Desi Spice in Kettering

Didn’t visit restaurant but had takeaway - best Indian food in 20 years can’t believe didn’t know this place existed will now be a regular - food perfect excellent value great choice.

Staff are friendly and quick turnaround of food but that's all that was good. If we weren't so hungry I'd have taken it back. Tasteless and watery sauces, miserly portions of meat (4 small lumps of lamb in a bhuna) naan was awful. Genuinely the worst takeaway I've ever had.

First time ordering from Desi Spice and was not disappointed. Really lovely takeaway, was delivered hot and the food was fresh and tasted delicious. We will definitely be ordering again!

This was my first time going to Desi Spice in Desborough and I loved it. The atmosphere was great, probably because there weren't too many people in the restaurant. The staff were really and kept the table clean and clutter free very efficiently. Our food came out quickly and it was just soo good. Everything on our table looked so good I didn't want to eat it because it was just soo pretty. When I did eat it, it tasted as delicious as it looked. The prices of the dishes are very reasonable too. The restaurant itself doesn't sell alcohol but they are gracious enough to let you bring your own which is really good. I will most definitely be coming here again. Had a really lovely evening.

Asked for their recommendations of the menu as I've not tried this place before. They chose amazing, everything was super tasty, portion sizes are plenty. Prices seem alright compared to other places as well. Went to pick up and their restaurant space looks super cute as well so absolutely suitable to eat in too. I'll ask for the spicy version next time as I think they made it white girl friendly for me 😂

We have been a few times and it never disappoints. Raj and Mim go over and above. The food is fantastic and they spoil my baby granddaughter, her plate of cucumber appears on arrival. It is a gem that is not utilised enough.

Wasn't happy I couldn't order online and had to phone in my order... was abit confrontational and awkward... but food still turned up quick and was very nice. Lamb was very tender and onion bhajis were perfect

Best Indian I've had in Northamptonshire hands down and the staff unbelievable highly recommend, Me, my, Mrs and mate felt very welcome

Midweek visit so was quiet Staff couldn't of been more friendly or helpful and the food was really good

POSITIVE POST 🙌🏻🙌🏻 🥘 Desi Spice 🥘 So tonight we had the rare opportunity to pop out for a meal. Never been here before so walked in… and the service from start to finish was amazing. The food… was simply the best! Very tasteful, colourful and filling. Really cannot wait to go back again. People of Desborough… I can’t recommend these guys enough. Worst take away ever! Can't express how disappointed I was. The rice was extremely watery, naan was really tough. My husbands mixed grill was flavourless. All round disappointing meal.

Excellent food. Staff were very attentive nothing was to much for them. I would recomend going their for a meal

Just had our first delivery take out- excellent. The food arrived exactly when they said it would. It was hot, delicious and there was so much of it! Would definitely recommend. Just make sure you are hungry and have a hearty appetite to appreciate the food from this restaurant.

The food was inedible. Very bland and what I did manage, which was a few mouthfuls has left a disgusting taste in my mouth. Complete waste of money

First time dining in at Desi Spice & it was just as good as their takeaways! The chilli paneer starter was amazing the mains we had were lovely too! Chicken tikka jalfrezi was great alongside the sag aloo side! The staff were kind & attentive. Will defo be back :))

Ordered a number of dishes, all mediocre with very little flavour. One dish, Malayan Chicken had tinned fruit salad in it including grapes, pear and cherries. Revolting!

We arrived as they were preparing to close but they stayed open to serve us. Their food was amazing, delicious and great value. The staff were so friendly. I can't recommend this place enjoy 💓💞💕

In my opinion Desborough has been missing a great curry house since the closure of the ‘Spice of India’ and Desi Spice hits the spot. Lovely food, delivered at a nice pace by great staff. Looked after my daughter well, explained the dishes, attentive, nothing to complain about. So glad to have a great curry house back in the town. Will definitely be returning. The chicken jalfrezi with extra chillies was spot on 🤤

Be aware they only take cash. No cards and no licence bar

This place is very nice, the staff are very friendly and helpful. This restaurant you bring your own alcohol which is a definite plus. We have been to this restaurant twice as a group the first time the food was great couldn't fault it, but this last time the food wasn't right there was mixed up meals and lots of confusion about the plates it wasn't hot which was Strange as served on hot plates. Also to note this restaurant only excepts cash.

Quite possibly the BLANDEST curry ( pahtia) i have ever had in my life. Onion bhajis were good tbf but i most certainly wont be back.

Lovely food . Anyone who go there I highly recommend you to have tandoori chicken , was so lovely and the Nan was fresh …with that the butter chicken went very well. Good quality food and also the staff were very good with a lovely smile which made us more comfortable . Will be soon there .

The only vegan friendly restaurant in Desborough! Lovely choice of dishes, some of which you won't find on other traditional Indian menus. Staff are very helpful & super friendly. Definitely worth a visit.

What a great place, food was hot, so tasty and dishes genuinely varied. The service was spot on as well, professional, attentive and polite. Bathrooms spotless also. Your bring your own wine etc and they serve it for you. Totally refreshing way to run a restaurant A+

Best Indian I’ve had for years. Both food and service were exceptional. Bring your own alcohol, as restaurant isn’t licensed, but they’re happy to serve your wine for you. This really helps control your costs and in today’s economic crisis, is a great business model for customers. We paid £22 a head, which included a generous tip. Highly recommended. Also (unusual these days) cash only.

Dined in off the cuff, lovely decor, really friendly staff, delicious food reasonably priced and took our own wine, really enjoyable evening will definitely go back again.

Absolutely brilliant food ans service

I just had one the best Indian dishes I’ve ever had ( lamb based chef special, 2nd dish down the menu list ! ) It was divine, not spoilt by the fact that the staff is super helpful, and nice, and discreet. I will go back with no hesitation the next time I’m in this part of the country. Thank you and well done :)

Just what Desborough needs. A good quality, friendly restaurant. Myself and 2 mates went in and we were delighted to see a bust thriving restaurant. None of us could fault the food we had, packed full of flavour, really good portion sizes and just the right heat (I had Chilli Paneer, rice, vindaloo and chilli naan). Even better was the bring your own bottle policy as every penny counts. Definitely will be back again soon, as the food, staff and overall atmosphere was excellent

We ordered and recieved an incorrect order. I called the restaurant and they immediately offered a full replacement. They then gave me a follow up call to check everything was sorted. Fantastic customer care that will ensure qe remain loyal customers. Also - great curry!!!

Such a lovely place to dine. Bring your own beverage, the waiters even serve you with your own drinks and glassware is provided. Food was delicious and served in an orderly timeframe. Service was fantastic, doted on but not hovering. Will definitely come back.

Found this restaurant by chance the service and food was top quality so much so a group of us went back the following evening. One of the waiters recommended a dish to try and it was a good recommendation

Fabulous customer service, food was absolutely top notch, beautifully clean premises. Staff were always cheerful and helpful. We would highly recommend Desi Spice. It was so good we went back the following night. Take your own beer/wine. Well worth a visit, great food at a very reasonable price.

I ordered food and they didn't send rice which was the main dish and when call they didn't even say sorry, just say they gonna refund me not sending rice,its ridiculous not recommended anybody

I went for my birthday. We took our own champagne they served us that without charging for glasses etc. the food was excellent. The staff where friendly & good at there job. The restaurant was clean & spacious. Will definitely be going back again. Xx

What a fantastic evening we had. They made us feel very welcome. The food was fantastic catered for everyone needs and dealt with special requests. Never rushed and gave us time between courses. Would highly recommend and will definely be going back. Thanks for a great evening everyone.

New management apparently ? Turned up , Cash only ? Daughter had to go to cash point , i went in , Ordered a cobra beer while waiting for her , Sorry we dont serve alcohol ! Went outside got in car when she turned up ! Went to Taste of India , had a great time , and offered two spirit drinks at the end of night ! On the house ! End of Story !

Excellent food with great service! 👍 I suggest that a more "ethnic" selection of background music might be appropriate, along with some touches of authentic Indian decor. Otherwise this restaurant is a great asset to the town. 😊

The other reviews on here are out of date - the restaurant has changed hands totally, the decor has been properly updated and the food is absolutely spot on and the service is good. Desi Spice has only been in operation for a couple of weeks, and my friends and family have now eaten thirteen different dishes over two visits, and enjoyed every one.

This is not nazz spicE anymore it is desi spicE completely new management new chef all new staff very friendly environment and staff lovely food and a non alcoholic but bring your own drinks 😉 your very welcome we're are here to keep our customers happy 😀 and to give best customer service as possible thank you

Under new management, now called Agra spice. Food was outstanding, although the atmosphere was let down a bit, due to another customer causing a disturbance

Despite pre-ordering we waited over two hours for our mains to arrive. When they did finally arrive some if them were in plastic dishes and a number of them were cold. Even after bring this to the attention of the staff the dish was taken away only to be returned on crockery as cold as before. The naan bread was stiff as a board and more like a digestive biscuit. The staff seemed more interested in manning the phones than attending to their guests. A number of times we had to chase the staff for food and drinks. This visit was an absolute fiasco ruining our works Christmas night out. Have no fear I will not be visiting this establishment again. Shocking.

Order placed at 7pm and was told it would be delievered at 8. Arrived 2hours late after 3 phone calls, each being told it would be another 30 mins. when it did arrive was luke warm . No apologies or reasons ... Special masala contained unidentifiable meat and centre of meat in all 3 dishes was cold. £33 spent on dinner for 3, was thoroughly dissapointed after a number of recommendations

Food was awful ! The chips were burnt and my rogan was full of garlic ! Absolutely awful. Also the madras was a. Very small portion. Will not be going back there again. Nan bread Also burnt

⭐AMAZING⭐ Service was absolutely second to none, waited on by a lovely young chap, he was running the bar, waiting tables, taking telephone orders and checking in with the guests that we were happy! I rarely tip (20 years in customer service, I'm difficult to please!) But we gave him a tip this evening. Food was fantastic, hot, fresh and extremely good value. Worst Biriyani I have ever had. No taste, Not even salt. It looked like they have cooked rice separate, curry separate and mixed them and called it Biriyani. Seriously! Lamb wasn't cooked to tender. It tasted like I was biting in to rubber. If chef worked in this restaurant for another few month. They will have to close this restaurant for sure. Very disappointed with the food. Learn to cook before you open a restaurant!!!

Can’t leave the house due to covid, Has taken nearly two and a half hours for delivery that is up the road from the restaurant and had a missing keema naan.

The food was tasty, all vegetarian, and the portion sizes were good without being too large. Cost around average. Entry of choice on the menu along with drinks. There aren't many tables though so best to book or have it as a takeaway. Decor wise, it does need something warming.

Very sparse and paintwork oppressive. Needs more warmth and a little music in the background. Food is fab though.

Nice, clean and chilled atmosphere. Great selection of pickles with the poppadoms and the mains were fabulous. I had the Chicken Naga Special- hot and very tasty, my friend had the Special Chicken Balti which she liked. The Cheese and Chilli Naan was very cheesy and I would recommend a rice each. Definitely deserved 5stars! Waiter very friendly and knowledgeable.

Delivered flyers for this company. Left it for a week after I told the manager I finished before my Aunt called up for me. He was very rude to my Aunt who only asked the date I would be getting paid and was implying that he wouldn't pay me as he wouldn’t set a date for my payment. Eventually he shouted at my Aunt down the phone to come in the next day (and also was trying to be intimidating at the same time) and he did pay me. Very rude over one simple question.

We went out for my Birthday. Really pleased to see how socially distanced the tables were. The service was great and the staff were really friendly. We were really impressed with the food too. A good selection of sauces and chutneys to go with the poppadoms. We asked for extra onions they were brought out immediately. Our main dishes came out piping hot and were delicious. We all said how the nice the pieces of chicken were. They must've have known it was birthday and brought me over a free glass of wine which I had been drinking which I thought was very kind. A really lovely night!

Just got a takeaway was told 1 hour then 1 hour and 40minutes later meal came. Meal was cold had to heat up in microwave. Couldn't eat the naan bread as very hard. My Chicken biryani was tasteless so didn't eat it, so wont be ordering from Nazz spice again unfortunately we were very disappointed as seen some really good reviews.

Cheap furniture, poorly decorated even though it's just opened. Main meal was cold when served, very limited drinks... no gins. Silly little things were wrong. Food very average, even though the takeout food was good before. Sorry guys but with the Taste of India only 1.5 miles away you are totally outclassed. Really disappointed

Im a not huge fan of india food, But this place is full of aromas and fresh indetergents. Definitly I will come back here with familly and my friends.

I tried so many indian restaurants, but here I found fresh, delicious dishes. Exellent service. The best local restaurant I ever been before.
