Derby Lodge in Knowsley

I visited today for the Mothers Day Menu and my sisters mixed grill wasn’t even cooked properly from cold sausages 🤢blood in chicken breast🤢 steak was just a big ball of fat 🤢 frozen chips wasn’t even cooked they was rock hard 😵‍💫 I’m absolutely gutted about this 🤷‍♀️ Thank god we didn’t have to pay for it so all good there 👌The staff very attentive Thankyou 🌻 I just think the whole place needs a good refurbishment job on it the carpets are threadbare 🤷‍♀️ sorry we won’t be back to such a beautiful building such a shame 😥

Only had drinks here , it was clean beer not a bad price it's an eatery not somewhere for an evening out

Saturday morning breakfast was fantastic! Great food and great service from the wonderful Bev! Even my 20 month old grandson loved it. Can’t beat a Derby Lodge breakfast

Went for my daughters 21st birthday sat 1st March nothing but disappointment waitress's miserable quite rude to be fair Standards very poor meals came out slow but we had pre booked so shouldn’t of been any issues basically three our meals at us then never returned to say if everything was ok one member of my family never received their main meal absolute joke Their was no sweet menu offered no after cofee nothing it was embarrassing for me dealt with rudeness & I could care less attitude Paying bill waitress was rude said go get some else to help you Absolutely disgusting disrespectful Bar staff friendly no complaints Spoilt my daughters special day I’d never nor will return again that’s for sure

I went to Liverpool on business in January 2024 for a 4 month contract. The project was extended many times, consequently i stayed at derby lodge hotel for a total of 13 months arriving late Sunday and leaving Friday morning. The restaurant is connected to the hotel but run as a separate company. Breakfast and evening meal was in the restaurant. The staff where always friendly from day one which really helps when you are a solo traveller. Nice touches like remembering your regular order and how you like it cooked. The Luke special salad is really worth ordering absolutely fantastic ! Its difficult working in the restaurant business as some of the customers are not always pleasant but the staff are always Courtois and professional. As time went on i was considered part of the family, even competing for the Derby Lodge golf trophy (Well played Jacob better luck next time:) Due to my profession i have stayed in many premier inns throughout the country with the same arrangement of a restaurant attached. I would personally like to thank all of the staff at the hotel and restaurant making my staying away from home so much more than bearable. Always remember you are by far the best !!

Arrived at Hotel for drinks with friends around 5-45 Saturday . large group of adults with kids 10 years of age down to 2 . Parents were loud and shouting all around the area , their kids were playing football inside the bar area. Totally bad and rude behavior and the kids were left to run amok. No management made any attempt to ask the people to control the noise and their kids. We are parents and would never let children behave that way. However it is more annoying that no member of staff confronted the issue , which was so evident. Perhaps caught the place on a bad day, but certainly will not return.

We had a wonderful breakfast here it was freshly cooked and beautifully presented the staff were helpful and friendly.

The flavors in every dish were amazing! The fresh ingredients and expert preparation made for a fantastic meal. The service was excellent, and the ambiance was perfect.

We visited this week as a group of 11, including 2 children. What can I say other than the service was second to none. A massive shout out to Courtney, who made our visit extra special and went over and above during our visit. Nothing was too much bother for her, including setting up a ‘special table’ for our young children who were overwhelmed by just visiting the restaurant. Derby Lodge - you have an absolute gem of a member of staff who made the visit for us all. Oh and the food was really good aswell

I've heard lots of good comments about the Derby Lodge over the last year. So I decided to go and check it out in person. I attended when it was lunch time hours. The place was welcoming, the staff were friendly and the food was nice and the price was great. Me and my son had a 3 course meal and a drink for under £29. I noticed the pub got busy whilst I was there. I will definitely visit again in the future. The unlimited breakfast for £10.99 looks tempting so I might consider checking out the breakfast deal on my next visit.

Excellent service, friendly and welcoming staff , good value for money, food delicious and nice and hot. Highly recommend Derby Lodge.

Went for dad’s 70th this evening as quite local and good prices after expensive Christmas and an 18th. Staff were all lovely 2 waitresses in particular were fab (apologies didn’t get names) gave us some giggles, looked after us well and made a fuss for my dad. Food was nice pub group very enjoyable. Come away very full, satisfied and happy. 😃

I came to Liverpool for a 4 month contract and have stayed at the Derby lodge for nearly a year I stay in premier inns country wide but Derby lodge is by far the best It’s difficult staying away from home, even for a short time and some hotels feel like a prison The teams at Derby Lodge and the restaurant Table Table are very welcoming, sociable and work hard to make everyone’s stay the best possible The project is nearly complete and I will have happy memories of my very extended stay

Just been to the Derby Lodge and once again had amazing service from all the staff Ellie, Courtney, Joe. Food was amazing. First time I've had the lasagne and I can honestly say it's the best lasagne I have had. Keep up the great work. Lady Graham x

The Derby Lodge is a beautiful building set in a lovely part of Huyton with Roby area, from the outside you would expect high standards as for inside it is a shame the the decor inside looks dismal and in need of repair - see photos. The Derby Lodge is right on my doorstep but never choose to go there because of past experience and it is to my disappointment we decided to go on this occasion. The menu which hasn't changed still has very little choice and the is food average. The service was good and pleasant however tables were left unclean overall the pub lacks atmosphere and feels dull.

It is what it advertises ! Good food in a congenial atmosphere with the company of others having a treat at 1990's prices and change out of £30 for 2 with alcoholic drink.

Love the place, nice and relaxing almost all of the time (don’t get much riff raf in here) I was in the bar today and all was great but there was one individual (ex marine, boot leggy, lord, lieutenant and so on haha) Elle the barmaid put him right in his place though after he was swearing very loudly in front of woman and children. You see that wouldn’t happen in other close venues to hear, the barmaids wouldn’t have said a word. So good on her for making everyone else’s visit a good one by stopping that vile language coming out of that mans mouth any further.

Don't order the "Festive burger". Our party ordered two. Both arrived cold. I asked them to take them back which they did. They happily microwaved the things so they were inedible. The food in the Derby lodge is like that hole in the wall on the way to the toilets. In need of a fix.

We have started to use the Derby Lodge, as our own local has stopped providing there services to the public, we find the Derby lodge just as good as any other in our area, friendly staff, great food, good choices, clean and tidy too.

We order a steak well done it was burnt to crisp service very poor I will not eat at the Derby Lodge again

Excellent service, servers were very accomodating. Food was good value in the lunch menu, but the drinks are a bit overpriced in my opinion. Around £4 for a coke is quite expensive considering the discounted meals are a similar price.

Courtney was the best waitress was really friendly and hade a lovely chat with her thank you for being so kind

Had the Xmas menu , it was lovely! My son has the smothered platter and he said the steak was brilliantly cooked to his liking! My granddaughter especially loved the igloo desert! Overall an excellent meal served by Bev who couldn’t do enough for us

Brilliant service again from Julie, Julia and Ellie, they are so welcoming with a friendly smile. Perfect for a day out with family or solo!

Another great evening and dinner at this place, love it. Julie was our waitress and couldn’t have done more for us, asking if we required more drinks etc (you don’t get this service in a lot of restaurants, even though you should). I have been told that Julie has been there many years and is well liked by regulars and beyond and it shows from the service she provided. Bar staff are great as well, had a couple of drinks before we went through to the restaurant and they are very friendly. Good atmosphere all together really, you should try it for yourselves.

Ordered Sunday Lunch for 3 people. Food arrived barely warm. We couldn't attract waiters attention and no one came to see if we were happy with our meals. Other customers were also unhappy. Worst Sunday dinner I have ever had.

We had a great time coming for a Sunday meal with my family and partner. The food was lovely and the service was amazing. The salt and pepper calamari was really good and the roast dinners were gorgeous. Our server, Courtney, was very attentive, and had great banter with our table. Everyone was lovely and we hope to be back soon!

Got shown to table by a man at 6.25pm there were two waitresses walking around plus another girl in a very untidy shirt at the display screen . We sat at our table the waitresses walked past us several times but were ignored. After sitting at our table for over 25 minutes I called a girl Courtney over who reluctantly took our order . By the time our food came out she had left and our food was brought out by Jacob who was really apologetic to us. He out of all the staff was the one who couldn’t do more for us I thank him .he took £10 off our bill for the inconvenience I did thank him . I think the waiting staff should take some tips off him in how to deal with customers like just don’t walk past and ignore them .

Stayed at the Premier Inn and took their meal deal option. The food was fresh, cooked to order, and tasted good. All the staff are nice and welcoming.

Disapointing. We would not recommend. We booked a table for 4 people for my mum and dads wedding anniversary then changed it to 5 people. We were told we couldnt go in the restaurant because they couldnt accomodate 5 people! and we were seated outside on a table on our own. No atmosphere, very grubby, old table. The restaurant was empty but they told us they were fully booked. We spoke to the Manager who was very abrupt and had a really bad attitude. We got up , out of our seats and left. We were all very disapointed as we were going to book for Christmas Lunch but we definatly wont be returning. Bad experience. I would not recomend the Derby Lodge.

Not good. I was served the wrong food. Which was very bad news for myself, because I have allergies and I'm a vegan. I was served a chicken tikka curry, not the Thai vegetable curry. Service is slow and very unprofessional.

Disappointing food quality, service - came here last November for family function and find there is no great improvement in the place. Staff were not helpful over menu items/questions about the food served, tables seemed dirty/tacky and seats have seen better days (customers who damaged them should have been made to pay for repairs to maintain visual impact in the dining areas). Won't be rushing back.

Absolutely dreadful, wouldn’t recommend at all! Staff friendly enough but decor of the pub was tired and very run down and the food was awful. We ordered three meals, Fish and Chips and 2 Jacket Potatoes with Chilli. We were told not to order the fish and chips from the 2 for £11 as the fish wasn’t very good, so we opted for the haddock. The fish batter was burned and the chips were warm ups. Then the Jacket potatoes were dry and the chilli was tasteless! Stupidly we didn’t complain, we definitely will not be going back 😡

Absolutely filthy ....dirty carpets and tables ...carpets look like they've not been hoovered since the 90s. ...never again

Turned up too see advert saying all you can eat breakfast only to be told you have to book a table . And they were fully booked . DONT ARVERTISE ALL YOU CAN EAT BREAKFAST WHEN ITS BOOKING ONLY . Very disappointed.

The building is beautiful. The whole experience wasn't great and it wasn't bad either, it was just....meh. The interior could do with an upgrade as it looks a bit tired and our table was very sticky for some unknown reason! We went for a friends reunion dinner and although the food looked appetising it was all pretty bland and tasteless. The tables are really close together too, we could hear every word the couple next to us said ( if you're reading this Steve, don't be pressured in to the cruise man!). I think this was exacerbated by the fact it has absolutely no atmosphere at all, like none, it was very bizarre, I have never been anywhere so lacking in ambiance. It felt like a workplace canteen were all the staff had been told off. Although both the dining and bar area were busy, this place definitely seems to cater to older clientele and had the aura of a retirement home. Having read other reviews it appears if you are a regular you receive the VIP treatment. We however were in and out within 45 minutes. Sadly I would not recommend this place, we had high hopes and signed up for the rewards card on arrival but we won't be returning.

Great restaurant, chips a bit over done!

We called here for a late breakfast sitting which was pre booked. The hot food order was fine but the continental option was confined just to croissants originally until I asked where everything else was. The original waitress said that was it but the manager did bring out some pancakes and muffins. Either keep everything stocked or don't advertise a late sitting and use that as an excuse to have little available. It was ok but could be better.

We went as a family for my sons birthday, it was quiet when we first arrived but the food still took a while to come out. My wife and sons enjoyed their food, I tried my sons sausage and mash, and to be honest, it was very nice. I had fish and chips, what a mistake that was, the fish texture was awful, burnt one end, rubbery in the middle, and soggy at the tail. I'd assume it was not cooked fresh and rather reheated in a microwave. They were stingy with the chips. We've been here plenty of times in the past and never an issue, I wish I'd gone else where to eat this time.

It was my birthday today after all my friends blew me out I went out alone haha felt like a gooseberry but I am telling you now the bar staff Ellie the most like and the manager Frankie they are 2 of the most wonderful cheerful staff members ever going an if ya ever out in Liverpool give the premiere inn a shout in the derby lodge huyton 1 of the most cheerful places you will ever stay and the best staff of all time Ellie an manager Frankie definitely recommendations all round

We went for breakfast, so I can't comment on anything else. The food was well presented and plenty of it. The staff were w very good, despite it being very busy, they were helpful, explained everything clearly. And very friendly. If you are looking for a place to go for breakfast, you won't go far wrong coming her. Great, service, good food, and great value for money. Thank you. We will be back soon.

Food was lovely our group had massive fish chips mushy please also fish pie sirloin steak with jacket potato everyone enjoyed it staff are very nice went to the bar side after the meal was a bit dead music was good but last orders 10.45pm and out at 11.15pm bit of an early night it seems for a Saturday night

Booked a table for Sunday lunch. Table was ready for us when we arrived. Served by a very pleasant lady Julie. She took our order explaining any questions we asked. Meal was served by her quickly both starters and mains chatting as she went. Although restaurant was busy she was happy to help us whenever we asked for more drinks fitting us in as she was going. Meal was nice and everyone enjoyed. Many thanks to Julie for all her help

Stopped by with the family, enjoyed a mixed grill, the food was excellent, and the service was amazing. Bev took care of our table, and she was extremely attentive, making sure nothing was too much trouble. Been a while since our last visit but will 100% return soon.

The breakfast was piping hot, fresh and delicious. Sarah and Ellie were also very welcoming and friendly whilst serving.

The food was okay but my steak wasn't hot and didn't get much peppercorn sauce for it. The salad I got wasn't fresh.

Regularly visit this restaurant with my friends. Always a lovely atmosphere and we feel looked after and welcomed . The lady serving us, Carol, was really helpful helping me set up my rewards card . She also informed me of offers that will be sent now that I have the card. Our meals were delivered promptly and were delicious. Carol then offered us a dessert menu which we decided to pass on, so she offered us tea or coffee. Overall a lovely relaxed evening, friendly, polite staff and reasonably priced food. Thanks Carol for all your help .

Tuesday 26th March, I went into the restaurant for food and the service I recieved from the waitress emma was amazing, anytime I requested something she was always there on hand with a smile and an incredible attitude to her service. I would like to say thankyou for making my stay a pleasure and she is a credit to your company

I had friends stating the hotel from Scotland, Ireland and Lancashire. We had a lovely meal together on Saturday night. The staff are always lovely (this round the corner from where I live) .There was a really drunk lady at bar with her young son causing a commotion and was extremely rude and aggressive towards 2 of the staff, Courtney and Julie. I don’t know how they both kept their patience but they handled it with true professionalism. Well done ladies

Had lovely dinner with friends unfortunately lady customer (drunk) with a child caused a big scene was very rude to the staff who handled the situation after taking much abuse! Thanks to Julie and Courtney for quickly dealing with the situation and we then could enjoy a lovely peaceful evening

Went to the Derby Lodge for breakfast this morning the service was fantastic. We was served by lovely young girl unfortunately can’t remember her name. Breakfast area was filled with everything we needed. 10/10 experience

We had a lovely lunch at the Derby Lodge today. The atmosphere was great very relaxing the food is really nice too. I must say one of the main reasons why we had such a nice time there and felt so relaxed was due to our waitress Bev. Such a lovely lady. She's very friendly, very helpful and nothing is to much trouble for her. She's a credit to the establishment. We will definitely be going back again.

Lovely food- food is delicious. However the waiter who served us (Julie) was very rude and abrupt we was here for our nans 70th and there was 10 of us. The waiter couldn’t seem to handle 10 orders at once and was very rude when taking orders.

We had breakfast on both days that wasn't so good, food came Luke warm and slightly overcooked and dry..I think it was left under a heat lamp. Staff were polite and appeared busy.... Need a better system...
