No chips menores, sino chips grandes.

We came across this cafe in this delightful village on the way to Wastwater as it is situated on the coastal road to Egremont and you need to turn off here to get to Wastwater . It is an atomspheric place with a bath tub made into a seat and a very obliging owner who served us a lunch in the late afternoon just before closing. It also sells gifts etc and serves all the usual cafe food There is a good free village car park nearby. It was a lovely place to find when we had not eaten lunch! Also for a small village on the lesser visited outskirts of the Lakes an interesting find.

The Bridge cafe in Millom has a sign advising that it has temporarily closed down. To be honest, having looked through the window it doesn’t look as though it’s likely to reopen anytime soon. The Trackside on the station is a fantastic alternative.

Unfortunately yet again The Peddler has been let down by the same rude member of staff that we have dealt with a few times. We were greeted by this lady shouting from across the room asking how many seats we need. When it was explained there would be 4 adults and room for two prams the waitress looked disgusted and barely checked before telling us they couldn’t accommodate us. The restaurant was empty and there was ample room for prams around all tables. The attitude of this member of stuff is always disgraceful, and everything seems to be too much of an ask. We’ve been to The Peddler numerous times and we will not be returning which is a shame as one person has ruined the reputation. Nearly £100 spent elsewhere.

What a outlook from the bar, great prices all around and the atmosphere is just perfect, excellent and highly recommended!

Not great. Toastie was only just acceptable. Table and chairs really need to be clean. Usually Costa is reliable and snacks eg. toasties are lovely. Not so at this one. Sadly.
