and given the menu. No sandwiches, no toasties, no soup and sandwich/toastie deal on it. Only bagels or panini's on a very limited menu. My wife wanted to leave as she doesn't like either, but I persuaded her to stay after spotting the Scottish salmon and cream cheese bagel on the menu. It was delicious, and one of the best lunches I've had out in a long time. The staff were excellent - very friendly, welcoming and attentive. I've only given it 4 stars because they seriously need to update their website. The menu is out of date and misleading. Essential, I would think, as they have a captive market here with the world famous Rosslyn Chapel just down the road and people will check out nearby eating places online.
