Food was amazing!Oxtail fell off the bone,rice n peas to die for..The coconut prawns👌.Will be coming back,would definitely recommend..

I'm in shock. You took the best part of 15 pounds for that pathetic portion of pepper steak. Wow, jus wow. Never again. Sweet potato wedges are nice but still disappointed

Maravillosa comida, ambiente realmente encantador. El personal es amable, profesional y muy servicial. Recomendaría al 100%, tenía alitas de pollo para empezar que eran tan jugosas y sabrosas, luego estofado de pollo integral con arroz y guisantes para mi principal, estaba realmente lleno de sabor y una porción generosa no había manera de comer pudín. Devon House Jamaican Restaurant, 10 out of 10 for the service ee received and for the food. It was the first time I went to the Restaurant, all the staff were friendly and very attentive. I went with my friends, they too enjoyed their food and service with a smile. The food was delivered in a timely manner, we received. I had side orders of sweet potatoes and colesaw, along with rice and peas, salad, salmon with a lovely sauce, the food was 😋, I also had a big glass of ginger beer, for my pudding I had apple crumble and ice cream, this too was delicious 😋. We were all full after eating our lunch. I would recommend trying the food at Devon House Jamaican Restaurant, I will certainly be going there again.

What an amazing night. Went for my uncles Birthday. Food was amazing. Nicely presented. All staff were friendly warming. We had the last slice of Rum cake wow was not able to take a slice home. Salt fish fritters my mother would be proud. My starters and main oh gosh . Fritters had plenty pepper like it should my curry lacked scotch bonnent which i dud say and waa given vhopped pieces to add but really needed to be added to the pot for a richer flavour but i can also understand why chef did so as not everyone wants pepper but chef curry mutton musy have some scotch bonnet 8n its cooking. Basically i have recommended to many to visit they have been since and have spread the word amongst others. Oh you must try the Devon House cocktail now thats the real deal. Loved every mouthful of my meal and drinks. Mocktails are good too. To be honest everyone should hear and visit Devon House. I would travel the distance dor a takeaway also i know it would be worth it. The only let down was the 2 toilets. Was not able to flush properly or was not working. My opinion this was the area that let them down big time. Thank you all for a wonderful night my uncle will remember his birthday song🤣🤣🍾

Visited Devon House for the first time. I opted for salmon with rice and peas, fried dumplings and coleslaw, followed by apple crumble & custard for dessert. The food was delicious and good portion sizes. Friendly staff.

Visited on a Sunday lunch time with my partner, the food was lovely however the waitress got my order wrong, I asked for jerk chicken but got the stew chicken. I was in a rush so really didn’t have time to send it back and wait for the correct dish, also not big on food waste. Honestly it was still amazing so no complaints there. Reasonably priced too although the table was very wobbly. Overall, it’s a cute little restaurant and good food.

Enjoyed a delicious meal on an afternoon out with friends. The food and service was top class. Clive the owner and Shanade the server were very welcoming and accommodating. Wonderful atmosphere.. I will definitely be eating here again and again..

I’m prompted to leave this as iv seen the news today & quite frankly was annoyed that people use bad reviews as a threat which essentially could cause serious harm to a business ! So …… I’ve eaten here a few times but never left a review!! I should have because myself & my partner love Jamaican food & this place does it so well . The service is excellent & very welcoming.

Had a hectic day and just wanted comfort food. Excellent service & the staff welcomed me as noticed I was alone. Food exceptional definitely SOUL food I had the amazing chicken rice. Did not take pictures but wish I had Thank you ☺️

Lovely staff lovely food!! We were a party of 25 celebrating two big birthdays. Sarina and her staff were friendly and accommodating even though we were a bit noisy. The jerk prawns and sea bass starters were delicious and the the food came out in good time considering the size of our party and other diners there. The reggae music added to the atmosphere. In hindsight I wouldn’t book such a big table as restaurant and kitchen are quite small but they coped well. An overall great experience!

The quality of the food was not of a high standard to what I usually get here. The chicken that was barbecue with sauce was too hard and the brownstew chicken was dry on the outside and tasted like it nearly caught.

Lo visité con mi pareja para celebrar mi cumpleaños. Reservar fue muy fácil y la respuesta fue rápida, lo que nos permitió planificar bien nuestro día. Excelente servicio de la joven, nos sentimos muy bienvenidos! Ambiente era genial para nuestra noche con música instrumental de fondo. La comida es 100% auténtica jamaiquina y sabe muy bien! Esta fue mi segunda visita y la comida terminó mi cumpleaños muy bien. El propietario se preocupa por sus clientes y nos hizo sentir más bienvenidos. Recomiendo probar los lados que se encuentran al final de su menú con su comida, no se pierda los deliciosos entrantes, la selección de bebidas fue buena y recomiendo el cóctel de ponche de frutas. Sin duda volveré a visitar en, buen ambiente para traer a toda la familia y lugar perfecto para una buena noche de citas.

Because my first visit was amazing and I couldn’t fault it, I decided to revisit. However, the expectation second time round fell short. The service on a whole was not good. After the waitress took the orders the menu’s were left on the table, empty glasses were also left on the table for the duration of the meal. When I received my starter 2 hours later it was cold, I also had to wait around 45 minutes to receive drinks. Nunca he estado aquí antes, cuando llegó la fiesta sorpresa estaba muy bien organizada y las mesas estaban muy bien dispuestas con globos glaseados🎉🎊🎈🎈🎈 La comida tipo buffet fue sin embargo un poco decepcionante, ya que era muy limitado para el precio que todos pagamos por adelantado por persona. Lo que figuraba en el menú no se servía, se quedaba sin comida muy rápido, las albóndigas eran para morirse, la carne bien sazonada con una patada pero nada de lo que escribir a casa🤷‍♀️ Gracias a Dios tuvimos un exquisito pastel de be'day excepcional para todos devorar de postre🎂🥰 Las bebidas, sin embargo, eran deliciosas, especialmente los cócteles que eran muy agradables y no demasiado dulces como algunos🍹🍹🍹 y muy decente precio! We arrived at 7:45. I got our food at 9:33. We booked for six and they was not ready for us. We really wanted to have Caribbean food as it was a special moments for our father. By the time we got our food, we was so hungry it spoilt the whole night, the food was okay, but I guess we didn’t even notice because we were so hungry and my dad is diabetic. I need to have a better system of how the food is prepared and not to keep people waiting

2nd time in 5 years and nothing seems to have improved. We booked this for my fathers 65th birthday as we did for his 60th and the service seems to have fallen to new depths of disgraceful. Only surpassed by what appears to be management behind the bar. Who was intentionally rude during this ordeal. It started when we advised that 7 people were unable to make the evening. And want to give 2 tables back to the restaurant. Where the female manager with the Bob decide to make some type of irritated response. Whilst turning her back to us and muttering under her breathe. An hour later after our food orders had been placed. We asked politely. "If they could ask in the kitchen, how much longer the food would be"? I was greeted with an attitude and as the food came out follow by a shrugging of her shoulders as to why I had bothered to come over and mention the wait. Now if the place was extremely busy I may have had more empathy, but we were the only people in there so they had no other customers to cater too. Anyone who was there when we had arrive, had left. What makes the situation even more upsetting was that when the jerk wings came out burnt and we asked for them to be replaced. They said its supposed to look like that. As if we didn't know what jerk wings are supposed to look like.They initially refused and said there was nothing they could do. We just asked that they substitute the burnt ones. They sent the young member of staff to give our family the kitchens response. So my sister, whose daughter's food this was sent the food back and cancelled her families order. The rest of the families with children continued to wait. I actually enjoyed my food when it arrived, but everyone else's was mediocre at best. There was no apology from the manager. We had to call the chef out to explain why everything was so bad. He said he was under staffed. Again, there was only us in the restaurant. The booking was for 20 but 7 family members couldn't make it in the end. 13 people. There where 3 chefs in the kitchen and 3 servers and one rather horrible bar manager. Who, if they value their business, should be kept away from customers all together. It is worth mentioning the chef did come out apologise after we sent for him. Especially as ackee and salt fish was ordered but came with no salt fish and no explanation. And the platter didn't come completely described in the menu. We've had better southern fried chicken at KFC Me and my family will never go here again.

Una experiencia agradable inesperada. Devon House se ha añadido a mi lista de lugares para disfrutar de nuevo.

Second time to visit this place and just as the first time the food was excellent and consistent in taste, would highly recommend, the staff and especially the owner were very friendly and welcoming.

Was a random find as was staying at an apartment near by. Small place but lovely and staff are welcoming. Range of drinks and cocktails/ mocktails available Food looked and tasted beautiful. A couple of big bookings in, so our table of 2 sort of got forgotten about. After a while we went up to bar to pay our bill as our table still hadn't been cleared.

Nice food, but very slow service. Overall waiter was nice and friendly.

Arrived at 9.05pm, three members of staff behind the bar, appearing not to be doing much, it took 25 minutes for someone to come and take our order, it then took another 30 minutes for the four drinks we ordered to arrive and our food didnt reach the table until 10.25pm - I ate at Devons House a few years back and had a similar experience back then, its a shame to see there has been no improvement on their customer service. When we asked how long food would be, we were told by the waitress "I dont know, wont be more than 30 minutes" There was an incident where an ambulance was called for an elderly lady and there was no sense of emergency by any of the staff to help with this. There was two other people we could hear complaining when paying their bill regarding the wait time. I appreciate a busy place may run behind but the way this place is ran front of house is terrible. The staff needs better training. The food was nothing mind blowing and was definitely not worth the wait, the Jerk chicken was dry as anything. When the Bill came and we were asked how the food was I stated the chicken was dry and there was no acknowledgement despite three quarters of the food being left on the plate. There is also no wheelchair access to the restaurant. I cant say I would be in a rush to return, the irony of that statement as nothing seems to be rushed at Devons House. Its only scraped a two star because the brown stew chicken was apparently very nice. I wouldnt recommend this place for the money, time and lack of service its just an overall poor experience.

They made numerous errors with the drinks orders and took an eternity to bring them to the table. The food was nice but not worth the 2 and a half hour wait to get it. The staff and the manager had zero customer service skills. When negotiating the bill we were told the reason for the poor service was because there was a large table of 20. A large table is not a reason for poor service as this is something the restraint should have prepared for as they would have made a booking. Overall, the customer service is dreadful which really ruins the experience. I will definitely not recommend or be attending again.

There was 3 persons on the night of visit yet the food took ages to arrive. On the menu is flavoured rice, yet when ordered informed they do not do it. Update the menu before we place order for the item no longer available. Toilet hand drier not working and toilet too close to sink, hard to sit down because of this.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from Devon House as I hadn’t had it recommended by many people. However I was pleasantly surprised, my dining experience here was fantastic, my highlights were the curried mutton with rice and peas, mac and cheese and saltfish fritters. If you’re a fan of Caribbean food please try this place! I couldn’t stop talking about how amazing the food was after finishing and will definitely back here for the curried mutton!

Been a couple of times but was a bit disappointed with the oxtail. Not as succulent and falling off the bone as previously. Coleslaw was on point but the service was slow today.

The place needed a good clean to be honest. Floor was dirty and covered in bits. Chair covers all ripped. Service was slow even though we were the only ones in there. The waitress was friendly though. Starter of jerk wings was almost inedible. Dry and jelly texture no crisp not much flavour. Main was ok. Salmon was nice rest of it was literally just about ok and it took ages to arrive. Won’t be going back.

Very dissapointing service, long wait for service and for food once ordered, mine came out wrong, sorting bill also took a long time. Came at 4.30, quiet period. Cool reception from management and staff. As we sat tables were pushed around for a larger booking that arrived later, with staff who showed us a table walking around or past us. We were told we wouldn't need extra salad as there was some included, this was a teaspoon size of lettuce flakes, fine for garnish or starter but miscommunicated. Didn't get the drink we requested after the meal. Expensive menu, inexperienced young staff. Equally as cool when we left.

Was hoping it had improved, just us in the restaurant and we still waited beyond our time. Did you know that you only get 2 bbq wings as a pose to 3 jerk wings (which are priced exactly the same). The jerk wings were seasoned well, but all wings were only warm (after such a long wait). Long gaps in service, no one greeted us upon entry or even to seat us, so we just picked our own seats. It was disappointing. On a positive note...the salt fish fritters were nice!

Was wandering around the Jewellery quarter and pondering if we should get a bite to eat or not and noticed Devonhouse. It was quiet but we were there early so had the pick of what table we would like (opted for the window to watch the world go by). We hadn't had any type of Caribbean food for nearly 22 years (as we got engaged on a trip to Barbados) so it was a bit of a novelty for us. The menu looked good and rather than go with something familiar(ish) I opted for the Ackee & Saltfish with a side of rice and peas whereas my wife went for the vegatarian special, a side of Plantain plus rice and peas. As i've never had Ackee & Saltfish before I didn't know what to expect but oh my god it was amazing, I honestly could have gone for another portion just because of the taste but alas it was rather filling and I didn't want to be a greedy pig (but it was tempting). We were pushed for time as we had only parked for an 2 hours but the food came out pretty quickly and as you can see through to the kitchen it's nice to see the chefs at work. Got to mention the lady serving as well, she was lovely and smiley and from what I can gather used to cook in the kitchen as well before going FOH. If we are back in the area again I would definitely go again. I noticed that one of the other reviews stated that it wasn't Authentic Jamaican food and to be honest I wouldn't know if it was or wasn't but I can certainly say it was GOOD FOOD.

Celebrated our daughters birthday. Staff were lovely, very attentive. Cocktails were delicious....the punch was deadly! Food was amazing....chicken curry...curry mutton....fried chicken... Fish.....and all the trimmings. Reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend a visit.

This is not authentic Jamaican food. The food was turtle bay like. Avoid at all costs. Jerk wings tasted like stale fried chicken wings smoothed with a load of jerk sauce! No desserts. Bring back the old chef because this is not good.

Had the pleasure of having lunch with the family here on Sunday, food was spot on, a good effort was made with all our meals, curry mutton 110%, service was nice and friendly, our first time of visiting but not the last, well done guys and thank you for a lovely lunch…

Incredible Jamaican food. The dumplings were nothing short of perfection. Roland(I believe that was his name), my server was a complete gent and such a nice, friendly guy! Lovely staff and welcoming staff, very smart and clean establishment. This place is incredible! 10/10

Ended up going to collect from the restaurant as it was taking so long to find a driver.

My first time here and I heard mixed reviews but decided to go and took my mum with family friends and their mum for Mothers Day. When we arrived we were informed that our booking was not on the list although the deposit had been paid. This was quickly resolved and we were seated. It took a little while before we were approached to order our drinks and food. We were served our drinks and it went downhill from there. Absolute chaos ensued with long waits for food orders and customers who had pre-booked tables waiting over an hour for their tables. It was a 90 min wait before we were eventually served and some of our ordered starters came with the main meal The host didn't offer any apology as to the waiting times or explain why there was such a delay in the kitchen. Thankfully there were no diabetic elders in our group and when the food did arrive it was tasty. Unfortunately my dish was further delayed as I ordered the steam snapper and they bought me steamed seabass. The white rice accompanying it was not thoroughly cooked and it was hard. My mum starter of soup was also missed off our order. I am not sure how often this venue hosts significant events but the service today was abysmal and extremely disappointing and unfortunately Devon House has not made a lasting impression.

Mediocre Jam restaurant. Welcome was none exsistent, had to seat ourselves and wait to see if anyone came over. It appeared that a small group had booked half the restaurant for a buffet style function but there only seemed to be two staff members running the restaurant. Waitress had the typical “wah yuh wa” facial expression, not abrupt but not friendly. Food was a pass. (just about). I know this isn't the food the chef/s cook at home. This is the watered down, lack lustre version to turn a profit, like so mainly other restaurants out there. Nothing massively wrong to make the food inedible but nothing that would make me go back again. Half the stuff on the menu not available, ackee was sub par, punch tasted like a carton of sunrise tropical juice and no desserts available! One Positive: Restaurant frontage looks nice, they’ve tried to get that stately Kingston Devon house feel - unfortunately nothing inside matches up. 4/10.

Very disappointed tbh! After waiting a very long time for the food it was standard nothing really special about it!. We felt like we were just sat there waiting for ages as the staff were tending to a bigger party. The staff needs to be more tentative to their customer. If food is going to be long let them know, ask them how the food is etc. Nothing special here really. This is just my honest review .

Arrived at 7pm for a surprise birthday but the previous party booking were all still at the tables,once they exited due to the time some members from our party felt the need to help clear the tables as guests were already waiting around....eventually we got our own drinks from the bar and then about 7.30 the food orders were taken,the young lad who took our orders was very pleasant,The food come out slow,We watched everyone else eat every so often a few shouts towards our table that our food was being plated up by other servers were made..it was 9.30 when our food arrived,needless to say the children should of at least been prioritised first,but it was made clear that a decision had been made that the main head table was served first then everyone else after,I had the jerk prawns didn't think it was proper jerk seasoning just added at the end my fritter was burnt everyone just ate what they had because they were hungry it seemed so it was better then nothing, nobody asked if we needed anything else or was it ok...the fastest thing to arrive to the table was the bill very prompt with that one. Disappointed for sure.

This was our first visit here for a family birthday meal. A lovely and cosy ambience with soft background music. Food was tasty and well presented and we was greeted and waited on with courtesy and respect. The only reason that I did not rate 5 stars was the lengthy period that we had to wait for a meals to come out….. something that I feel that you must try and work on! A definite must try!

Delicious authentic food friendly polite people and a wonderful setting too definitely classy joint would eat in next time bit too pricey because it is in jewellery quarter so as a local I know the rent is premium so all and all great place great food

Great food, very flavoursome as expected when you're getting authentic Jamaican cuisine. It was Thursday evening and it wasn't crazy busy at all, the starters were banging and the main course was mwah! You can order to taste and id suggest doing that if you prefer spicy food. The restaurant has to cater for all clients. The Guinness punch was nice, a small portion but good enough. All in all a good experience. Local parking after 6 is free.

Disappointed in the quality of the food doesn’t taste the same as when you eat in the restaurant. The plaintain was inedible due to being really hard. The Mac cheese tasted sweet rather than spicy. The mutton was boney and dry. Sorry I’m a regular and never complained before.

We indulged in a satisfactory evening. Although we didn't have a reservation, we were seated comfortably and attended to promptly. The staff were all very well mannered and welcoming. The menu was all you could want and more. The food was delicious 😋🤤, well prepared and well presented. The music 🎵🎶 set the vibes and joy. We will be warranting Devon House with many more visits and we hope they continue to prosper. From a very happy pair of customers 😁

Definitely over priced fried chicken portion £9+ for one leg and one small thigh… no fried chicken coating used either (not sure why)?! I also ordered 2 portions of festivals and got what tasted fresh but bland dumplings. £15 for a small portion of mutton is also extortionate.. definitely will not return

Tastes just like home, cannot go wrong in my opinion highly recommended

No curry mutton or chicken.Really!! Weren’t told until we were ready to order. Had the ackee and salt fish, they need to make sure fine bones are taken out. Plantain was tough underipe. Slow service.

Friday 24th November It’s not the first time that we are going to Devon House has a big group we have had the same nasty waitress! getting a attitude with us when we’re asking her. Why is the food taking so long and we were waiting over an hour! The last time we came, it was my nephew’s birthday and we had the same nasty, nasty waitress, and we ignored her behaviour towards us! but we’re not ignoring it this time! Had a meal 29.10.23. Food was good. Howevrr when needed the tiolet the experience wasn't good. No Tiolet paper iand hand dryer doesn't work. When reported it to young assistant not sure whether the information was passed on. Later an older person wanted the tiolet. They said they didn't have no tiolet paper and went in the kitchen to get kitchen roll. No apologies. Also tiolet too low.

The stew chicken was literally awful but we didn’t want to be rude. It was tasteless, dry, tough and I would not recommend it. We had a few drinks off the menu and the rum punch was amazing. Would I go back again, highly unlikely unfortunately

Unfortunately, the food was simply not up to par!! We ordered the, 'Fillet of Sea Bass' and was given, something that looked and tasted like, pond life!! This cost us, £8.00 for nothing at all, and something that was honestly inedible. Furthermore, when my partner attempted to pay, he was overcharged, by £6.00 and was given the poor excuse about different prices online!!! He was told to leave his number and he will be refunded (we will patiently wait for that, but not hold our breath). We paid nearly, £50 for x 2 Oxtail dinners, that were bones and gravy only...... Seriously people, remember that we work very hard and when you are spending x amount, investing in small businesses, the quality of food should not be in question!!!!! Do better, Devon House and please provide some pricing training or something for the staff, because they have no idea, how much the food they are serving actually costs!!!! Advice to customers: check and confirm the prices!!!!!!!

Not my first time visiting. But on this occasion the food was just OK. Last time I've visited food was amazing..Service was a bit slow and it wasn't that busy.

I booked my wife's 40th birthday meal at Devon House and everything went perfectly. Booking for a large party was quick and easy, the food was on time and very delicious. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and went above and beyond to make sure we were all well taken care of. My wife was very happy and so was everyone who was there. Highly recommend.

Absolutely amazing food and friendly Staff. This restaurant offers true authentic flavoursome Jamaican food . The management staff are visible and very pleasant. Like wise the waiting staff work exceptionally hard with a smile on their face . Thank you to the young lad ( he was very professional ) . Sade was pleasant too. My friend and I went to Devon House mid September for a catch up. It was rather empty during the afternoon, which was nice for us. We had a chance to chat with the staff and they were really pleasant. The food was lovely, not too heavy on seasoning, it was just a perfect balance. There were no starters or desserts on the menu, but we were able to use the sides as a starter. We did end up having sweet potato pudding (which was yum) as a desert as the owner brought that in separately to the restaurant - I think we were there on a lucky day. Overall I would definitely go again for during the lunch time.

Food came hot and the portions were generous. Really loved the steamed vegetables

Second time in two weeks, something is missing in the order, when we phone, the front desk staff said is because they are busy and have no drivers. What an excuse!! if it happens twice in two weeks, then everything is wrong with the restaurant.

Visited shortly after opening and didn't have some of the basic items available. Service poor nearly 15 minutes for 3 glasses of water and we were the only customers. Need to do better

I should have told the chef no breast as I am not a fan of breast Flavors were nice but couldn't eat the chicken Fritters were amazing
