Desi Lounge in Tower Hamlets

Service was very slow. We had to wait a long time to be served. The food itself was fine but not as flavourful as indian food usually is, and it was very oily. The staff were very nice.

Excellent food, and great friendly service from Mohit

We had high hopes for our Eid celebration meal, but it turned out to be an absolute disaster. We travelled from a distance, expecting a special meal to enjoy the evening, but from the moment we arrived, it was clear this was going to be a train wreck. The service was extremely slow —our starters took 1 hour and 40 minutes to arrive, and the staff seemed disorganised. As for the food, it was a car crash. Nothing tasted fresh, and many of the dishes were bland, tasteless, or downright inedible. The king prawn biryani was dry and tasteless. It felt like a complete waste of time and money. Our Eid celebration, which should’ve been special, was completely ruined. I wouldn't recommend Desi Lounge to anyone looking for a meal out. Avoid at all costs!!!

Just want to say a big thank you to the team at desi lounge for an absolutely wonderful evening iftar. The food was spot on from the starters to the main course. There was so much options to choose from. All I want to say is keep up the good work.

Beautiful venue in the heart of easy end - great management and service

Party of 150 of us went there for a event great atmosphere friendly staff excellent service. Iftar deal dates, fruit , kichuri , chana, akni, dalir bora, somosa, kebab, chicken wings, water, Salam cola, plus all the sauces with Jelabi , supari & tea everyone enjoyed the Iftar. Simple iftar very tasty whole group had good time everyone like the food.

Amazing atmosphere and amazing food

Absolutely amazing experience at Desi Lounge! The platter with samosas, kebabs, pakoras and my fave the WINGS was a perfect combination—crispy samosas with flavorful filling, juicy and well-seasoned kebabs, and wings cooked to absolute perfection. Every bite was a delight! To top it off, the mango lassi was rich, creamy, and refreshing, while the mojito was perfectly balanced with just the right amount of mint and lime. Their milkshake was also really good The service was friendly and attentive, and the ambiance was warm and inviting, the staff made you feel comfortable and it's definitely a children friendly restaurant. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for delicious food and warm family environment! Will definitely be coming back.

Exceptional service and hospitality

Firstly a huge thank you for the fantastic service from start to end, especially to one of the front house staff who was super friendly and kept the kids laughing with his jokes. We had after Nikkah gathering here, the food was plentiful and tasted really good. Fresh hot dishes, we had some late coming guests who got served even though their team had started to clear up. Decor is beautiful, plenty of space for kids to run around and we felt very welcome to be there. Keep up the fantastic job. I look forward to future events. Oh and their coffee is really good!

They gave me a higher price then what was on their menu and refused to refund me my money back for hiring out the place for a iftaari. Was very unprofessional and lacked customer service will not be coming here again. They have ripped off multiple people I know and does not return any deposits made. I have contacted the manager that was there at the time but he made excuses saying the brother in charge for the refund was not available to come as he had “family issues” so he cannot give us the refund. It’s now been over a month and still no refund. Please instead of advising me you should look into management.

Great food and service - would recommend!

Venue and decor is of really good quality and able to accommodate large gatherings and small wedding parties. The staff were very helpful and attentive. Parking is only available on the street, after 6pm. Or weekends Disappointed with the food quality and taste, it just wasn't good enough unfortunately. It lacked taste and quality

Delicious food, very authentic, with really kind staff; especially Mahi, Muhit, Urmi, and Lucky!

The food was on point, service was great and for the price, exceptional. Spacious dining can accommodate for large gatherings, but for my family it was plentiful. The price ranges for starters and mains is very reasonable and comparing these to bricklane, would deffo recommend here as transport and local amenities are favourable. Parking is a problem, but plenty of sides streets and also main road parking available

Just tasted the iftar menu. Found parking straight anway in the road opposite the restaurant. Amazing food, amazing atmosphere and fantastic service. Not a single thing to complain about. Definitely would recommend. shah Islam. Happy customer!

Great place, shame it is almost empty each time we visit! Tasty food, attentive service, reasonable prices for good portion sizes. The only thing to flag up, which isn't an issue for us but might be for others: no alcohol licence so alcohol cannot be sold and customers cannot bring their own. Definitely worth a try!

A very spacious place for events and weddings. I attended a wedding here and the service was absolutely impressive especially by the waiter that was seeing to my table. His name was Muhit. Had a delicious meal Desi Lounge (half chicken and egg fried rice). I have been several times and it is always a reliable choice. The dishes are well executed and the service is friendly. Thanks to the excellent staff (Mahi, Muhit, Urmi and Lucky).

Lovely food and ample amount of space. Could do with abit of a facelift outside but it's worth a late dinner.

Muhit our server was an absolute legend - super friendly and even asked the chef for a vegetarian dish for us that wasn't on the menu. The food was also delicious - super fresh and tasty. Highly recommend. Feedback - some more veggie options would be great and and re-useable rather than single use wash towels.

We took our family for a birthday party. I was blown away by the level of customer service, from the initial booking consultation right up to the moment we left the restaurant. I really can say I have never seen customer service on this level in a long time. The food was exceptional and also we were acomodated with some dietary requirements. A 10/10 experience. 👏

Horrible food, lacks quality, lacks taste. DO NOT ORDER THE PRAWN BIRIYANI !!!! Asked the owner/ manager if the sheekh kebabs were fresh (implying house made), he said yes, its actually frozen and he thought fresh as in cooking it -_- (dumb right) Service was abysmal, waiters seemed lost. Do not go in big groups, SHAMBLES (guess there was a reason they did not take deposit)

Horrible service. Given popadoms but when given the bill, they charged £1 per popadom. Day light robbery. The prawn biryani was abysmal to say the least. The rice was crunchy and lacked any flavour. The prawns were rubbery. The jalfrezi was showered with lemon juice. All in all terrible experience. Avoid!

We ordered platters and curries but the owner gave us more than we asked for, also A big platter of lamb chops on the house and many other items. I must say we were very hungry and We kept ordering but the owner told us to stop as we were ordering too much and won't be able to finish it, but then he ended up loading our table with food we didn't expect. That's what u call honesty and generosity, Warm and cosy environment, staff were very welcoming. Food was 10/10 and definitely will be visiting again MUST TRY!

Staff were very friendly and accommodating, however food was not great. Also no parking unless you park on a single yellow line on a Sunday. There is a station close by

Little gem of a place, wonderful service from Urmi and Mahi. The Kitchen did a Veg Jalfrezi off menu for us and the lamb seekh kebab was nicely spiced. Addictive mango lassi!

Best place to get south asian curries! I had chicken tikka, Chicken jalfrezi with rice and naan. My friend had lamb bhuna he thoroughly enjoyed too! Mahi the waiter was vibrant and attentive. He took extra care of us. Even he recommended to have strawberry mojito that was excellent..

Urumi magi excellent service polite and a good experience

It was pretty amazing! Me and my friend walked down Bethnal Green Rd quite long , then we encountered beautiful forest green Victorian style tiles ! We entered and milion white flowers were attached to the ceiling, very pretty interior! Staff , especially Muhit and Mahi were so amazing ! We got some poppadoms free with sauses, then we ordered. Food was really well cooked and so fresh! I really recommend it!!!! Later on we were joined by our colleagues it was a very big group of us together! Poppadoms were given free to every single person/ table, it was amazing! Food arrived in covered brass pots, so cute! I loved it! Muhit was handing us tissues directly to each person and some even were brought take away boxes! He told me people don't know spices are good for us cause of Vitamin C- I didn't know it ! Interesting discovery ! So amazing !!! I was always confused when I walked past, as I couldn't understand what this place was. I am so happy I visited! Prices are really good, I am so happy this place is not overpriced ! The service staff, especially the waiters were so kind and professional ! Please go and visit , I walked past this place for so many years and was blind, instead I should have visited sooner! Go don't miss it! I highly recommend it!

Desi Lounge in Bethnal Green is hidden in plain sight, walk pass it most times without noticing this gem, we had a small wedding party in the evening. The food was nice, especially the mutton curry, dhal and pilau rice. But the service and the staff went an extra mile to make everyone happy. There were ample parkings around the area in the evening times as well. Not disappointed at all.

My sister’s wedding was at Desi Lounge last week. Everything went perfect. Food was delicious! All our guests spoke very highly of the food and had zero complaints. Staff are incredible, so polite and catered to all our needs. Will definitely be hosting all our future family events at Desi Lounge.

Went there as a group to welcome back the Umrah family members and were recieved with amazing hospitality and served with a personal touch. The food was surprisingly delicious, considering that Indian style food is usually what I eat at home, with decent fusions on the dishes and a good variety of beverages to choose from. There was a couple of other functions occuring but it did not disrupt our dine in experience and the staff done a decent job whilst catering for both the men and women's side, which was segregrated. Unfortunately was only able to take pictures of the starters as when the mains came, we all devoured it! I don't usually eat Indian style food in restaurents but will definitely be coming back to Desi Lounge! Highly recommend!

been there so many times, all of their stuff’s are so nice and well behaved, they highly maintain hygiene n serve fascinating foods, if you wanna try authentic indian/bengali/south asian food you must try desi lounge. n special shoutout to zak sasa for his amazing hospitality. no doubt desi lounge is one of the best restaurant in east london.
