We had a family funeral/wake on 6th June. It was beautifully set up for us, and the staff couldn't do enough for us. Special mention for Lynn, who was great all evening. Lovely buffet at a very reasonable price. I would recommend Doctor Gormans very highly. Thanks, you made a sad day, that little bit better.

Terrible food & Service We advised at the start we didn't have much time with this agreed we ordered starters and fish & chips. It took 35 minutes to get the started again explaining not much time. Again stopped someone to ask, 40 minutes later our fish came. Wrong chips as asked for, fish was flavourless and just awful. Went up and paid the bill making sure we didnt wait any longer.

Visited today , girl serving at first was great but service very very very slow waited around 20 minutes for table to be cleared and kids ice creams - actually had to ask to order them - no one offered us more drinks and my partner ended up having to go to the bar to get some. Table was cleared eventually only 4 plates were cleared, leaving plates and glasses. Staff clearly walking past while seeing our table was full, had to go through and ask for the bill as no member of staff was to be seen. Macaroni was tasteless as was the steak pie, lasagna was average aawell as the fish saving grace was the butterfly chicken. All in all a big disappointment 😞

The portion sizes were perfect too. The only criticism was that the nachos were pretty bland. The service was great, staff were very attentive. There was a slight delay when waiting for our starter but it was pretty busy. The decor was night and bright and welcoming. Overall, I would highly recommend this place.

My man and me revisited yesterday 19/08/2020 since Covid started. Went for dinner at 5 o'clock with a table booking. Had the chilli beef nacho sharer and then the chicken enchiladas/fajitas. Portions were great as usual and we couldn't finish it to be honest and it was as tasty as before. Was as good as ever! As the "Eat out to Help out" was on it was only £13 for the sharing starter and 2 mains. As we had alcoholic drinks these were not included in the bill and paid separately. As usual great service and great craic. Only have one criticism, were all the customers using track and trace system? If they were not then did you follow up by getting their details on paper? I know that older folk arent always able to use the technology or that some folk just cant be bothered to log their details for this. This is reason for 4 out of 5 instead of 5 out of 5.

Im so gutted & extremely disappointed in writing this review. We grew up going to Dr Gormans/33 Queen Street even before that, when it was the Viking. When it was BOGOF on meals we were down often as a family. Would say the food used to be above average but even before the refurb the food started to go downhill, but because it was BOGOF you never complained. The place was crying out for a refurb & the menu needed a shake up. Closed for refurb. So on reopening it was always going to be a tough one for them. A new menu, no more bogof, price increase, so expecting better quality, good portions & tasty food.Went for dinner with family & the restaurant is much brighter but it doesn't feel like a restaurant, more a coffee shop or cafe. Don't really get the farm animal pictures on the wall either.Food: A family member asked if food was freshly made which we were told it was. So I had asked if I could get the risotto, without butternut squash, the server asked the chef if this was possible but got told no. Why??Starters. Cullen skink was dreadful looking & was far too salty.Chicken strips were dry.Cauliflower beignets needed salt & weren't worth the money (3 pieces for £3.95)Black pudding, bacon & egg salad was ok. Was the same price as cauliflower but much more substantial. Mains: Steaks were cooked well & pretty enjoyable. The satay & the lamb kebabs were terrible looking too. In the satay, the chicken was hard & completely overcooked as was the rice. The lamb kebabs were dry, again the rice was mush & cold but it wasn't served as it states on menu either.DessertsChoc fudge cake was the size of a kids portion. So overpriced for the size. The walnut cake was 3x the size. Sticky toffee pudding had choc sauce drizzled on it, which we thought was strange. We then thought maybe it was teething troubles so we went in another day & gave the lunch menu a go. Unfortunately, it was pretty much more of the same. Tried the beef chilli empanada & it was vile. Overcooked & microwaved. Macaroni was bitter & again over cooked & served with skinny fries (save them for McDs). I won't be going back to Dr Gormans/33 Queen street for food in a hurry which is such a shame. We as a family genuinely don't mind paying a lot for a meal but the quality has to be good & unfortunately it's not here. The quality in the food hasn't got any better from the bogof days & I think the dishes have got worse, mostly being over cooked. If your going to change things it has to be for the better. So sorry guys but it's not working for me.

So this is our first visit since the place has had a refurbishment having been here countless times over a number of years this place has badly needed brightened up for quite some time. We had actually stopped going as our last 4/5 visits the food had been extremely poor since changing chefs. So firstly the refurbishment itself I don't really understand the look they are going for feels like a country coffee shop, the place i felt was strangely cold feeling think it was the white tiles and the ice blue colours. Not sure why there are pictures of cows, rabbits , dog cushions all seemed a little bizarre to me. However is still a lot better than the sad interior previousI don't think this place really has an idea of what its identity is now. i.e. when i called to book the table the phone is answered 33 queen street ok fair enough nice to see them trying something different. When you walk through the door you see Dr. gormans on the windows. When you get handed a menu it says 33 queen street at the top. Then tells you about Dr gormans favourites , using doctor gormans Facebook page?? On paying the bill it also reads Doctor gormans at the top of it ?? Ok so onto the food. I understood that there would be a lot of negativity regarding the change of menu from the 241 offer that doctor gormans had as their usp for years, So to make it completely clear i am not bothered about the price increases however i do expect to have good food and that is the only thing that bothers me. Now the menu itself is not great & doesn't look as though there has been much thought put into the dishes a lot of the menu descriptions are also written as though they are trying to be slightly fancier fair enough !! however the proof will be in the food quality. Before ordering i also asked what food was actually cooked fresh & was told all of it. I had cullen skink to start the Cullen looked a little strange in colour when it arrived not the light creamy appearance you would expect but a darker brown colour. This was by far the worst cullen skink i have tasted was just pure salt no other flavour. No butter recieved with soup roll despite the fact knife & spoon were set for it. I never managed to finish my soup ( a rare occurrence for me to leave anything) All the thoughts around the table were unfortunately the same & almost everyone had major flaws in starters they received. The black pudding salad no dressing on lettuce fit for the bin. Chicken strips had clearly been pre cooked as they were really tough. The Cauliflower beignet was tasty although the portion size was extremely meagre 3 small bits of cauliflower. So here was hoping better things to come for the main. ordered the steak rare it arrived and was more medium to a rare steak. Still i didn't want to cause a fuss and continued to eat it. Skinny chips with a steak ?? actually the only chips offered through the entire menu were skinny fries . Fish & skinny fries ?? The onion rings had far to much batter on them & was like eating scraps from a fryer. The rest of the party one of them had the lamb Kofta that had been recommended by one of the servers. The description given on the menu was completely different to what was on the plate. No flatbread but instead a tortilla cut into quarters. No cumin seed salad. Two small bits of lamb I actually thought it was a kids portion. completely overcooked non coriander rice & some sweet chilli chucked through some yoghurt. was pretty abysmal. The Chicken satay that i used to go here for all the time although says its the same is now miles away form were it used to be with previous chef. The sauce has no flavour and yet again the pre cooked chicken had been used. We had to ask for dessert menus all the desserts are the same as it was when it was doctor Gormans apart from the sweet of the day coffee & walnut cake in this instance. I ordered the chocolate fudge cake with ice cream. When it arrived i was so disappointed in the size of it. was so small the scoop of ice cream was almost double the size of the actual cake. Was like a chocolate cake you would get from a cheap buffet fridge. I also think there is little or no staff training as when asking anything regarding the menu they are pretty clueless through no fault of their own i have to say as the staff do serve with a smile and are efficient. Such a shame that the restaurant has put a lot of effort into making the place look better & have better drink products behind the bar now too. Unfortunately the food awful & in no way is it all cooked fresh as server stated

A friend had posted a link for their Valentine's menu-like and share for a free meal- on Facebook and as we couldn't get in to our local favourite restaurant at the last minute (who says romance is dead) we booked the day before for a Valentine's meal. We were greeted promptly and at the table ordered drinks and food. The starters were very good-tomato soup (not Heinz, as I predicted) and cauliflower beignets, which were lovely. Main courses were also good, and potions were reasonable. My husband's sirloin alone would have cost upwards of £15 elsewhere, served as it was with onions, mushrooms, chips and pepper sauce. Deserts were ice cream and for me apple and cranberry crumble, with ice cream rather than custard which was no problem. Total bill was under £40.Surroundings were clean, modern and bright. Staff were pleasant and well informed about the menu. Drinks were also very reasonably priced with a large Merlot at £3.95. We had a thoroughly acceptable and pleasant evening and will definitely go back.

Been here lots of times as the food was good and always had a 241 deal on the meals. After the refurbishment the 241 deal has gone and the menu has changed, so some of the usual dishes are gone, portion size got a hell of a lot smaller. The quality of the food is ok but for the price you now pay I think there are better places to go to. So for that reason I don't think we would return here again. A shame as it was good the way it was. Why fix something that isn't broke

Very happy to have discovered this little gem of a pub/restaurant while visiting family in Rutherglen recently. They offer a varied menu, catering for most tastes at any time of day. During our lunchtime visit, we chose sausage, mash and onion gravy, scampi & chips and chicken in satay sauce - all very good. OK, so its not going to win Michelin stars, but everything was hot, tasty and hit the spot and far better than a lot of high street pub food currently being offered. Diners at nearby tables were zealously tucking into steak pies and sizzling fajitas, all of which looked delicious. A bottle of Chardonnay to accompany our meal was nicely chilled and very reasonably priced. Most dishes, starters and mains, are offered on a meal offer (buy one get one free) which meant our final bill was a very pleasant surprise. Waitress service was friendly and accommodating and we look forward to our return visit.

Visited recently with large family group. This is a fairly basic lounge diner behind Main St in Rutherglen. The service was good and staff friendly. The starter portions were very basic with smallest portions I have ever seen. I had chicken chunks and got 6 of the smallest pieces of chicken you could get. No salad garnish or anything.Other starters were no better. Most were happy with main courses apart from fried haddock which appeared to have been a frozen effort unless there are now triangular fish swimming about. Far too much batter. If visiting again I would stick to a main course and not waste money on a starter.

Enjoy visiting on my luncg break from work - bar service is great with pleasant staff. Food selection is second to none and with great value "deals" on offer from their 2 for 1 main courses etc. This bar food establishment is hands down the best in the area and beats the other local establishments where food appears to be pre-made.Would definiately recommend a trip to this hidden gem!

Don't let the exterior put you off, once your in the place it looks as nice as any restaurant. I am new to the area and was told about this little gem,we called on a busy Friday evening and was surprised that you have to book,as it was they had a table free, and I now know why it's best to book as most of the meals are buy one get one free, and excellent value for money, I had gammon and my friend had chicken, considering the price of the meal we were pleasantly surprised on the size of the portions, lovely meal and excellent surroundings and staff were very attentive, well worth a visit when in Rutherglen.

I have been eating in Dr Gorman's for a few years now. Always great service. Absolutely fantastic menu, offering 2 for the price of 1 on a wide range of food, seven days a week. Staff are always very pleasant and helpful to all customers. Children are welcome which is good for the local area. If after you have eaten and the kids have gone you can enjoy the rest of the night when Dr Gorman's turns into a pub with buzz, offering DJ Ray's disco on a Friday, and Karaoke or live bands on Saturday evenings. Middle of the week there are open mic sessions and a quiz night. All in all a great day/night for food and entertainment.

This bar has never let us down, if you are looking for good food without paying too much then I would recommend Dr Gorman's to anyone. I would however book as it is not always possible to get a table at the last minute.

We have visited this establishment on several occasions with a variety of family members of various ages and it has never failed us. The menu is quite extensive and very competitively priced. Having to find somewhere that can satisfy the picky eating habits of children & teenagers can be quite difficult, but this place fits the bill!

3 ladies went for a meal and the 2 for 1 deal makes your dining such good value for money. The food was delicious, the portions ideal and all 3 were impressed.

I have eaten here on a number of occasions. The food is in my opinion the best in Rutherglen. Price wise it is very attractive as starters and main are buy one get one free. The place itself is in need of a total refurbishment. Try and avoid the toilets as the men’s does not have hot water or any hand dryer and the paper towel holder is usually empty. I am informed the same applys to the ladies. The biggest problem it has is the heating or should I say the lack off. The heating is provided by portable gas heaters (even in this day and age) and if you are lucky one may be positioned close to you, went in once to find they had run out of gas, turned on my heels and went elsewhere. So if you are looking for good food, on a warm day and don’t need the toilet I would recommend to eat here.

Been here half a dozen times now for food and is very consistent. Usually attracted for a quick bite to eat on their 2 for 1 offer. You only pay for the most expensive on many items on the menu. The menu is quite extensive and will have something for all tastes. On this visit I had the butterfly chicken breast & peppercorn sauce. My wife had the chicken satay with rice. Both were absolutely delicious and the chicken was so moist. The bill for this, 1 diet Bru and a small white wine was only £13. The staff are always friendly and attentive in this place. You sometime have to reserve a table on Saturday afternoons. I only marked it down as the toilets were disgusting. Will be back here in future for this amazing offer and amazing pub grub!

My partner and I eat in here at least once per week. The food is the best pub grub that you will ever taste, everything on the menu is home made [just like your mum made]. The staff are friendly and attentive and nothing is a bother to them. The place could do with a lick of paint but not really that fussed about that. I would highly recommend that you try this place out, I can promise that you will go back.I forgot to say that most of the food is on a two for one deal

Brilliant prices and food of a better quality than most. Consistently of a high standard and staff are attentive but not intrusive despite being very busy as a norm. Tucked away but pretty well known in the locale with most people I know regarding it as the place to eat of choice for the area of Rutherglen.

We nipped into Dr Gormans for Sunday Lunch. The food and menu were of good quality and the service was good. He restaurant was cold and draughty and the main course could have been warmer but otherwise good.

A traditional pub, but very tastefully decorated in a modern style. They offer an excellent varaiety of food, which is served every day from noon till 8:00pm. The food is very tasty and reasonably priced. A speciality of the house is "Steak Ecosse" A sirloin steak served on a bed of haggis topped with a creamy Scotch whisky sauce, served with mushrooms and chips (fries). A real piece of Scotland. The staff is very friendly and attentative staff. They have music some evenings, and just now an "open mic" every Wednesday night. It's a good place to be.

Travelling back from Kinning Park with my eldest son, I decided to stop off here for a bite to eat as I needed to pick up a few things anyway. Overall, it was some good scran. Aside from the food, I also thought it was brilliantly priced (Kids eating for just £1), the staff were decent and the cleanliness of the seating area was on point. In comparison to the Morrison’s café in Anniesland, which has plummeted in quality over the last four months, it really was night and day in comparison. I opted for the Sweet Chilli Chicken Panini (lovely) and a Cappuccino (unfortunately the machine only poured 2/3 of a mug). The wee man had Pancakes, Crisps and a Fruit Shoot (unfinished but he seemed happy enough with it). I was impressed with the choice on offer - it certainly exceeded what I’d expect from a Supermarket café. Being a fan of Rangers, I’ll most likely be in the area again very soon and would happily head back to Asda.

I am attending at course at the Clyde College and this wee cafe happens to be nearby - it's very convenient for lunch when I have classes the whole day. I had lunch in a couple of occasions so far, I tried their soup and jacket potato. The prices are affordable, the food is good and the staff are super friendly.

I visited The Lauder in Sauchihsll Street in October 2919 when it reopened after the fire that destroyed the buildings next to it we were served beautifully cooked and very tasty food. I have visited Glasgow twice since then last week ( end of February 20w9) being the most recent and it is now my choice of place to eat. The staff are great easpecially one young lady called Lynn who has been the ultimate in custoner service. Even remembering me from previous visits and ensuring that I get a table and great service. I will be back as not only is the foid well cooked and presebted it is great value for money .
