Dellys Thornton Heath in Croydon

Bought curry chicken,its the most nasty tasteless food I've ever tasted,because after 1 spoonful, that was enough, Do not waste your money,because I feel they've changed chef or something.

Staff were very kind and helpful. Food was ok for the price. Curry chicken was really good out of everything.

I brought food from this place But I never will ever again. I got curried chicken and stew chicken. Both me and my partner got food poisoning. Not a good look. I will never go back ever again

Came into Thornton Heath today Saturday April 27th there were two people in the shop an Asian and Jamaican 'aunty' the guy was tidying up and everything appeared reasonable until I place my order or a large curried goat. The container was packed with a serving of rice and laden with bones it was laced with salt £11 down the drain I was most disappointed 😞 I honestly wouldn't go back or recommend!

Absolutely disgusted at the amount of meat on the lumps of oxtail, especially it was a large. Absolutely no butter beans and barely any gravy.

Soup was nasty I hope not to see you again

Good food and the dumplings are lovely. But service was a joke lady was incredibly rude. I thought she may have had a bad day so gave her the benefit of the doubt and returned another day. Food again was lovely but yet again service was shocking so unfortunately won’t return

ordered lunch time deal a little bit after the cut off time because the normal price of food is way too expensive for what they are offering. the patty was kind of like a jelly and the wings were so horrible, the beading was so mushy I couldn't even enjoy them. the food was mediocre! too expensive and the owner was extremely angry at me for not wanting to pay a extortionate price for some mediocre stew chicken and rice

Love Dellys but they need to stop displaying large portions in the glass display cabinets. Then when you ask for that specific dish they whip round the back and you get a smaller portion.😯

This place has nice food, when there is food in the shop, more time there never no soup or porridge and those two things are standard procedure for this time of year and hungry ppl on the go. The prices are good not too expensive and the staff are child friendly... but bwoi suh when it comes to the soup and porridge that sells out from morning and then there's nothing I wan eat in there

Brought 2 beef patties from dellys Thornton Heath, very disappointed as I just wanted a quick snack to eat. Had one bite and didn’t taste any beef so decided to open the Pattie and found nothing but pure jelly as seen in the picture

Now the food is very good but service leaves a lot to be desired I order food they send something totally different to my order they never answer the phone there not tesco's replacement with something similar it's not what I ordered and I'm sure they will not pay attention to this review as it seems once they got your money thats what you get I expect nothing more from a poorly run and managed business its not the first time it's happened but definitely the last idI 'd

I went to Delly’s, in Thornton Heath on 8th June in the afternoon I had missed lunch time deals. I ordered four meals I was shocked at the price. I brought two curry goat and white rice and two stew chicken it came with no sides at all and it was small costing £32.00 I asked her not to put too much bones in the curry goat as it was for children after they had finished School. She searched throughly as she search through the meat, I thought wow what great service. later on sharing it I found that she had given me all bones in both dishes not one piece of meat apart form a piece of fat in both dishes. She deliberately picked out bones. What a waste of £32.00 I will never buy food from this shop. I was polite and did not deserve to be treated this way Things like this makes me not want to support my peoples businesses. Dellys shame on you and the fact that it was the manager that served me just shows the mindset, you must treat customers better than this.

Don't apply for the job if it says STAFF WANTED in the window, this is because they won't reply back to you. I applied for the serving staff and its been 5 weeks and I still don't have a reply. Hopefully we can fix this matter.

Curry goat was good and drinks was good would be 5 star but the patties tastes a bit to jelly and no meat

Bought chicken patties from here, and I was so disappointed and hurt to be honest because I was so hungry and had nothing else to eat :). It's like I was eating meat jelly, it was definitely mixed chicken with some sort of mince jelly. I won't buy patties from here again and they are £1.50 100% not worth it. However it's hit and miss, they're jerk chicken and brown stew chicken meal is nice, but got the callaloo the portion was tiny, had to ask the guy to give me more and even then it wasn't a good size.

Food has gone down hill I brought oxtail rice and peas it tasted off tried another time brought chicken soup it was absolutely awful you don't put a ton of cornflour to thicken it up no taste to it whatsoever luckily their are plenty more Carribbean takeaways around so won't be going to this one again any time soon!

I had the red peas soup and let me tell you it is amazing!! Well seasoned and they actually give you meat in your soup, the consistency the body 10/10. I will be driving over 10miles just to suppport this restaurant and the service was amazing as they adhered to my request in regards to the order I made. Thank you

Ordered jerk chicken rice and peas and fried plantains. Rice and peas was a little bit too salty. Rest of the food was tasty. Customer service was very good. I will order from Delly's again

I went to grab lunch, absolutely delicious! Can't go wrong with patties for £1, the spicy chicken one was really tasty. VFM lunch specials £5 for lunchbox, side and drink. Highly recommend the jerk chicken and curry goat.

Really Nice food. The younger ladies working there are nice and friendly. The older one seems bitter even towards kids. She’s not very welcoming maybe better off in kitchen. Apart from that it’s a nice restaurant:)

I love Dellys, food and service are excellent. I'm a regular been going since they opened. The staff are friendly and the food delicious. I usually chose a filled dumpling either ackee and saltfish or BBQ/jerk chicken and a main dish. I had oxtail and rice and peas last time that comes with a choice of a little side dish, I had coleslaw and a drink if it's lunchtime meal deal. Everything is prepared in advance which means short waiting times. Along with the sounds playing in the background, I really like going to Dellys and I defo recommend to others.

Just took my Naija friend here (his first time having Ja food) and he loves the food... He said he'll definitely visit again when he's next in South... Dellys Rocks!!!

Jerk chicken horrible! Food are so expensive and to food are below average won’t come back there no worthy .

Staff are too slow and lethargic when serving. Need to be more attentive to customers and remember to be polite with thank you etc. Also to refrain from chatting about personal stuff when dealing with customers. The motto should be Customers Come First!

Curry goat was very good and I had a smile on my face for the rest of the day!

First time visit to this takeaway. I haven't been to a Caribbean take-away for about 3 years as I always find that the service and portions very disappointing, so I generally cook it myself. On this occasion I thought I would treat myself and give it ago. I ordered large chicken curry and rice and peas. Service was excellent girls were very polite which was very welcoming. But when I opened the containers it was what I was dreading. The chicken was lovely in taste but for a large portion is was small. There was two legs where the meat was not all there and 2 very small and boney part of the thigh. Very disappointed as I thought things would of changed. Really enjoyed the sauce as there was plenty of that.

Nice chicken soup on a Sunday afternoon. The cheesy beef patties are awesome too

My husband and I went to the shop for a takeaway, we both ordered jerk chicken, rice and peas. When we got home and started to eat I said to my husband the chicken tasted really funny so didn’t eat anymore. After a few hours my stomach started to feel funny and I haven’t been able to stop going to the toilet. I’m beginning to think I’ve got food poisoning as I’m really not feeling well.

On Saturday 25th April 2020 roughly between the hours of 18:30-19:00pm myself and a friend visited Dellys (Thornton Heath) for a takeaway meal, on entering there was already 2 customers in the shop, myself and my friend were not at all greeted or even acknowledged until the 5th customer came in were the black lady serving then said “only 3 people allowed in the shop at a time” my friend and another customer then left. There was 2 female members of staff (one Black older looking and one Asian younger looking) the black lady then asked if I would be ordering a lot of things ? Which I found a bit strange of her to ask, like what would it matter if I was? Anyway I said to her I would be ordering 2 medium stew chicken meals for me and my friend stood outside, she asked what sides we wanted and also if we want the food warmed which I answered, She then went on to ask if we would be paying together or separate? When I said separate she found it hilarious...? I was then asked if it would be paid by cash or card, I said mine would be paid in cash and my friends by card, she then picked up the card machine and told my friend to come and put her chip and pin in, my friend misunderstood what the member of staff said and used contactless method to pay for her meal to which the staff member kissed her teeth and said “you never hear I just say to use your chip and pin, you better hope it goes through” there was obviously some sort of fault with the machine but how was a customer to know if not told or nothing displayed ? Cutting a long story short the black lady serving was absolutely shocking! How she is behind that counter is beyond me, it’s a shame as the food was nice but service was uncomfortable and appalling.

Bought rice and peas and brown stew chicken yesterday for myself and whole family. The rice tasted odd and very buttery as if it was stale food that wasn’t refrigerated overnight and heated up. Safe to say, the food was off, and we are all suffering with upset stomachs and frequent trips to the bathroom. Customer service needs to be improved on aswell. Very nonchalant attitudes. I’ve always liked Dellys food, but this may be my last visit.

I'm not one to usually complain about the portion of my food , but it's the second time I've received hardly any meat with my lunch-time meal. Very disappointed, and on both occasions I phoned up and my complaints are falling on deaf ears. My partner is Livid as it's our hard earned money being spent on literally a tub of rice with a few strips of meat that would just about be suitable for my 7 year old daughter. I'm a regular and spend decent money so please fix up. Show the young girls at the counter how to serve FAIR portions of food. I used the term "young" not to seem disrespectful but just so you know who I'm referring to as the older Ladies who serve never seem to give out such appalling portions. Just so you know I'm a regular, rather than replying saying how sorry you are, forget that and just do da ting legit. Ok , bless.

I am a regular customer, i have never had any issues with Dellys before. On Saturday i Purchased two lunch time meals, I asked for not too much gravy, the Woman serving assumed I meant "no gravy". I told her i didn't ask for no gravy I said not too much. She politely apologised realising she had misunderstood me. However after getting home I realised there was hardly any meat in the meals as she was obviously sceptical of giving me too much gravy. I'm a regular customer and phoned twice and spoke to a Man who said he is the "assistant manager". I explained what happened and politely asked if there's anything he can do. He then suddenly changed his tone and insisted he didn't have the authority to do anything for me, i wasn't expecting much but as an assistant manager he could have offered me another meal or a bigger portion , even just a side or something, i even told him i lived around the corner hoping he might have said come in now and we will rectify the issue but he insisted there was nothing he could do. I found that odd as like i said on my first initial call he referred to himself as the assistant manager.

Food was disappointing! I ordered pepper steak and I got flavourless boiled type of meat. It was so overcooked and dry that I ended up leaving it and eating the rice & salad! Dont put things on the menu that you cant cook properly it's most likely not to make people want to come back.

10 out of 10. I regretted buying a medium and not a large.

My first time and last time visiting this establishment. Firstly there was no menu available, so I had to Google people's reviews online to decipher what meals were available. The customer service was questionable and the food was awful. I much prefer Yah-So next door.

Good wholesome food. Have been back recently and the food is very very good, only one problem there's a new staff member a young lady not too long been there I'm sure it's quite rude and I'm sure that's not good for business just saying spending my good good money over £30 a time, would like better service than that

the food is quite normal, it does not have anything special, but I do have to say that the service is unfortunate, the salespeople do not care if the queue of customers reaches the street, they talk, or are attentive to their smartphone while they wait for the microwave to warm up a meal ..., being able to start serving another customer ..., there is very little interest in giving a good service.

Food is average . It has gone down hill since I first started going a couple of years ago. Female staff extremely rude , nonchalant . look like they do not want to be there , this is not how an owner should run his/her business. I witnessed one shouting at the young man serving when he had done nothing wrong, it was embarrassing for both him and customers. By the way the two young men who have served me are very polite and have manners. Due to the appalling behaviour of the female staff I wont be back.

The food is good but when it comes to CUSTOMER SERVICE...Horrible!!! Everytime I go to Dellys the FEMALE employees treats the customers including myself like a piece of Shxt! They speak to you as if you're begging food, their Facial expression and body language gives you the impression as if like... why tf are you doing here? When you ask a question they reply very abruptly and aggressively and they often criticize and talk down on their customers (I have heard many times over). Ryan and the other Male employees always treat and greet me well. Mr. Delly, you need to sort out your female employees because we as the customers ain't sleeping with them! Thank you. You are losing business because of these elements. Employ qualified respectable women in your establishments please.

A solid place to fill your belly with spicy Jamaican food like jerk chicken curry goat some fish an other stuff all that stuff an a long while ago a girl who was so so beautiful worked in there just try it

Love this place, the food is excellent and it's a great place to get a late night meal. The fried chicken is my favourite, especially their BBQ sauce. They even do Guiness punch which I never see in Thornton Heath. Take a moment to appreciate the large menu and taste some of the jerk chicken as well.

If I can't be bothered to cook some hard food #delyscaribbeancusine is the one for me. Foods good , reasonably priced and the staff are getting quicker when it comes to serving. There is also a nice Jamaican restaurant right next door.
