Go most weeks. Good city centre location.. friendly staff. Would be a great shame iif it had to close

If you're 16-25 this place is pure KINO. £3.50 for a ticket makes this place the best value kinoplex i have ever visited Update 2021: had to remove a star due to the gender neutral toilets. i don't feel comfortable using the toilets anymore and think this was a bad decision Update 2024: OMG they're now not even going to be open Mon - Wed. It's over for QUAD. Put a fork it in, you're done.

Watched pulp fiction, was a very nice cinema and could get a decent amount of beverages to take into the cinema.

I’m a regular at the Quad’s 3 screen cinema and wholeheartedly recommend this superb venue in Derby city centre. Quad’s elective programming ensures films for all tastes, from the latest blockbusters to art house and indie fare. All 3 screens boast comfortable seating, first rate sound and vision and the prices are good; even more so if you purchase their value for money membership. Quad membership even extends to their on site coffee bar which gives a 10 per cent discount to Quad members. As well as offering the latest films in world cinema, customers can enjoy screenings of retrospective films such as The Third Man and the 1931 Dracula. Various film festivals also take place, along with screenings of theatrical productions. Last but not least, the staff are another level wonderful.

Went for a preview of a new film, staff were great as ever, very polite and welcoming. Great screening in a nice modern comfortable cinema with nice seats and plenty of space - it's a great place 🤩

Coffee not great, tables were sticky and not clean, overall alright but not coming again.

So expensive it’s almost embarrassing. Quad leeches off people like they are Ki Taek from Parasite. “Donate to us” everywhere, even on the damn bathrooms. Speaking of the bathrooms they are so tiny I can’t move when in there. You’d assume with how expensive everything is that they’d have enough to stop begging for money. Not to mention service in the cafe is awful. Went for a hot drink it was £6 and took 3 people to make. Was late for my meeting as It took 10-15 minutes. One woman started it and then walked away half way through. One guy added some milk and went to the back and then finally a final girl finished my drink. Absolutely insane. Chairs are cheap and food/drink is expensive and tiny. Go to derby theatre or the movie theatre in derbyion. Only gets 3 stars due to the lgbt support and the movie making courses.

Good cinema, good choice of snacks available from the kiosk upstairs and a good cafe downstairs.

Love this venue. Cafe is lovely and well priced. The Quad has such a lovely community vibe to it and usually is the place to watch a great indie film.

First time visiting for the Godzilla-A-Go-Go film event. Well done! Will be back. Car parking 🅿️ opposite (very tight tho) and can get parking validated by the QUAD for discount 👌 Will be back for further events!

Sat outside on my own enjoying a glass of rose wine whilst waiting for my husband. Lovely and peaceful in the sunshine watching the world go by. Really feel this is a safe space and staff and other customers were very friendly.

I love this place, you can get something nice to eat and drink whilst you are watching the film. Reminds me of old time pictures. If you have children and grandchildren , you can join the kids club and it works out very cheap if you have one or even a few children.

Really grateful for the team setting up fun and interactive exhibitions for kids during the summer holidays. Every year there's been something different that our girls always enjoy and makes a great day out in town for the family.

Lovely staff, atmosphere and exhibitions. I had the halloumi salad which was a good size and delicious. My partner had the pitta bread and humous which was so good I was jealous of his choice. Although I didn’t have kids, there’s plenty for them to do and an outdoor space for families.

I didn't come here for a film or for the gallery even though they're worth a visit. But the cafe here is absolutely amazing!

First time eating at the quad I had gammon chips egg and peas delicious. And a special thanks to the 2 young ladies that served me very polite and friendly thank you both.

Very nice and helpful team in the cafe. Amazing cakes and coffee. But ....unfortunately I was as a stall holder on the market and it was disappointing as it's visible that this side has huge problems and is about to close

Buzzing arts hub in the centre of Derby. Loads going on - best of all is the cinema, which hosts frequent festivals.

Really nice place been meaning to visit .Staff are very helpful .Will definatly consider membership as so many things on the programme appealed .Also runs alot of the independant films and events .Great cafe the cakes looked fab .Visited during the book festival very well organised and advertised .

Cinema was clean and tidy, no issues with the seat I sat on, no more than 5 were in the venue, maybe timing of the listings may need to be changed to compete with cinema de lux

Great venue and a cheaper option to watch films than Odeon or Showcase, plus you can take your own snacks.

Great venue with so many different films from all around. Catering for all tastes from indie film to the mainstream fair. Definitely recommend this venue while in Derby.

Edit 23/04/24: QUAD has fallen so much since my first review. The prices have doubled, they now charge for transactions, they don't put the heating/air con on, the website is appauling (can no longer book 16-25 year old tickets online), customer service is slow the list goes on ... I know times are tough and it's good to support your local indie cinemas, but when you can buy £5 tickets at Odeon Luxe on a Monday 5 mins down the road something is very wrong ... 5 years ago: The best Derby has to offer! The cinema matches no other in the area - cheap, well sized, and comfortable. What more could you ask for? The movies chosen are also equally worth coming for. Not only are the lastest showings available, but old and indie films, which aren't often displayed anywhere else, are shown too. Beyond this, the venue is used for a whole multitude of other purposes well worth exploring.

Quad cafe Derby Shocking price for tea and toast. Refused to give me extra butter! Atmosphere dreadful and table chair sticky and unclean. Really disappointed

A fantastic arts centre with movie screens showing a range of new releases, art house films and blasts from the past as well as live performances. Has an excellent cafe for food and drink before the show.

A fantastic cinema, gallery and venue for exhibitions, seminars and more. They have plenty of events all the year round.

Not realise in everyway yet, just had a coffee but intend going back nice cup of coffee as well.

Always interesting things happening here and staff who obviously care about the project of the place. Plus the cafe is inviting and reasonably priced. It's really criminal that QUAD doesn't get more traffic.

Independent art gallery, cinema, cafe. What's not to love?

A great entertainment centre .. 3 cinemas in the building from medium size to small .... The Box seats about 40 or so on easy chairs which is cool. Resteraunt and bar on the ground floor with top notch meals. Take you drinks upstairs or buy from the kiosk on the tpp floor. Always some art exhibitions going on and media training suites. All round good place to visit ... keep up the good work More visits .. same great place .. keep it up

The Cinema is great for neurodivergent people like myself. Not as many adverts, not as loud, friendly atmosphere and lovely staff. I love going to the cinema alone and it can sometimes be a struggle, but I have always felt safe and comfortable going to the quad. The Quad also shows such amazing movies at don't get shown in big cinema and I'm extremely thankful for this.The cafe is also amazing and a brilliant menu suitable for all dietary requirements.

Went to the Santa visit, was very disappointed, 30 seconds for 3 kids to see Santa felt very rushed, wouldn’t recommend it

We booked for the 'Breakfast with Santa' experience and was very disappointed. The staff were friendly but the Northern lights area looked half finished with absolutely no effort made to decorate the tables and barely an effort made in the grotto. Looks to us like they had a minimum budget. Santa himself was good with the children and our daughter loved the participation in the songs. Shame about the effort made with the gift. Overall just very disappointing. We will not be going next year.

This is a brilliant cinema! The ticket prices are very reasonable and they screen a variety of old and new films! Such a good atmosphere and the seats are comfortable with plenty of leg space. Staff are very friendly. *accept meerkat movies!*

Went to see '23 Seconds to Eternity'. Chair was a little tight, but the vibe is immaculate, especially in the wee screen room it was held in. Staff are friendly, and it's just a nice place to go see a film.

There for special screenings. Very enjoyable evening

Air conditioning felt a little cool towards end of evening performance, but otherwise v enjoyable

Have been here a bunch of times, it's great. More affordable that most cinema's, great selection of movies - just came to see Killers of the Flower Moon, long but deeply interesting and based on a true story (which is still playing out today!). Great drinks, cake and food at the cafe to (particularly the carrot cake)!

Quad is a Friendly place Really Comfy seats

I brought 3 tickets to the outdoor cinema experience at Derby Rugby Club which was being put on by Quad. This was cancelled and a refund was offered. I contacted them several times and was told the money had gone back in to my account. This never happened. I have left multiple messages and no one has got back to me. If I had brought one ticket I probably would have just left it because it shouldn’t be this hard to get my money back. The cost of three tickets could be put towards a grocery shop as we all know how expensive things have gotten recently.

Visited the cafe bar here a few times now. On my visit today I had a mocha & a slice of victoria sponge cake. The mocha was really nice but the victoria sponge cake was amazing 🤤

Went on Sunday to see Swan Lake. You provided a Synopsis, after my criticism last week. Well done. A "shout out" for your Usher, John. He is a excellent Ambassador for both the Quad and the Museum. He is so knowledgeable and makes sure that you are seated correctly (I am a little disabled), which is such good support. Thank you John for caring about your customers. Much appreciated.

Lovely place. Great cafe with positive staff who make a good coffee. Very good cinema. Worth becoming a member to support great places like this.

Needs a revamp sorry there struggling 😢

First time visiting today. Coffee was nice enough but the lady on reception this morning was rude. Clearly not a people person and needs some customer service training. (Black Quad uniform, short dark brown hair which was up in a bun).

Our go to cinema, lovely environment, comfortable seats with lots of leg room and a much more intimate viewing experience, more like being at home.

I love the Quad and I wish them well, staff are friendly and helpful, cinema is very comfortable and clean but the food is really very very bad. It's like fast food quality served extremely slowly. I ordered the sweet chilli crispy chicken and it was not sweet or crispy, the coleslaw was flaccid and chips were ok. Will maybe see a film there but definitely won't eat there again.

My wife and I, visited here after receiving a “Supper Cinema Voucher for Two”. Before going to see the film, we decided to eat in the cafe. I have to say I was very underwhelmed by the whole experience, with the table being dirty, having to the clear it from the previous people ourselves, & at no point, staff coming over to wipe the table. Once deciding what drinks and food we wanted, from the minimal menu, I waited in a queue to order. When ordering for some reason, the server didn’t know what archers and lemonade was, & when asking a colleague, he said it was a gin? The bar area itself, was dirty, with cups everywhere, & staff running about without much purpose. Fortunately, when the food arrived, despite looking minimal on the amount of chips, the burgers tasted good. After food, we went upstairs, & was expecting to get some popcorn, with there being nothing, other than a few baskets or sweets and chocolate. Once in the cinema screen, the seats looked outdated, & stained, with them happily asking £7.50! Basically everywhere needs a good clean, & refurb, & all staff need retraining. I don’t think that i’ll be visiting again, any time soon!

The staff were so helpful when I went to the cinema. Chris and Jen helped my friend and I, Chris helping us upstairs and Jen helping us get snacks and then sort out the headsets for audio description. She even came back at the start to make sure all was working. Just brilliant service. Thank you Quad!

No longer recommend the quad for food. No vegan pizza, no purple rain tea. The replacement didnt taste lemon and gingery at all. The food was served in box like a chippy which isnt environmentally friendly. Skimpy portions as well. Staff doesnt seem very happy either.

Prince night last Friday! Watched purple rain, had a cocktail. Didn't stay as there was a huuiige qué for that bar. It was a bit disappointing

Great value for money to see a new release and an impressive range of different events and activities.

Had good experience at Derby Quad. Friendly staff with good value ticket prices. Easy and cheap parking nearby on weekday evenings. Also visited cafe - which had fast service and fair prices for food. Friends and I enjoyed variety of meals from sandwiches, British meals to pizzas and burgers. Positive experience overall - will be aiming to come back!

I'd give The QUAD six stars if I could. I wish more places in Derby were like this. Me and my group of friends visit quite often for the cinema and I have to say that the place is spotless, the staff are fantastic and professional, and the films/events are always varied and interesting. I would say I wished that more people knew about this place, but then we'd have less of it for ourselves! A must-visit, especially if you're local.

Got an idea of a drink you would like to try but don't see it ask as I did and will try to help make it. What I ate was good to eh so good service in the cafe everywhere else cant say yet. Good times.

Visited for a screening of The Bishops Wife in the run up to Christmas - coffee shop does get busy in the period before shows start so be wary Compact and sociable venue - always a pleasant experience

Movie in the Cube which is the small cinema on the top floor. Sofas very comfortable and we'll spaced. A hidden and underrated gem.

Visited the Ice rink at Cathedral Quarter. Brought back memories of childhood. Amazing experience.

Quad is welcoming and airy. The cafe offers plenty of choice for a meal at any time of the day, as well as a plethora of hot and cold drinks.

Excellent choice of films from mainstream to art house, screened in cinemas that offer comfort and value (The Box even has loungey furniture...) Decent café and sensible prices for refreshments.

I really enjoy going to the Derby Quad, it is a gem in the centre of Derby city. It’s a fantastic venue for seeing movies, they always have an interesting and new selection of films, especially art house and foreign cinema but mainstream as well. The staff are very welcoming and friendly, especially a nice bloke named John who often takes my tickets and directs us to the correct cinema room and has always been very attentive to me and my companions. They allow you to get drinks and food at the bar to take in (alcoholic or soft drinks and good coffee all available) and John will happily look after your drinks or food if you need to use the facilities before going to the cinema or whatever you need.

Myself and family went to the cafe Sunday Memorial Day. I am sorry to say that this cafe was a complete shambles. We were probably 3rd in the queue and it was a catastrophe ok coffee machine broke, I asked for two teas three hot chocolates three bits off this cake that was not nice at all hot chocolate stone cold and to top it tge girl charged me twice then I had to go back asking for a refund. The staff all kids had no clue what they were doing like a woman behind me said we could have gone round counter and made it quicker with a kettle from the kitchen suffice to say I will never visit this place again

Ate here a week ago with family. The bread was stale, and to try to hide this had been soaked in butter. Just made it stale and greasy. I wouldn't visit again.
