Dish and Spoon in Manchester

It was mid-afternoon by the time I visited, so several products had sold out. However, I still got a nice slice of almond and raspberry loaf.

Visited recently for the first time since moving out of Didsbury in lockdown and was disappointed to discover this is now just a takeaway hatch rather than a proper cafe. The window display, of course, was lovely and the cakes are still fab - simple classics, twists on old favourites, clearly made from top quality ingredients. Grazing in the cafe with a nice pot of tea (rather than a paper cup) was always a nice way to while away half an hour or so with friends ...and I'd always get a second pot. As nice as Burton Road is, it's not always convenient to take cake home or find a nearby bench/wall to sit on ...particularly at this time of year (I'm writing this review in December). Some places would offer a discount for take out. Whilst Dish & Spoon has not dropped it prices, we couldn't complain about one of the slices we bought: a triple layer creation that would rival some of Manchester's many new skyscrapers for size. So, three stars. Would have been 4 or 5 if we could still sit inside.

Como un poco devorador de pasteles local, definitivamente calificaría el plato y la cuchara como el mejor pastel en Burton Road. No soy vegano, y en general soy más una chica de chocolate con leche, pero realmente recomendaría la galleta vegana porque es realmente buena. El personal también es realmente encantador, una chica en particular con una especie de meñique, el cabello gris es súper agradable y relajado. En general, realmente agradable ambiente relajado y buena y creativa selección de pasteles.

Visité este café para tomar café y bollos, pero los bollos fueron realmente decepcionantes, ya que eran muy pálidos y tenían una base empapada. El personal era agradable pero lamentablemente faltaba su atención al detalle aquí No recomendaría este lugar

We had afternoon tea to celebrate my 30th birthday. The scones and cake were delicious and the homemade jam was a lovely touch. The downside to this were the chairs which were very uncomfortable, steal and straight up at the back made me feel very uncomfortable and I left with a painful back. Afternoon tea is something you want to savour and take your time but the furniture didn’t allow this. A simple change could really improve this experience

Quality coffee and great cakes. Mrs C and I had the flat white, beautifully strong and flavoursome... The scones were fresher than a fresh thing that is really fresh, with jam and cream. Mrs C had the banana loaf. Staff lovely and friendly. The place is a little on the snug side, but well worth a visit.

This was my second visit for afternoon tea for my mums birthday and I still love this place. Staff are always friendly and welcoming and the food I love ! yet again I was unable to finish my two cakes which I brought home to enjoy this place is a must visit ! My favourite cake has to be the red velvet cupcake a firm favourite of mine for years.

A superb coffee sat outside on a sunny afternoon. Lovely fresh Portuguese cakes made the visit@ Well worth a visit. Not much room inside but if you get a seat cherish it!

We come here very often and definitely once every weekend for a coffee and pasteis de Nata. Since I have discovered this place more than a year ago, I have gone here for all cake desires and definitely all birthday cakes. I love this place and I highly recommend and the dish ran away from the spoon.

Booked for afternoon tea. Great selection, freshly made sandwiches, a savoury, tasty scones with choice of jams, chocolate coated strawberry and a delicious cake selection! So much choice on the day, and nice to have with a coffee instead of tea too! Very reasonable, especially for what you get, and top friendly service too! Well recommend for a casual afternoon tea - and one of the best I've had!

I've had afternoon tea at various places around Manchester, including some of the "best" restaurants and hotels - but I can honestly say this has been the greatest. You're given a choice of cakes and sandwiches, which is already an improvement over the generic selection usually offered, but the quality of the scones, the homemade jams, the pastries and clotted cream is without equal. I came for my birthday, and one of the cakes I chose was brought out with a candle in, which was a nice and unexpected touch. Friendly and attentive service, delicious food and great value. Been before and would definitely come again.
