Dog and partridge in Thurrock

We went to lunch at the Dog and Partridge after going to Barnards Farm Gardens, which was great. We enjoyed an absolutely delicious meal, all freshly cooked. My husband had steak, chips and peas; my son ordered fish, chips and peas and the chef cooked vegan sausage and mash for me with onion gravy. I can highly recommend eating at the Dog & Partridge, and enjoying a drink in the garden, sitting by the duck pond. Thank you.

Pub lunch in the garden with friends. As always, Ron’ and his kitchens turns out a fab meal every time. Great food cold beer in the garden… what more could you want.

What a hidden gem! Beautiful natural surroundings with a pond, flowers water birds and chicks. Came for a small wedding. Exceptional staff very credible and plentiful buffet. Manager chef staff couldn’t do enough to make sure we were all looked after. Large natural grounds barbecue….will be retuning for Sunday lunch. Definitely going to pop in.

After a long walk in Thorndon myself, wife and 2 dogs popped into the D&P for a couple of pints and something to eat. We haven’t been there for a while but it was a good call. Awesome Sunday dinner, excellent service and a thoroughly enjoyable couple of hours. Cannot recommended highly enough. We will be back soon😀

Met up here again with family. Friendly helpful staff, always happy to accommodate. Menu is traditional but if you have a fussy child as I do, they are more than happy to oblige. Traditional pub setting, lovely gardens. Inside dinning to the rear worh traditional country pub feel in the main front bar. Highly recommend. Run by local people who care. Look forward to seeing you again soon.

Great staff attitude when booking on the phone. Actually someone who was happy to take the booking and great-full for the business after all we have been through. Thoroughly nice people. This was continued when we arrived, ordered food and so on. Even when we had a slight issue worh one meal it was rectified immediately, in a polite and professional manner. We had a great time and they made my daughter feel special who was celebrating her belated birthday (2nd teenage one in lock down) fantastic evening and we will certainly be back. On leaving we were bid fair-well by our waitress and along with chef. What a wonderful experience. Thank you. Food was faultless. Service was great, friendly and polite at all times. Desert was tops. Drinks flowed without news to be waiting between drinks. Brilliant.

Went there last nite for a meal lovely old pub very nice staff BUT food Awful really bad we were the only 1s in the restaurant 6 of us no lamb shanks so ok well have steaks only to be told no steaks at all so again we made our order with what they had prawn cup made wirh the cheep none tasting prawns n hunter chicken dry n nasty needless to say we wont be going back there dont like leaving a bad review but seriously bad none of us liked the food sorry

Waited ages for our roast to come out and when it finally did, they then informed us they didn't have what we'd ordered for our daughter. We asked why we weren't told before and they said that they'd only just checked. All they ordered her was ham, egg and chips. My daughter ended up with chicken chips and peas as no beans either. No selection on Bitters and didn't seem to have what you asked for. I will not ever return, not worth the money for what we actually got. Very disappointed!

Very enjoyable meal, reasonably priced friendly atmosphere staff were very polite and helpful Would definitely recommend and will be returning in the future.

Popped in here as we were on the way home from friends.Very friendly place, clean and tidy, nice layout. Had some lovely food in the dining area and some drinks at the bar. Food was served hot and promptly. Staff were very friendly and polite. Price was extremely reasonable. Definitely recommend this place.Noticed there was a very large garden area so will definitely go back in the warm weather.

Staff could have been more attentive business dinner we all felt we were not the customers all local Thurrock people I will not be returning not sure about the others

Had a lovely meal in the Dog and Partridge. Nothing too fancy just honest pub grub and plenty of it. Prices pretty good also. Would visit again next time we are in the area

Visited on a Saturday lunchtime & staff really welcoming. Great that it is dog friendly in a smart bar area & served very nice food at reasonable price. Will be back!

Popped in here with my family and the staff were very unwelcoming. Spoke to us with their back turned and couldn’t even be bothered to smile. Need some customer service training and quick. Won’t be returning.

Had a great roast dinner here this afternoon and a lovely dessert. Staff are friendly and attentive and were happy to help at every turn. Will 100% be back.

Been there many times as its near and we tend to do things last minuete, plus its pet friendly in the bar where you can also eat. Shame you have to see a couple of the 4 tvs where ever you sit! I have a tv at home and can watch what I want!!! here you cant. Food is ok but nothing special, menu dos,nt change apart from a couple of specials on the board but I suppose its only pub grub.

Never been here before but I was so impressed we may make it a regular Tuesday night stop, we got bored of the place we usually go to so when we found this place... What a treat!

I thought they bit off more than they could cope with to be honest. We were a company of 6 adults and 2 children and we had had 2 rounds of drinks at the table. Everyone that spoke to us complained that they were asked to leave as we were. My mum, who had the beef, left her meal after a couple of bites as it was too tough, mine was cold and others had similar. I didn't complain, it was Mothers Day...........never again.

Found this pub a bit seedy with no atmosphere and just a group of lager louts. It gives the impression that it's a country pub but really lacks that atmosphere and is always empty

Took my family out for lunch on a Friday afternoon. I hadn't booked but managed to get a table as we arrived at 12 but did fill up soon after so obviously popular place.

Called in 3 weeks ago for a pint after work after visiting a customer at Ongar Hall Farm but had already eaten.

Empecemos con el positivo de este pub, la ubicación y el entorno son excelentes, con un paisaje encantador. Sin embargo, el comedor necesita una renovación ya que es muy viejo y anticuado. Sólo había una camarera en las mesas, lo que significaba que había demoras. También nos quedamos boquiabiertos al ver algunos pequeños niños y liquidación mesas. Una vez la comida llegó finalmente a mi pareja estaba cubierto un pelo en su ensalada y mi plato en sustancia. Además, el pan para mi sándwich muy rancio y tuvimos que comer.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is absolutely the best pub food Ive ever had. The chips are real homemade chips and very tasty.

Un salto en la noche del martes por primera vez y fue recibido por un amable personal que tomó nuestra orden de bebidas y comida. La comida llegó rápidamente y era de buena calidad y el tamaño de la porción era excelente. El mismo miembro del personal registrado con nosotros para asegurarse de que todo fuera de nuestro agrado, una vez que habíamos tenido la oportunidad de probar la comida. El bar era tranquilo y que se sentía muy acogedor y agradable.

Popped in here for lunch today (Saturday). Not that busy, ordered a ploughman's and plain burger and chips. 45 minutes later food still not arrived. Was told by the waitress would be another 5-10minutes. Paid for drinks and left. 2nd time service has been appalling,...

this restaurant has a great view into the garden with a nice pond and ducks, great to take children. the food is proper pub grub, well presented by friendly staff.

Muy decepcionante. La comida era terrible, la pobre camarera joven trató de hacer lo posible por satisfacer. El primer plato era bien pero la comida era algo que desear. Patatas fritas empapadas en menú carne sólo era cadera que me masticar durante toda la noche. Luego pedimos una tabla de quesos, pero me dijeron que puede tener el queso, pero no venden galletas? ? . No sorprende que el lugar estaba vacío. Nunca más, muy pobre. No me sorprendería ver esta siendo otro pub de cerrar.

Excelente servicio a pesar de tener que intercambiar una pocas personas. Todos disfrutamos de sus comidas y apreciamos la paciencia del personal del bar mientras estábamos esperando para ascensores.

On our way home came across the Dog and Partridge we were Hungary and stoped and had some lovely food and service will go back as the food was first class in pleasant location must be better in the summer

Nicely tucked just off the A128 and a delightful setting with a stunning view from the restaurant. The food (and a variety was served among our group) was very well presented and ingredients were all fresh. The meal itself was cooked to perfection and the drinks were very keenly priced. The staff could not be faulted and were always on hand and very helpful and very courteous. I was pleasantly surprised at the friendliness and endearing sense of humour exuded by the staff and all in all it was a very enjoyable dining experience.

Went here for a meal with 17 friends and the food was delicious. Really nice friendly staff, beautiful location and great to watch the crested ducks on the pond.

We sat on the terrace, which was lovely with a view across the pond. We placed our order, and after about ten minutes waiting we were told that they had run out of peppers so two of us had to choose a different starter. We chose "mixed olives", which turned out to be not mixed at all, just a bowl of small, tasteless unpitted olives that were all the same. Three of the four mains were good. I had a halloumi salad, which was well presented and tasty. For dessert, three of us ordered Eton mess. This was the most disappointing of all-the berries were not fresh (I'd guess frozen, but could have been tinned), and there was hardly any meringue. We asked the waitress where the meringue was, and she pointed at the dish to a few crumbs that looked like they were what had been left in the packet. The service was quite slow too.

Our first visit to the pub/restaurant was spur of the moment, and we were welcomed in had a lovely meal traditional pub grub with a modern twist very well presented and plenty of it too. The cost was very reasonable. We immediately booked to return over this weekend with 20 others, the team there were very well organised emailing the menu and booking forms through. Nothing was too much trouble and they were extremely efficient very friendly and welcomed all in like friends. Can't wait to go again. Thanks

Have visited this pub for many years. Had a lunch with family lovely food freshly cooked bit of a wait but worth it and good value. Lovely atmosphere and real fire burning. Staff friendly all in all a nice place for families or couples. Lovely garden which is great in the summer.

Went to this restaurant with friends and found the staff really friendly. The food was good and there was something for everyone. We all had 2 courses and a couple of drinks and the bill came to £15 each. Not bad at all.

Food average but nice real ale beer. The pub had a large garden area where ducks were swimming in the grounds of the pub, great for small children and I would it's a great family pub

Great staff great food been here many times never been disappointed. Keep up the great work. Ps staff are very honest I was over charged by mistake I didn't realise they called me a hour later to tell and gave me the money back. Where else would that happen. Top job

We visited this restaurant this evening and found the food to be excellent. My steak was cooked perfectly and the service was excellent, even though the restaurant was busy. We will definitely return soon.

Food was okay. Nothing special. Food took AGES to come out, so we were expecting something fantastic and as disappointed. Might return again if in the area. Ps waitress needs to wear a longer skirt!
