We enjoy this venue for our Sunday dinner and get good service especially from one of the waitresses called Dawn Poole and one of the Manageresses is especially helpful - Sarah.

Good service, good banter and polite. I wanna say “Rebel” I believe, if I’ve wrote his name correctly. He and his team provided great service throughout the meal. Plus the food was banging

Atmosphere is great and team are really attentive, especially Gurj. Always happy to help and puts the customers needs first. Lovely afternoon drink had and will be returning

What a disappointment. My friend and I have been a few times before and the food as been okay, however last night was a different story. We chose Lasagna, which was questionable, more like minced meat with a sheet of pasta on the top sprinkled with cheese, boiled to danger point that we had to leave for a long while before we could even attempt to eat it. I can only assume it was the chef’s night off or someone just didn’t know how to make it, it was very poor. We chose a chocolate brownie and a sticky toffee pudding for dessert and that wasn’t much better, stodgy and non descriptive. Considering all I’m afraid we shall be taking our business elsewhere.

It was a Monday evening and there was a good atmosphere in the pub, Service was very efficient with TOM serving at the bar. He was friendly, very helpful and efficient to ensure that our drinks were to our liking - offering strawberries with the berry J2O ! Thank you, Tom

Brunch with family. New menu which we couldn't fault. Service was brilliant - Dawn our waitress even had gluten free treats for our dog. Delicious food and good portion sizes

2 steaks cooked perfectly.. Crispy chicken starters very tasty. Good portion sizes. Nicely laid out tables with a good atmosphere. Staff friendly and approachable. Would recommend if in the area.

Had not been to the Dog &Gun for some time but had always had a decent meal , so thought it a fair bet for a nice lunch. I had the BBQ Chicken and my wife had the Fish cakes both off the light Bite section of the menu. I had a pint of London Pride and my wife had a white coffee. The drinks were very good but the food was a different story. The fish cakes were very thin, my chicken was over cooked and not sure what kind of chicken it was. Also the chips were over cooked and quite salty.

Positives: good food that was served quickly, nice and clean toilets, can reserve a seat online and order food via app to table. Negatives: no one to meet and greet on arrival so was unsure where our reserved table was, had to find it ourself by chance. My veggie burger was missing the feta cheese as advertised on menu, I mentioned it to staff, he said he would speak with Chef but never got back to me, so no point in asking if meal was okay. Very busy on a Saturday evening in restaurant and bar with only 2 serving behind bar. Was not made clear you had to order food at bar, I expected table service but no staff around on floor. Had to pay at bar as WiFi did not work to connect to Ember Inns app and then it woukd not accept my gift voucher. This was my first visit and glad they do a loyalty card. Unsure if I would go again. In walking distance from Regis Road if getting the bus from Wolverhampton to the venue. There is a busy car park also on site.

Lovely pub, shame about the service . There was food on tables when we arrived and still there when we left, customer's were clearing there own tables so they could sit down, rude staff. Won't be going again.

Great experience this evening at the Dog and Gun, had a wide range of quality ales that is always nice to see accompanied by the bar team having all the knowledge of each. The food was excellent and we were treated and looked after so well by those bringing us our food who were just as smiley as the bar team. So impressed!! We will be returning

Had an awful experience at the Dog and Gun, waitress was rude, we had to clear our own table, desserts were rubbish and £6 each, manager was a waste of time. This was always a nice place to eat but the food and service is now better at McDonalds.

Lovely lunch. Had selection of sides and light bite. Great value for money, great service and atmosphere. A regular place for us.

We had been here a couple of times before and had no problems however no this occasion it was terrible. We arrived on time to find that or table for 6 was not ready so stood around while they found us one which was in the bar area and not the restaurant, we ordered or food and drink at the bar as required we then had to wait nearly an hour before the food arrived which to say the least was poorly cooked and cold not only that one of or group had to wait a further 10 mins has they had forgotten to prepare it, one of the meals was sent back due to it being so bad you couldn’t eat it, which the manager removed from the bill however when we got the bill it was £30 more than we had spent which was corrected following a visit to the bar, in general it was a terrible experience the food was very poor the service was also very poor in fact we all left there filling as if we had just been mugged. I well never return and would suggest anyone thing of going to think twice before booking there are many restaurants in the area which are far better.

Drinks and food with friends. Nothing can go wrong with drinks in a public house but the food as always was a cold, shrivelled and dry disappointment! The food had obviously sat for far too long under a heat lamp - why. We don’t expect 5* but please kitchen get your timings right. Won’t be eating there in a hurry

Mediocre Sunday “lunch” at 4.30pm. Barely warm, tough roast potatoes snd parsnips. Felt like they had been reheated from the peak lunchtime period. Pigs in blankets inedible snd burnt, again barely warm. Complained but no one came to speak to us. Certainly wouldn’t recommend this pub and won’t be going again. Very dissatisfied

The service was good but the food was hot and miss. I had the pie - it was basically just a shell of burnt pastry with very little filling - I definitely wouldn't advise bothering with that. The others said their meals were OK. I didn't bother with dessert.

Visited here to celebrate my brothers birthday. Food was lovely, ales were great, and service was friendly and efficient. Been a few times lately and enjoyed it so obviousely the place is heading on the up! Appreciate the team helping me make my brothers birthday...

Bar person didn't understand what orange juice was. Steak was just like gristle, chips warmed up. No one came to see if the meal was alright,staff seemed to keep out of the way. Even as we walked out. Very disappointed time spent there

I booked with family for my 70th birthday as I had been before and everyone was nice and friendly. This time the staff were rude quite sharp and unhelpful. I would not go there again as the atmosphere was not nice, a different place than...

This was our first visit and we were impressed. Good value for money! Would have scored five but chips and tomato on my gammon could have been a tad hotter but nothing major ! Will try the steak night in next few weeks.

It was a birthday treat for my husband. Service was slow. Long and drawn out. They used the excuse that there was a large party booked. (Surely they knew this and could have added staff?) Food was acceptable but not special. We had only two...

Went Saturday 10th June with 40 family & friends to celebrate me & my wife's birthdays. John & his staff put on a fabulous buffet for less than a tenner a head. Food was excellent and as always there was a good selection of cask...

Took the family there for dinner at the recommendation of a friend. Everything was very good, the service, the food, and a lovely place. Definitely going back.

8 of us visited a week ago for outside service. We waited over 45 minutes for 3 drinks and 2 of the sides to arrive. The tiny vegan burger was dry, did not come with chips, and the salad that accompanied it looked like it had been left out all day. As well as this, one of the waiters was very rude to us regarding some confusion with one of the meals... There was a reduced menu offering 1 vegan option; a vegan burger which I ordered. The waiter serving us came over and asked who had ordered the 'angus' (beef) burger. When we told him none of us had, he immediately changed his mind and told me it was the vegan burger. This obviously filled me with uncertainty so I asked him to go and check with the kitchen and he returned with the same burger. As someone with allergies and intolerances to meat and dairy, I was still concerned that the burger wasn't vegan so my friend offered to try it for me to see if she could tell if it was beef or plant-based. The same waiter then came over and rudely asked my friend if she works in their kitchens and if she would know the difference between the burgers. We were all gobsmacked at his attitude and agreed that we wouldn't be returning.

Used to be ok...now very poor veggie options..and expensive....probably worst iv been to..shame.wont be visiting again.

visited yesterday served by Jaz who was excellent, very helpful. We eat here regularly and know the place quite well. Its normally very busy but today with the new regulations it was quiet. The food is always good value and service quick.

Me and my friend arrived and ordered a drink which didn’t come. 10 minutes later a member off staff asked what we would like to drink after we had already ordered them. We ordered the food which took a while to come which is understandable as they were busy. When the food finally came it was such a disappointment! we had to send our side of garlic bread back as it was burnt and literally black, when we told the man who brought the food over he didn’t even apologise and just said that they were busy and it will take a long time to do another one and said he will take it off the tab! we both ordered hunters chicken which was very very dry, it was burnt underneath but the food wasn’t very warm. We came away very dissatisfied and still hungry. This was a waste of money and will definitely not be returning. The food was awful and the customer service was disgusting they came across rude and couldn’t even apologise for the terrible service and made us feel like an inconvenience!

Been to the pub tonight with all the new lock down measures in place all the staff were helpful and attentive despite being very busy 10 out of 10 scored

Seems that the team here don't really understand social distancing and covid measures. As others have mentioned some staff wearing masks and others not.The staff themselves come across a little sullen and lack customer service skills. Our cutlery was literally dropped on the table without a word. Food was brought out and again barely a word spoken.The positive is that the ultimate burger was actually not too bad though the chips were undercooked and in some cases not cooked at all.

Our second visit to this pub ... during the government scheme so we were very understanding with it being busier than usual, we were seated and informed to go to the bar for ordering, then our starter took 1hour 15 minutes to arrive and our main course a further 45 minutes.... I had the posh fish and chips and they were definitely NOT posh and NOT worth the price tag... we are local and very disappointed with the long wait ... hardly any service as there looked like only one member of staff working and the food was less than average

Went at 2.30 today looking forward to a Sunday roast and was told they had already run out. They had also run out of our second choice so was very tempted to leave and get a takeaway instead. I don’t usually moan about things but felt like I needed to comment. Communal menus and cutlery bought over to us along with sauces etc.... thought these should all be in sashes ??? Only one member of staff wearing a mask and another one leaning over us all to pass the food. Having said that when the food came it was ok. I know people might say why go out if you’re going to moan but we’ve eaten out a few times over the last month and everywhere else has followed the rules and you’ve felt safe. I suppose people need to make their own mind up but wouldn’t go again at the moment......just being honest.

We had booked our table for 5 people. We were greeted at the door by a friendly guy who showed us to our table. He was very helpful. Plenty of room for baby in pushchair. Toilets were immaculate. You had to go to bar to order food. Our food arrived quickly & we were all pleased by our meals. My daughter had the sea bass it was a huge meal. We did have quite a long wait for our table to be cleaned & our desserts to arrive, but it was busy. My Eton mess sundae was dissapointing & my husband had very little custard to go with his treacle sponge. Saying this we would definitely visit again without dessert.

I booked a table online and turned up on time for the table booking. I stood in the doorway for 5 minutes waiting for the staff to see to me. The lady behind the bar was busy serving and did not acknowledge me and then the man whom I assume is the manager walked past me several times clearing tables without even acknowledging me or advising me someone would be with me. When the lady from behind the bar booked me in she took me to a table that was bythe entrance to the toilets and kind of dark so I asked if I could have one of the two empty tables by the window. She seemed confused by this and said she would ask the manager.She did approach him and them went straight back behind the bar leaving me standing. I waited for the manager to finish with the customers at the door but was shocked and disappointed to be left standing there while he attended the next arrivals at the door. By now a good 15-20 minutes had passe with myself not having a table and being completely ignored. I went and asked the manager where was I sitting and he abruptly replied you can sit there ( not taking me to the table) and demanding the table be empty for 3.30pm. he walked off without a backwards glance. I have never experienced such rude, unprofessional and ignorant service in my life. I left the establishment and took my friend (whose birthday we were celebrating) and went to the Crown on The Wergs Road spending our money on a 3 course lunch and cocktails. I will never recommend The Dog and Gun again. Disgusting service.

I visited here with my wife after recently moving to Tettenhall. We have only been here a couple of times but we are always made to feel welcome at the Dog and Gun. I feel so lucky to have this pub as our local because it feels so cosy. There is a lovely view of Tettenhall Green just across the way when you look out the window as well. I am surprised as to why some people are complaining about the prices when I think they seem quite reasonable. My wife and I had the two course meal deal for £10 and I had a pint of London Pride which was only £2.85. This was on a Thursday evening. The food came quite soon after ordering and it was nice and hot. The portion sizes were bigger than I was expecting and the desert I had was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and we will definitely be making more future visits here. Five Star all round.

Love this place, staff are super friendly, attentive and can't do enough for you. Food is always nice and with a really friendly atmosphere. can't recommend the dog and gun enough. The duty manager guy call Mang, is an asset to the business. Will be coming back very soon.

We visited the pub in early March and were hoping for a nice family meal. If anything we felt like an inconvenience! The guy behind the bar who looked like the manager was down right miserable and didn’t seem like he wanted any business. We took the drinks back to the table and decided on what we wanted to eat. Upon deciding we went back to the bar to place the order (again didn’t want to know). The food arrived and was luke warm, felt like it was a microwave Sunday dinner - tasteless and terrible veg. I wouldn’t recommend going for food.

Booked a table at Dog and Gun today Sun 8 March. Meal took over an hour to reach table and was served without cutlery. Had to wait ages for cutlery and my meal was cold. Sent back to kitchen. By time it came back to table, fellows diners had finished. My plate was far too hot to touch and food was dry and ruined. No condiments or sauces were offered at time of serving meal. When plates were cleared away I relayed my experience to Manager, but didnt really get any real apology. Shame. Nice put but food and service has let it down. Wont be going back

We visited here on Sunday with our family for a birthday celebration. We had to pre-order due to the size of the party. We sat in the raised section at the back, tucked out of the way so an not to disturb other customers. The service was terribly slow. We will normally wait for everyone to get there meals before starting to eat. Luckily we didn’t yesterday, I’d actually finished my meal before my parents meal arrived. In fact in finished and there was a 10 minute wait before their meal arrived. They appeared quite disorganised, getting some of the meals wrong and not knowing what meals they were waiting for. The meals aren’t huge, they were tasty but not the hottest.I think there are nicer places to go!

Came here with my friend and his wife on Saturday night.We reserved a table as it was very busy with the Six Nations Rugby being shown, which was enjoyable to watch, well done England!!We all had enjoyable meals, me and my friend had sirloin steaks with peppercorn sauce and his wife had the lamb hot pot, all delicious dishes, washed down with a pint of Tribute ale and great customer service.This is my local pub and have been here many times before and it's never disappointed, will be back again soon.

Very nice friendly staff, made to feel welcome. Nice environment and decor. Food offering is Pub Grub I would think most dishes "bought in" not cooked from scratch but at the prices charged you wouldnot expect top quality. Our meals were nicely presented and the vegetables cooked perfectly. Desserts were fine, if you have the set menu work out at £2.00 each. Great value.

We had the festive menu turkey lunch. Quite expensive for what it was. It took a long time to arrive and when it did the turkey was dry abd tough, the sprouts were mushy and the carrots hard. This is not the first time we have been dissatisfied with the food here. We had decided to give it a second try, we shall not be returning.

I haven't been in here before but visited with a friend yesterday for a quick drink. We had a nice little table by the fire which was cosy, had a couple of drinks and ordered two sandwiches and although advised there would be a 30 minute wait for food, the order came through quickly. Nice fresh bread with a side salad and chips, very reasonable for £4.99 - guy who served us with the food was very pleasant and the girl behind the bar was nice too - I have nothing to compare it with like other reviewers so not sure what the evening/hot food would be like, but for a quick bite it was very enjoyable.

Very poor restaurant, very slow and poor meals, only about 10 chips on plate. Gentleman who served us was very arrogant and not friendly at all. If it wasn’t a group of us we would have walked out with his attitude very rude. Service very slow, waited ages for food, drinks over priced. The gentleman was serving collecting dishes and taking the food out while the 2 ladies stood about. Waited ages for drinks too while the ladies chatted, pudding also cold not warm at all. Pudding order wrong too, had to wait for some. My advise would be to go elsewhere, keep clear of this place. Very poor and miserable staff

Attended with 4 family members on Sunday as a pre-Christmas get together having pre-booked a few weeks earlier. I wouldn't say it was particularly busy for a Sunday lunch service as there were plenty of empty tables but the service would suggest otherwise. It took us the best part of 20 minutes to get served with drinks at the bar, which should have been an indicator of things to come. There were no menus on the table so we had to request these even though I would have expected them to be on there when it was pre-set for a dining party. We ordered from the Festive Menu and were informed there was a 30 minute wait for food. However, an hour later we were still waiting! We complained to a member of staff who checked with the kitchen and we were told our food was being plated next. A further 15 minutes later, it arrived. What a disappointment and certainly not the image presented on the menus. I will let the photo do the talking there. We were offered free desserts in lieu of the wait but the whole experience was very poor.

Went in on a Wednesday lunch and returned Thursday. Very busy on both may benefit from some extra staff as looked very rushed and short, great service considering the volume, food excellent for price, will definitely return. Chicken blt is bostin. Lol

Went for a drink there was only four of us. We walked in and it wasn’t very busy at all. It Took us 15 minutes to just get a drink and when we did finally got served. The staff were rude and not friendly at all. Won’t be going back !

Sirloin steak ordered ,don’t know what was served but tough as old boots.Sent it back and was brought another one .It looked good but again was really tough.Couldnt be bothered to send back .Attempted half of it and gave up .Informed waiter to advise to change supplier .Very disorganised when faced with large party dining

Decided to have the 2 course deal and paid £2 extra to have steak. Asked for medium rare, it came well done with burn! Mentioned it to waiter and was told it was how it came off the grill! Battered mushrooms starter nearly all batter. Friend had burger. I know it’s cheap dining but at least deliver what customers ask for. Very disappointed this time. Previous visits have been ok.

Came here on a Friday night with a party of about 20. Reserved a lovely big table for us. Me and my husband had the 3 course set menu and all courses were fantastic. Everyone in the party said how nice the food was and the service was brilliant too. Inside it's a lovely atmosphere with an old style inn decor. Beautiful interior. Would definitely come here again. 3 course set menu on a Friday was only £11.49 which is amazing! 100% recommend!

We were looking to find somewhere to get some food and drink before the Wolves match, I have not been in here for over 30yrs since I lived in Wolverhampton. Large and well laid out inside with plenty of room between the tables. We both had lasagna, salad,chips and two pints of larger and it came to just under £29- which I thought was great value for money. We both said the lasagna was the best we have had for ages, the chips were tasty and not greasy, and the pints of larger were spot on. Will definitely go again.

Great staff and atmosphere. Had half roast chicken meal was ok the roast potatoes were a let down. Dessert was lovely. Have booked for Christmas with the family hoping for better roasties.

We just popped out for tea. The food was delicious! The Pate was amazing and the pork belly simply melted in the mouth! Joe gave us excellent service and Andy the manager was excellent too. Definitely go again!

Family impressed with theirs, the pepper sauce was bland. Rude barman, served someone else while the table number was sought out.

we three friends went for a meal - one vegetarian who had the vegan lasagne, two fish lovers had the sea bass - the lasagne looked runny and thin, one sea bass cooked perfectly the other was over cooked - but both had good sauce.

Had a lovely evening with family. I chose the Belly Pork meal which was absolutely delicious and rated amongst the best belly pork ever. However , my husband chose the Dansak Curry , which I am sorry to say probably rated as one of the worst curries he has ever eaten.

My wife and I popped in for a meal last night about 7pm (06/04/2019) and even though the place was quite busy managed to get served in a timely manner. I then went to order food at the bar the wife requested Lasagne and I requested the mixed grill and agreed to have the upgrade to 8oz steak, we was told 45 minutes wait but we had plenty of time so didn't mind. when the food came all I got was a steak, so called staff over and one of them just stared at it, I said I had the mixed grill and had paid the right price for it so they took it away to swap, but was told I would have to wait another 45 minutes even though it was their mistake, when I got the correct food I thought it was not worth the money we paid for it, the chicken was obviously microwaved and so was the lasagne and was not very filling, it will be a long time before I visit here again.

Booked this for a family birthday meal on Sunday. Couldnt see anywhere to go in regards to my reservation so went straight to the bar. The blonde lady behind bar didnt even mutter a hello, literally just walked over, blank face, and stared at us. Placed drinks order (a gin and ale festival was advertised but the ale selection was underwhelming) and asked about reservation. Again, no real attempt to talk just walked over to diary and told us our seat was "in the corner over there". If there was anywhere in walking distance I'd have had half a mind to walk out.

Decent menu of usual pub food adequate but not exciting. Not busy but food took 30+ minutes to arrive, this is not acceptable when trying to grab a meal in lunch break. No complaints about quality or quantity just not outstanding. Disappointed to find dogs allowed. We were also unfortunate that there was a baby that screamed the entire time we were there which did nothing to enhance our experience. Unlikely to visit again

We booked a table for 12 people, for lunchtime on Sunday feb 17th. The pub was very clean, staff very friendly, and our table was ready. We chose then ordered, a selection of dishes.... Sunday Roasts, burger and chips, slow cooked ribs, and a chicken, bacon and avocado salad. The food came promptly, good portions and extremely high quality. We were all extremely happy with our meals, and as it was a very special family occasion, I am glad we ignored some of the recent reviews and dined at the Dog and Gun. We will definitely be eating there again. 10 out of 10

Visited the Dog & Gun for Christmas Day lunch with my family. Food and service was excellent. The only negative was that our table was next to a loud and obnoxious party which did spoil the mood unfortunately. We expected better clientele in this area but obviously that’s not the pubs fault! Probably wouldn’t come here again for Christmas Day based on that but will visit again at a quieter time.

We went with friends for a Christmas meal. Food was quite poor, if you like your teeth don’t try the roast potatoes as they were rock solid.

Called in for lunch recently...our first visit for some time as the food and service had gone down hill...This time although there was a welcoming fire there was no acknowledgement or greeting when we entered and we were left to wander round to find an empty table......the gentleman on the bar was very helpful and the food acceptable, albeit the peas were dried up but overall ok....the downside was we didn't feel particularly welcome and whilst the plates were collected, no one seemed interested whether we wanted a sweet or anything...At another local establishment the service is more professional.....We may visit again when hopefully service and welcome will be more encouraging

Had meal here last night and it was really enjoyable. Fantastic selection of food and very reasonably priced.

The staff were very friendly and pleasant. We were served by a waiter called Dan who waa very friendly and polite. The food was of a high standard and piping hot. If i had an observation to make the garlic bread had a taint of meat as it had been cooked on a griddle.

We normally eat here every Sunday and although it’s pub food, we always have excellent service and food. Gavin, the manager, does everything he can to make this pub into a great place to eat or meet friends for a drink. All of the staff try their upmost to provide great service and food and I’m sure much of this comes from Gavin’s work ethic and standards. Keep up the good work guys Looking forward to visiting after the refurbishment in couple of weeks

went for pub lunch with 3 friends, food was amazing, staff were great. had a nice time. Good old fashioned pub grub, no frills, will come again thanks guys

Ordered sausage and mash on set menu. Literally just that, not so much as a pea, Never known this anywhere else. Mash tasted like it had been made for sometime, sausages were over seasoned and over cooked so didn't bother to complain as didn't want another one. Don't know if you get better if you order off normal menu and pay more. Soup was nice though.

Excellent pub good choice of larger/real ales friendly atmosphere food menu good too well worth a visit, also staff and manager are really professional and polite

We visit quite often as we are local to the area. There's good selection of drinks and it is reasonable priced. The food menu has both lunch and evening offers, it is quite tasty. Bar area is cosy and we love their big armchairs! Definitely worth visiting.

I visited here at lunch time with 2 friends just for a drink and bite to eat to catch up,it was a nice afternoon so we sat outside, the tables face the car park but its not too bad and there is plenty of greenery.

A friend and I had a most enjoyable, leisurely lunch at The Dog and Gun, Tettenhall at a very reasonable price. We opted for two courses, a main and a sweet. The main was cooked and presented well and served by a very pleasant waitresses, sorry I didn’t get her name. The sweets were scrumptious and a very good size compared to other places I’ve eaten. We shall return!

Needs major work on pub . Once a great place not anymore . Dirty outside flagstones need jetwash Just looked tired . Wont go back

Not too bad a place to go to for English food. Big choice on the menu. Service was fine and atmosphere too.

Stopped here for a birthday lunch with my Aunty completely by chance as we missed the turn for where we had planned on going!!

We thought we would try this place again to see if any improvement since last time.
