Maks Chinese Takeaway in Croydon

I ordered some food yesterday worth £50 and was very disappointed with the lack of taste, flavour and stale food. The food is not how it used to be in maks. My 7yr old child rejected her crispy noodles as it was so blend. For the price they charge the food is not worth half of the asking price and for a business who does "cash only" you think would make better effort and try not to draw bad intentions to themselves. Never again!!!

This honestly has to be the worst Chinese I’ve ever had. I was extremely hopeful after reading reviews but I was very disappointed. The food was very bland and lacked flavour, I ordered roast pork with rice and was given barely any pork. I will not be returning

This place has been my go to chinese shop and it never fails to impress me. The beef is tender, the chicken wings are juicy and I recommend the Singapore dishes for their remarkable flavour.

Mak's is definitely my go to Chinese. With so many Chinese takeaways in the area it's so difficult to choose where to order from but we always come crawling back. Smoked Shredded Chicken is one of our favourites Good portion sizes & always fast delivery

I make an order today and they deliver me within few minutes better than any delivery services like Uber delivroo etc.the food is very tasty, best Chinese food take away in Thornton heath indeed.welldone guys and thanks for being punctual and professional.

Food well on time I seriously don’t know what to say about the food Chicken curry lots of onions bits of meat don’t know what they were ( it could have been anything tbh) What a waste of £35 Not the first time you have done this I am now reporting you to health and safety plus advertising a product that so bad it’s unbearable I see your health certificate is only a 3 omg why did I buy food from you As I said I’ve kept all food to be checked I’m so looking forward to results You can’t keep doing this

This was without doubt the worst Thai I have tasted. The red Thai curry was green and the chicken slimy and tasteless. The Thai ribs were salty and fatty. Awful experience

I ordered a beef chow mein, the noodles were good but the beef was slimy and pale and tasted old. That's the first and last time I'm ordering from there, I'm keeping the food incase I get ill!!!!

It's a great experience. The ambiance is very welcoming and charming. Amazing, tasty , yummy food's and service. Staff are extremely knowledgeable, freindly and make great recommendations. Food delivery early and hot🔥. The Driver is also very friendly and good. I recommend all of you must try it once. Very appreciated💯💯

thought I would give this place a try the food was really greasy the special fried rice was the worst I've ever eaten maybe this place was good once upon a time but now it's outdated, pricey and the food is bad, the place looks dirty even the fish on the counter is in a dirty tank.. I won't be going back I try to find positives when writing a review but sadly I can't here

The food was fresh and delicious. The portions were good-sized at a reasonable price. I'm very glad they are just down the road from me, will definitely buying from them again. I loved the special fried rice, and the squid with green pepper in black bean sauce! If you want chinese just go there.

We wanted to order food for 37 people and we need it delivered at 13:00 (Lunch time). Their opening was at 12:00. They have managed to get the food ready and delivered at 13:30. The food was delicious, they also gave us 4 extra meals for free. We'll definitely make new orders again!

Ordered for collection over the phone, and the staff were very friendly, helpful, and easy understand. The portions are fairly bug, but the quality was excellent. Sweet and sour chicken balls were light and fluffy, the sauce wasn't radioactive red 😂 The chow mein tasted warm, fresh, and crispy. Parking was easy around the corner. Recommended!

Great fresh food. Rice isn’t greasy and vegetables are lovely and crunchy, not stale and limp. The eat Chinese Take-out in the area.

Maks Chicken fried rice is perfect even when you asked them to make it xtra spicy they do make it so its perfect but what i have ordered twice and ordered it for someone else to eat and tell me what she thinks is Chicken in satay sauce or black bean sauce, the taste is weird like bland , not good at all , the chicken is slimy no taste so i don't order anything with sauce with Maks again because of that , i order somewhere else and it tastes good. So chicken fried is good with Maks. They should look into how they prepare the sauce. or the Chicken they use in preparing the sauce

The food was really good and well prepared. Waiting time was adequate and the portions were really good. The place looked clean and well decorated and there was no overbearing smell of food coming into the counter area from the kitchen. The girl who served us was really polite articulate and spoke very good and clear English. As for the price, it was really good value.

Make sure you order the salt and pepper prawns and if you like a bit of spice, get your rice cooked in chilli oil! This place is really nice!

Food is lovely n I'm quite particular in how i like my food n I was not disappointed. They done just as I requested. If I went by some of the reviews I would've missed out! First time eating back there since about 4 years ago definitely will recommend!

My personal favourite of the moment. Previously it was Wong Kei on Thornton Heath High street, but the owners went back to Hong Kong. New owners & chef there are not to my taste. Maks is a great replacement.

Food is sub-par, honestly nothing to write home about, which would have been fine....until the flatmates and I started ordering vegetarian options! Quickly noticed we were being SERIOUSLY ripped off for what was essentially cabbage in watery sauce. Don't bother ordering anything that doesn't come with meat or rice, you're better off walking to the supermarket and frying up your own beansprouts or just going to Boxpark!

Prawn Fried rice, you can count how many peas and only four prawns in there one slice of tiny spring onion. Plus when I asked for veg they said there is veg in there. What? Ten peas ridiculous.

Maks has been a reliable and delicious choice for Chinese for a long time. They have limited seating in the restaurant but great food and great service.

Wish I could post no stars but not possible. Worst takeaway I've ever tasted. Very disappointing. Food was almost an hour late. Appalling. Would not eat from here again.

Apologies for the one star but unable to post with none so consider the one a minus at least. Ordered Special chow mein and chicken with spicy salt and black pepper. Oh boy what a shock. Basically very poor chicken nuggegts (small like kfc popcorn) with a lot of fresh uncooked green chilies and some onions. The Special chow mein was very special in fact so special it forgot most of the ingrediants and the soy sauce, tasted like it had been boiled in grease and then refried in more grease with a bit of pork and three small shrimp and one string of chicken. At least there was plenty of noodles. (and grease) Spoke to Maks and could not believe the explanation - was told that this was how it was done here and that spicy salt and black pepper was actually served as green fresh chilli peppers and onion. Could not believe what I was hearing so said it again and taped it this time - oh boy, got told the same. I was also told that was not what was ordered by us. When I explained that she spoke to two people here who read of the note on which our order was written down and confirmed with her twice. I got a repeat of ''that is how it is done hear''. On that note be aware that as far as Maks is concerned whatever you order from them may not be what you get and be extremely carefull if you have any food allergy's. I have taken photo's and records of th episode and will be sending them off to the authorities along with the food for their analysis. Suggest you avoid this place like the plague.

Definitely the best Chinese take away in the local area. Friendly, efficient service. Food that is fine. Oh, and importantly, to me, an FSA rating that is better than nearly every other outlet in the area.

Everything is sexy, the food is sexy, Miss Mak is sexy Mr Mak is sexy Andrew Mak is sexy. Everything about Mak's is sexy.

I tried the vegetarian options there and it was OK. Nothing to write home about. Average chinese takeaway.
