DoDoMi in Tunbridge Wells

Just finished my takeaway beef rendang with papaya salad. Very good, very authentic I think. The beef was a little tough but, it always is with beef rendang. The flavour was great. The papaya salad was fresh, vibrant and a good zingy balance. Will definitely come here again.

What an incredible restaurant! Every single dish we tried was exceptional and we're a bit gutted that we don't live closer as would definitely go there regularly. Highly recommend for the delicious food and great service!

Came here with my family for a birthday meal, was a lovely evening and experience! The sushi was delightful and came rather quick. The service was great, the tall manageress was so attentive to us and made me have a special night! Definitely recommend to come again!

My partner and I went for Valentine’s Day and it was very busy. Food was tasty and the waitress helping us was really nice and helpful. What killed the vibe was the extremely rude older employee behind the bar. We ordered a sprite and a cocktail that came AFTER we were done eating the main meal. After we had our entrees we asked for some tap water while we were still waiting for the drinks, the waitress was really nice and quick to bring it for us only to be told off by the woman behind the bar, I saw her pointing at the waitress face with her finger. Several tables were waiting for drinks and complained only to be told to keep waiting. I was sitting facing the bar and I could see everything, the waiters offered help many times only to be told no in a really rude manner. I felt very sorry to have to witness this kid of treatment on the waiting staff.

Went here last night with some friends for a birthday. What a hidden gem! I have never been before but the food and service was exceptional! I had the seafood Singapore laksa and it was delicious. Having just come back from travelling across asia, I’m so glad I have found somewhere that serves such good Asian cuisine at such a good price. The service was also great- very friendly and smiley servers. I will definitely come again!

An excellent restaurant offering authentic Japanese cuisine! The sashimi was very fresh, and every dish was absolutely delicious. The owner is very friendly and passionate. We were delighted by his initiative to take photos for us. Will definitely be back for another visit to try other dishes. Highly recommended!

Very relaxing & friendly atmosphere. Just like you at your own home. The manager is very accommodating. Food was yummylicious & very fulfilling. I’m strongly recommending the restaurant regardless of any occasions or even fancy an authentic asian meal by yourself. Go try & feel yourself 😊

I went to Dodomi earlier this evening and my first intakes were phenominal. The lady serving us was so friendly and was really kind will talking to us about my fathers gluten allergie. I noticed that the food was cooked in the kitchen upstairs as there was a food lift. Our waitress told us that all the food was cooked and prepeared as soon as you ordered it. Overal it was a graet experience and i will defenitly be going there again.

Amazing place in the heart of Tunbridge Wells! The sushi boat we had was so impressive and the sparkling sake extremely delicious! We are looking forward to going back to Dodomi very soon!

Outstanding food, as always. I haven't been to Dodomi in a while and it is such a treat. Truly, some of the best sushi ever in Tunbridge Wells. The Volcano Maki was splendid! I shared Dodomi Sushi set with my daughter and it was phenomenal. Sushi was pretty good and also quite affordable. All sushi is made on the go and you can tell by the feel you get when you eat it. This is the best Singapore Laksa we've ever had! The flavor was outstanding and perfectly complemented the dish. Lovely lady served us with a smile. Will come back!

Food were warmed up by Microwave, chicken is very dry, £3 Japanese green tea tasted like water, quite disappointed. Service was all right, friendly.

I recently dined at this restaurant with my family, and unfortunately, our experience was quite disappointing. The service from one of the old staff members was particularly unpleasant. She was rude and rushed us through our meal, insisting that the restaurant closed at 9 PM, despite the Google listing stating it closes at 10 PM. Additionally, the bins were taken out early, which was quite off-putting as we were still eating. This made our dining experience less enjoyable. I hope the management addresses these issues to improve the overall experience for future customers. And why are the plates taken off the table before everyone has finished with their meal?

The food is great - flavoursome and fresh. Only dropped a star as menus, decor etc are jaded and faded and would benefit from a spruce up. Friendly staff.

Bought summer maki, Volcano maki, california maki and a Dodomi sushi set as a takeaway, As per usual i’m always amazed by the quality and the amount of food that is given, This is the best affordable Pan asian restaurant in tunbridge wells i can’t stress this enough!!

Really good food, friendly waiting staff. The chicken satay, ebi tempura, nasi goreng, malaysian chicken curry, and mochi ice cream were amazing, but the food was consistently high quality.

Nice little restaurant/cafe. Great service. It's halal as well. 31 Aug 2024, Beef Rendang tastes amazing, the beef literally falls apart in your mouth and juicy. The salmon curry itself amazing, you can have it just a soup because it's that damn tasty.

Hi, what has happened to all the old managers, im a regular customer and at my last visit a couple of days ago was the worst experience ive ever had. There was an elderly female staff who was so rude, not only did she speak rude to myself but she also spoke rudely to her co staff. I had asked her to speak to the manager which she had then responded to she is the manager, and didn’t seem so confident about. When I explained to her she’s being so rude she was still very cocky and didn’t really care about what I was saying. The last owners always cared about what we as customers had to say about the service or even took the feedback we’ve given and tried to turn it into something positive. This lady honestly isn’t here for her customers it seems she’s only there for the money. The worst managerial service I’ve ever had! Head office really need to find someone else to manage or deal with their customers in a better manner. I would say don’t go to this restaurant again!

Went to dodomi to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. And my son’s favorite restaurant as he loves sushi. Great menu choices, really decent food and at affordable prices. I highly recommend the volcano maki, delish..!☺️

Great service, lovely friendly staff who are efficient. The food was lovely, hot food for mains as we wanted to try out the many dishes and shared some sushi rolls and gyozas for starters, was very yum!

Over £50 spent on 5 dishes. 1x Miso soup, crispy salmon maki, pepper squid, 5 prawn tempura and 4 gyoza - nothing tasted fresh and all such small portions!! Terrible, terrible value for money and overall very unappetising. The crunchy salmon maki tasted chewy and the ‘crunch’ was soft…What a HUGE disappointment. Lazy cooking all round, wouldn’t recommend.

Don’t know where all the amazing reviews have come from. I ordered a delivery from Deliveroo and the pathetic amount of food in the picture is what was delivered for £50!!! The stale sushi roles had evidently been refrigerated too long and so weren’t fresh at all. Overall a complete rip off, wouldn’t recommend.

Really lovely food, beautifully decorated, great menu and excellent service. Came here for my 30th and was not disappointed. They server and chef were both super friendly and added some special little touches such as a free desert and the happy birthday sign, very cute. Would 100% to anyone.

Hi i usually don’t really write reviews but this has kind of left me annoyed, i had came in last week friday ordered a nasi goreng, and a few makis they were really nice but as i was enjoying my food with my partner, i had found that there was a fairly old woman waitress who was very rude to the other waitress, is this really how we treat younger staff!? the younger waitress had looked very upset and uncomfortable afterwards whilst she was stressed with deliveries and giving out orders to other customers ! Do not come here if you have teen children, it is clear that these people treat younger employees like they don’t have rights.

First visit, great food, really great! Will be back for sure.

We visited DoDoMi for the 3rd time, and it was a fantastic experience once again. Service is very kind and fast, and the food is just so delicious. Everything from the appetisers and sushi & sashimi brings you to heaven. I strongly recommend my favourite both Summer maki come with snow crab meat and Cha Cha Rolls with crispy duck maki and We follow with singapore Laksa noodle to try. I would said you must try their Laksa. it was outstanding. The end of the experience the waiter always asks which dish was our favourite? It's very hard to answer, because the sushi & sashimi, the Tempura, the Laksa and the super fresh fish, everything is so GOOD. Cocktails are also lovely, I strongly recommend Lychee Martini to try. DoDoMi will be a regular place for us, they hit the Pan asian food in TW! Best sushi place in town please don’t change! Thank you to the staff for all your hard work & dedication!

Took my daughter this evening. My wagu maki arrived over 20 mins after my daughter had finished her food. We had to ask where it was. No apology and frankly they did seem to care. Just said we’re busy!! Such a shame.

Had dinner at the restaurant for the first time after many take aways. Great food and service and well priced! Best satay I’ve ever had! A small intimate restaurant great to take friends, definitely worth a visit.

Had a lovely evening and well looked after

I went, by myself, rather early on a Tuesday evening at about 6pm. The place was empty, just me, the owner and a waitress. They were both pleasant and friendly and the owner took my order. I ordered the Karage chicken, which is classic Japanese style fried chicken, and vegetable tempura which contains broccoli, sweet potato, courgette, red pepper and green pepper all of which were cooked perfectly and tasted great and was a great companion dish to the chicken which was crisp, flavorful and deliciously savory. It was a lot of food and I wondered if I was going to have room for my main course of eel don, which is a grilled eel in traditional eel sauce served with rice and a side salad. The fish was fantastic: fatty - in a good way - deliciously flavourful and so tender that I could cut it with the chopsticks provided. When I cleared all three dishes I couldn't have eaten another mouthful and I was super satisfied. Including tip and a glass of apple juice it was only a few quid over 35 pounds and for the quality of the cooking and ingredients I was extremely pleased. The only negative of the whole experience was the steady flow of food delivery pick up blokes hanging out a few metres from my table as they awaited their food pick up. I know they have a job to do but I don't love eating my dinner while half a dozen random blokes pace backwards and forwards within six feet of my table making dark mutterings into their phones! It's only a small place so it's inevitable really but can't say it added to the experience. Still, focusing on the positive: excellent food, decent prices and clearly a chef or two who knows what he or she is doing.

Sushi was nice, but I didn't like they put some lemon on salmon nigiri, it should be only the piece of fresh salmon, you cannot taste if it's fresh or not with that lemon juice. The uromakis were ok, good price and nice taste. Satay chicken skewers were bit burnt and dry, we didn't like it. The service was quite kind and helpful. The place was nice and clean, good environment.

Surpassed expectations. Had ebi tempura, Malaysian curry, salmon + tuna nigiri, soft shell crab maki. All were excellent. The service was very good and kind. Can easily see myself returning over and over.

We have just left Dodomi, and have to say that although the food was good enough, we will not visit again. Our bill when given to us was wrong by approximately £40.00 due to three dishes being charged twice. Quite substantial when there were only three of us eating! We pointed this out, and it was corrected, but there was no offer of reduction or removal of the service charge, which may have been appropriate. This was our first visit to Dodomi, and unfortunately will probably be our last. One last observation, is it appropriate for a member of staff to be wearing a sweatshirt emblazoned with the words ‘Anti Social, Social club’ on it when working in the hospitality industry. Maybe some investment in staff uniform would be an idea.

I just had a decent Laksa in Tunbridge Wells. As someone who has lived here a few years, I have been looking forward to this day!

First visit to Dodomi last night did not disappoint. Though we live in TW, I only found out about this place from FB and Instagram about 4 months ago. Great food, clean environment and quick service. I highly recommend the laksa. Great umami flavour with right amount of coconut milk. We also had the deluxe sushi and sashimi set. Very fresh and well presented with plenty of pickled ginger as a palate cleanser. Love it. The udon noodles had perfect texture. Thumbs up! Will definitely visit again. So good to have such a great dining experience locally.

I love this place. The menu has lots to offer so I'll be trying different combinations every time I go. The people who run this restaurant are also lovely and attentive. Give it a go for either delivery or sit in, they smash pan Asian food.

Walked in without a booking, strongly recommend booking in advance as it was very busy! Extremely friendly and patient staff, who managed to find me a seat. Food and drink was prepared very caringly. The blue fin tuna was honestly the best sushi I have ever eaten. I will be back in the area in April and Dodomi will be my first place to visit!

Booked a table for 3 at 7pm on a Friday evening .. we arrived bang on time (we walked the 10mins from our house) to find the restaurant completely full .. we were asked if we can come back in 20mins !! This tallies with previous experiences where dine in customers are neglected so that the just eat/Deliveroo/delivery crew get preference. I have complained about this to them previously and advised them to focus on the people that support their restaurant by dining in .. doesn’t seem to have got through yet .. this all said food is generally pretty good .. especially the sushi .. nasi goreng and Singapore noodles could do with more oomph tho .. and loos although borderline comical could do with an update

Food is Amazing and lovely stuff

A little Gem 💎 This is an unassuming little place on the edge of the town centre. The menu is somehow simple yet plentiful with somthing for everyone. I'm not a huge fish fan but they have some other takes on sushi style dishes as well as some Asian favourites. This would be a great place for a small group to order a selection of dishes and share but similarly they do have more traditional main courses on the menu. The staff were polite and attentive but the food stole the show. The quality, texture and flavours are of a quality I haven't had from a local Asian restaurant before and at a very fair price point! The setting is clean and pleasant but lacks a little authenticity but some.of my favourite places to eat are the most unassuming. Highly recommend.

Just finished a home delivery from DoDoMi. If I could give it 10 stars I would. It’s dangerous to have food this good a few taps of an app away! I had Chicken Gyoza, Vegetable Gyoza, Thai Green Chicken Curry, Egg Fried Rice, Beef Rendang and Singapore Fried Noodle with chicken. Started with the gyoza which was a pretty small portion but absolutely delicious. The mains were crazy good. Chicken curry was full of flavour and spicy. The noodles and rice were perfectly cooked. The beef rendang was the highlight. Omg I’ve no idea what that was but it was sensational. Definitely one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time.

The best sushi in Tunbridge Wells - taking the crown from Kitsu. Dodomi also has super friendly staff, a very pleasant and relaxed atmosphere and bright, airy interior. Big fan! We always order their biggest sushi set and slowly working our way through the other dishes. Would highly recommend for all including vegans! If you're not a fan of sushi they have a wider Pan Asian menu with lots of options!

I am struggling to believe that the staff gets 100% of the tips at this restaurant. I have asked the server who seems to be the owner/ manager and she answered yes but the staff didn't react. The whole situation was bizarre and as I am working in hospitality myself, my assumption is the owner gets it. No info on the web site or the menu , also the staff rotating there quite a lot makes me believe people are not properly looked after. Good overall food to be fair. Service lacking humph but that is not a problem. I will not be returning to be fair.

My partner and I found DoDoMi by chance whilst visiting Tunbridge Registry Office. We had just given notice of marriage and were looking to celebrate with a wee bite. Immediately upon entering; we were welcomed with a smile and seated. The gentleman serving us was cheerful, attentive and genuinely friendly. We ordered a couple of starters; spicy edamame & chicken gyoza. For mains, I had the Beef Rendang, my partner went for the Singapore chicken noodles, although, We wound up sharing as we both had food envy. Both dishes were flavourful, fragrant and generously portioned. We left full and satisfied. Overall, it was a fantastic meal to celebrate our little occasion and the total bill was less than the Registry office fee. It's a little bit of a trek for us to get to, but 10/10 we will be returning.

Excellent food from DoDoMi. I wished they were closer to where we live in London 😂. Great selection of Japanese and Malaysian dishes. Laksa and volcano roll were on point. Really fresh sushi and drinks were tasty too. Enjoyed the ice lemon tea. Service was fast. Restaurant was a little on the small side but should be ok given the location.
