Dings in Highland

There’s Chinese and then there’s Chinese. I will tell you straight. This is the later. The combination of this establishment and a couple down the mallard are what I like to refer to as the ‘perfect evening’. 10/10 would would visit again.

Absolute fantastic. The best Chinese I’ve had in Scotland I can’t thank the owners enough. When I first heard about dings i wasn’t expecting to much but they delivered 100%. This was top tier food and I wish them all the best, try this place you won’t be disappointed

Wow! What can I say. This was incredible. We had come from Birmingham for a holiday in Inverness and ended up in Dingwall for the football. We went to Dings after and the food was delightful. Customer service was on point and the food was even better! Highly recommend.

Do not by food from this establishment; we were on holiday and purchased takeaway for two and had to throw the entire contents into the dustbin. I have in the past had food that could have been better; however, none of this food was salvageable; even the fried rice could not be tolerated, god only knows how this was prepared. Disgraceful!

My husband and I visited Dings Friday 27th January 2023. We are staying in Dingwall and wanted a Chinese so looked at the good reviews. We were not disappointed. We called in the day just to have a look at the menu as we were walking past but already had table booked. We weee made to feel so welcome and even let us choose our table for the evening. The food was absolutely delicious even though we ordered too much for the two of us. They even offered to box it up for us but as we were staying in a hotel we didn’t. The lady who served us was an absolute Gem, so attentive, friendly and could not do enough for us . I highly recommend Dings for stunningly cooked food and the service is 5 star. Thank you Dings you are amazing

Bought half a dozen dishes. All very basic and mostly onions or green pepper in sauce. Very bitter and unpleasant. Not worth it.

Went for a meal with the wife the youg gentleman was friendly and very efficient had a nice meal the only thing I found strange was it was cheaper to by a malt whisky than to by a basic whisky all in all really good well done young man

Visited the restaurant and was a tad worried after some reviews but from the beginning the waitress was so lovely and funny. Instantly got the night off to a good start! The food was lovely too, lots of sauce and all the food was piping hot! The chicken curry was a bit floury and too thick but that was our only quarm! Would recommend if you’re in the area!

Superb food, beautifully presented, waitress chatty and obliging. Very reasonable. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hidden gem. Thank you so much - we had a great evening. We will be back 😍

Stayed on the C&CC campsite for three nights, and had three take-out meals delivered. They were superb - freshly cooked, and hot on arrival. We had Chinese and British food, both equally good. The only down side was the size of the portions - they were enormous!! Next time we're at the campsite, it'll be one meal between two.

Should have zero option. Chips refried greasy and cold ribs so dry as overcooked meat in curry not cooked disgusting

Like most places, quiet. Place is dated. We ordered simple,, requested a side salad and although the ingredients were available we were informed ,, quote, chef wont do it. I'm amazed when things are so quiet and customers few, we were refused. Wasted the experience. Toilets also below par and I left no tip and wont return. Went the next night to cafe India. What a welcome contrast. Great evening. Also quiet but food, service and toilets much better.

My partner and I have had a couple of chinese's from here - they have always been amazing! Egg fried rice is the best, and my partner highly recommends their sweet chilli chicken!

I have to admit I am pretty obsessed with this place-the food is sooo tasty-it is some of the best Chinese food I have ever tried.

Passing through Dingwall and stopped for takeaway. The staff were very nice and the shop looked very clean, all covid protocols in place. Curry sauce was very bland and really lacking flavour. Fried rice was a bit greasy and chips fairly average. Really quite disappointed

Fabulous authentic Thai food at reasonable prices friendly staff, would highly recommend and will be back!

BBQ spare ribs, mini spring roll, chilli Beef and Lemon chicken, large portions enough leftovers for lunch the next day, free prawn crackers, all delivered in a timely manner!! Very hot tasty food delivered with a smile.

Easily the best, most consistent place to get Chinese food from in Dingwall. Food is yummy and good value, no scrimping out on sauce here. Plus the owner is the sweetest person!

I had to phone and enquire if they were doing home deliveries during Covid-19 lockdown, and they are. Great!I ordered my usuals of won ton soup, Singapore chow mein, and beef in black bean sauce. I had to use the menu to read the numbers of the items as the phone handler didn't understand my English, which is fair enough because this is Scotland, not England. My accent is very much English not Scottish, and certainly not Chinese.Delivery was quick, and the driver was friendly. There's no option to pay by card, so it's cash-only, but that's normal for takeaway deliveries. We don't have Deliveroo or Just Eat where I live.The food was delicious, the stock in the soup just right, and well seasoned. The dishes were well seasoned, with not a hint of MSG - which I'm intolerant to, so that was good. Singapore chow mein could be a little spicier, but I still enjoyed it, there were lots of bits of egg and meat in it. The noodles were perfect, and the beef was tender and well cooked.The only tiny grumble was that the dumplings in the soup were ever so slightly underdone and chewy, but I still ate them anyway. The filling of the dumplings could've done with a little bit more seasoning, but I'm glad no MSG was used anywhere and I'd forgotten to mention my intolerance to it.There was a huge bag of free prawn crackers, which were quite nice but nothing special. They were good and crispy.All in all, I'm definitely using them over and over, they're miles better than other local Chinese takeaways in and around Dingwall.

Dings offers an extensive menu to include a Thai influence. Simply lovely food on this visit which was freshly cooked and offered great value for money with huge positions. Very tasty indeed! Really pleasant and helpful staff.

Haven’t been to dings for ages but I’m glad to see it’s still excellent !! Portion sizes are huge and still very good value for money .if you want nice food nice staff and value for money eat here it’s excellent

Quality takeaway. Always nice and fresh and always stays warm when you take it home! Spring Rolls are always a must!

A lovely meal in Dings , we are a large family with various dietary needs - it was not a problem for them, the food was delicious and the staff were attentive - will definitely return

Absolutely delicious take-outs. Best in Scotland : ) Huge portions and love the fact the meals are served in metal containers because they keep the food piping hot! I tried the chicken in a yellow bean sauce and it was divine. The special Schezuan sauce was spicy and full of prawns. See you again in October.

We went following terrific reviews on Tripadvisor, and although the meal was very good, it just wasn't as good as the reviews suggested. It was also very expensive, with everything being double the carry out menu. Would carry out, but not eat in again

Always pay Dings a visit when we stay in Muir of Ord. Fabulous food and friendly service. Great value for money : ) See you in October.

Food was good and the portions are generous! We had to ask for a doggy bag as we couldn't finish all of our lunch.

Been going to dings for a number of years. Food and service are always excellent. Lilly is a fantastic host and looks after us every time.

After a cold and wet day out visiting Inverness we were hungry and cold. Looking for a restaurant in Dingwall we found this Chinese at the top of the high street. We were welcomed with such lovely smiles! The restaurant is very clean and the menu had an extensive choice. The food was freshly cooked and arrived nice and hot. Everything tasted amazing! The staff were very attentive, polite and nothing was too much trouble.EXCELLENT thank you we will return on our next visit

We visited Dings on Sunday early evening and it was quiet but we were offered a chioice of menu's we chose the two course for around £13pp, the very cheery waitress (possibly owner) gave us a great welcome and put a large plate of prawn crackers in front of us before we even ordered, we both had chicken sweetcorn soup and it was full of chicken and very tasty, then we had sweet and sour again plentiful, so much that we couldn't finish it all, definitely worth a visit if you are in the area

Every October we visit the Black Isle and it’s a Dings we look forwarded to the most. Great-sized portions, excellent value for money and they always cater to my fussy needs. Who goes into a Chinese and doesn’t like onions? We will pay them another visit before we go home : )

We were looking for somewhere in Dingwall to eat out, somewhere with gluten free options and couldn't find anywhere. Went to Dings restaurant and explained my dietary needs and the staff couldn't be more helpful. The waitress went through the menu with me then had the chef make a lovely gluten free dish that was delicious and I knew my needs had been taken seriously. The food was very reasonable, the service was excellent and we will certainly return when back in Dingwall again.

We had had a bad experience at the Indian further down the village (Cafe India) so decided to give Dings a try. We were so pleased that we did.My husband has a wheat intolerance and the waiter immediately contacted the lady in charge who came over to sort out what he could eat safely. Unfortunately he couldn't have the sauce but he had excellent roast duck.I am vegetarian and there was a very good choice of vegetarian dishes. I had the spicy vegetable noodles and what a huge portion. As we couldn't finish our meals we asked if we could take the rest home. So we had a second chance to enjoy the food.We go to Dingwall fairly often so we will certainly be back.Many thanks

Went to Dings tonight for the first time in years. Had Szechuan Beef and Special Kung Po. Totally faultless. All of the tables were being waited on by the young female licensee who was lovely to deal with and really professional. Will visit again. Thank you.

My family and I love eating at chinese restaurants anywhere we travel and this is by far the best.

Amazing place, we go here every time we visit Inverness or surrounding areas. This visit we gave the takeaway a try and it was up to the usual Dings standard. The food here is awesome, don’t hesitate to try the restaurant or the takeaway you won’t be disappointed!

Been here a few times for a takeaway food is good would recommend the special curry. Staff are friendly.

This place is one of best Chinese I’ve been too. Food is excellent and not greasy like most chinese takeaways up here. We tend to sit in when going here and find that the food is well priced and excellent portions. The last time we went the service so tad slower than normal however we were in no rush so wasn’t a problem, when the food did come it was spot on.

We had a carry out a few months before we went for a sit down meal and wow what a delight it was, the Satay was the best i have in the UK. The service was first class and wee could not fault this gem of a restaurant.

Enjoying a short stay in nearby Tulloch Castle, my partner and I thought we'd treat ourselves to a Chinese takeaway after a long, stressful day of driving. Ding's very prompt with our order, and everything was ready in good time. Unfortunately, I found out back at the hotel that the takeout order was wrong. We were given honey chicken wings instead of honey ribs and imagine our surprise when our special fried rice came slathered in gloopy beef gravy. Long story short, we phoned Ding's and they explained the 'special' in their special fried rice WAS gravy. Thankfully, they agreed to deliver a gravy-free fried rice - and the ribs we should have received - directly to our hotel. They let us keep the other food we'd been given by mistake at no extra charge. The chicken was actually very tasty, ironically proving better than the ribs anyway. The rice was only okay, but I am grateful to the restaurant staff for how readily they made right an honest mistake with no quibble.

Pleasant restaurant with helpful gentleman who looks to be the main staff. Limited menu selection, particularly on the range of vegetables. But the food we received was perfectly acceptable and had a good taste. Nothing special, but fine for an evening meal.

Having previously tried another Chinese takeaway in Dingwall and finding it horrible, inedible, and gave me a bad stomach, I thought I'd try Dinga.

Arrived in Dingwall not knowing where to eat found this restaurant up a side street. As she as we entered staff were very friendly and obliging quickly shown to a table. Arrive before 6 noticed the early bird menu lots of choice in all 3 courses. The food arrived piping hot and very tasty everything was delicious and excellent value for money would recommend spring rolls best I've tasted and the chicken Siam

Struggled to find somewhere well reviewed in Dingwall. This place had mixed ereviews but can only strongly disagree with the bad ones - a malevolent competitor??

Popped in for lunch on Friday. We were the only ones in! Bad sign right away, but went ahead with the set lunch. Hubby and I both had the spare ribs which were really nice and tasty. However the main course came. I had spice chicken with egg fried rice, and hubby had chicken in black been sauce (szechuan) with chips. The waiter who served both dishes at the one time, couldn't tell which one was which when they arrived at the table! However we could work out by the sauce which was which. The chicken was not fresh, it looked like frozen chicken or processed, and the chips were of the frozen variety as well. The egg fried rice was just awful and I hoped it hadn't been re-heated from the night before. I left most of mine and being the coward I am, I hid the chicken under the rice on my plate and said it was really too much for me.

Don’t eat here! It’s some of the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had! The spring rolls and vegetable rolls looked exactly the same and were huge in size. They were only stuffed with bean sprouts. We were given soy sauce to eat them with, not duck sauce. The food was overly sauced and placed over candles to keep them warm which was ridiculous (this did not keep it warm).

A group of 10 of us arrived at this restaurant on a Tuesday night to find that for the duration we were their only customers. I didn't even note any takeaway customers. This is surprising. The restaurant doesn't look all that from the outside, but inside it is well kept and looks the part, sharing many features common amongst Chinese restaurants. We went in unannounced and the girl who served us (the only member of staff we saw the whole time) sorted a big table for us and took our orders. The food arrived nicely presented and was of a good quality, and the main courses were generous portions, especially the rice in its large pots for sharing. The waitress managed to smash a couple of pints as she was taking them across, but cleared everything up and replaced them in a flash.

Me & my dad ate indoors here, it was a Fab restaurant and we were treated so well with great food & hospitality . And the hostess/manageress was fantastic! Not a single complaint. Def a must sit in to enjoy.. 😊

We ate here last week and really enjoyed it. The restaurant is pleasant, a good place to meet with friends. We ordered 4 meals and shared them - they were each brought out and placed on a warming rack. I had the Sizzling Chicken - they wheeled it out and placed the prepared chicken on a very hot plate and it did indeed Sizzle! Staff were very helpful, patient and friendly. We will definitely go back.

We dined at Dings as a party of seven. Service was good and everyone enjoyed their meal. The menu has typical Chinese dishes along with Thai specialities.

Mostly decent food, visit every few weeks but now suddenly now charging 50p to pay by card. Can understand for a £5 or small transaction but this was on a near £30 order. In this day & age people don't use cash......... poor policy decision. Will think twice about using so much in future.

After the most recent of several visits over the last couple of years I thought I should finally get around to putting up a review. Always lovely food, with good portion sizes; very friendly, efficient staff; really good value on the early bird menu; and just a generally lovely place to eat out right on our doorstep. Top quality, will continue to return again and again.

We visit Inverness every October and Dings never lets us down. Huge portions and delicious fresh food. Love that the food is in metal dishes and not the plastic ones 👍🏻 my favourite is the beef curry and my other half loves the chicken schezuan.

Bought some BBQ spare ribs, Beef Curry and Sweet & Sour Chicken. The curry sauce was literally made from bisto...

We come here often with family and friends and we enjoy it every time, the food is lovely, portion sizes are very generous and the staff really are the nicest people you could meet.

this carry out is the best Chinese in Dingwall. Quick, efficient, freshly cooked and reasonable prices with good portion size. Highly recomended.

We pop into Dings every year when we pass through Dingwall and it just gets better and better. Dim Sum was lovely and my salt and pepper ribs were gorgeous. Mains were lovely with my husband struggling to get through the chow mein. The food is always good from here, but the difference this time was the service - the waiter was exceptional - friendly and attentive without overdoing it. He knew his menu and even convinced us to have Calypso Coffees - haven't had one of them for years!

In a bit of a rush my sister and I were lookingfor somewhere quick to eat afte waiting nearly 30 minutes for service in a nearby establishment we left and found this place. Food was excellent and staff were pleasent. I had the honey chicken wings and my sister had the chicken noodle soup and we shared a half crispy aromatic duck. No complaints really tasty. Will definitly be returning.

Poor atmosphere on arrival no music and initially empty restaurant. Served flat coke from a plastic bottle paying £7.60 for 4 glasses. Starter quite nice, bbq and peeking spear ribs. The rest of the meal was awful. Served cold on arrival,meat fatty and chewy,sauce gloupy, as though heated up. Never heard of beef and beansprouts without onions so it just ended up being beef, a heap of beansprouts, some sauce and a weird combination of cucumber around the side. High chair in terrible condition,cheap plastic and very dirty/stained and cracked. This is our second visit, unfortunately we won't be back. Waitress very nice and very attentive serving on her own.

I have eaten in some really classy and top drawer Chinese restaurants, the Singapore chowmein here, was the best I've ever had. My son didn't like his meal, nothing wrong with it, just that he hadn't had it before and it want to his taste, the staff offered to replace his meal with something else, we declined as he eat half of mine, which was fine as there was plenty. Will come again if in the area

Stopped in Inverness for a meal at the Brewer's Fayre at Raigmore after a day out and were cold and too tired to think about cooking a meal when we got home but found the restaurant crowded, hot and the atmosphere was rather oppressive (too much chip shop fat) so pushed on home. Decided to 'sit in' at Dings rather than buy our usual carry-out.Restaurant was fairly busy, service prompt.Menu was different to the large take-away menu but there was a good range of dishes. Soup was hot and tasty. Mains were well cooked and flavoursome.Highly recommended.

A mid range Chinese takeaway. There is also a sit in restaurant, with both Chinese cuisine and also a fair selection of European food.Saves a need to travel to Inverness. Being local, it can be easily reached by car, and the food is still hot when you get back home.Good service both over phone, and also by staff in the sit down restaurant.

Had a lovely evening meal served by very friendly staff. Menu was large and comrehensive. Service was efficient and food was well prepared and presented. Price was very reasonable and I shall certainly eat here again when I am next in the area.

For the start we we warmly greeted and shown straight to our table. The waitress took our drinks order straight away and returned with them and the menus. Within a few minutes prawn crackers arrived. We were left to choose from what was a comprehensive menu. The starter was cracking as was the main and plates were plentiful. We had an ice cream sweet which was delicious. Would totally recommend this restaurant to anyone and if you are going to eat out in Dingwall this is the place.

Lily, the restaurant owner is a terrific host and the Dings team serve up a selection of Chinese delights! So tasty!

Great food service quick great choice on menu can also do deliveries which my son who lives there said is quite quick.

Went in for lunch and the food and service was fantastic. Portion sizes were extremely generous and the prawn crackers the best I have ever had. Excellent value for money and will certainly be back.

Great food in this restaurant. All four of us had different dishes and each one was delicious. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Will definitely recommend to friends and family.

We ate the three courses for £12.50. for that price we expected tiny portions. We were very surprised at the size they were excellent, plus free prawn crackers. I was really full, great service too. Will definitely be back soon.

Went to Dings one night for dinner.The food was very good and you got plenty to eat they did not scrimp on the portion size either.Had the spare ribs for starter and they were very good as I do like them spicy.Had chicken chow mein with Char sui pork but would only get chicken the next time as the pork did overpower the chicken but that was my choice.couldn't fault the quality of the food though or the amount given (had to have a doggy bag)I would go there again

We really enjoyed a takeaway from here on a recent holiday. The Peking duck was fantastic and best we have had. The mixed starters were tasty although BBQ ribs a bit bland. The mains were well portioned and sweet and sour chicken, satay chicken and shredded beef were fab, the lemon chicken was tasty but a little bland. Really enjoyed our meal here so much so we're having one again tonight to finish off our holiday.

This is the only authentic sit in Chinese & Thai restaurants in the Inverness/Ross-Shire area and is well worth a visit even if you haver to travel to it. The staff are very warm & welcoming making your visit feel appreciated. The food is freshly cooked and tastes are outstanding especially the Thai options which I took!

Visited Dings on a recent visit to Inverness, on entering was met by a very charming happy young lady. Only two other tables occupied at the time, around 7 on a quiet Tuesday evening. Ordered salt and pepper chicken wings to start and a main course of chilli beef with egg fried rice. The food was very tasty, chicken wings are one of my favourites and these were scrumptious. Excellent food and excellent service. Would definitely recommend and return myself when in the area.

There is an early bird menu served till 7pm which is excellent value. We had Peking spare ribs, salt and pepper wings followed by sweet and sour chicken Cantonese style and deep fried shredded beef in chilli sauce. Served with egg fried rice. £10.50 each. Highly recommend.

Visited Dings last week with my wife and had a lovely meal from their early bird menu (available from 4pm to 7pm). We were warmly welcomed by Lilly and the service was very attentive throughout.I had the salt and chilli pepper chicken wings, sweet and sour chicken Cantonese style and banana fritters with syrup and my wife had the chicken and sweet corn soup and chicken curry. The food was delicious, portions generous and tasted as nice as any Chinese meal I've had in a long time and including drinks we spent less than £30 so value for money was excellent.

Dings is under new management and has a new menu. We have always liked eating at this restaurant, which offers a straightforward selection of well cooked Chinese food. And with the new arrangements, we enjoyed it even more. The food is good, the service very friendly. We had the crisp duck and then a selection of main courses with rice and noodles. The "sizzling" dishes were prepared at the table and were particularly good.
