Ate here for the first time today…had beef roast and I have to say it was delicious. It’s the best roast I’ve had in Plymouth. Reasonable price too. Will be back 😊

Had Sunday lunch today and really good - excellent service and lovely environment. Will almost certainly be back to try more. Highly recommend. Very reasonable when you add in the drinks we had.

Had a very nice experience last night. It's a little unusual in that it feels like an Italian restaurant on the menu even if it doesn't look particularly Italian. Mostly pasta, pizza and seafood dishes. I had the rigatoni which was lovely. Melted buffalo cheese on it. My father had the seafood risotto with loads of mussels. I felt the prices were reasonable and the service friendly. The atmosphere was exposed brickwork and nice lighting. Wasn't fully packed in there but the staff did not rush us or anyone else. 👍🏻

Had a lovely meal here this evening! Fast and friendly service, and really tasty food. The short rib was lovely and tender, and the rigatoni cob buffalo was rich and flavoursome, looking forward to visiting again!

Lovely place! Food was delicious, menu has lots of unique ideas and the whole atmosphere was really good (as well as the decor which always makes a difference to me!) To add to this the staff were really lovely aswell! Will definitely be back - thank you

When we went it was really quiet and it's such a shame this place deserves more recognition. The staff was polite and friendly. The food was delicious and at a good price. To but it simply this is a place I would go again and would recomend.

Tried Desire for the first time today and really pleased we did. Food was very tasty and excellent value. I had the Roast Beef as did my wife and we both felt it was the nicest we've had at a restaurant in a very long time. Service was good and staff very friendly. Couldn't fault it at all and we'll definitely be back.

Myself and my partner went for dinner tonight. We were served by the lovely Cam who was more than happy to engage in conversation and help us out with any questions we had! I had the spaghetti bolognese and my partner had the chicken and mushroom grilled dish. It was all fantastic and we will be back again!

Attended 4th April for my son's birthday meal food was lovely staff excellent we all had a lovely time will dine again next time we are in Plymouth.

A lovely quiet atmosphere on a Saturday night. Fantastic food (spaghetti Bolognes, mushroom Rosetta, saltimbocca pork). And an attentive staff. Geat dining.

Excellent, very tasty and filling Sunday lunch. Three of us and we each had something different: for starters, Caprese salad, Arancini with beef n Ragu, Arancini with mozzarella, and truffle. Then different mains: lamb, chicken, and roast beef. We each commented on the taste, with hickory which made it very pleasant but it was all cooked v well, esp the meat and the roast potatoes, I felt. Excellent latte coffees to finish, too. (We were too full for dessert!) We had a window table so very light, which was good. The service was very good, patient and informative when asked. The ambience was relaxed and chatty - bistro type pub? Toilets were modern n v clean too. Would definitely recommend.

Delicious Italian food, reasonably priced and top quality friendly service. A gem!

Smashing, good value little Italian restaurant just off the Barbican in Plymouth. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. The calamari starters were beautifully crisp with delicious complimentary tomato and pesto garlic bread, great pizzas (rosso and caprina) and incredible truffle infused spaghetti carbonara with a real depth of flavour. Would highly recommend.

Sunday lunch was very tasty , hot and well presented . Friendly service and lovely clean dining area . Definitely recommend .

The service was slow, and it took quite a while for the staff to take our orders even though they were not busy at all. The food was nice, and portion sizes were fair. There wasn't much atmosphere to talk of as there weren't many other dining guests. The staff were professional but not overly friendly or lively to create a buzz. The decor was good and we had a large window seated area for a group of 8 people, which was comfortable. However I don't think I'll be rushing to go back.

Three years ago wrote: What can I say ? normally when you have a fantastic three course meal one stands out from the others, but each course was equally outstanding. Best meal I've had in several years. Restaurant spotless with helpful knowledgeable friendly staff. Can't wait to return. Returned last night, a month after first visit, again couldn't fault the food or service. Choosing different dishes this time, soup and steak n mushroom, I was again impressed by the quality and obvious care the chef put into them. If you want quality clasic food, from my experience '1620' is best place to go in all of plymouth. Having been tonight as "desire" sadly all I can say is that it was ok, accept newly reopened and finding it's feet.... fingers crossed can regain heights of before (and before 1620 went downhill from my last review). Good luck team. 🤞

Beautiful meal at Desire. All of the food was excellent and really well presented. We recommend the spaghetti bolognese and pene bufala - both dishes were packed full of flavour and were generous portions too. The tiramisu for dessert is also a must! The ambience was so cosy throughout the restaurant and the service was excellent. Again, thank you to all the lovely girls who served us! Looking forward to our next visit.

Lovely food and service. Front of house a lovely young lady and the chef was top notch. Sea bass and that lovely mash. Mmmmmm

Today we had the Sunday roast. It was excellent just the right amount of food. I recommend Deire for a lovely meal. The dessert was fabulous. We will be back xx

A great small place with friendly staff

Mother's day lunch. Long waits between courses, very chewy lamb, got ignored by staff a lot of the time, empty glasses left on our table leaving hardly any space, music volume kept going up and down, couldn't give us an itemised bill No leadership, under experienced staff left to fend for themselves on a busy day

We're on a mission to find the best roast in Plymouth and this is one of the best we've had in a very long time. Just the right portion size, great service and everything on the plate was so flavorsome, would highly recommend 🙌

Can't comment on the food because my booking which was made 4 weeks ago, accepted and confirmed has been cancelled with less than 3 hours notice. Awful business acumen and won't be trying again

Really lovely, came here for a friend's baby shower and had such a lush time, it's decorated beautifully which really adds to the experience, the lady running it is friendly and attentive great customer service, the roast was lovely too, all of us were very pleased to come here. I will be back!!

Had small wedding party here yesterday of 10 people upstairs. Food was lovely and varied good vegetarian choices and portion size wasmore than adequate. Staff were very attentive and jolly. Would definately recommend.

Fabulous evening great customer service and food

This is a lovely and really welcoming place, we wanted somewhere to watch the World Cup that was more relaxed and low key. It was perfect. We had the grazing boards which were absolutely delicious. The quality of the food and wine was simply superb. The team were also just so lovely. We’ll definitely be coming back. I’d highly recommend 1620 for really good food at a decent price.

What a lovely place this was! Love the aesthetic interior and the cute little tapas they served us. The cocktails were amazing and has a personal touch. Staff are super friendly and very helpful. Perfect for date night or a soothing dinner out. Food was yum and so was the company.

Lovely pub with great food- they fitted 7 of us in from Rabart Decorating Centre last night and they’ve also fitted 10 of us in at short notice this evening as we have a crew here from all over moving our shop in Plymouth to Burrington Way. Great service and great food👍👍👍

Excellent food made fresh to order. Service was outstanding!

Wow what a fantastic place this was. We wanted a table for 4 for breakfast and got seated instantly and the place was clean and airy and smelt lovely. The staff were all friendly and very organised and helpful. We ordered breakfast, our children had a large cooked breakfast each and a drink and we had a small breakfast and drink. The waiter and waitress were lovely and couldn't do enough for us. Our food came fresh and promptly. We were asked if we would like any sauces etc and we asked for ketchup and they came in sea shells with plenty of sauce in. The beans we're also in shells it was lovely. The only thing left on the plates at the end were the empty sea shells and some sauce. It was delicious. Yes it is at the higher end price wise but wow it is so worth paying for especially whilst on holiday. Will definitely go here again when we visit again.

Myself and my husband called in for the first time on Thursday to see what it was like and stopped for a drink. It was lovely, well decorated and very clean. The Landlady, Zeena was lovely and very helpful, we had a chat about the menu and her future plans. Yesterday I went in with a friend and had lunch, great service and once again thoroughly enjoyed it! We will go back!!

Nice little restaurant. Went without reservation, but very accommodating even when there was a large party in. Friendly and polite staff. Food was very nice. Wished we could have eaten all, but was very full. Would call again.

Fabulous food! Try the vegetarian wrap and chicken burger as they were both extremely tasty.

Disappointed with our visit on Sat, the bar/restaurant was quiet with only one other group in. There were plenty of staff The food took a long time to come and strangely when it came it was luke warm, I had fish cakes and they were all wrong - texture sort of sloppy and slimy and luke warm, maybe microwaved but then they would have been hot at least? I sent it back not something I have done in years. My companions had burgers which they said were OK, the chips were thin, floppy and again luke warm. Then I visited the loo, 3 cubicles, first had a broken seat, second had a lopsided seat,the sort you are scared to try, the 3rd was OK thank goodness, then I realised, no toilet roll! As I said bar was empty, no excuses of being rushed off their feet! On the plus side, the staff were friendly and apologetic about the food and did not charge for my meal. looking at the other reviews maybe we were just unlucky and it was a bad day.

Spontaneous trip to 1620 for a Sunday roast after a recommendation from a friend... Wow! Really friendly staff and welcoming environment. The food was excellent! The beef (and the chicken) and the veg and the gravy were delicious! (I'm not a huge gravy fan but I wiped the plate clean!) Also had dessert which was also yum! Definitely will recommend and will return!

Great Sunday lunch. Dog friendly. The roast is an update on classic. Refreshing new flavours but still with familiar, comforting flavours we'd all expect. The cream cabbage is the best. Staff are attentive and accomodating. Only had a Sunday roast but can't recommend enough... Oh it's well priced too!

Took 93 year old veteran and his wife for Sunday lunch today. Outstanding food, cracking ambience with lovely staff; the charming owner took time out to say hello and buy Reg a birthday drink. Well worth a visit anytime you are in the area.

A cosy and welcoming atmosphere. Lovely Beef Sunday Roast, vegetarian menu available too. Smaller portions available if you prefer. Desserts were delicious and homemade. Just under £60 for a drink, main and dessert. Definitely will return when we are back in Plymouth. Severed by the lovely Katie.

We booked a table on Saturday evening for a small group of 9 people for a birthday celebration We had a small modern area (could easily fit 12) which was away from the bar and were allowed to put up some decorations I cannot fault the service, all the staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. I had the fish cakes which were great and one of the best brownies! Would definitely return and recommend to anyone looking for a great night out!

Booked my husband's 50th birthday celebrations at 1620. Zena was so helpful making suggestions about the food options. We had an amazing night and the food was 1st class. Thank you to Zena and her team. We will be back again soon x

We had our wedding meal here. It was completely completely perfect. Zena spent a lot of time listening to us and helping us decide what to feed people and how to organise everything. The bus company we used let us down and we ended up being an hour late but Zena made it feel like nothing was a problem or too much trouble. The food was OUTSTANDING!!!!! From starters to dessert. Every single one of our guests were impressed with the food and also the atmosphere and aesthetic of the restaurant. The waiters/waitresses were lovely and really attentive, not an empty glass at any time. We were sooooo pleased and can't recommend Zena and 1620 enough. Thank you so much for making our wedding day even better!!!!!

Sunday roast here is delicious, we had the Devon rump and gammon and we loved it! The restaurant is really cute and the staff are all really friendly. Will have to go here again!

Fantastic roast dinner and great service

We used 1620 pub and eatery as a venue for a private party. The staff were really helpful in the run up to the event and on the day did everything they could to ensure the event went smoothly. The buffet food they prepared was really excellent - worlds away from a boring beige buffet - our guests were going back for 2nds and 3rds! Really tasty, amazing presentation and lots of interesting and varied options. The restaurant is a really lovely, trendy, slightly quirky space - well let, cosy but cool. Love the decor!

Came here with some friends last night for a meal. Was very impressed with the choices on the menu, there were many options I could've happily eaten! The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Atmosphere was very nice through the night. Lovely tasty food. I have the Halloumi kebabs cheese fondue, stuffed aubergine and the lemon tart, all were delicious thank you

Afternoon tea a real treat. Too much to eat but boxed the rest up and took home. It was lovely and the service was really good.

Found this place after being told by a close by restaurant that they were fully booked. Anyway, food was excellent, cooked perfectly, friendly, helpful staff, the only reason for a 3 star review was that the music was way to loud to casually talk over dinner.

Beautiful and delicious roast dinner. The roast potatoes and beef melted in your mouth. I am not the greatest fan of cabbage but the mustard flavoured cabbage was very nice. Followed up with vanilla and popcorn cheesecake which was well presented and taste amazing Great service and very welcoming members of staff

A disappointingly very limited menu and so very expensive for what little there was on offer. For example: a steak and mushroom pie (which is lidless)! Cost almost £20 , the small piece of steak cost almost £30 and the 3 times cooked chips were actually burnt. I ate a starter, main and went on to have a pudding because I was still hungry, that's unheard of for me as I often struggle with my main when I've had a starter! The manager interpreted this as we were satisfied customer's, sadly my partner refused to let me challenge this (and run the risk of ruining our evening). This is not a fancy, fine restaurant, it's what looks to be a former shop on a busy main road opposite the more pleasant Barbican that's been made into a little pub/cafe esque place. Where I come from the expression 'Fur coat and no drawers' is a very apt description of this eating place! Will we visit again, well thats a resounding NO!

Visited two days ago for Sunday lunch. There were five of us and we sat in the private dining area at the back, which was lovely. Staff were all lovely and friendly. Food was a bit slow arriving (that's why four stars instead of five) but it was all delicious. Five empty plates. Even my eight year old ate every bit and he doesn't really like veg. Would definitely recommend.

First time in Plymouth and saw the good reviews and tried the food here. We had the steak pie and seafood skewer and both were very nice. Followed by cheesecake. Good service too. Maybe the portion sizes could be bigger if I had to be critical. Bathroom facilities also up to scratch.

One of the best Sunday roasts I've ever had the gravy was as good as a high end restaurant the hosts made us as welcome as friends this is a place I would return to again and again you need to eat here
