Dionysus in Enfield

Anyone in North London who likes Cypriot food knows Dionysus. It has all the classics you would expect and does them well. The only downside is there isn’t much seating so don’t assume you will be able to sit down. So I tend to get take away. Overall though if you like Cypriot food it’s worth making the pilgrimage here.

Called in for a chicken kebab at teatime. Regular size plenty for me. Deliciously flavoured grilled chicken and fresh salad filling. Tahini dip as side (home-made) was best ever. Clean takeaway, good service and busy staff. Recommend.

I havent been there for long time but I thought today I give it a go again. I ordered a 3x pieces lamb soulva and paid £17.20 ( with chips). I took it home and I discovered that the 3x pieces of lamb were in fact 3x large bones. I understand that some pieces maybe less meaty but this was a joke. I ended up with 3x pieces of the spine/neck bones and I didnt even get 100 gram of meat out of them. I find this behaviour very ignorant and arrogant towards customers. Why would a restaurant treat his customers like dogs. I paid for Souvla , not bones. Its the first time I leave a negative comment on Trip advisor but I felt very strong about it. I am not suggesting that you stop buying from them but if you end up with 3x large bones don's be surprised . Maybe if you got a dog , you can give them to your dog.

I am an American who first visited the original Dionysus on Tottenham Court Road back in 1984. When my wife and I have returned to London over the years since, we followed Dionysus to Oxford Street, were saddened when it was gutted by fire, but delighted when it re-opened. Dionysus's doner kebabs were a treasured part of our London visits. Then one year we arrived to find the building had been torn down to make way for the new Underground station. I kept checking and one day was excited to see that Dionysus had re-opened in Southgate. We made the trek to the new location, which is essentially a take-away storefront with a tiny seating area and a couple tables outside. Although the menu listed "gyros" (not doner kebabs!), NONE WERE AVAILABLE. We inquired further as to whether we had just come at a bad time, but were told that they were no longer offered. We ended up having a decent lunch (with very fresh ingredients, although the pita broke apart quickly and I had to eat my sandwich's contents with a fork) -- but we were very disappointed that the doner kebab -- Dionysus' lifeblood over the years -- was not available. In sum, the sign on the storefront brought back great memories, but the new location did not live up to those memories.

Delicious food, all freshly made! A regular fixture now. Freshly cooked almost homemade taste! Flavoursome, but be prepared for plenty of garlic!

I have been going to Dionysus for over 20 years from when they were on Tottenham Court Road. So glad they have are now in Southgate. Quality food at a very reasonable price. Highly recommend!

Love the food at this place. I go for either the calamari, fish or the chicken. They have started doing doner also. They make all their own Mezes fresh (taramasalata is my fave). Great service, fresh food, owner is passionate about the restaurant. Family owned business and they take a lot of care and pride in it (and rightly so!). There are always cars parked along the streets at night with people rushing here to pick up takeaways or to eat here. It’s a shame more of them don’t leave reviews as is one of the most popular Greek kebab places in the area!

We regularly make an 80 mile round trip for kebabs , and it’s worth the drive !! Even more so that they have now removed the lettuce from the salad 😂 The girl that answers the phone is very polite and extremely efficient!! The sheftalia are possibly the best I have had outside Cyprus!!

We have been taking away food from here since the beginning when the restaurant was called Vassilis. The staff are wonderful.....food is very nice and delicious, all but the amount of SALT they pour over the food. Each time we buy the SOUVLA be it chicken or lamb we have the same problem. ...we will ask in future if it would be possible not to put too much salt on our order, we normally spend over one hundred pounds each time we order when we have dinner parties, we do not live local and make extra effort to go there.

Ordered through Ubereats, did not receive all of my order. Not happy at all. Uber refunded my money but the food was for a vegetarian and they weren’t able to eat because of the lack of food.

Got a large chicken shish and shared it with my Mum. Delicious. Well cooked tender chicken .Very fresh pita and salad.Service was good too.Smiley pretty lady. Thank you....Good memories from disco nights in the West End.

The BEST chicken and halloumi kebabs. There’s a reason the waiting time on Saturdays is always way over an hour!! I would 100% recommend to anyone and everyone

Being Greek Cypriot, I can honestly say that this is the most authentic Cypriot food you are going to find in London. The sheftalies and the pork kebab are my usual orders and I definitely recommend them, although I’ve heard good things about all of their food. The prices aren’t overly high either which makes the quality worth the cost.

For the value it’s spot We go here a couple of times a year from all over the Home Counties and it’s worth the trip Stav always so welcoming and the food is great It’s a kebab shop with tables but the best one I have ever been to I just love it Enjoy

We love it! It's our favourite take away place and it never disappoints! Always fresh and perfectly cooked! Hands down 10/10!
