D.James Fish and Chips in Spelthorne

We just had delicious hot fish and chips from James Fish and Chips. I was a bit worried due to some of the negative reviews, but everything was perfect. Loads of chips, light batter on the cod, tasty gerkins. Lovely!

The quality has dropped since my last visit. It could have been an off day, But it seems to be trying to move from good quality to low cost.

Hey people, please be aware of paying by card at this Chip Shop, I have just spoken with my bank regarding fraudulent transactions made on my card, I visited here on Tuesday 24th October 2023 at 20.53pm, order Battered Sausage and Chips to take away at the cost of £5.10, I know this is a small amount but it's the priceaple. That was my purchase, The chips weren't quite cooked so we're still quite raw so I took them back in and spoke to them and said these are quite raw I can't eat these and they really cook some new ones and gave me them. End of until I saw my bank statement on my app and noticed that they took a lot of payment the next night at 9:37 p.m. the 25th of October. After speaking to my bank there was also three other payments attempts made this was the morning of the 25th of October at 7:36 a.m. The morning of the 25th October had 9:36 a.m. the afternoon of the 25th at 1:36 p.m. and finally took the payment from my account after funds cleared at 2137 p.m. so they've actually taken two payments off me and been trying all day long now our bank said it's very unusual for chip shops to keep your car details or to do recurring payments as this is what's happening he said it's very rare that chip shops would use the recurring payments this is for people like Amazon for your subscription your Spotify your Dropbox or whatever you have that is when reoccurring payments come into force but they are actually keeping my details and actually taking the money or attempting to take the money out my account luckily I had limited funds in there but obviously my other money was in my savings account and only transferred it over when I need it otherwise they would have taken this five times. If I had had money in my account they probably would have taken the other three payments making it five payments. Thank god my money was in my saving acct and I transfer it as needed. So guys I don't know how many times you use this chip shop but please check your bank details ok I'm not I can't stress this enough I've reported this to my bank Barclays bank as fraud because that is what it is as my bank said they should not be keeping your card details someone has actually physically tried taking these payments I'm disgusted I won't be using them again and I urge you guys to check your accounts if you do use them or pay by cash don't give your card over to them because someone is taking your details and taking further payments which they shouldn't be doing I don't have chips every night of the week I certainly don't eat chips to 2 days and 4 times in one day it's just I just can't do it I have a pancreas disorder which means I can't break down fat, so eating this amount of chips is not possible for me. I have chips every now and again so me having chips nearly every day is virtually zero once in a blue moon probably. I've also been reporting this to action for today as if they're doing it to me how many other people have they done this to I know one thing my bank of told me if they've done this to me in the past and I've noticed it this will be flagged up on pastimes I've used them which isn't very many because obviously I can't eat that amount of chips... Please guys check your bank accounts after using them and if you're paying by card avoid it pay by cash, I can't stress that enough this is fraud. They shouldn't be doing it they shouldn't be keeping your car details at least. Lucky my bank sent me a new card today, so Barclays have now cancelled my old card to stop them taking any further reoccurring payments or even trying to take any more money off me and I'm looking to get some of that money back the second payment they took off me, because that is fraud. I didn't go in there and I didn't authorise it, so it is fraud please check your accounts, like I say, pay by cash that's a safer way. I would not be using them again I don't trust them and I think it's disgusting that they've tried doing this to me... just be careful guys it's open my eyes to shopping in person now and spending money by card.

People are nice there but the chips taste gritty like bits of sand between your teeth...but everything else ok

Fancied a fish and chip lunch as a treat . Wish I hadn’t bothered .Fish was tasteless and watery. Complete waste of money. Won’t be back

Ordered delivery via just eat. Part of order was missing their only review on just eat was by someone who complained their delivery had items missing that should of set off the alarm bells but I thought I would give them a chanceI phoned the shop to complain and I got through to someone who practically told me I was lying that I never got my correct order. He then passed the phone over to someone who must use English as a, 3rd or 4th language because apart from "hello" I never understood a word he saidAnother person then told me they'd cook our missing items but I had to come and get it.... They charge £3 delivery then ask me to go and get it. I think notIn short DON'T USE this fish n chip shop

Service is absolutely appalling, frozen fish, bring back a proper English owned fish shop, cos they couldn't run a bath let alone a fish shop, count your change

Ordered haddock and chips and it was delicious. Haddock batter was super crispy. Chips were decent but I’ve had better.

Biggest and best quality fish and chips in the area always freshly cooked and served hot and so tasty. Would recommend, love they are served in bags.

Extremely friendly welcome. Good variety on menu. Prices were not usual London rip off. Huge portion of hot fresh fishcake and chips for under £4

I like the way when you order your told it will be about 5 mins for the fish to cook. Service is always quick and with a smile, its changed hands a few times and now its at its best.

We always call last minute with a group of us and nothing is any trouble Fantastic food from a great guy! Thank you!

Just love this fish and chip shop. Been there for ages, go there every time I visit family in England.

Here at sunbury on Thames with our best friends again. D JAMES Fish shop is their favourite local for fish and chips. We all had a fish each but shared 2 portions of chips and that's plenty. Our southern friends hate mushy peas so we northerners shared a big pot of peas . Quality food. The queue outside tells you how popular this take away is. Hot and tasty. The best in Sunbury.

Visited the premises on a Friday evening while staying overnight at a local hotel. We had two haddock & regular chips which was more than enough for two. Service was friendly and the premises were clean and judging by queue its a very popular take away. We will visit again when in the area

Hit and miss with the quality some days it’s amazing but you can’t guarantee needs to be a consistency with the cooking and portions some times one large chips can feed four others 2 large will be needed.
